She didn't look at him at first. She didn't know what it would feel like to lose her parents. And even after they'd found out she was a mutant, they'd still loved about her. That was more than most of the students back at the institute could say...
She looked at him then, a small smile returning to her lips. "If she's smart, she'll be fine. Who's your sister? Is she a mutnat, too?" she couldn't help but be curious. Other than smiling all the time, curiosity was the next most popular trait in her personality.

"Thank you. She's smart, but I still worry about her."
He smiled at her when she asked about his sister. He looked over the water as he remembered his sister, even after all this time it's like he saw her earlier today. When she asked if Megs was a mutant, he gave a half smile in answer. He hadn't seen her since she was five, but when he saw her she was human. Could she have gotten powers? Was she still human? If she did have powers, was she using them to help or harm? He hoped, that if she did have powers, she was doing good with them.
"Her name was Megan, but my family and I called her "Megs". She's not a mutant...at least...not when I left. From what Xavier says, mutant powers often manifest later on in life. If she did get powers, I hope she's using them to help people."

She nodded, smiling at him again. "I'm sure she is. Unless some idiot got to her, why wouldn't she use them for good?" she thought a moment.
Then she fell backwards. Even though it didn't look it, it was on purpose. Anyone who'd seen it would have thought she'd passed out or something. She landed on the sand, and put her hands behind her head for a pillow. She crossed her legs over one another and rested them flatly on the sand. She didn't care if her clothes got sandy. It was the beach, wasn't that supposed to happen? She smiled at the thought, but she'd never stopped smiling to begin with.

"Yeah...some idiot getting her."
His smile faded as he thought about what could happen. What if Cain had gotten her on his side? Would he have to battle his own sister? He almost shuddered at the thought. He looked at her a little worriedly when she collapsed into the sand, but realized it was on purpose when she placed her hands behind her head. He smiled and laid down next to her, doing the same with his own hands.

She chuckled at the worried look on his face, "I wish I'd had a camera. Your face was perfect," she shook her head. "You looked like you thought I'd had a heart attack." Then she thought about his sister and what might happen if they had to fight each other. Siblings fighting on opposite sides of a war was never a good thing. They never turned out well.
"I don't think you're sister would get into trouble," she replied, even though she had no idea who his sister even was, really. She still smiled as she looked out to the sunset. "And why would she work for Cain if he killed your parents, anyway?" she turned her head around to look at him curiously, hoping she hadn't slapped him in the face with her hair again.

"Yeah, you kinda worried me for a bit."
He gave his own chuckle when she did. He couldn't help but smile as she talked so well of his sister. It was like she knew her, but that was impossible, Anya would've told him if she did, wouldn't she? When she asked why Megs would work for Cain when it was him that kill her parents, he looked to her, his smile gone as he gave his answer.
"Because she doesn't know who did it. I didn't know until two weeks ago."

She hesitated then. "Then how'd you find out? Did Cain tell you himself?" she didn't like the idea of Cain himself coming to tell him. That definitely wouldn't turn out pretty.
But how else could he have figured it out? She couldn't think of anything and turned to look at him. She turned over onto her side and propped herself up with her elbow against the sand. Her legs were still tangled together and it looked rather painful, but she showed no sign of being uncomfortable as she waited for his answer.

Did he tell you himself? the words echoed in his mind. He remembered it like it was yesterday. The meeting in the woods, Cain coming at him and changing to the same material as him. Rock vs. Rock, that's what it was, but Cain...he knew how to control it better. He used David's own power against him.
Without answering, he sat up, reaching down and taking off his shirt. His muscular form seemed almost perfect until he turned his back to her. Ten hole shaped scars, five on each shoulder blade, shown in a circle on his back. When he turned to her, his smile was completely gone, the same scars shown on his shoulders in the same pattern.
"Yeah...he told me himself..."

She just stared at his scars. She had a few of her own, but none of hers were like this. Her smile was gone too, and she looked at him sympathetically. She knew it couldn't have been good. "I'm sorry," she spoke softly, and then laid back down on her back.
She wondered what Cain could've done to him to have scars in that pattern, and she knew if she touched him she could see it for herself. But contact meant something different to everyone else than what it did to her. To her contact just gave her information, but to others it meant something more. She resisted it for his sake. She didn't want to give him the wrong idea. He still had no idea what his powers were, and right now wouldn't be a good time to explain.
She suddenly realized something. If he was still okay, then Cain must've let him live. With those scars there was no way he could've been well enough to still fight against him. So that means Cain must've left him there, alive. "But he let you live..." she looked back at him. "He must've wanted you alive for some reason."

"He wanted me alive so I could deliver a message. He's planning something, something called "The Insurrection". Whatever it is, it has to do with the entire world."
He wasn't at all sure what this message ment or how it was affecting everyone. All he knew is that both the brotherhood and X-Men are joining forces against Cain, and that usually means that there's something worse out there. He looked to her, sensing the curiosity in her eyes. He smiled, having the feeling that her powers and knowledge had something to do with touch, otherwise she wouldn't have guessed he was out for revenge at the mansion.
"Here, you can see for yourself if you want." He smiled, feeling he could trust her. He took her hand in his and let his mind wander back to when he met Cain in the woods. He felt she would be able to see things, he just hoped that she wouldn't be able to feel anything.

Anya pursed her lips when he spoke of The Insurrection. Even the name sounded dangerous, but she couldnt' worry about it too much. The X-Men could always come up with a plan and they usually worked, at least to some extent.
She just stared at him in surprise when he touched her, but then she closed her eyes and saw the visions for herself. She could hear every word Cain had told him, but flinched when he attacked and pulled away from him. She opened her eyes then, "How did you know what my powers are?" she hoped that he hadn't seen her flinch. She didn't want him to worry about her.

He did worry about her when she flinched, but he just assumed that it was due to what she saw. He hoped it wasn't due to what she felt. When she asked him about his powers, he laid down in the sand, propping himself up on his own elbow as he faced her. Did she really think he was that clueless on guessing powers?
"Well I never told you about Cain or how I felt about him, yet after you placed your hand on me you knew why I was angry and wanting revenge." he smiled a bit, "I'm not really sure on your powers, but something told me it had to do with touch then."

She smiled back at him and laid back on the sand and looked up at him. "Is it that obvious?" she looked down for a moment.
"But it's kind of a pointless power. All I could ever do as an X-man would be detective work or something. The only reason they even let me be part of Paragon was because I'm obsessed with my hook swords." She admitted, then smiled bigger again. She did love her hook swords, and was very good at fighting with them. "Because, obviously, in the Danger Room psychometry wouldn't do me any good..."

"Yeah, just a little. But I only guessed it had something to do with touch."
He laid back down in the sand next to her, completely forgetting about all that had happened earlier today and just relaxing in the sand next to Anya. He looked to her and smiled as she explained a little more about her powers and that she was good with hook swords. He never was one for swords, he usually stuck with his fists.
"I'm a hand to hand kinda guy myself." he smiled at her, "But hey, maybe you could be a detective."

She smiled back at him when he said he was a hand to hand kinda guy. "You look like you would be," she nodded, then added, "Most guys are. But I'm way too small to last very long in a hand to hand fight. That's why weapons were invented."
She sighed when he he said she could be a detective. "I think being a detective would be fun for a little while, but I think it would get boring after a while. And I'm sure I wouldn't be very good at it, either," she admitted. "I take things too personally..."
