"I know, doesn't mean I have to like it though."
He thought about how terrible he'd be at ice skating, but wouldn't mind building snowmen or having snowball fights, especially with Rose around. When she said she wouldn't tell him her ideas, but learning by error being a bad idea, he just shrugged.
"Well guess I'll just do my best."

Rose smiled softly. "I guess so."
She brushed her hair off her shoulders, noticing how long her hair was getting and almost sighing. She didn't necessarily like having long hair, but she liked it more then short hair. With a real sigh, she pulled her hair back into a ponytail, using an elastic on her wrist to tie it back. All the while she thought over what he could possibly be thinking. "Of course." With another sigh, pushed herself off the branch, bored with sitting up there. It was indeed a long drop, enough that if she landed wrong she'd probably sprain her ankle. Of course, she didn't let it be an option, a set of 'stairs' shimmering into existence, Rose lightly stepping down on them. Since coming to the school she'd definitely gotten a lot more creative with her barriers.

He smiled at her when she spoke, but was a little worried when it seemed she was going to leap off the branch. But he couldn't help but be a little impressed when the "stairs" formed. He smiled and stood up on the branch, and within a second was down at the bottom of her "stairs" waiting for her with a hand held out.
"Shall I help the lady down?"

Rose laughed at his actions, grinning ear to ear. "I think not." She made sure to keep her hands out of his reach, though dropped the barrier-stairs when she reached the last few steps, her feet touching down on the soft grass with a quiet 'thunk'. Sure, if she was still with the Nightshades, she would have accepted his offered hand just because it was 'proper', but nothing about their friendship was 'proper', so why bother? If anything, it would make their friendship a little strange if she had to address him in a certain tone.

He acted offended when she took her hand away, but smiled when the stairs vanished and she dropped softly onto the ground. He gave a small laugh and shook his head, raising a finger as if to give her a scolding.
"One of these days you'll let a gentleman be a gentleman. So what's on your agenda for today?"

Rose just fixed him with a 'Suuuuuure', look, eyebrow raised and all, though a playful smirk touched the corners of her lips. "Absolutely not. Not for a while anyway." She fully grinned then, shaking her head. When he asked about her agenda she put on a thoughtful expression. "Hm.... Let's see......." She pretended as if she were 'looking' for a free date in a planner. "Well, it looks like I'm completely free today." She laughed softly. She couldn't help but remember when they had met, he couldn't get her to smile, let alone laugh and joke around. How things had changed.... "What about you though?"

He couldn't help but give a laugh at her look that she gave him, and gave her one of his own as she looked through her "planner", but smiled as well. He couldn't remember the last time she laughed or smiled, but was glad that he had finally gotten her out of the shell that she had been put in by her family. He made it a point to keep it that way. When she asked what he had planned, it was his turn to present a thoughtful expression, extending a finger for what he was "planning" that day.
"Well, I was planning to run laps around the world for an hour, then head to china for lunch, catch a soccer game in russia, a show in england, then come here and run the track without causing a tornado, but......" he stopped and looked to her, "I could always put it off to be with you for the day."

A shell was right. With a family as 'Prestige' as the Nightshades, they had to control the children, and raise them in a way 'fitting' of their way of life. Even if that did mean extinguishing what they thought unimportant, like most emotions. Rose had been very lucky to get out of there as young as she had.
Rose raised an eyebrow when he spoke of his schedule, her arms lightly folded against her chest. "I think that's a little to much for one day. Especially with the time difference. Are you sure you'd be able to do that all?" She paused, smiling softly. "You don't have to if you really do want to go to that soccer game and show."

He smiled when he saw her arms crossed and the look on her face. When she mentioned him seeing the game and the show, he couldn't help but laugh as he walked over and placed an arm around her shoulders.
"Only kidding, Rose. The most I was planning on doing today is just what you caught me doing. Playing catch."

Rose smirked softly, almost laughing again. "I hate to say it but that's sort of pathetic. Playing catch by yourself can't be that much fun." She paused, an expression of intense thought replacing her smirk. "Actually, I don't see why people like playing catch to begin with. All you do is throw a ball back and forth. What's so fun about that...?" She gave him a puzzled look, as if ordering him to explain why people bothered with the activity.

"Well, it's alot of fun playing by myself when I can be at one place then another in a second."
When she asked about playing catch, he couldn't help but find himself in a bit of a problem. How does one explain catch instead of just throwing the ball back and forth. After some thought, he just smiled. He disappeared for only a second, to reappeared with two gloves and the ball in his hand.
"Well, it would be better if I just showed you." he said, handing her the other glove.

A look of complete confusion replaced her expression when he handed her a glove. Why would she need such a funny looking glove? He hadn't used one earlier... And why was it only one glove? Didn't you usually wear gloves in a pair? "Uh.... okay?"
She didn't even know if she'd be able to throw this ball the way he had earlier. She'd never played any sports up until this very moment. She didn't even understand sports! Glancing down, Rose stared at the oddly shaped glove in her hand, noticing instantly that it was made for a left hand. So these types of gloves you had to wear on a specific hand? Curious now, she slipped her left hand into the glove, opening and closing it. Finally she sighed. "I don't get it..."

He rolled his eyes a bit and smiled when she said she didn't understand what he was trying to do. He walked over and helped her put the glove on her hand, then placed the ball in her un-gloved hand. He then put on the glove he had and took a few steps away from her then turned.
"Ok Rose, all you have to do is throw the ball at me, then I'll throw it back to you."

((Heh, kept forgetting to post as Rose XP))
Rose stared at Ian with a 'are you serious?' sort of look. That off course was quickly replaced with a smirk when she realized what he said and a 'if you weren't my friend I'd call you an idiot right now' look. She stifled a laugh as he moved away, having trouble controlling it. "You do realize you just told me to throw it at you, right? Not to." Obviously she found this very funny. "If I threw it at you, I'd probably nail you in the head or something."
She finally took a deep breath, staring down at the ball in her hand intently. "That's if I could get it that far. I've never actually thrown a ball before. My family thought it was unnecessary, so the only one that's good at throwing stuff in anyway is Shadow, but she cheats..." If Shadow were to play baseball, of course she would cheat. She'd just let her mind take the ball where ever she wanted it to go with out even touching it.

He smirked when he heard the laugh. He knew he had made the mistake of saying throw it at him, but the benefit of being the way he was, is no matter where you threw it, he would be able to catch it no problem. He punched his fist into his glove for a bit, then took a catchers stance.
"Don't worry Rose, it's just like baseball. All you have to do is give it your best throw."
