Kaia struggled to load her massive keyboard into the back seat of her car. She wasn’t done with her show yet. All she needed to do was finish clearing her equipment off the stage and then she was free to leave. She went back into the restaurant to collect the cords she had coiled up on the ground and retrieved her microphone. While she collected her cords, she scanned the room to see if she could see Tim. Her heart sank a bit when she didn’t see him.
Parking in an alley probably wasn’t the best idea, but it was free and close. When she rounded the corner to reach her old Honda, a small group of large men were waiting for her return. Most of them called out to her, made kissy faces, and some of them were even bold enough to run around her and play with the hems of her skirt and run off before she could catch them. One of them called her his piece of white chocolate. She was doing her best to stay away from them until one of them sprung out from behind her, a pipe in hand. Rather than striking her over the head, he used the pipe to hold her neck and keep her from going anywhere. His jerky motion knocked the wind out of her and she struggled against him. Luckily, for him, he hadn’t touched her skin. However, before any of the thugs could reach her, she placed her hands on the pipe. She concentrated on how she had mangled Storm’s door knob and in a matter of moments, the fabric of the gloves she wore to keep herself from killing everyone began to melt away and in a matter of seconds, she was free. One of the pieces of the pipe stood in Kaia’s hand and her spectators gazed at her in awe. She narrowed her eyes at all of them and allowed the metal to be devoured by the acid she had learned to produce from the pores of her skin when necessary.
The men all gazed at each other, terrified, before running away from her. Kaia smirked at this, shaking her head. At least they knew when they were beat. She bent over and picked up the cords she had dropped on the floor, examining her gloves, which were now useless scraps of fabric hanging around her wrists. Her gloves weren’t the only thing damaged though. Her skirt had a few rips and tears in them and her hair was a mess. Other than that, she was fine.

Tim had said goodbye to Alex and agreed to meet with her again someday. The thought of joining the school did sound like a good idea, but what if he changed and they saw what he really was? Would they still let him stay with them? Or would they all run in fear like all the mutants and humans did. He was on his way out and saw a group of guys heading into an Alley, and after a quick look around he saw that Kaia was heading in that direction. He knew this wouldn't be good.
He headed towards the alley in time to see a group of guys yelling and screaming out of the alley. He gave them an odd look as they ran past him and away from him, then walked into the alley and saw Kaia standing there in quite a mess, her gloves shredded and, it seemed melted, on the ground as well as what looked like a small metal pipe. He gave a smile and chuckled as she stood there picking up her things.
"Wow...so much for protection."

Kaia heard someone else’s footsteps and exhaled deeply. Didn’t anybody learn their lessons? Before Tim spoke, she executed a roundhouse kick, learned from Danger Room sessions, and hit her target, which was Tim’s head.
Once she noticed who she had kicked in the head, she swiftly retracted her leg and covered her mouth with a terrified and concerned expression. “I am so sorry!” she exclaimed, dropping her cords and rushing to see if he was alright. “I thought you were someone else. I thought you had left.”
She couldn’t deny that she was thrilled to see him again. However, she was not proud of her roundhouse, like she normally would have been.

His smile for seeing her turned into a look of surprise as her leg came up towards his head. He could almost see the stars as his body did a 180 on one foot and fell on the ground. He groaned as he got on his hands and knees, feeling Kaia quickly at his side apologizing to him. Thought he was glad that she was worried about him, it didn't stop his head from pounding like a hammer. As the two of them got up, he shook his head, holding the lump that was beginning to form and wincing in the process.
"I was going to, but I thought I'd say goodbye first."

"I am so sorry."
She repeated.
"Would you like a ride? It's the least I could do after assaulting you."
Kaia gingerly touched his forehead, as if to see if it was in tact, blushing when she met his eye.

He stood up and brushed himself off, feeling her soft skin as she touched his forehead. He took her hand in his, kissing her wrist gently before letting it go.
"I would, but there's no where you can drop me off at. I'm pretty much a wanderer these days."
He didn't want to tell her that his usual sleeping spot was under a bridge or where ever he found it to be comfortable for the night. Often times he would meet a generous person or a shelter he could go into for a while, but these days it seemed nobody wanted him with them for even a few minutes.

She blushed again when he kissed her wrist, happy that he wasn't dead or injured.
"Well I'm actually staying in the city for the night. I have a hotel room and they got my request wrong and gave me two beds instead of one. You can bunk with me for the night if you like."
Before she could stop herself, she was up on her tip toes and her lips were back on his. She was certain that her hormones had to do with the equation, but...Kaia was drawn to him

He couldn't help but feel his cheeks redden a bit when she offered a hotel room with her. He had the sudden image of them in the same bed, but quickly shook it out and decided he'd be better trying to stay in the other bed. He was a little more then surprised when she leaned up to kiss him. He didn't mind it, but he couldn't help but wonder if she'd still kiss him after she saw what he really was. He decided he would be better off trying to hide it the best he could.
"Thanks. That was a nice gesture, and I'd be happy to."

SHe blushed and looked down.
"I'm sorry I keep kissing you. It must be...annoying."
Kaia smiled and motioned towards her car, which was about a crappy as they came.
"Your chariot awaits." she laughed nervously before digging through the pocket of her jacket and coming up with her keys.

"No, it's ok. I like it. I haven't been kissed in a long time."
He smiled as she did, and laughed a little when he saw his "chariot". He walked over to the driver side door and opened it, gesturing inside with his free hand as he did.
"Ladies first, as always."

She bit her lip and blushed when he opened her door for her. However, before she got in, she kissed him again, drawing her body close to his.
"If it's not broken." she teased, laughing lightly before she finally got into the car, fighting with the ignition for the vehicle to start before it moaned to life. She sighed and bent over the middle seat to be sure the passenger door was open before kicking it, granting Tim access.

He smiled when she walked over to him, but as she went to kiss him again, he put an arm around her and returned the kiss this time. When he was sure she was in, he closed the door and walked around to the passenger side. He chuckled when she commented on it starting, and was a little nervous that it wasn't until it started coming to life. He smiled and looked to her.
"So what hotel do you stay at?"

"The Blues House. It's no Hilton, but the rooms are clean and spacious enough."
She pulled out of the alley and finally ended up in the main roads. For a while, there was silence, until Kaia broke it.
"So...you're a mutant....and you're not dead. Are you poisonous too?"

"I've never heard of the Blues House. What's it like?"
They drove on in silence, Tim looking out the window at the sights of the city. He wondered how Alex was doing, and hoped she was able to make it back to that school she kept telling him about. When Kaia spoke again, she asked an odd question and he turned and looked at her.
"No, I'm not poisonous. I don't know why I'm not if you usually kill people when touching them."

She bit her lip and proceeded to think.
"Alright, what exactly is your...mutation? I don't call them abilities or gifts. Some of them aren't."
Kaia shrugged.
"It's not very fancy, but musicians get rooms there for cheap. The owner was once a famous violinist so I think he's sympathetic to others."
