Sookie wasn’t mooching. Not even a little bit. Just because she was playing the guitar on the ground next to a busy building and singing with the instrument’s case open beside her that didn’t mean she was asking passersby to give her money. However, she didn’t stop them when they did. She had ‘earned’ about thirty American dollars since she had started singing less than an hour ago.
Her breath was turning into a fog, but she kept playing. She knew she had a musical talent, but she hadn’t the funds or the drive to pursue it. That and she doubted she would get far. However, she had to remember all of the ‘artists’ who had become popular over the years.
She felt her fingers begin to grow numb and she began to play a song called February Air, thinking that it was appropriate. She was too focused on the song to pay attention to the small cloud of people forming around her that moved with the traffic of the sidewalk.
For the first time since she had started playing a small amount of applause was given to her and she couldn't help but to smile slightly before proceeding to pull her gloves back on her numbing fingers and gingerly placing her guitar back in its case.

Remy had heard about the lockdown on the mansion. Being one for freedom, he was thankful that he had the permission from Xavier to leave. After all, he wasn't part of any group in that place. He only came to that place to find logan and talk to him. Once that was accomplished, he set out on his own. Even with the stories of Cain running around and some other form of organization taking power, it didn't involve him.
He walked down the streets of new york, his cane tapping softly on the cement sidewalk, his hat on his head, duster covered over him while his trusty pack of playing cards rested neatly in his coat pocket. He watched as a few people began to gather around a nearby building, and as he drew closer he also began to hear music. He had never heard this kind of music before, but who ever was singing it was doing a lovely job and gathering quite a bit of fans. He smiled a bit as he walked over to join the crowd, joining in on the applause that finished after her song. He had to admit New York was an interesting city indeed.

She smiled shyly as a young boy in the crowd ran up to her with a quarter in his extended palm, asking her nicely to sing another. Once she got a good look at the boy, her smile faltered a bit. He reminded her of her younger sister, Tonie. It had been some time since she last though of her family. His mother ran up to him and apologized, but she told her it was alright and the child took a seat in front of her. Sookie glanced at the crowd and shut her guitar case and began to sing her own version of the song Fall Back Down by Rancid. She paid little mind to the people around her, her eyes mostly locked upon the boy, who stared back at her with a wide grin upon his face.
Upon finishing the song, he thanked her and ran back to his mom, loudly declaring that he had made a new friend. Once the music ceased, the crowd started walking on, no body noting the tears that were welling in her eyes. That, she thought to herself, was a good thing about cities. Everyone was too concerned with their problems to pay mind to others’. She composed herself before standing and rushing into a dark alleyway, shrinking behind a dumpster and releasing a chorus of mangled sobs. This was the first time she had cried since her brother had killed her family. Since she lost everything. She tried to keep it in, but it was useless.

He applauded once more as another song finished, watching as a young boy ran up to her and handed her a quarter for another song. He wasn't really one to pay attention to things, but he could tell something about the boy made her upset. He listened as she played, his foot tapping along with the tune, even though he hadn't heard the song before.
He smiled and joined in as the crowd once again applauded. He waited until the group disappeared before tossing a few of his own coins into the case, but as soon as the group had disappeared, the took off around the corner and into a dark alley. He would've just continued on, but his curiosity and feeling for the s safety in a new york alley got the best of him. He sighed to himself, wondering when he'd stop getting put off by young s with beautiful voices.
He headed into the alley, his cane now tucked under this arm as he stepped in. He followed the sound of the sobs until he came across the area where the was hiding around. He walked towards the edge and leaned against it.
"Quite a show you put on cher."

Sookie had heard Remy following her down the alley. She assumed he'd just pass her by. In fact, she had been hoping for it, but she found herself disappointed. He was different from the majority of the people here. She could smell it on him. It might have sounded mad, but he smelled as if he were soaked in swamp water. When he opened his mouth, Sookie found she was right. His accent was that of a cajun, or at least that's what she thought the American's called them.
"Leave me alone." she mumbled into her legs which were pulled up into her chest, hiding her face.
Sookie knew she must have looked fantastic. She always became a hideous mess when she cried, which was a larg part of the reason she rarely did it. She didn't know why she was such a hysterical mess right now other than the cruel reminder of her family. She missed them dearly and often felt completely alone in the world. She was strong, but that didn't mean that she never faltered. No one was strong enough to never falter. She just wished that she didn't have to break down in front of someone else

"Aw come on now, is that any way to treat someone who was just givin a compliment."
He heard something in her voice that could've been English. He wasn't quite sure, having only met a few people from England during his stay in New Orleans. He smiled a bit, taking out his deck of playing cards and shuffling them from one hand to the other. He did this sometimes when he was bored, but other times just because he wanted to impress someone, which usually ended up with some good impressions and some bad ones.
"How 'bout we get out of this alley before we attract unneeded attention."
His eyes went further down the alley where three strange figures were standing at the far end, looking in there attention. He could barely make them out, but their build could only point out that they either worked out alot, or had taken one too many steroids. He cursed his luck inside, wondering why he always met trouble when following a pretty . He silently wondered why he kept falling into these predicaments.
"Tell ya what, cher, since I wasn't able toss in some profit for your lovely show, I'll at least treat you to a drink, perhaps some coffee?"

Sookie sniffed. It may have sounded like she was sucking snot back into her nose, but she was really smelling the air. They weren't alone. She looked up and hastily wiped her eyes, being sure to not make a mess of her eye make up. Shockingly, her eyes weren't that bloodshot. Before Remy could see anything else she rolled up onto her feet and threaded her arm through hers and pulled him the opposite way down the alley. Their visitors weren't exactly friendly. They intended to make a plaything out of Sookie and a punching bag out of Remy, but they couldn't if she caused a distraction.
"Play along."
Those were the only thing she whispered to him before dragging him towards her, trapping herself between him and the wall. Before the massive men could advance, she hid her face behind Remy's and began to fake 'passionate' noises, loudly declaring that she needed him now and it couldn't wait until they got back to the hotel. Many people looked in from the street and Sookie heard the other men saunter away. She couldn't help but laugh once she was done with her display, glad to have other things on her mind than her dead family.

He didn't know what had happened. At first it seemed like she was just sniffling, but before he knew it she was on her feet with her arm in his. He gave her a curious look when she told him to just play along and began escorting him down the alley towards the men at the other end.
He was about to comment on the situation when she suddenly pulled him to her, pinning her between him and the wall and leaning into him. The things she whispered into his ear and spoke out loud would've made any normal man turn about as read as his eyes usually glowed. Remy was just shocked to say the least, and when the men turned and walked out of the alley, and the eyes at the other end began paying attention to their own business. He straightened out his coat as she began to laugh, giving her a little half smile. It wasn't often he found somebody who was able to put on a show like that.
"I am impressed. Didn't know I was in the company of a musician and an actress. What's your name, cher?"

The thing about Sookie was that she blew hot and cold...a lot. She could be happy and content one minute, then you'd say something wrong and then she would be ripping your spine out with her bare hands. That would explain why she was suddenly having a giggle fit where a few moments ago she was a sobbing mess.
Remy made a comment about her being an actress and she smirked, grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling his face close to hers, their lips less than an inch apart. "Who said I was acting?"
Sookie's voice wasn't that of a typical Brit. She had spent half of her life living in Florida so she did have a British accent, but it was fairly weak. She had to admit she was surprised that he hadn't mentioned anything about her just seeming to know what was going on with the burly men at the end of the alley. Most people would have been pounding her with questions, but he wasn't. Not yet anyway. She wished it would stay that way.
"Sookie."
She slid between him and the wall and made her way back onto the sidewalk.

He could almost feel their lips touching each other when she pulled towards him after giggling. He had a feeling she was difference, not just from what happened, but also from her going from sobbing to giggling within a span of two minutes.
"That's the question then isn't it, were you joking or no?"
He smiled a bit, not knowing what was going to happen next, until she slid out from in front of him and began walking towards the sidewalk. He sighed, straightening out his clothes and looking up, then turning his attention once again to the , who had introduced herself as Sookie.
"Name's Remy."
He smiled a bit, tipping his hat as he usually did after an introduction. Though he realized it was pointless since she had her back to him and was walking out towards the sidewalk. He shrugged and followed after her, walking out into the cold air and sunlight once again. Once they were back out into the sunlight, he smiled and looked to her, wondering what she planned to do now that her singing was done for the day, at least he thought it was..
"Well Sookie, I must thank you for an...interesting meetin. Perhaps we can do it again sometime."

She was about to say 'good for you, you know your name. So do I." His wallet was in her pocket now. She was a very skilled pickpocket, the only useful thing she had gotten from her older brother. She could have a wallet out of a pocket in a matter of seconds, and as slyly as a fox. However, before they would part ways, she had intended on giving it back to him.
Suddenly, Sookie stopped dead in her tracks. Something was wrong. Before Remy could go past her, she took his arm and forced him to stop. "This isn't right." was all that she said before handing his wallet back to him. However, before she could be bothered with him, she sniffed the air. First, short and searching sniffs, followed by a single long inhale. She recognized that smell. Blood. And smoke. She dropped her guitar case and pulled Remy against the wall with her, her eyes darting nervously from one lenght of the road to another. She shut her eyes and rolled against the wall, breathing and in and out very slowly, keeping a shockingly strong hand on Remy's arm to ensure that he wouldn't go. The least she could do was help one person, even if he thought she was crazy for a while. Sookie began to talk to herself in a low voice. It would take a moment for someone to realize she was reciting literature to herself rather than just rambling. Not many would recognize the Allegory of the cave, but for some reason reciting it calmed her down. Calm was good, but now, it was gone.

"Hm?"
He didn't know what she was talking about, but when she grabbed his arm he stopped and looked at her. What did she mean about it not being right? He was more then shocked when he found his wallet being handed back to him from her.
"How did you get this?"
He gave her a curious yet upset look. He was nice to her and she paid him back by pickpocketing him? He tried to walk away, but her hold on his arm was stronger then he thought. He looked at her strangely as he suddenly felt himself held against the wall. He was getting more then a little nervous watching her look up and down the street.
Nothing happened at first, but then the wind began to pick up. It wasn't like the regular kind of strong wind, at least not at first. It started as a low wind, then began to pick up to where he couild barely hold himself. He watched as cars began to be pushed down the road and into each other. Some cars rolling onto the sidewalk as people struggled to get inside the buildings and apartments.
"This ain't no regular wind. We need to get off the street."

It wasn't as if Sookie was going to keep his wallet. It was her way of gallivanting. It was also probably why she had never had a relationship that lasted much longer than a one night stand. The wind picked up and she shook her head as if shaking herself back into her senses, which actually worked rather well.
She sniffed the air again and suddenly the scent of the sewar filled her nostrils. It wasn't the most pleasant smell, but it did give her an idea.
"You live around swamps. Smelly water shouldn't be too bad for you."
She tried to be aloof, but it was obvious she was scared, cowering into the wall. Were Remy to look around he would see some of the dogs on the street acting in the same fashion. She hoped that he wouldn't hear the low whimpering whine that was fighting in the back of her throat. She wanted to curl up and disappear, but she couldn't do that. All she could do was run and hide and it wasn't a concept she was fond of. She truly wished that she would wake and this be only a nightmare.
"I'm a mutant."
The words were so blunt and sudden they even surprised her.
"We might die anyway so someone might as well know."

"I one shouldn't judge a cajun by where he's from."
He didn't really want to deal with debating on where his roots were with the wind picking up as bad as it was. He looked up at the sky in time to see it get darker with clouds. He may have been from the south, but he knew a tornado when he saw one. What was a tornado doing forming in the middle of new york? He felt her shaking with a slight fear, and used that opportunity to bring her back into the alley where they came from. There was very little wind problems there, and he looked to her when she said she was a mutant.
"Good, so am I."
He peaked around the corner as the tornado struck the earth with a loud crash, tearing apart the road it landed in. The funnel cloud stayed motionless except for it's massive spinning, then seemed to peal from the sky and fall towards the earth in a pillar of air. The air seemed to swirl around until it began to form what looked like a male figure. His eyes widened as he watched the "air figure" began to grow solid and gain color. He was dressed in black clothing, cold dark eyes and slightly paled skin. Long silver hair hung over his shoulders, his hands brushing his hair behind him.
"How I love to make an entrance." the figure said with a cold smile.

It was a good thing that Remy had pulled her aside because she wasn't sure what to do. When he admited to being a mutant as well, part of her wanted to embrace him with glee, but now wasn't the time for that. If they lived through this then perhaps.
Sookie remained behind Remy as he peeked around the corner, but more out of a sense of safety rather than a sense of fear. She jumped when the wind funnel touched down, but her attention was seized when the wind began to form into a being. She never seen him before, but she knew his scent. With the adventures other Exiles, his scent was familiar. She bared her teeth slightly and a low growl rumbled in her chest.
Then, she realized what was going to happen. "They're all going to die." She pulled back into the corners of the shadows of the alley and began her calming ritual once again, only quieter this time, images flashing in her head of her little sisters and her parents. She had seen enough murder to last her a lifetime. "I'm going to die too." she mumbled to herself. She was solid, no matter what form she too. She was no match for air. For the first time since the night her family was taken from her, she was scared.
