He was just about to nod off when his entire body jumped. Why it jumped was because Kaia had shouted out the name of the one cartoon he wished the world didn't create. He tried not to groan about it, so he focused his attention on Kaia jumping up and down on the bed. He laughed a little when she stopped herself, probably thinking she was trying to make a good impression on him.
"Don't stop on my account." he smiled and winked at her, "Just don't expect me to watch the show either."
He gave a small laugh and laid there, watching her more then the cartoon. He still couldn't believe why one of his favorite comedians was the voice of an ignorant sponge that seemed to be liking a squid. He didn't understand cartoons lately, he was more of a fan of the 80's cartoons and television shows he grew up with.

After a while, Kaia discovered that she had already seen the episode, which was imbecilic, even by Spongebob standards. She flipped the channel to the news and quickly changed it. The last thing she wanted to hear about was the body count of mutants across the country. After a few more channels, she turned the T.V. off and caught Tim staring at her. She blushed and averted her gaze to her knees.
She felt her nose itch and she wrinkled it, trying to relieve the itch without touching it, but then she sneezed.
“Holy crap my face exploded.”
She stated to herself as she wiped the spit off her arm with a tissue, catching Tim’s gaze again, her cheeks bursting into flame once more.

He laid there watching the show, which thankfully was changed shortly after. When she turned it to the news, he caught a glimpse of what the weather was going to be like. Partly cloudy with a chance of rain. He sighed inwardly, just what I needed he thought to himself and rolling onto his side and looking to her.
"Bless you."
He smiled a bit when she sneezed, kinda liking how cute she looked with her cheeks red. He smiled and kept staring at her, then moved around on the bed, laying down and facing the ceiling. He placed his hands under his head as he laid there, watching the shadows on the ceiling before looking to her again.

She swallowed a lump in her throat.
“So….are you ready for lights out?”
Kaia suggested a bit nervously, pulling her blankets over her toes and finally sliding her legs under the covers. She would never openly admit it, but the main reason she was acting so nervously was because this was the first sleep over she had had since she was a kid. The fact that she liked Tim didn’t make it much easier either.
She twisted her pigtail around her finger as she aimed her gaze for his, finally meeting it and holding it, a slight smile curving her lips.

"Yeah, I could use some sleep."
He couldn't keep his eyes off of her, especially with the pig tails and her nervousness showing. He climbed under the covers, getting himself squared away so he could sleep. He looked over to her, seeing her twirling her pigtail and smiling at him. He gave her a small wink and a smile, knowing he was having some sort off affect on her.
"Good night."

The night passed quickly an in no time, Kaia was up, brushing her teeth, unbraiding her hair, and dressing for the day. Today was a look just like all of her other ones. All the vital areas where someone may touch her were covered and hidden away, despite the fact that the sun shone bright outside.
Not wanting to wake Tim, she pulled her keyboard onto the bed with her and plugged in the headphones to keep from disturbing him as she played away, her limber fingers moving quickly against the white keys.
The headphones left her obtuse to the happenings of the outside world, something she was grateful for. She loved music. Especially when she could call it her own.

It was happening again, the nightmare he always had. It came every now and then, he would be walking down the road and suddenly see a shadow that wasn't his. He would look down at the shadow, then up towards where it came from. As he looked, he saw a giant green beast that seemed to be staring him down. It growled at him and then charged, Tim turning and running the other way.
The chase seemed to go on forever, Tim not losing ground and the beast not gaining any. Up ahead the ground began to split apart with just enough of an opening for him to jump. The beast was getting closer then, and the ground was opening wider. Taking no chances, and just like before, he tried to leap the chasm, and just like before, he missed. He felt himself falling into the darkness.
In his bed he struggled and turned, fighting nothing as his dream went on. With a frightened yell, he sat up, beads of sweat on his forehead. He stared ahead at the wall, not knowing or seeming to realize he had woken up.

Kaia was still obtuse to the world, occasionally tearing away from the keys to scribble some notes onto a notebook that was wedged between her leg and the bed. Hardly anyone knew that she spoke Russian and occasionally put some Russian lyrics into her music. Most people thought that it was merely jibberish, but it wasn’t. She had lived in Saint Petersburg when she was young, long before she discovered her mutant abilities.
Finally, she scratched a title into the margin above her scrambled mess of notes. Any organized musician would be confused by her method of writing music, but it made sense to her. After she finished writing Ne Me Quitte Pas in the upper margin she proceeded to play the piano again, bouncing slightly with a semi smile upon her face.
She was tempted to start singing, but she stopped herself upon remembering that Tim was sharing the room with her.

He was still in a daze even as Kaia continued to work on her music. The only thing that snapped him out of it was the sudden scribbling of pencil on paper. He jerked his head in her direction, finally remembering that he was in the room with Kaia. His nerves began to calm down, but he was still a little shaky.
He moved the covers off of him and walked into the bathroom. Closing the door, he splashed water onto his face and looked in the mirror. He suddenly saw a green angry face staring back at him, and he closed his eyes. It was just a dream...just a dream he thought to himself, opening them and seeing his sweaty face looking back at him.

Kaia only looked up form her work when she saw Tim out of the corner of her eye when he rose to go to the bathroom. She furrowed a brow at this, for he looked rather out of sorts. She hesitated for a moment before standing and advancing to the closed door. She tapped the wooden surface gently before calling out to him.
“Tim, are you ok?”
Words truly couldn’t describe how matronly she felt, but it seemed inconsiderate to not say or do anything after his mad dash to the bathroom.

"Huh?" he looked towards the door when he heard Kaia's voice, "Yeah...yeah I'm fine just...washing my hands."
He couldn't believe he was lieing to her, after all she had done for him. He couldn't tell her the truth though, at least not right now. How could he tell her that the thing he turned into haunted his nightmares, showing itself in the mirror when ever he woke up. She would probably laugh at him, commenting about "the jolly green giant" making him run away. If she only knew how "jolly" the green giant truly was. He turned off the water, using a towel from the rack to dry his face and hands. He then walked to the door, opened it, and kissed her softly on the lips.
"See? I'm fine."

She accepted the kiss, naturally, but when he pulled away, her brow was arched. She may have been a natural blonde, but she was far from stupid, and much better at reading people than they gave her credit for. She crossed her arms over her chest and stared him down with her skeptical gaze.
“Uh huh. You’re absolutely fine. And I’m stoned. I’m not stupid. You’re not fine. And washing your hands was just a cover-up. I’ve done it enough times to know when to see through it. Now I’ll ask you again. Are you ok?”
Kaia really didn’t enjoy being the fixer of problems, but when she knew something was wrong she would do all she could to help fix it. Some people found that obnoxious about her. She didn’t blame them.

He looked to her as she called him on his lie. He didn't know how to tell her what was going on inside of him, he just figured she'd laugh and tell him not to worry about it. That's what everybody else did, even his friends.
"I'm find, really. It was just a bad dream, that's all."
He smiled, telling her the truth that time. Well...most of it, he didn't want to tell her that it was a bad dream that's been haunting him ever since his powers came about. Even before then, he felt there was something different about him, but he could never understand what it was.

She didn't completely believe him, but she decided that it would probably be best if she didn't say anything.
"Alright, you win. I'll trust you, but if you're lying just remember that I can become acidic."
Kaia smiled up at him and closed the distance between them with a light and tender kiss, pulling away with a smile. "HOw did you sleep?"

"I'll keep that in mind."
The thought of parts of him melting off didn't really sit well, but it faded when she kissed him. He put his arms around her and greatfully returned the kiss. When she smiled and asked him about his sleep, he shrugged.
"Besides the bad dream, I slept pretty well. You?"
