She nodded, "My hopes are always up."
She looked at him, smiling slightly as his nose twitched. Then she realized it must've been a sneeze and her smiled widened. When he finally did sneeze, she laughed quietly as it echoed down the beach.
She stopped laughing after a few seconds and just smiled up at him, "Bless you."

"Thank you." he smiled and sniffled, "We better head back."
He smiled and turned towards the walk that passed along the beach, holding out his arm once again to escort her. He sniffled once again and shivered, wanting to get back to the Mansion so he can get into some dry clothes.
"So what would you want to do next time?"

She nodded a welcome and let him escort her up the beach. She really didn't want to go back, but she was cold and knew it would be warm in the mansion. She was still shivering.
"I have no idea. Whatever we think of at the time, I guess," she admitted, smiling up at him. She hadn't really noticed how much taller he was than her until now.

"Sounds like a plan to me."
He was always the kind of person to never make plans, that's part of how they ended up in the ocean in the first place. He escorted her along the beach and along the road to the mansion. He didn't realise how empty the night was, and how each star seemed to vanish one by one as they neared the lights. He looked to her, just now seeing that he was taller then her, but not by too much.
"Nights are alot of fun, I love it more then daytime."

Anya never liked to plan, either. She would either forget or change her mind or something. She looked up at the sky and as they neared the city lights, the stars began to fade. She sighed, looking up at them almost sadly, but she still managed to keep that smile on her face. She always did.
"It depends on what your doing," she admitted, looking up at him, then. "And who you're with."

"Well I'm glad I had such great company this time." he said, looking at her and meeting her eyes, smiling in return.
His smile faded as they entered the city. The usual thugs and late night roamers wandered around, some chatting amongst themselves, others staring at the two. There was a part of him that wished he lived that carefree. Not worrying about Cain, the Insurrection, or any problems that the mutants always end up having. Just what to do every night and who to hang out with.

"Me too," she smiled back at him as they entered the city.
She saw the thugs and late night wanderers, too, but didn't think anything of them. If you show fear you'll be giving them exactly what they want. Plus, she wasn't that afraid anyway. She looked straight into the eyes watching them. There was no trace of even being uncomfortable by their staring in her expression. Fear just wasn't in her nature. She still had a small smile on her face.
She knew that he thought she was carefree, but underneath she was far from it. She was going to tell him soon, but not tonight. She felt too good tonight to explain why she wore the carefree mask constantly. Underneath, she wasn't even close to being carefree.

He smiled as she did and just continued walking. He was enjoying her company more then usual, mainly because he found her interesting. Her powers and the way she seemed to be hiding something. Everything about her made him interested in learning more, and wanting to know her better. They continued walking until they had reached the edge of the city, a small side road that lead towards the mansion. He looked up and noticed that the stars were beginning to come back out again.
"It's like they're afraid of the cities and towns."

She smiled brighter as they came out of the city and the stars seemed to smile back down at her. She was enjoying his company, too. And he was right, the stars faded a lot when you looked at them from inside the city. But now that they were out, they were beautiful again.
"Yeah, but maybe that's not such a bad thing." She looked at him then. "That's part of what makes the beach and here so special. The stars are always brighter."

"That's for sure. I love nature."
He smiled and looked at her, their eyes meeting once more as they walked. It was at this time that he was glad he could be able to walk without really looking around. He had learned the roads over time and had mentally placed where he could walk and where each step should go.

She nodded. She loved nature, too, and wished people who appreciate it more and stop cutting it down. One day, when they run out of trees to cut down, they'll regret it.
They'd finally reached the mansion and she stopped before walking in. She was shivering still but didn't want people to watch them like she knew they would. At least, the ones who were still awake, that is. It was dark, so even though she didn't have a watch, she knew it was probably very late. And walking into the mansion with sloppy wet hair and shivering and still dripping even though they'd walked a long way was exactly what would get everyone's attention. She hated being center of attention, but at least David would be the center of attention with her.
"You ready come back to reality?" she looked at him, smiling but there was still a grim look in her eyes. "Come back to all the danger and stress of everything..." she sighed and looked to him.
She'd let him go in first, even though she couldn't feel her toes and was dying to sit in front of a fireplace, and just sit there probably for the rest of the night in its warmth.

He didn't want to be back at the mansion, but walking with Anya made time pass more quickly. They walked up to the door, and he noticed that most of the lights were out, and very few were on. He hoped they wouldn't get in trouble, and when Anya spoke, he turned to her. He didn't want to return to reality as much as she didn't. He felt he had to be strong though, for himself and for her. He reached up, doing his best to help straighten her hair out so she'd at least look less suspicious then he did.
"Hey, nightmares come to an end remember? This one will end soon, I promise. Then things will get back to normal." he smiled, the shrugged, "Well...as normal as a mansion full of mutants can get anyway."

She smiled as he tried to straighten her hair, "I don't think there's much you'll be able to do with my hair," she admitted, waiting for his fingers to get caught in her knotty hair like hers always did. That wouldn't be suspicious at all, she thought sarcastically, Two teens walking in the mansion in the middle of the night, David's hand stuck in the my drenched hair. She laughed once silently at the thought.
Then she nodded when he said it would go back to normal. "I hope so."

"Trust me, I got a knack for knowing these things." he gave her a small wink before turning towards the door, "Here we...I mean...here I go."
He looked up towards the roof of the mansion, and then back to the door. Giving a small humor to the end of the night, he crossed himself before reaching towards the knob. He turned the knob and opened the door, peaking around the corner to see what or who would be awake. Fortunately, the halls were empty at the moment.

She waited as he peered around the corner to see. "Is there anyone there?" she got tired of waiting and ducked underneath his head to see for herself. No one was there. "Of course not," she smirked slightly. "Everyone's asleep... hopefully."
She didn't want to jinx it, but really, who would be awake at this hour? And if anyone was awake, they probably wouldn't be in the main hall. They'd be in their rooms, or watching late night TV, or getting a snack. No need to be guarding the door. No one would want to break in, would they? And even if they did, it would probably be obvious to the teachers if the students couldn't figure it out first. The telepaths would know.
Thinking about telepaths, Anya remembered how she'd read David's mind earlier. That still worried her. Why was she able to do that so randomly? She'd never done it before... and was it a just David thing? Or could it work on other people, too? She'd have to test it later.
