He smiled with more than a little interest as she unwrapped the starburst in her mouth. When she told him she had a bet, he had a feeling she would be able to win and get the fifty dollars. When she looked up at him again, reminding him that he hadn't introduced himself to her, scratched his head with a embarrassed smile.
"Oh, uh...sorry about that. I'm Tim."
He held out a hand to her, smiling as he did.

She quickly made sure that her hand was gloved before allowing him to shake it. “It’s nice to meet you, Tim. Would you like to take a seat? Have a drink or water maybe?” she knew she would need to pour him a new glass if that were the case. The last person she had shared a water with had almost died. She picked up a red starburst on the saucer beside her and held it up to him. “Starburst?”
Kaia noticed Alex watching them and tried to ignore it, but couldn’t help but to feel uneasy. “So…what brings you here? Besides food, of course.” She hoped to strike a casual conversation and perhaps have someone to talk to while she wasn’t on the stage.

He couldn't help but glance over to Alex, giving her a wink to let her know things were going ok. When Kaia extended her gloved hand, he just shrugged it off as part of her outfit. He decided to take a seat when he noticed the food hadn't arrived. He hoped Alex wasn't beginning to feel alone, but smiled when Kaia offered water and a starburst. Two of his favorites.
"Thanks." he said, taking the starburst with a smile, "I mainly came here cuz of the great music that was playing. Never really tried the food here. You?"

She smirked and shook her head before raising her water to her lips. "If you're hoping to get lucky by brown nosing, it won't work. If you're being serious then, thanks, again. I didn't really have much compotition to get this job. One of the girls sounded like moose stuck in a chainlink fence. I'm not saying that to sound mean, it's true."
Another waiter approached her and gave her her check and she smiled and thanked him before putting it in her bag, only to drop it and send a vile of antidote rolling under Tim's chair. She knelt down, trying to be nonchalaunt to get the medicine.

He couldn't help but laugh when she made the comment about the girl. He had known a few singers like that, and thankfully Kaia wasn't one of them.
"I was being serious, I enjoyed the music."
When the waiter came and gave her the water, he looked around to see where the waitress was with his and Alex's food. What was taking her so long? He was starting to get hungry. He noticed the vile roll out under his chair, and he reached down to get it and hold it out to her.
"Here, you dropped this...whatever it is."

She smiled slightly and pulled a strand of her hair behind her ear and out of her face. “Thank you. Music is my passion. Well, that and politics, but politics piss me off so staying more passionate about music makes me a happier person to be around. I would be going to one of the best music colleges in the states, but I lost my scholarship so I have to work from the bottom again. That‘s why I‘m here.”
As always, she kept out why she had lost her scholarship and her ability to go to any performing art’s colleges. Not everyone needed to know that she was a mutant.
When Tim returned the antidote she snatched it away from him and hid it in her bag again. “Thanks. And I’m sorry. It’s sort of…personal.”

Absently, he pulled a chair out and sat across from her. When she mentioned that she wasn't able to get into any colleges, he couldn't help but sympathize. He gave a small nod, thinking of how he wasn't able to get anywhere college wise.
"Yeah...getting into college can be pretty hard."
When she ed the bottle away from him, he couldn't help but feel a little bit offended by the movement. But when she apologized for the action, he just shrugged it off, thinking she probably just had a problem she didn't want anyone knowing about. Again he could relate to that.

She smirked and shook her head. "It didn't used to be, but things change and crap happens." Normally, she would have said 'shit happens', but she didn't. She wasn't sure if he would be offended by her tongue, which was as foul as a sailor's at times, and not just because it was dripping with poison, quite literally.
Kaia glanced back at Alex and pulled her hair over her shoulder, thinking of where she knew her. Then, it became clear. "I think that girl goes to my school." she thought aloud to herself.

He smiled and laughed a bit when she said that things happened. He couldn't help but agree with her, and when she turned her attention to Alex, his smile turned to curiosity. He followed her gaze to his friend, then back to Kaia when she mentioned the school.
"You go to that school place to?"

Her eyes went wide, partly out of terror and partly out of suprise. Did he know that Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was truly a school for mutants? Was he planning on going there himself? Or was he someone who was trying to sabotage the school? she was unsure so she decided to be wary with her words.
"Possibly. Xavier's School for the Gifted. Lots of kids like me go there if no one else will accept them or try to understand their talents. It's actually a great place."

"School for the...so does that mean..." he almost said it out loud until he remembered where they were, he leaned in and spoke softly, "So you...you're a mutant? Like me and Alex?"
He could feel his heart beating even faster. Not only had he met a with great musical skills, great voice and great looks, but she's a mutant to. He decided to take Alex out for whatever she wanted if this were to work out. Since it was Alex's idea for him to come over and almost embarrass himself in the first place.

When he said the word ‘mutant’ and was talking about her, she was shocked. Mostly because he knew the whole truth behind the partial fabrication that she had created. In her surprise, the mouthful of water she had been about to swallow sprayed across the table, showering Tim and the vase of flowers in between them.
Her eyes went wide and she reached in her bag bringing the vile she had dropped back out again. She rolled it across the table to him and as she spoke, the flowers between them slowly wilted. “Yes I am, now drink that because I’m not sure if I can trust you or not and if I can then I don’t want you dying for nothing. I’m sort of…” she paused when she saw the bouquet of now dead flowers between them. Kaia swallowed a lump in her throat. “Poisonous.”

He was about to say that he was a mutant to, but the words he chose must've shocked her. Next thing he knew his entire face was being covered in water. He looked to her oddly as she handed him the vile, but his eyes widened a bit when the flowers wilted. He was a bit nervous about taking the vile, but when she said she was poisonous, he just looked to her curiously, grabbed a napkin nearby, dried off his face and shrugged.
"How can you be poisonous?"

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Why does it matter how I’m poisonous. All that matters is that I am. You know Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin? Yeah, that’s me, with the exception that I don’t go out of my way to kill people. I go out of my way to make sure that doesn’t happen. Please just drink it or you’ll die. Everyone else has.”
Kaia didn’t understand why he was being difficult.
