She arched a brow at this. He was a terrible liar. At least in this matter. An impish grin spread across her face and she slowly walked forward to him.
"You know, you don't have to lie to me."
Before he could stop her, she had him pinned against a cleaner section of the wall, pressing her body up against his, her lips gently caressing his ear as she whispered to him.
"I think that you would dream of it. But then again, maybe you don't need to. I hope by now you're aware of just how...exposed I am under your coat."
Sookie was dubious about just how alike they were. "Tell your story and we can see who wins the 'my life sucks' award." It may have sounded as if she were being spiteful, but she truly was curious and she would honestly share hers with him if he had done the same.
Remy climbed the ladder and Sookie stayed on the ground, still doubtful about going up. HOwever, when he mentioned it being safe because no one was there, she jumped up, grabbed his ankle, and dragged him down to the ground again.
"You honestly don't think they aren't still looking for us? Besides, look at me. I'm naked aside from a coat. A barefoot girl in the middle of winter is bound to attract attention and we want to blend right now. If you want to go, go for it. It's your funeral, but I think it would be smarter to wait until it gets dark and probably go back up in a more...suburban area."

He looked to her when she said he was lieing to her and was suddenly found pinned to the wall. The way she was up against him, her lips in his ear and whispering to him, he couldn't help the urge to take off the coat and have her at that moment. He decided that it would be his turn to surprise her next time. When she talked about sharing stories, he was silent for a moment, but decided that it would be useful to make the time go by.
"I was banned from ever returning home. I was destined to marry a from a rival theives guild, and her brother challenged me to a duel to the afterwards. I won, but after that they banned me from the city and warned me never to return.
When he climbed up to see, a part of him did want to leave the sewers, but the sudden yank on his boot caused him to lose his grip and drop to the floor, though landing on his feet. When she said that she would rather wait until nightfall and arrive at a more secluded area, he immediately grabbed her and pinned her against a more clean part of the wall. He smiled and leaned in, brushing his lips against hers before moving to whisper in her ear.
"Guess that gives us some extra time alone then doesn't it?"

She laughed lightly and pulled away from him, only wanting to tease him a little bit. Granted, that didn't mean that there wasn't any part of her that didn't want to act upon her words. She just had better control than that.
Sookie bit her bottom lip. Not being able to go home was bad. But then again, she would have traded him any day. "When I was fifteen years old my...ability began to develop. My senses were maddeningly sharp. I could hear mice in the attic, I could tell who had been where just because of the way the air smelled, and I could see better than anyone I've ever met. I didn't know I was a shifter until I had to run for my life. The rest of my family was fine with it. My brother, however...let's just say my entire family is dead and my brother is in prison, hopefully for the rest of his life."
Thus far, Sookie had been the only one doing the slamming so needless to say she was a bit surprised when she recieved her own treatment. She couldn't say that she didn't enjoy it. At the same time, him actually touching her back terrified her. She liked Remy and she didn't exactly have the best luck with men. They often found her eccentric, maybe even bipolar. She couldn't blame them. She bit her bottom lip and fought the urge to leap on him. Then, the idea came to her. She gently pushed him away, which in itself was odd for her, and gave him a skeptical look.
"I thought we were going to find a better place to resurface."
Then, a clatter down the tunnel caught her attention. Granted, it was not loud and Remy probably wouldn't have even heard it. She closed the distance between them again and clamped a hand over his mouth and listened hard. It was not a rat or any other creature that could be roaming the sewars. Sookie had even considered aligators, but the fact was simple. They weren't alone. She reflexivly growled and her form began to change, her new body sliding out of the duster. The white wolf that stood in her place stepped forward carefully, sniffing the air, muscles taut, ready to spring at any moment.

"Guess we both have a bad home life."
He didn't say much after that, but he realized that they didn't have that much difference with each other after all. Then again, most mutants did share the same family hatred one way or another, but some were worse then others. When she pushed him away from her, he couldn't help the smile that played on his face.
"Doesn't mean we can't enjoy the moment eh?"
When she looked down the tunnel, he was about to ask her what was wrong when she placed her hand over his mouth. He gave her an odd look, but when her form started to sink through the duster and come out the same wolf he saw earlier, he figured something was wrong. He picked up and put on his coat as the wolf growled and seemed ready to attack. His own hand sinking into his pocket, placing a card in his hand. His eyes glowed red, and from inside his pocket the card began to glow.
"Let's take it slow then."
He walked slowly down the tunnel, keeping inside the light that was being shined through the grating. He didn't have the senses like Sookie did, so the light was his only means of keeping an eye on whatever was making her upset.

She shook her head at this.
"I miss home. The frozen and wet winters, the horrible weather we're so famous for...all my friends. I had a life there and people I cared about who cared about me. I suppose I still have that, but I can't stay there. Last time I tried to stay home I went mad. I broke mirrors, tore wallpaper off. I broke more than I left. My friend Moria found me laying down and crying in the frame of a broken mirror. After she made sure I wasn't in a horrid condition we spent the rest of the day gutting out my brother's room and burning everything he left behind. Not that you want to know about my soap opera."
The noise came again and Sookie bore her teeth before bolting forward, her padded feet not making a sound upon the soiled ground. The figure was a shadow at first, but it wasn't long before Sookie made out the outline. She snarled loudly and leaped upon the intruder, clamping her long, sharp teeth around the sleeved arm of her prisoner, ignoring the taste of cotton. She clamped hard enough to ensure the prisoner wouldn't move, but also wouldn't be hurt. Not yet at least.

Sookie wasn't the only mutant who had the clever idea to crawl into the sewar with Cain's arrival. It most certainly wasn't the most glamourous place to hide, but it would have had to do. She had no choice after all. Cain knew her and because of this he would not be easy on her, not that she would have wanted him to be anyway. She just wanted to get out of the city alive and the sewar seemed like the best bet. After all, who would want to go to the sewar?
Rogue had shifted and caused a rock to roll past her feet. She winced as if she had collided with a wall, but when nothing happened, no crashing cement, no pillar of fire, she relaxed a bit and stood up just in time to hear a loud snarl. Without enough time to react, her arm was seized and...bitten?
"What'd ya think yer doin' down here, ya stupid mutt. Get off me!"
She yanked her arm, but it was no use unless she wanted to rip her arm open. She wasn't exactly in the position where she could use her powers or else she would have. Her nose wrinkled when she noticed just how close she was to a puddle of waste. She exhaled a sigh and prayed someone would be close behind this animal.

"Yeah, I'm guessin I can't see myself headin home either."
Remy continued to think about New Orleans as they stood waiting. He kept his hand inside his pocket, his eyes glowing as the wolf took off running. He immediately started after her, but his eyes lost their glow when he heard a familiar voice. It was a young , with a southern accent, and when he saw the outline come into view, he couldn't help but smile.
"Well well, looks like there's some southern comfort in the sewers after all." he smiled, then looked to the wolf, "Go ahead and let her go, Sookie, she's on our side."
He smiled and walked up to Rose, giving her a hug after Sookie let her go. He hadn't seen her since the return from Canada, and after that he lost all track of his sweet talking friend. After a while he backed up and looked her over, seeing that nothing had changed except she managed to get some sewer gunk on her clothes and jacket.
"Rogue. Where you been? Haven't seen you since that little family reunion you had with your mom. You been hidin under a rock or somethin?"

Sookie glanced up at Remy and then back down to Rogue, still a bit dubious as to if remy really knew this person or not. She released the girl, only after applying a bit more pressure. When she jumped off her back she made it a point to land on Rogue's shoulder first, pushing her back into the ground again.
She examined the two exchange greetings with watchful eyes. She wasn't so much worried about herself as she was for Remy. He seemed trusting of this girl and she could have very easily turned on them. Simply because Remy was trusting of her that did not mean Sookie would be.
She ignored the sentiments and snarled at the air before snapping her jaws in Remy's direction as if to remind him that she was still there, short on introductions and very much naked, even though her form and fur made that acceptable.
A scurrying rat caught her attention and at first she paid it no mind, but then a swarm of them followed in its tracks and she became more curious. She gave Rogue and Remy another glance before looking the direction where the rats had come from. She sniffed the ground and kept her ears alert.

Rogue almost couldn't believe her ears when she heard Remy. Was she losing her mind or was she just extremely lucky? And since when did he own a dog? She was about to get up when the massive animal landed upon her shoulder and then bounded away. It wasn't until she actually saw Remy that she really believed it was him. She couldn't help but to laugh at the conencidence as she returned his embrace.
"I guess you really are a swamp rat then, ain't ya?"
She rolled her eyes at the mention of their last encounter.
"Yeah, sug, because that wasn't embarassin' at all."
With the question of where she had been she had to shrug.
"Just around, I guess."
That was a lie and she knew it. The truth was that she wanted to be alone. She already had enough people floating around in her head. She grew tired of them and being around so many people was growing to...not really scare her, but make her more nervous.
"So whose you're little bitch? I guess having a dog would be useful in some ways, but there's always the disadvantages. I never took you for an animal lover myself."

He smiled as he and Rose chatted, almost forgetting Sookie was there before she snarled and barked. He laughed a bit and shook his head, forgetting his manners. He looked to Sookie and smiled.
"Forgive me, cher." he looked back to Rogue, "Rogue, this is Sookie. Sookie, this is Rogue, one of the X-Men."
He knew Sookie was cautious, but maybe letting her know Rogue was indeed one of the good guys, or gal in her case, would help. He looked down as the rat scurried past him, and like Sookie he paid it no mind. When an entire swarm of rats began to run in their direction, he groaned and turned in the direction they were coming from, his hand in his pocket and his eyes starting to glow once again. He silently hoped it wasn't Cain having found them again.
"Sure hope who ever's making dem rats run is a friend and nobody who wants to find trouble."
He touched a card in his pocket, causing it to glow once more. He was ready as always, trusting Sookie's senses, even though her judgment on people did need to be worked on. He waited until she acted before jumping to conclusions.

Sookie caught the duster in her mouth easily and before she could shift, Rogue had called her a bitch. Her muscles tightened again and a low, yet loud and menacing growl rumbled in her throat. She flung the coat back at Remy, deciding it would probably be better if any words Sookie spoke to Rogue weren't heard by Rogue.
Remy introduced them and Sookie only glared back before thrusting her nose into the air with a snort. She had to admit, part of her was a bit jealous of Rogue. She was lovely and Sookie had never seen herself as attractive. She always only saw a skinny, lanky thing. People said otherwise, but people had said the world was flat at one point.
Sookie bounded forward to see just what was causing the rats to run, not caring to be cautious. She leapt over the swarm of animals. She had to admit she was upset when she found the source. She was well out of Remy's and Rogue's sight by now so she was sure they wouldn't see the frozen pipe that had burst, filling up a chamber where the rats had made a home.

Rogue didn't say anything for a while, but watched Sookie. Studied her in a way. If she was a dog then she most certainly was a smart dog, there was no denying that. But these behaviors were surprisingly...human. Perhaps Remy had merely met a new...friend was the only tactful word she could consider.
When Sookie pushed her nose up into the air she winced. It was becoming clearer and clearer that this wasn't your ordinary dog. She had met Faolan before Ayden and David had gone where ever they had gone. He was a brilliant animal, but not to this degree.
She watched at Sookie bounded over the rats, the mere thought making her sick to her stomach. Even though Sookie seemed fearless enough, Rogue wasn't exactly sure that following an animals insticts was always the proper thing to do. She looked at Remy and waited to him to respond to Sookie's actions.
"The wolf is a mutant, isn't she?"
Come to think of it, a shape shifting mutant wasn't really that far fetched. There were mutants who had characteristcs of other animals, such as Logan and his keen nose, but she hadn't seen one actually become another animal.

"Yeah, she's a mutant."
He was glad that Rogue was able to catch on, though Sookie's behavior was pretty obvious. He stayed in front of Rogue as if to protect her from whatever could be down the tunnel. He was glad that he had Sookie around to be able sense when something's not right, though her absence was making him a little nervous.
"Sure hope she's alright."
He didn't say it out loud, but he had grown fond of his shape shifting companion. He hoped that whatever was down there making the rats run and keeping her there was nothing too dangerous. After a while he took hold of Rogues wrist, wrapping his hand around her coat and gently began to lead her in the direction Sookie went to. He took out his card, his red eyes glowing once more.
"Sookie?" he called into the darkness, his car lighting up only a little of it, "Everything alright, cher?"
He tried to put enough energy into the card to light it up as bright as he could without causing it to explode in his hand. The last thing he needed was causing himself injury with his own powers.

Annoyed and bored by her discovery, Sookie decided to head back. However, a part of her wasn't sure if her company was wanted any longer now that Remy had found someone else to explore the sewars with. That and she was capable of caring for herself. She had lived in the sewars before, she could do it again. The rats were still rushing through her feet and her wolf form melted away into the rat she had been mere hours ago. She kept with the traffic of the other animals, keeping in mind to only do so until she was past Remy and Rogue. She wondered to herself what Rogue's actual name was. No parent in their right mind would name their daughter Rogue unless they were mentally impared or just mean.
She was just past them when she heard Remy shout for her. She froze and argued with herself to keep going or to go back. Eventually, the less cruel part of herself won and she dashed back to them. She shifted and reached around Rogue to tear the duster away from Remy again, covering herself and hastily buttoning up the front.
"It's just a broken pipe."

He was getting more worried when he didn't hear a response. It wasn't until he felt his duster being yanked away from him did he turn around, raising now the only card in his hand to throw it at the coat er. When he saw that it was only Sookie, his eyes turned normal and the glow around the card faded. He placed the card into his back pocket and breathed a sigh of relief.
"You had me worried, cher."
He smiled and walked up to her, running his fingers through her hair to let it fall free around the coat instead of in it. He had to admit he liked how she looked in his coat compared to her regular clothes. He smiled and trailed a finger down the side of her face and back down to her hands, taking them in his and holding them as he looked at her.
It didn't take long for him to remember that Rogue was with them as well. He looked back to her, rubbing his neck as he did. He didn't mean to make himself look like a lovestruck fool in front of one of his friends.
"We should get you back to the school. Things have been pretty bad 'round here."
