Cain had been traveling by air so long he almost forgot what it was going to feel like being a solid a solid form. He chuckled and looked around as people began running and screaming in . Remy stayed in the alley with Sookie while Cain looked down the empty streets. Cain continued to walk down the street, passing by Remy as he did.
"Well now, let's see if I can draw out some X-Men."
X-Men? Why would he want the X-Men? Remy thought to himself as Cain stopped by the alley that they were in. Cain's form began to change again, turning into the cement that the road. He raised his arms into the air, his hands forming into giant hammers. He brought the "hammers" down one at a time, causing the ground to shake and . Remy almost lost his balance as the ground began to shake more violently, a beginning to form down the main strip of the road. Cain just began to laugh as the buildings began to shake and some of them wobble.
"Stay here." Remy said to Sookie, then took out his deck of cards and walked towards the man.

Sookie didn't want Remy to go. Was he out of his mind? Going up against Cain with nothing but a deck of cards? She was going to stop him, but she knew that that would be stupid of her. She knew people well enought to recognize how stubborn they could be.
Once Remy was out of sight, she slipped behind a dumpster and slipped out of her close, feeling the bitter winter air upon her bare skin before shifting, thick white fur sprouted out of her skin and before she knew it, she was no longer human, but a massive white wolf. Everything was in such dissary that no one noticed or cared that a timberwolf was in the middle of New York City, but she stuck to the shadows, keeping a careful eye on Remy and her muscles taut, ready to spring forward to the rescue if she needed to. However, she hoped that no one could force her shifts. It would be cold and embarassing to be naked in the middle of the streets. Her eyes narrowed and her lips pulled up to bare her teeth. Granted, for a fight a wolf might not be the best shift. HOwever, she could always change her form midbattle.

Cain was enjoying destroying the roads he barely noticed the man in a fedora and duster coming out with a deck of cards in his hand. He smirked, allowing the "hammers" to turn back into hands again. He turned towards the man, his cement fingers flexing as he did.
"Well now, come to play cards? Well then, allow me to deal my hand."
He laughed, punching out with his fist, which extended towards Remy. Within seconds, Remy slammed his cane onto the ground, causing a force that ed the cement and launched him into the air. Cain was more then a little surprised at this, looking up just in time to see Remy's glowing red eyes, a card glowing and heading in his direction. The card hit, causing his stone head to explode into pieces, leaving his body standing there motionless.
"Well...that was easy enough." Remy said with a half smile.
His smile turned to shock when he saw the head reforming itself. He stared in disbelief as the newly formed head of Cain was reformed and looking at him with an interested smile.
"Impressive, perhaps you will be more fun to destroy then I first imagined." he said, laughing a bit as he did.

Mystique was in disguise, as always. Her figure was tall and lean, eyes of silver, and long curly black hair cascading down her back. She was probably the only person who had not lost control of her deminor when things began to get a little...shaky in the city. She only smirked within her facade, keeping clear of where she could get hurt, knowing that Cain wouldn't be very willing to control himself to keep her safe.
Her eyes flashed yellow and she smiled slyly as she saw a familiar being step out. She had only seen him a handful of times, but she knew him. However, that didn't mean he knew her. Remy Lebeau, also known as Gambit.
She had to admire his courage at standing up to Cain. Either Remy had never heard of him or he thought the stories were all...exagerated. She shook her head as she watched the scene. A small child ran up to her and grabbed her hand, asking if she could help him find his mommy. She wrinkled her nose at him in a disgusted fashion. She may have had children of her own, but that didn't make her maternal by any means. She yanked her hand away and moved to a more secluded area to watch the scene.

"Dam, you're a hard one to bring down aren't ya?"
"You haven't seen anything yet." Cain said with a smile.
Remy watched as his hands changed into the giant hammers again, this time raising into the air and aiming at Remy. Again his eyes glowed red as Cain's "hammers" came down on top of him, and this time he raised his cane up and twirled it around, striking them and causing them to explode down to his shoulders. Cain was, to say the least, shocked at this turn of events.
"Well," Cain said with an amused smile, "You are indeed a hard one to kill as well."
"You ain't seen nutin' yet." Remy said with his own half smile.
Out from his pocket came the cards again, red eyes glowing, causing the cards to light up. Cain's arms were reforming, but not fast enough. Remy let loose his barrage of cards, exploding on impact at different points of Cain's form, causing him to finally collapse into a pile of rubble. It was then that Remy noticed the young boy and ran up to him.
"You should find some place to hide, kid, dis place is dangerous."
Remy felt the ground rumbling again, and as he turned he saw the pile of rubble forming together again. He rolled his eyes and prepared for the next round, but instead of a body, it formed into a giant head. Cain smiled at him and the ground began to shake once more. Cain rose up from the streets, only he rose up as a giant, towering over the buildings, the sides of his feet touching down near the edge of the sidewalks.
"Dis...could get complicated." Remy said to himself.

A familiar voice echoed across the street and Sookie's eyes flashed up. The little boy who had asked her to play an other song had been seperated from his mother and was not asking a woman in gray to help him find her. The woman refused and Sookie growled. Seh glanced from Remy and the man in gray before bounding across the street towards the abandoned, scared looking little boy. Before she could make it there, Remy had reached him and she snorted to herself.
Once she was to them, the boy fell down, horror struck, then surprised to find her sniffing at him. She pulled him onto her back, the boy still dumstruck and silent, and began to sniff at the ground until she caught onto the scent that covered his own, which could have only been his mother. She nosed at Remy's arm and nodded in Cain's direction before bolting forward to reunite mother and child. She was nearby and happy to see him, but surprised under the circumstances of his arrival.
Sookie's visit with them was breif and she was back to obseve Cain and Remy, growling at at the lady in gray in the process. It wasn't until someone noticed her that people began to panic at her presence, believing her to be with Cain, on the hunt for them. She whined and jumped off the sidewalk in an attempt to get away, but the scared people flocked around her and blocked her escape route. She snarled at them, but before she could think to attack them, she shifted, forming into a black rat and racing through stomping feet until she reached Remy's feet, unsure of where else to go, hoping that he was not fearful of rodents.

"Bad luck for both of us I guess."
He looked to the small rat and picked it up, placing her onto his shoulders. He knew it was Sookie, hearing screams from nearby people that turned from shouting about a wolf to screaming about a rat. Cain continued to tower over him, raising a foot to crush both Remy and his animal companion. Remy ducked under his foot, coming out from the other end just as the foot came down with a crash. He ducked into a nearby alley, hoping the shadows would hide him for a moment.
"I hope you have a plan, cher," he spoke with his breathing heavy, "Cuz I dun got nuttin."
"Come on out, little mutant, I'll make your quick." the giant chuckled, his voice booming over the city.
Remy peeked around the corner at the massive form who was now scouting the streets in front of him. When the form looked behind him, Remy ducked back behind the alley before he could be spotted. He read the bible so he knew of the story of david and goliath. Only problem was, Cain couldn't be hurt by stone, cuz he was stone.

Sookie exhaled a sigh of relief once they were hidden in the shadows, but she knew that they were far from safe. She sniffed at the air before she squeaked somewhat triumphantly. However, it wasn't as if Remy would know what she wanted him to do, orwould be aware of what her idea was. Her nose twitched at she thought for a moment before taking his duster into mind. She didn't think now was a proper time to be naked in front of a man she didn't know.
Sookie crawled down his shirt, clinging to the fabric with tiny claws, and crawled onto his back before her body began to shift away, her bare skin pressing up against his back and the duster.
"I hope you don't mind. I don't let normally dress down so much on the first date." She forced his arm out of one sleeve, unintentionally brushing it against her bare abdomin in the process. She then slipped into the other sleeve and closed the coat best she could, her numb feet paying no mind to the icy concrete beneath them. "I have an idea, but it's much more flight than fight. Let's be honest, a shifter and...whatever you are, will have a tough time taking down a giant piece of stone."
She gently took his hand knowing it was wise to be silent and stay to the shadows. She swallowed swallowed a lump in her throat, her eyes shifting from Remy to the outside to her intended desination. There was a small grate over the opening and it was rancid, but more appealing than death. She pulled hard on the grate and it came up. "I recommend you go first, I'll put the grate back on and follow you down." She hoped he wouldn't refuse. She would never admit it, but Sookie was scared and she really wished that Remy would stay with her.

"Huh? Hey!"
He tried to keep his voice down as Cain continued the search for them. He was thankful that the man didn't have night vision, but he couldn't help the feeling that his duster was getting tighter. It wasn't long before he realized the rat was Sookie again, only with less clothing and slipping into his coat. He felt a little embarrassed about the situation, but he couldn't help but smile.
"I won't take it personal, cher, I dun really see a on the first date either."
He turned and looked to her as she opened the grate under them. He gave her an odd look before another glance out of the alley. Cain was getting close to finding them, so it was either the underground or fighting a giant, and he had to admit Sookie was right. Two mutants didn't stand a chance against one giant one. He jumped down and waited for her to follow, taking a card out of his pocket. His eyes glowed red once more and the card began to light up, giving a soft glow that gave off a little bit of light.
"Definitely smells like da swamp, only the swamp smelled better."

With Remy underground, she slipped off his duster and dropped it down to him, hoping he would catch it before it could reach the soiled ground of the sewar. Fully exposed, she moved the grate back into its proper place before shifting once more, her human flesh desolving into an asp. As she pushed herself through the grate she cursed herself for not imprinting upon a smaller serpent as well, such as a garder snake, but it was too late. Besides, an asp had advantages. There was the deadly poison that now tainted her fangs and the black would help for blending into the shadows, especially now.
At last, she was through, hitting the smelly concrete chest first, knocking the wind out of her in the process. She shifted back into her human form and moaned lightly, sitting up and clutching her stomach as she struggled to breath.
"Bigger isn't always better."
She mumbled to herself. Even her stance was somewhat animalistic, hunched over and coiled up as if ready to pounce at any moment. She searched the area for her stolen article of clothing and smirked at Remy's words.
"I don't know why it bothers everyone so much once they're down here. I have a keen nose so to me it smells the same as it did on the sidewalk. That's why I don't like the city so much."
The ground above them shook as Sookie rose to her feet, her only cover still the shadows, causing the shifter to jump and the unexpectedness of it all. she had assumed they would be safe underground. She shut her eyes and opened her ears, listening. Waiting. Suddenly, her eyes shot open, their chocolate brown replaced by vibrant glowing yellow. "It's going that way. Our best bet is to go the oposite direction. She pointed down what Remy might see as only a mass of shadow, but was truly a long tunnel of waste. "Did you catch the coat by the way? It's starting to get chilly down here and I don't like sprouting fur while in human form. I can do it, I just feel like a werewolf when I do, and I am not a werewolf."

When his duster came falling down, he caught it in one hand and slung it over his shoulder. He watched her bare form with wide and interested eyes, admiring every curve and skin shown as she climbed through. When she turned into a snake, he waited to see what she would do, but he had to wince as she hit the ground and shifted back.
"I could've caught ya, you know."
He smiled a bit and turned away as she got dressed, then turn back to her when she asked about his coat. He smiled and draped it over her shoulders, letting her nestle into it. When she commented on the sewers, he had to smile.
"I'm not disgusted, just reminds me too much of home."
He smiled a bit, then looked up when the ground shook, and she started to say that Cain was going in a different direction. He looked in the direction she spoke of and once again lit up his card, causing it to glow faintly with the light. As they began to move underground, Cain's form was growing smaller and disappearing into the cement. Everyone came out to look for him and the two other mutants, but all three had vanished.

She smirked and shook her head. Being a shifter came with many advantages, such and minute injuries not bothering her very much.
"No, I don't think we've known each other for long enough for me to be comfortable with your hot sweaty palms carressing my naked body. Maybe later though."
A disquieted look came across Sookie's face at the word 'home'. "I can relate to that." Sookie never even went to her mother country anymore because of all the greif that was there. Try as she may, she still couldn't see back into the good memories anymore. All she could see was her brother standing over her little sister covered in blood with a knife in his hand. She regreted to think it, but she wished he would die in prison before anyone could even think of giving him any chance at going back into the world.
Sookie reached out and forced Remy to lower his arm. "Light isn't such a good idea yet. We're still around a lot of openings. We may be hidden, but that doesn't mean we're safe. Don't worry. I'll make sure no evil rats come out and get you."

"I'll take you up on dat offer."
He gave a half smile as he looked her up and down, almost as if imagining himself having his hands on her without the clothes in the way. His smile faded when she seemed to have a hurt and sad look on her face. When she said she could relate, he could tell in her voice she had some bad memories.
"Somethin' wrong, cher?"
When she didn't answer right away, he decided to leave it be. As a mutant he understood how talking about home life can be hard. It was hard for him to think about New Orleans when he was banned from the place not long after they found out he was a mutant. When she put her hand on his arm, suggesting he put out his light, his red eyes turned to normal and the energy faded from the card. He smiled when she made her comment about protecting him.
"With you around, I got no worries." He smirked and kept walking for a few more feet before speaking again, "New York certainly is a friendly place when you get use to it." he smiled a bit, realizing he had nothing but bad luck in the city.

She glanced over at him just in time to see him looking her up and down. One of her raven brows arched into her forehead. She had seen that look before, or at least one very similar to it.
"You're eye screwing me, aren't you?"
She crossed her arms and smirked at him.
"Sugar, now is not that time or place. In case you haven't noticed, we're kind of in a sewar. I may be...adventurous, but not to that degreee of nasty.."
He asked if she was alright and she bit down on her bottom lip, fighting the urge to tell him the truth, "I just can't think of home without feeling hurt. And alone." It wasn't exactly a lie, but it was far from the whole truth as well. The world knowing about her insane, closed minded, and murdering brother was far from what she wanted. She would have been happy to move on with her life as if he never existed. As if none of them had existed, but she didn't have the strength to sell the house. It was a dark reminder of what once was, but it was still her home.
"Are you implying that meeting me was bad luck? That's not very nice."

"Wouldn't dream of it."
He laughed when she put her question so bluntly. "eye screwing"? He never quite heard it put that way, but figured it was a close enough description. He continued to smile, but when she commented about home making her feel alone, his smile faded slowly.
"See, we already got somethin in common."
He couldn't help but think back to his own home, and a pained feeling in his gut reminded him he couldn't go back. He was homesick, and each time he remembered home or saw something that reminded him of it, he would feel it. His eyes grew distant as he thought about going back someday, but not knowing if they would welcome him. He was brought back to the present when she asked him if he was calling her bad luck.
"Not a thing, just sayin I'm sure I can count on you."
He looked to her with a reassuring smile before looking back ahead. It wasn't long before he saw a ladder that lead them back up towards the outside. He stopped and climbed up slowly, bringing himself to the edge of the grating and lifting it up, looking around to see if there were people around. Thankfully it was all clear, no sign of Cain either.
"Guess we can get outside now, nobody's around."
