He walked along the beach with his hands in his pockets, noticing that the sun was just beginning to settle down on the horizon. He loved this part of the day outdoors. The orange sun mixing with the blue sky, causing the clouds to turn a pink-orange color. He stopped and stood, looking out over the water. He felt more at peace out in the open then he did locked up in a danger room.
What made this moment better was he had company this time. He usually had company, but this one didn't have four legs and a tail. He laughed on the inside, just imagining Faolan's sorrowful look if the pup ever knew he went out walking without him. He wouldn't be surprised if the wolf came running down the road towards them. But for now he'll just enjoy the company, and that company was Anya.

Anya stopped when he did, looking out at the horizon, too. "I always love sunset," she said in a soft tone, smiling again. She always felt peaceful during sunset, even when she wasn't at the beach watching it. But, then again, she was always peace it seemed.
The last few times she'd come to the beach she'd been alone, so it was nice to have someone to talk to. She'd taken off her shoes and dug her toes into the sand, seeing visions of who-knows-how-many people who had stepped on the sand before her. It could've been overwhelming but she'd learned how to control her visions mostly.

"Yeah, it's beautiful."
He looked from the sunset to her, seeing how the lights from the sunset seemed to make her glow. She almost looked like a spirit the way she glowed with the light, her smile making her look even more beautiful. He gave a half smile at the thought, looking back towards the sunset. Absently his hands came out of his pocket and went together behind his back, his left hand grabbing his right wrist.
"We picked a good time to come out."

She nodded, noticing his eyes on her but didn't think anything of it. Boys always seemed to look at her. One more wouldn't change anything. She nodded again when he said they'd picked a good time. They definitely had. "It's much better than being cooped up in the mansion, anyway. I love being there mostly, but sometimes it just feels like I'm trapped," she turned and looked at him then, her smile still hadn't budged. "That's why I'm glad we live close to a beautiful place like this. If I couldn't come here..." she trailed off for a while, looking back at the sunset before finishing, muttering the last few words, "I don't know what I'd do."

He nodded when she commented on being trapped in the mansion. There've been plenty of times where he would leave the mansion for the sake of leaving it. Every time he left it though, the young wolf was always by him. He didn't mind it, that's how he had met Chez and now he was standing with Anya. When she smiled at him, he smiled back at her. Something about her smiling seemed to keep the smile on his face.
"Sounds like I'm not the only one with something on my mind." he said, noticing how she trailed off.

She glanced back at him, nodding slowly. "Mine isn't exactly something worth telling," she said, but she still had that smile on her face. Her face was always sore from smiling so much, but she'd learned to ignore it. "Compared to your problems, it's nothing," she added.

"You know, back in my home town, my parents taught me somethin. They said that the best thing a person can give is a friendly ear."
He looked out at the sunset as he said this, hoping that she would be able to get his meaning. He was able to confide in her, so maybe with a little luck he would be able to get her to return the favor. But he couldn't help but wonder if her face was really getting sore from all that smiling, and another inward laugh was made at that thought.

She looked back at him. "You're parents were smart," she kept on smiling.
She did get his message, but didn't feel like talking about it right now. She was too peaceful, and her issues took a lot of explaining. When he made that inward laugh she looked back at him, pulling her eyebrows together. She still managed to keep that smile on her face, though. "What did that little laugh mean?"

"It's nothing just..." he smiled, looking back to her, "You've been smiling since we've met, isn't your face hurting at all?"
He truly hoped he hadn't offended her with what he was saying. The last thing he wanted to do was make it seem like he was being insulting. She was a great person, and his bad day was turning out better then he thought it would.
"I didn't mean anything rude by it, I promise."

She just raised her eyebrows at him when he asked, but then burst out laughing when he said he didn't mean anything rude by it.
She looked at him then. "You couldn't hurt my feelings if you tried. And no, my face doesn't hurt... not yet," her smile brightened, as if being in pain from smiling was a good thing. "I'll be paying for it later tonight. But I'm used to it, anyway."

"But if it hurts to smile, why do you smile so much?"
He gave her an odd look when she laughed, wondering what it was he said that was so funny. He looked back over the beach and noticed a flock of geese that were flying in a V-shape in the sky. He wondered what it would be like to be part of a group like that. He was only a student after all, so he couldn't really know how to be a part of something yet, could he?

"I don't know..." she admitted, looking back at him. She pulled her toes out of the sand and began to walk forward again.
"I can't stop," she looked back at the sunset again, "That sounds silly, doesn't it? Oh well. It can't be that bad to smile all the time, can it? It's better than scowling all the time," she laughed softly after she said this.

He took off his own shoes and socks, letting his feet sink into the warm sand. He forgot how good it felt to have the sand between his toes. When she laughed at her own answer, he couldn't help but laugh as well. He had to admit to her logic, scowling too much is a lot worse then smiling too much. He walked down the beach until he was standing next to her again.
"By the way, I never thanked you...you know...for helping me earlier."

She looked at him then, only with a small smile this time. "You don't need to thank me," she looked back forward again. "Helping people is what I do best," she smiled brighter then. "And revenge never answers anything, and I couldn't let you head in that direction. Once you go down that path, you never come back..." she frowned now, or as much of a frown as she'd ever shown. Her lips were more of in a flat line rather than a frown. Her tone sounded like she spoke from experience.

The tone in her voice drew him to look at her. So that's how she looked when she wasn't smiling. Even with her mouth in that flat line, she looked sad. She was right, she was better off smiling then anything. Revenge not the way to go. He looked ahead as he thought about that sentence. He couldn't imagine going down a road where all you want is revenge for things. Once you got revenge for yourself, would you stop? Or would you seek revenge for other people to?
"Cain...he killed my parents. If it wasn't for my sister, the entire town...my home...I wouldn't be here right now. I haven't heard from her either, I hope Cain didn't find her."
