"Now arriving at North Salem Plaza"
The notice over the bus speaker woke him up with a start. Rubbing his eyes he looked around as his vision began to come into focus. His eyes widened at the site, seeing that New York was a lot bigger and more crowded then he saw on TV. It was like he found the source of America's population.
The bus rolled to a stop and the doors opened. Grabbing the bag that sat in the seat next to him, he lifted it up onto his shoulder and headed for the exit. As he stepped off the bus, he looked around at the crowd of people. The long travel from home began to settle in as he realized he hadn't slept since the trip.
He told his parents he would've preferred to take a bus or a train or even drive, but after losing more than one argument, he took the plane. His hate for heights didn't kick in until the plane hit turbulence and he accidentally dented the armrests during the rest of the flight. Thankfully he didn't have to explain that to the stewardess.
Finally he took the local bus from the airport to the plaza, thinking this would be the best place to start looking for...well...a start. The air break on the bus brought him back to reality, and he watched as his ride drove off to it's next destination, wondering if this was a good idea after all. Another look around and he took a deep breath.
"Well, I'm here. Now what?"

Kristy hated the city to many people, she ran around town in a small little kitten black cat form so she whouldn’t get noticed by other people at lest no more as just a just a kitten and not some mutant, as much as she didn’t like people she did hang around areas like the plaza when she was hungry, It was a good idea when she didn’t want to eat garbage to find someone who was clear they weren't use to the homeless bums on the street that dotted the street and would fall for the frist few people to give money to at least or in Kristys case the poor homeless kitty who just wanted food.
Kristy walked around sniffing the air trying to smell the airport on people or the smells of anywhere not new york She saw a man who fit this almost perfect as he hopped off the bus she dotted her way over to him and started to rub his leg acting like she wanted some attention she figured one of two things would happen he kick her or he give into her little trap to her it was worth the risk that and with what she gone threw in her life a grown man kicking her wasn’t the worst that had happen.

He was completely lost in the view of the city. Skyscrapers towered over him like giants of both glass and metal. Planes flew in every direction and he even noticed a helicopter fly by with what could've been news cast channel number of some kind. He couldn't help but smile, wondering what someone had to do to get up so high on a chopper, look down from miles above, and give the report without the fear of dropping from such heights. He knew if he gave it a try, he'd never get off the first few feet without trying not to panic.
Looking up at the buildings made him almost as dizzy as looking at them from the sky down. He shook his head to regain his focus and almost stumbled when something brushed against his leg. He looked down, first thinking something went rushing by him, but instead was greeted with a small black cat rubbing up against his leg. He couldn't help but admire how pure black it's coat was. He'd never seen a can with one set color in a long time. The feline continued to rub against his leg, and he knelt down to scratch behind it's ears and stroke it's slender coat.
"Hey little fella." He said with a smile, "You seem as lost as I am."

When the guy finally noticed her she gave almost a cat like smile and purred a bit he was new and his statement had proved it he was lost in a city where everything is on a grid not that Kritsy could read the grid her self but at lest she figured out form one point she only have to go one or two blocks one way or another. That and the only points she really cared about where her home the park and random places to get food so even in a big city there wasn't much for her to go or do,
She was fine when he scratched behind her ear she even enjoyed it she loved it really but the second he went to stroke her back Kristy jumped out of the way and hissed at him batting his hand way if he would of felt past the fur he would of found long scars along her hole back.
She sat there kind of annoyed that he even tried to pet her back her green eyes looking at him, she gave a small meow almost like she was saying o.k its good just don't pet there , She still wanted food and he had to have some money to buy something on him or maybe some airplane food left over in his pocket.

He couldn't help but smile when the cat enjoyed the attention he was giving her, but moved his hand when she jumped. He couldn't help but laugh when she batted his hand and hissed while she quickly moved away from him.
"Touchy about being touched huh?"
He stood up and stretched, realizing for the first time since he got here that his body ached. He'd been from cab, to plane, to bus without even a chance to relax for more than a minute. He grunted and groaned as he stretched his legs, arms and finally his back. All that stretching relaxed him and caused him to give a yawn. As he stood there, regaining himself from stretching and yawning, shaking his head a bit to get himself back into focus, he heard a small growling coming from nearby. He looked to the cat curiously.
"Was that you?"
Again he heard the growl, only this time he heard it from his stomach. He placed a hand on his stomach, remembering that he hadn't eaten since he got on the plane. In fact, he hadn't eaten since before he even got to the airport. Flying wasn't exactly an appetizing subject, and being over a thousand feet in the air caused him to leave his stomach and appetite down on the ground. Now that he was on the ground himself, it seemed that both had caught up to him.
"Oh." he said with a small laugh, "I guess that was me. Don't suppose you know a good place to grab a burger would ya?"
He looked to the cat as he asked, not expecting the little one to respond.

She licked her paw for a bit as he spent forever and a half stretching her ears perked when she heard the way to familiar sound of a tummy growling she tilted her head and looked up at him then when he asked if it was her she turned to side to side, she may have been hungry but her little tummy couldn't of made that roar.
When the guy asked her if she knew a good burger place Kristys eyes lit up and she jumped a little taking off one way then stopping tilting her head to see if he follow her she knew one , she even had a favorite it was attaculy a burger stand that made really good burgers and they guy tended to not like to share his old food that much. but it was still good and it sounded really good right now If the guy wasn't following behind her she would run back and rub on his leg and bite on his pants pulling then take off again until they got there.

He must've been more tired than he thought. He could've sworn that the cat actually shook it's head when he asked if it was it's stomach growling and not his. Then after his companion shot off when he asked for food, she stopped and stared at him after making it a couple feet down the block. Was he being stared at? Something told him his little friend wanted to be followed.
"Well, I've got nothing else to do today."
Giving a small shrug with his own words, he followed the fast feline to where ever he was being led. He lost his guide a few times, but each time he was lost, the cat came back and rubbed against him or nipped and pulled at his pant leg. After what seemed like hours making his way through the maze that was the main square of new york, he finally began to smell food. The cat had finally led him to a burger...stand? He stared at the metal cart with a strange look. He's seen taco stands, hot dog stands, and even ice cream stands. But this was the first time he'd seen a burger stand. His stomach growled again, telling him that he shouldn't be picky. Giving another shrug at the situation, he walked up to the stand and looked at what was available.

It took the poor boy far to long to figure out that she wanted to be fallowed.
She looked at him tilting her head as he looked at the stand what was wrong with him it was food it was nummy and it was good. As soon as he walked up and ordered she started mewing loadly and rubbing his legs to get him to watch her then as soon as he looked she pawed at the menu where the kid meal was. She wanted a burger she tried being as cute as she chould as she did it tilting her head mewing

"I guess I'll take a double cheese with a cola please."
The cat started mewing again as the man at the stand began to ring him up. After being told his total, he reached into his pocket for his wallet and noticed that the cat was pawing at him and then looking towards what he guessed was the kids meal. Why would a cat want a kids meal? Giving a shrug and a small smile, he looked back at the vendor.
"Add one extra burger, please."
Not knowing why a cat would want a burger and not some cat chow or something, he just shrugged. This cat must've been the kind that wandered the street looking for food anywhere it could. So after a bit of calculating, he gave the vendor the needed amount and took his change. After thanking the vendor, he looked around for a place to sit and noticed a bench by a nearby building. He looked a his animal guide with a small smile.
"Let's go have a seat, shall we?"
Without waiting for an answer, he walked over and sat down, placing the burger on the bench and his own in his lap. He then proceeded to eat, watching the cars and people go by. He couldn't help but wonder if moving to New York was a good idea. There were so many people here that he felt like a car stuck on a highway during afternoon rush hour. He wondered if people in this city actually stopped once in a while and just relaxed.

No dah she didnt want cat food though she chould eat it with out a problem. She purred lightly when he ordered another burger.
She sat there and waighted for them to finish making the food the smells driving her crazy she loved this little burger stand they put a really good seasoning on the burgers and chesse.
As soon as he turned to go sit she fallowed him when the burger got set down she hoped up on the bench and nipped it she pulled off the tommantos and the pickels and then put the bun back on the buger makeing a small purr. The burger was huge compaired to her small little body but she ate it anyway as the guy ate his. She didnt like big towns but it was better then a cage and she rather have people running around then throwing popcorn. No dah she didnt want cat food though she chould eat it with out a problem. He continued to eat and drink his soda, but soon noticed the cat picking at the burger. He couldn't help but notice that it seemed as if the animal didn't like some of the toppings. He wasn't sure why though, didn't all cats like any kind of food? But then again maybe city cats were different than small town cats. Maybe they were just picky because they grew up certain ways. Giving a small shrug, he finished his burger, and wiped his mouth with a napkin he grabbed from the counter.
He then took another drink of his soda, slumping down in the bench a bit and draping his arms behind it. With a sigh he sat there and continued to watch traffic, wondering why it was he came to New York in the first place. A bus, a few cars, and some more people went this way and that in front of him, and his attention once again turned to the cat that was eating next to him. It didn't take him long to realize that not only did his companion take the burger apart and pick off what it didn't like, it then put the bun back on. Is that normal behavior for cats?

Kristy continued to eat the burger she didn't care if the man thought it was odd it was his fault he got the wrong one any way. She wanted the kids meal not the burger why would a kid/kitten want a pickle or tomato anyway they were nasty and she was sure they wernt good for you no mater what people said but she would eat it if there was no other food witch was something she was no stranger of hunger. Kristy ate the hole burger then made a small little burp then mewed at the guy as she cleaned her face. she was happy she had a full meal now and she had someone buy fresh food to. she hoped up on the guys lap and purred lightly as a thank you. she got her self comfy and watched the world with him for awile, she hated people they hurt they hated and there wasnt many like her.

He couldn't help but smile and laugh a little as she picked at the burger. He immediately made a mental note on what not to put on her burger next time. To say he was surprised she ate the whole thing was an understatement. Though he couldn't help but laugh a little when she burped.
"You must've been pretty hungry huh."
He watched as she climbed into his lap, mewing and purring happily as she laid down. At least I made a new friend, he thought to himself. He absently began to stroke her fur, scratching her behind the ears every so often as they both sat and watched traffic and people go by. He sighed, a little bored at the moment, but also disappointed.
"I dunno, kitten. I figured there's be something to do in this town that would help me find what I'm looking for. Maybe I came to the wrong place." he looked down at the animal, smiling a little, "at least I found some good company in this place though, right?"

She nodded a little when he asked if she was hungry with out caring what he thought if it was normal or not to be honest she didn't no to many normal cat behaviors she seen a few a few had tried getting in cat fights with her here and then scene she gotten out of the hell hole she was in-before but she didnt mind she found if she soddenly turned into a tiger or something real quick they ran away most the time that and they didn't hurt as bad as the people.
she moved a bit when he started to pet her again making sure he was clear no back just ears as long as he was nice to them. she made a little purr again as if to say she did enjoy the petting it want to often she got this so she might as well take avange when she could. she looked up and tilted her head when she started to talk to her. he wanted to do something there was lots of things normal people could do play in the park in the day eat food go have friends and he didn't think he could find something to do she only wished she looked normal some days so she could go and do all the things she do. her ears twitched a little as her purr kind of stooped a bit as she looked at him her head still tilted. she rested again when he stooped talking yawning a bit the burger sitting well in her tummy as long as he thought that she was a good person and not a monster she enjoy her little food buddy tell he one got board or got scared or kicked her way.

The cat nodded, or was it a nod? He wasn't sure. When she nestled in his lap, looking at him, tilting her head as if listening, he couldn't help but smile. Maybe this cat was a special kind of animal. It seemed to listen to him and even showed him where to get food. He couldn't help but wonder if there was more to this animal that was first being led on. The way it arched it's back when his petting neared it, obviously warning him not to go there.
"Don't worry, I remember. Stick to the ears and the head. But is the neck ok?"
As if giving an example, he moved down to the back of her neck and scratched gently, then moved back to stroking her fur from between her ears to her neck. When she laid in his lap and yawned, he couldn't help but yawn as well.
"You shouldn't yawn, you know." he said, laughing a little, "It's contagious."
He stretched his legs out a little, being sure not to startle his new companion. He was hoping to find something new in New York, but he never expected to find the company of a cat.
