Max nodded. "Yeah sure, i was kinda hungry." He spotted a chocolate bar and put 2 fingers together and flicked them towards him, the chocolate bar went hurtling across the room and Max caught it. He unwrapped it and took a bite. He looked at Chez and Christy, he was curious but didn't want to be rude so was quite nervous when he asked. "So what can you two do?" He was glad that Chez and Christy was nice but he didn't know if they'd feel the same way after they heard about his sexuality. Most people hated him after they heard and he hoped that Chez and Christy didn't feel the same way.

*Chez was very nervous about the new kid. He didn't really trust many people at first glance. The power only made him put up his guard. He didn't know exactly what this kid was capable of and he was not one to take mutants lightly. He had been on the streets long enough to know that. When the question came Chez looked at Christy. He didn't want to keep showing his. It hurt his wounds that he had gotten only a few days ago. He was sure that if Hazel or Hank knew that fact they would tell him not to use his power until he was fully healed. But he knew that he wasn't going to do that. He had taught himself that if the situation was impossible to get out of in any human ways, get out by using his power. Chez also enjoyed using it to street fight. Unless they group he was fighting has a weapon or another mutant. Then things are different. Still he wasn't ready to trust this kid. He seemed like a nice kid, it was just because of Chez's sercumstance that he didn't trust this Max kid.*

Christy just watched as the chocolate bar flew to Max, and she smirked. This is why she loved this place. The student's abilities were just normal here. Nothing unusual about floating candy bars, not at all. Well, there weren't any plants around the room to show him what he could do, and shaking the earth would only startle everyone in the whole school. So, she just said what it was. But she didn't expect Chez to be as open about it as they had been. He was used to being on the streets, after all.
"I'm the earth and plant manipulator," she shrugged slightly. "It's nothing to special, but it's kind of helpful in combat. Yours looks like more fun, though."
She smiled at Chez then, wondering if he'd be brave enough, or bold enough more like, just to go out and say what he could do. She knew it was easier just to explain. Evaporating couldn't possible be confortable in the state he was in. It looked rather painful, actually. And, not to mention that he had lived on the streets his whole life. Chez couldn't have met many trustworthy people out there. She shoved back her sympathetic thoughts again, and gave a small smile to the two of them.

Max giggled. "That's not all i can do. I can sink into the ground, walk through walls and get hit by a car and it'll stop and i'll be unharmed." He shook his head. "My power is more lazy, i want something and then i can just squint or flick my fingers and i can move an object or person. But i don't like using it against people." Max looked at Chez, he could tell that he didn't trust him so he decided to let Chez talk in his own time. He looked at Chez for a second, he wandered how he would react to his secret, he looked at Christy and wandered the same thing. He also wandered if either of them had guessed or whether they had just thought it was normal. He didn't want to seem different, he walked over to the side and sat on the counter and waited for someone else to say something. He wandered who was going to say something, he hoped that Chez would come to trust him and that Christy will as well but he wasn't sure at the moment. He looked at the clock to check the time and then he looked back at Chez and Christy.

*Chez really wasn't sure what to think of this kid, Max. Christy was just open, that was her. But Chez was definitely not one to start a conversation. He also wasn't going to trust this kid just by him coming closer and explaining his power. Of course this did open his eyes to what life would be like if he decided to stay. He only "trusted" three people. This was a mansion full of people. There were bound to be lots others. Others that he didn't trust. Possibly like Max who seemed to be hiding something. Something that may alter how Chez thinks about him. Or even if he trust's him or not. The kid was rather shifty, looking from one to the other. Also looking at the time. Was he late for something, or was something going to happen.*
*Chez was very unsure about this kid, he looked at Christy. He hoped that she would start a conversation. Or do something. He felt bad that he was pretty much leaching onto her but he didn't know what else to do. It wasn't like he knew anyone else. She was the closets thing to a friend he had in years.*

Christina just looked at the two boys and smiled slightly. Max was an interesting new friend. Walking through walls and smashing into cars seemed way more fun that knocking some rocks and leaves around. And his powers seemed easy to control too, the way he referred to them. Christy's were actually very difficult to control, but after all these years she could make it appear simple.
"It might be lazier, but at least you can control it. I couldn't control mine for years," she admitted.
Since clearly Chez wasn't going to open up about anything at all whatsoever to Max, Christy just guessed that it was up to her to keep a conversation going. Yay... So she turned back to Max and thought a moment. There had to be something she could say to start something going. Maybe she could even get Chez to speak a word. She doubted it though. He didn't trust anyone - not that she could blame him after all he's been through - and he would probably be really shy naturally anyway.
"I don't believe I've ever seen you before, Max," she admitted, picking up a cookie and plopping it in her mouth. Then she pulled herself up onto the table and sat comfortably on top of it, in between the silent, secretive boy and new, curious one. "How long have you been here?"
There was definitely something different about Max than the rest of the students, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Of course, she would never act like he was different around him, not purposely anyway. She treated everyone the same.

Max smiled at Chez to show he meant no hostility, he then turned to Christy who had just sat on the counter and answered her question. "First night. I'm still getting used to this place and all the people in it. But I can't go back to my aunt's, I tried running away but someone stopped me." He looked at Christy and Chez, wandering how they would both react to this. He didn't want them to think he was a freak, enough people were already thinking that. He also wandered about what his counselor said about his secret and how to cover it up until he was ready to tell everyone about it. He hated keeping it a secret but he didn't know who he could trust to not judge him and spread it all around the school and he didn't want to tell the first person he met. He felt kinda awkward by Chez's silence and thought that he should join in the conversation. He also felt awkward because he wanted to tell someone but he didn't know how and didn't want it to be the gossip of the school. He wandered if Christy had been told, being an X-Man and all, he thought that she might have been told.

*Chez listened to the two, kind of feeling bad that he didn't say anything. Chisty was so good with people, well....better than him. He heard the beginning of Max's story and shrugged.*
You better be thankful to actually know your family...
*The tone did sound kind of stuck up, but he didn't know how else to say it. The kid seemed to be ungrateful that he had something that some didn't. Chez never knew any family, never felt the warmth of a mothers hug, the want to have his father be proud of him. Both his parents were only children and all of his grandparents were dead. He grew up in an orphanage and then on the streets, once he ran away. Most people took those few, simple, things for granted, but Chez only wished that he could have had those things. Maybe then he would be less awkward around people. He was good at getting into fights, and finding food that was still kind of good in dumpsters and trash cans. But that wasn't exactly a skill that most people wanted. Come to think of it, parents and family was why he got in a few fights...every once in a while. Most of the time it was because he ran with the wrong crowd or made the wrong kind of enemies.*

Max sighed and looked at Chez. "Trust me, you don't want to have my family as your own. There is only one reason why my aunt sent me here and it's not because i'm a mutant. It's something different, something i have to go to counselling for, it's something that makes me hated, even around other mutants. You'd think that mutants would understand what it's like to be different, yet they still hate me for being different to them. Not because my powers are different or that i'm short, or skinny, or even the fact that my family left me millions to play with. It's still something i have no choice about but many people still hate me for it, my aunt hates it, my sister hates it. I'll tell people when i'm ready but i don't want people to hate me because of that, hate me for anything else, but not that. It kills me to have a secret that can turn a best friend into a bitter enemy, without doing anything wrong." Max looked at his trainers, he wanted to tell Chez and Christy but he didn't want them to hate him because of his secret.

Christina listened to Max's story, about how he could go back to his aunt's because she hated him. And she was surprised, in the good way, that Chez actually said something. Of course, it wasn't the most nicest tone he could have used, but she didn't mind. Anything to make him just a little bit more outgoing was enough to satisfy her. But then Max went into that speech about how he was hated even by other mutants.
Christy, while he was lecturing, took a good look at the boy. When she wanted to, she was one of the best people around for reading other people. She tried not to look like she was staring, and she was listening to every word he said while trying to think of what it was about him that made him hated. It wasn't his height, it wasn't his money, it wasn't his size, so what could it be? She noticed the way he was standing and thought a moment. And then, right as he finished his speech, it clicked in her mind.
She knew what it was, and she gave him a sympathetic look similar to the one she'd given to Chez earlier. "Well, those who hate someone for something they can't control... they're stupid." She rarely called people anything mean, but the judgmental jerks around NYC really bugged her. If she could do it without getting caught or feeling guilty for it later, she'd attack all of them. "You could be a fat, squishy purple alien from one of Jupiter's moons and I still wouldn't hate you."

((Ps. Chez is only staying here because Hazel and Hank are forcing him to stay till he gets better, weather he actually joins the school is a different matter.))
*Chez didn't look at the small kid sympathetically at all. This kid seemed to think he was the only one who had hard times. True, it was hard to be hated, he had the majority of the New York teen population hatting him. That was why he was hear, because he was attacked! This kid was just seeming like a self centered "woe is me" rich kid. What ever this thing was, Chez might be one of the only people to maybe understand. His story seemed to be one of a kind and it was a sad story but it was the only one he knew. Having your parents killed in a car crash that you should have been in, and then going to an orphanage where everyone hated you wasn't easy. Chez had no money and no friends, the closest person he could consider being a friend was Christy, and he just met her a little while ago. That was sad to him.*
Your not the only one with problems kid, so stop acting like it to get attention.

Max looked up at Chez. "Well tell me about yours then. I know i'm not the only person with problems and it'd be good to feel sorry for someone other than myself for once." He hoped that might convince Chez to talk a bit more. He had a weird feeling in his neck when Christy was looking at him and the way she was talking and the sympathetic look. He had guessed that she had worked it out by now. He was glad that Christy wasn't yelling and hating him, if she had found out that is. He didn't want to say anything else though until he was a hundred percent sure that Christy had worked it out and not thought it was because he was short or rich or anything like that. He felt sorry for Chez as it seemed like he barely had enough money for a bar of chocolate, yet alone a proper meal. Max wandered whether Chez would actually tell his story or whether he would just stay quiet and keep a closed body language, Max sensed that it must have been hard for Chez even though he hadn't even heard his story. He didn't want to give him any money in case Chez thought of it as insulting and say that he didn't want charity.

*So now this kid wanted to feel sorry for him. Chez hated people feeling sorry for him. Then all they want to do is help, then everyone knows. This has happened before. People would get so crazy that he would just leave and move far away from that place, and never go back.*
I don't need any more people to be sympathetic. When they know one of two things happen.
*Chez then pulled down the left side of his collar, showing the beginning of a scar on his left side of his chest, Christy and Max could probably also see his very defined collar bone. Chez often had to fix himself back up because he had no money for any doctors, and didn't want any charity. The boy would be right not to offer any money, Chez would be offended and probably leave the school right now. He let go of the caller of his shirt, letting it to go back to it's place.*
I don't exactly make friends easily.
*Chez was obviously too thin for his own good. But all the scares came from fixing himself up after getting in big fights. Some of those fights were because he was different, and they had no idea that he was a mutant, at least a few of them didn't.*
If you only want to know to feel sorry for someone, then look for someone else.

Max sighed. "I didn't mean it as a sympathy search. I really want to know more about you. I'm sure you'll make some friends in time, you seem nice enough to make them easily, just need to be in the right place at the right time." Max saw the scar, he didn't want to release any sympathy because he realised that it wasn't what Chez wanted, he waited for Chez to say something. He was glad that he was engaging Chez in speech, even if it wasn't as positive as he would have liked, but at least it was something. Even if it was only a few sentences and filled with negativity, Max thought that Chez could do with some music to help cheer him up. Add some emotions in and lighten up the situation, it was a shame that they weren't at a party where it would be a lot easier to have a good time than sitting around in the kitchen and not really doing a lot but talking about sad stories. Max could easily imagine Chez in one of his classes and him actually having a good time after class was let out.

Christy sighed after a while. It seemed that these two weren't exactly that fond of each other. But she didn't really know how to break up the tension either. But she could see both sides of the story. Max was the one who was shunned because of his sexuality, so of course he felt bad for himself. But Chez had a point too. Everyone had their own issues, and most of them were worth sympathy. But she couldn't decided which one was worse because they were both so different.
So she just kind of hung back and waiting for the tension to wear off a little before coming back into the conversation. The two boys had to learn to get along without her knocking them both on the heads and telling them to get a grip. If it got any worse, though, she might have too. She hated watching people argue, and technically she could give them both detention now that she was a real X-man. Only she wasn't sure if Max knew that, or knew if Chez even knew what that meant.
Anyway, she sat on the edge of the counter, listening intently to their conversation and hoping that they could learn to get along. And she pretended not to notice's the scar on Chez. If he didn't want sympathy, and he clearly didn't, then she wouldn't give him any.
