"Um, nope not that I see."
He looked around a little more before Anya poked her head out from around him. He then walked in, taking off his shoes so he wouldn't leave tracks. He then scouted the area, looking in the main hall, kitchen, and all along the downstairs. When everything seemed to be clear, he walked back to where Anya is.
"Ok, we made it safe."

She smiled and watched him check out the place. She shook her head. It wasn't necessary to go check the kitchen and downstairs. When he returned her smile just brightened. She tried helplessly to get her hair to cooperate, but it didn't.
"Good. Let's go get dressed into something not drippy, and I'll have to wash my hair four times before it's de-ocean-ified," she admitted with a smile, not really caring that her made up word sounded ridicules.

"Yeah, I'm beginning to feel like a sponge."
He laughed when she spoke her made up word, admiring her imagination. He waited until she started walking up the stairs, then walking up next to her. It was quiet in the mansion, and he didn't mind it at all. He knew it would just go back to the same liveliness it always had in the morning.

She walked up the stairs and was thankful that she couldn't hear all the noises that went on during the day. There was always an argument or someone getting in trouble or sometimes even worse. Now there was silence, and it calmed her. It wasn't that suspicious silence, it was just quiet. And she knew it would be the opposite of quiet in the morning.
They reached her room and Anya saw the clock on her nightstand and it said it was after midnight. And she was sure tired after the long walk back and all the swimming. But at least she wasn't shivering anymore.
She looked up at him then. She was sad the night was over and definitely wanted to have another night like this again with him sometime. Soon, hopefully."So I guess this is goodnight...?"

The walk to her room was quiet, no noise but the sound of their shoes hitting the hard wood floor. The place looked almost creepy to him, but he shrugged it off. Nerves were making things hard to deal with even when nothing was going on. They reached her room and they looked at the clock. No wonder he was so tired, it was after midnight.
He turned and looked at her, smiling a bit when she looked at him. He really didn't have that much fun lately, due to Cain and the way things had been around here. But one night out with Anya made things better to deal with, and he wouldn't mind going through a night like that again. When she asked if it was time to say goodnight, he sighed inwardly.
"Yeah...I guess it is."

She nodded tiredly, but she was still sad to say goodbye, even if it was just for tonight. So even though she was wet and tired, she was still sorry to watch him leave. They'd still agreed to figure out Cain's weakness together, so they would get to see each other again soon. Because when you're looking for hidden secrets, Ayna was just the girl to find them.
"Well," she smiled and stepped into her room, closing the door halfway behind her so she could still see him, staring at him with her mysterious silver eyes. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."
He continued to look at her, even as the door closed, his eyes never leaving hers until there was nothing left to see. He sighed, running his fingers through his hair the way he usually did. It had become a habit over time, and he would usually do it when he was frustrated, worried, nervous or embarrassed. This time was just confusion. He knew he'd see her again, so why was it so sad saying goodnight?
He turned and headed back to his room, closing the door and taking off his clothes. He grabbed a pair of clean boxers and a t-shirt, not even bothering to climb under the covers. It was too humid out anyway, and even with the cool of the mansion, it was still a fight to keep cool. He laid in bed, looking up at the ceiling with his hands placed behind his head. He sighed, wondering what tomorrow would bring. He had to get to work, to see what made Cain tick. It wasn't long before his eyes began to grow heavy, and he was soon sound asleep.
