He smiled as her hands closed over his, and his hands closed over hers. He lived through his memories with her, smiling when she opened her eyes and smiling. Though her smile was sad, he could tell she was hiding it for the sake of tonight. He smiled as he continued to hold her hands, the water not crashing into them as hard as it had before. He squeezed her hands when she thanked him.
"You're welcome. I'm going to help you live out a childhood, so you can actually say you had one."

She smiled back at him and pulled her hands away then. Then she thought a moment and shook her head.
"You don't have to do that. I did have a childhood. I mean, it wasn't as fun as this," she shrugged, "and my powers got in the way a lot when I was young. They still do." She'd sensed from the last moments of holding his hands with him that he'd seen her sadness even though she'd tried to hide it. She was never very good at hiding things. "And I'm not sad because I didn't have a fun childhood," she admitted. It would have been nice to have a fun-filled childhood, but she actually didn't mind it that much anymore. She'd learned to accept it years ago.
She sighed, looking down at the murky ocean water, and muttered, "It's something else entirely..."

When she took her hands away from him, a breeze began to blow, causing him to shiver a bit. Maybe coming out into the ocean unprepared wasn't the best idea he'd ever had. His curiosity grew when she spoke about her childhood, but still hoped that this moment had allowed her to have a little fun in her life. When she looked away, saying her sadness was because of something else, he gave her a curios look, but smiled still.
"Want to talk about it? I'm a pretty good listener to."

Anya felt the breeze too, but she avoided shivering. She looked back at him a moment, and for that moment saw what he was thinking. That surprised her. She'd never actually seen someone's thoughts before, only their memories and always through touching them. Not just eye contact...
"I did have fun," she admitted, smiling as she replied to his thoughts. "And I rather talk about it later. It's kind of late tonight." Another breeze blew by and she couldn't hold back her shiver this time. "Maybe we shouldn't have come here without towels," she laughed slightly, her teeth chattering slightly.

He smiled when she said she did have fun, and nodded an "ok" when she said she wanted to talk about it later. But the surprised look on her face made him a little curious. Had she read his thoughts? Shd didn't even touch him this time. He shrugged it off, laughing and shivering when she said they shouldn't have came without towels.
"It was a last minute thing, my mistake." he smiled, holding out an arm and turning towards the beach, hoping to escort her out of the cold waters.

She saw the surprised look on his face and knew that he was probably suspicious. But he seemed to let it go so she laughed and shivered with him. She smiled and took his arm.
"Next time I'll be sure to bring some," he kept smiling as they walked out of the cold water. She really hoped there would be a next time, and thought he would want a next time, too. When they reached the sand she picked up her really old jean jacket and slipped it on, although it didn't help her shivering very much.

He smiled when she took his arm, his hand placing over hers. He looked at her as they walked out, glad they had such a wonderful night. This had definetly been the best day he ever had, and he hoped there'd be more. He helped her with her coat, still thinking it was about to fall apart any minute, then dusted sand off his feet and put his shoes and socks on. He then smiled at her.
"We should...probly get heading back." for the first time, he wished the night between them didn't end.

She nodded and slipped on her shoes. "We probably should."
She really didn't want to go back, though. She didn't want to go back to all that stress and danger. If she wasn't always smiling, she probably would have been pursing her lips at the thought of going back. She liked all her friends and the teachers, but with this Insurrection thing around, she was starting to dread it. But she'd be able to stand it if every night could be like this.

"Yeah, probably."
He didn't want to go back as much as she did. That place was starting to feel lonely and cold inside. He didn't like how fear seemed to be settling in around everyone, putting everyone on edge and causing some friends to snap at each other. Besides, he was really liking it out at night, alone with Anya

Anya looked at him then, not really knowing what else to say. So she just nodded, looking into his eyes.
As she looked at him, though, she saw his thoughts again. And his thoughts were right. Fear was settling in, and some of her friends were nervous wrecks. She didn't know why, but she was never afraid when everyone else seemed to be. Fear just wasn't in her nature, she supposed.
But then she wondered if David was afraid. She knew he wasn't scared now, with her at the peaceful beach, but she wondered if he was scared overall, like the rest of the students seemed to be. It was easy to find out, she just had to touch him again. But she was already seeing his thoughts and couldn't understand why. She didn't want to do anything else with her powers that night.

If she had touched him, she would've felt that she was right about him. He hid it well, but deep down he was afraid. He was afraid of losing his friends, his school, never seeing his sister again, and most of all losing his home. After being here with her tonight, he was also afraid for her. He felt he needed to keep people safe, but could never understand how.
He didn't know if it was fear, the cold or just the feeling of how the night was going that caused it, but he felt himself getting closer to her. He leaned in, giving her a small kiss on the cheek, but holding it for a few seconds before leaning back. It took him a moment to realise what he did, but a small redness began to form on his cheeks.
"Um...sorry, guess I got caught in the moment."

She looked away after a moment and stared at the sand, trying to decide whether or not is was her powers playing tricks on her. She'd never been able to just look at people and see their thoughts. It sort of creeped her out. That was a telepath's job, not hers.
Anya hadn't even noticed he was getting closer to her, but stared at him in shock as he kissed her. It wasn't just a little peck, either. He kissed her for a good few seconds, and then they both pulled away simultaneously. But during the kiss she'd seen his most recent thoughts, and saw that he was afraid, just like she'd suspected.
She didn't say anything for a few moments, even after he apologized. She'd been kissed before, so she didn't know why this one had surprised her so much. Maybe because the other guys who had kissed her she'd known more than three hours.
She did manage to whisper, "It's okay..."

He was still blushing when she said it was ok and cleared his throat, looking around to make sure they had grabbed everything. He still saw their imprints in the sand and he couldn't help but think back to that moment. He then looked to her and saw the worried look on his face, with a small smile, he placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Hey, cheer up. We'll get through this, every nightmare has to end someday right?"

She nodded, even though that wasn't what she was worried about. She thought a moment and then said, "But things always have to get worse before they get better. I just hope that the worst part won't be as bad as everyone's afraid it's going to be."
She thought a moment, biting her lip. She'd learned that through all the visions she'd collected from people over her seventeen years. That was one of the truest statement she'd ever heard. But Anya was always otpimistic to some extent, and she never ever lost hope.

"Things will get better though, just gotta keep your hopes up."
He smiled as they stood on the beach, looking at each other. The breeze was making him feel a little more colder, and his nose began to twitch. The more he breathed, the more his nose tickled, until he finally turned his head and let out a loud sneeze that seemed to echo along the beach. He sniffled, looking to Anya with a small smile.
"Sorry."
