It was like two forces clashing together, one of steel and one of rock, but neither giving way to the other. Cain had swung at David, and David returned the blows, bits of rock and metal flying everywhere.
"You've gotten better." Cain said.
"I'm just getting started." David returned.
Cain swung, his sword sinking into Davids side. David grabbed the sword and begin spinning around, swinging Cain along with him, and before Cain could react, David threw him into the computer monitor. Sparks of electricity wrapped around Cain like a ribbon, his metal body jerking and trying to pull himself out.
"Bet you're pretty "shocked" about that one."
David smirked, not resisting a joke, but his smirk faded to surprised when he watched Cain not just be surrounded by electricity, but become it. Well...that's a new wrinkle. David thought as Cain now shot out and around the room, striking David in random spots, his stone form becoming blackened and chipped with each hit.

Anya's mind was flying. It wasn't their clash that had worried her, it was throwing Cain into the computer. Why would David do that? She knew in the heat of the moment he probably thought it was a good idea, but he should've known better. And the joke was horrible and unnecessary.
Then, the electricity-Cain was filling the room, zapping David and obviously hurting him severely. This was when Anya's quick mind came in handy. She glanced at the hooked end of her sword, it's handle, then back at David as he was being shocked. She wasn't sure if it would work, but she knew metal attracted elecrity. She also recently made her swords' handles rubber, and she knew that rubber and electrity don't fit.
She sidestepped over beside David and put one of her hookswords between him and the electricity. It absorbed Cain's attacks and she was unharmed, thanks to the rubber handles. She had her brother to thank for that idea. So she stood there, deflecting the electricity from hurting her friend. It was much harder than it looked, Cain's attacks were strong, but she managed.

One more attack and he was down, things were starting to get blurry and he was beginning to lose control of his form. As his form started to disappear, Cain dove in for the final attack. But suddenly, Anya was infront of him, deflecting Cain with her swords. He didn't know how she was doing it, but at that point he didn't care.
It made his mind alot more clearer as he thought about how to stop Cain, he looked around until he saw what looked like a copper rod. He smiled, seeing that Cain was now furiously distracted with Anya's swords. He grabbed the rod and ran over towards the computer, driving the rod into the machine. Thankfully Cain was still distracted and with the monitor destroyed, David wasn't shocked, but if his plan worked, Cain would definetly be in for one.
"Hey Cain!" He shouted over the attacks, causing Cain to stand in his electric form, glaring down David, "Come on, loser, one last attack over here. Try and take me down."
He was standing infront of the rod, his body blocking it from Cain's view. Cain let out and angry yell and shot at David, using his entire body as the weapon. Now! was David's only cue as he ducked. Cain couldn't stop, his entire electrical body was absorbed into the rod and shot into the machine. The machine itself, with enough power from Cain, was beginning to overload, causing everything in the lab to short circuit and explode.
"We better get out of here, otherwise this whole place will come down on us."

Anya, despite the fact that she was fighting a crazy villian that most people were afraid of, was actually having fun with this. This was better than fighting those idiot drones in the danger room, for sure. It was a better workout, and more life threatening so it made her try harder. And after a while, it wasn't even that difficult. And it was driving Cain mad, she could tell.
Then she heard David calling him a loser, calling him over to attack him. She looked at him curiously, then saw his thoughts again through eye contact, which was still creeping her out. Then she smirked, hoping Cain would do as he said. He did.
Before she knew it, the machines were overloading. Now that's the David she remembered. Not the one who was accidentally throwing Cain into electricity, but the one who comes up with awesome plans really fast and acing them.
She nodded when he mentioned getting out of there. She pressed the button on her swords again and they sucked themselves back into the handles. It was still dark in the hallway, once they got through all the sparks and light from the room they were in. She'd have to make sure to grab her boots on the way out. Those were her favorites. She grabbed his hand, ignoring the visions, and took off down the hall.

It was a race against time at that point. The moment Anya grabbed his hands and started running, the entire room seemed to literally explode. Fire started bursting from every room, some rooms even caving in. They took off down the dark hall, which was now slightly lit from the oncoming flames.
As they made their way out into the main hall, they were in for another surprise. The smooth crater that was once against the wall was now a hole that was growing. David knew they had to move fast, otherwise they would be trapped inside the building. From the sound coming from above them, it was going to be a big trap.

Good thing she was strong and fast. Since David could only see what little the flames lit up, she was basically dragging him around. They barely avoided the flames shooting at them from all angles. She ran into her boots and stepped into them immediately, which only wasted about a second. Then, ignoring the growing crater in the wall, she ran through the secret entrance they'd come in and toward the entrance.
It was lighter now that they werer out of the hidden corridor, so she let go of David. The visions from touching him were more distracting than she'd thought. She looked around. Everything around them was cumbling fast.

"What's the fastest you can run?"
Things were literally falling apart around him, and that ment things were getting easy to break through. He had enough strength in him to change into his form for a little while longer. He turned towards the door, which was hidden by a couple walls. He changed into his stone form, took a few steps back and charged. Thankfully upstairs was mostly stone and dry wall, so breaking through to the front door was easy.
He burst through wall after wall until he finally managed to make a hole into the outside. People were gathering around the streets by the time he was out, turning and standing infront of the crowd, who looked to him and then back to the building. Whatever they did down there was not only making the building fall, but collapse in on itself. The crater in the main floor was literally swallowing the building entirely, creating a sink hole where the MRF building once stood.

"Um, much faster when I'm not your guide," she admitted. She stared at him, eyebrows raised as he ran through wall after wall. He was tougher than she thought. Or crazier.
She ran after him, the ceiling toppling down on the spot she'd just been standing. If she hadn't moved right then, she would've been crushed. She slid to a halt beside him outside, sighing in releif to be out of there, with fresh air. But then she saw the staring eyes.
People sure gather around fast, she thought. But when she turned around she understood why. Everything was collapsing on itself. Even the front door was toppling over now. "Whoa..." she muttered under her breath.

"Yeah, good thing nobody got hurt."
He looked to Anya, trying hard not to laugh as he gave her a smile and a wink. Of course somebody got hurt, and if he survived that, Cain would no doubt be furious. The crowd started gathering around the crater, David hanging back and letting them pass. He had seen enough of that building to last him the rest of his life. It was then he remembered the main reason they had gone there in the first place, and he looked to Anya.
"Is it safe? I hope it didn't get fried."
He, of course, was talking about the flash drive. It held everything, everything from the X-Men, to the Brotherhood and Nightmares, even groups like the runaways and others he hadn't even heard of. They had literally found the golden chalice of mutant information, and no doubt the key to bringing down Cain if they didn't do it already.

Anya giggled and nodded, her bright smile returning for the first time since she'd laid eyes on Cain. She knew that wouldn't be the end of Cain. "That was too easy," she admitted, still smiling. "Don't think for a moment he won't be back."
She stood beside David, behind most of the crowd, as pulled the flash drive out of her back pocket. It appeared untouched, "Yep, perfectly safe. Just because lighting gets zapped at me doesn't mean I'm going to let anything happen to this."

"Yeah I know, and we should get out of here before he does come back. He'll be furious."
He looked down as her hand went into her pocket and pulled out the flash drive. His smile was bigger than it had been in a long time. He placed his hand over the drive and her hand, giving both a gentle squeeze. He took another look the crowd, who was now talking amongst themselves. He looked back to Anya and nodded his head in the direction of the mansion, then started walking.
"You know, I never doubted you for a second. Thanks for your help."

She smiled and followed him back toward the mansion. The crowd of people didn't even notice them, so they were able to sneak away unnoticed.
"You better not have doubted me," she gave him a friendly glare. "I saved your sorry butt from being electrified." She thought a moment, then bit her lip. "What do you think the others are going to think of this? Even though we got the information, we're probably going to be in huge trouble... unless you think they'll make an exception? I mean, our not-thought-through plan did work."

"Don't worry. I'm just glad you helped me out."
He couldn't help but laugh when she glared at him. He had definitely underestimated Anya, that was for sure. But now he wondered what else she could do, maybe even challenge her to a sparing match later on. When she asked about what the others would think, he couldn't help but scratch his head with a nervous smile.
"I think that will be the most dangerous part of the mission."

She knew he'd underestimated her. Everyone always did. She was tiny, and didn't look like she had any muscle, but really she did. And size never meant anything to her. A sparring match? Is that what she saw in his eyes? Oh, boy. That would be fun, she smirked at the thought.
She sighed, then smiled devilishly at him, "But for the record, this was all your idea. I wanted nothing to do with it. You took me as your captive." She laughed slightly.

"What? No way, you were in on it as much as I am. I tried to get you not to come."
He laughed a bit at her comment, a half smile when she smirked. He could tell she had read his thoughts about the sparring match. From the way she looked, he could guess that she was entertaining the idea. He couldn't help but wonder how that would end up. He could turn his hands into weapons and his body to stone, and she's good with swords and agile. It would definitely be something for the books.
