He smiled at her when she spoke of how he looked like a hand to hand kind of person. He had to admit that he did better fighting with his fists then with any weapons. He looked back up at the sky as she spoke, then looked back to her with a small laugh.
"Yeah, I guess it would get boring, and a bit of a problem when it's taken personally."
He looked back to the sky again and let his thoughts wander. As he thought about things, his thoughts went back to his battle with Cain. Cain was the same material as he was, but he was able to do things with his form. David's face grew serious and thoughtful at the same time. He couldn't help but wonder if he would be able to do the same thing.

Anya looked at him curiously. She couldn't help but wonder what made his expression turn so grave so quickly. She put her hand on his shoulder then, since he knew what her powers could do, and watched his thoughts the same way he did. Then she pulled her hand away again.
"I think you could do those things if you concentrated hard enough," she admitted, looking back at the sunset again.

"Hey, you peaked that time."
He looked at her when she touched him, but didn't register why until she commented. He laughed a little, the first laugh he had since his run in with Cain. It felt good to laugh again, and he was thankful Anya got him to. As he stared at the sunset with her, he couldn't help but imagine what he could do.
Maybe make a hammer out of his hands, even a sledge. Or maybe a giant spike, or turning his fingers to spears like Cain did. That would be poetic justice for ya he thought to himself his own technique used against him

She looked back and smiled at him, "Yeah, I peaked. Is that such a bad thing?" she laughed once and laid back against the sand. "You're face got dark so suddenly. I had to see what you were thinking."
She sighed a long, calm sigh as the sun finally went down and they were both in the dark then. The sky was fading and was clear so all the stars started twinkling down at them. All they could hear were the waves crashing against the sand in front of them. And all they could feel was the light wind blowing.
"It's so peaceful here," she said, closing her eyes. She rested her hands on her stomach, crossed over one another, and her legs were still twisted together. She was very still, and if some random person walked by they would think she was asleep.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I tend to get that way when I'm thinkin."
He smiled when she did, looking up as the sky seemed to light up with stars, one by one. When she said it was peaceful out here, he nodded and responded with an "mmm hmm". He looked up at the sky as it became a blanket of stars. He smiled as he thought about his sister again, wondering if she was looking up at those same stars. He mentally began counting each one, knowing he would either lose count or fall asleep.
"I love it out here, especially at night. No city lights to block out the stars."

She nodded. "Yeah. It's almost surprising that no one else is here. It's such a beautiful night," she spoke softly and opened her eyes again, locating different constellations. She looked at him, and realized he still hadn't put his shirt back on. Before, when she'd only been looking at his scars, she hadn't noticed how muscular he was. She caught herself and immediately forced her eyes to look back up at the stars, not his muscles. She hoped he hadn't caught her looking and then was thankful it was dark because she was sure she was blushing.

"Yeah, guess nobody likes being out at night anymore."
He had to admit that with the sentinels out and on the move, Cain doing who knows what, and people disappearing, it was a wonder anybody was out at all. He felt a set of eyes looking at him for a second, and knew it had to be Anya. Was she checking him out? He was also glad it was dark, because he was starting to form a half smile on his face.

She could kind of see a smirk on his face, so he must've seen her looking at him. But it was only payback, at least. He'd been staring at her before, but he'd looked at her much longer than she'd been looking at him. At least sh wasn't blushing anymore now.
She sighed, "I think I could stay out here forever. If there weren't so many issues with Cain and the stupid sentinels and all the students disappearing... I don't think I'd ever leave this place."

"Yeah, my thoughts exactly."
The smirk on his face faded as she spoke about staying out here. He had to agree that if Cain and his flunkies weren't out and mutants disappearing, he's stay out here as well. Cain had to be stopped, he had to have a weakness. He sat up, realising that he had come to his own conclusion.
"Anya, I'm going to get him." he looked to her, "He has to be stopped, not just for me, but for everybody. He has a weakness, I'm gonna find out what."

She sat up beside him. "What? You're going to go after a freak like Cain by yourself just to find his weakness? How do you plan to do that, exactly?" she raised her eyebrows. She couldn't contain her smirk for very long. Smiling was just an instinct to her, even in an argument. She thought he was crazy, but he was even crazier if he thought she'd let him go alone.

"No, I'm not going to face him." he gave her a look like she was crazy, "I'm going to find his weakness then face him."
There had to be more people out there who had met up with Cain. Maybe if he spoke with a few of them, he might get an idea on what he can do. He knew that if he found out enough about Cain, then there's a good chance that he'd be able to find the man's weakness and exploit it.
"I have to find out what makes him tick, and then stop the clock. Know what I mean?"

She pursed her lips slightly. That was much easier said than done. She nodded and then hesitated, "Well, how do we do that?" she didn't even notice she said "we" but hoped he wouldn't mind. He probably didn't want to pull her into any danger, especially when it was Cain they were talking about, but she definitely wasn't going to let him do anything alone.

"I don't know, I have to find out something. Wait...did you just say 'we'?" he looked to her curiously.
He wanted to make sure he heard what he did, but knew that it would be too dangerous for her to come along. Sooner or later he'd have to go up against Cain, but didn't know how he would handle trying to protect someone in the process. Though deep down he was more then happy to know that someone is willing to go through this with him.

Anya hesitated and looked back at him. "Um, yeah," she smiled a sort of sheepish smile. He didn't sound that offended by it, so that was good. "Is that bad thing?"
She knew that he would probably feel protective over her if she helped him, but maybe she could convince him that she didn't need protecting. And especially not when she had her hook swords. Her smile soon returned out of habit.

"No, not at all." he smiled at her, "I don't mind you coming along at all."
He couldn't help but keep smiling when she did. It was good to know that he had someone with him now, especially someone who had helped him the way she did. He placed his hand over hers, still smiling as he did.
"Thank you, for everything."
