Anya was bored, and had nothing else better to do. She didn't have that many friends back at the mansion who weren't busy. So she decided to go to the beach for a little while. But there was no one there. Shocker, she thought to herself. She kicked off her flip flops and walked along down the beach, avoiding stepping on the sharp shells.
But then a bark caught her attention. She turned around just in time to be pounced on by a wolf-like dog. The dog knocked her off her feet, which was easy to do because she was only ninety pounds, and then began licking her face. She couldn't help but laugh for a moment, at her own stupidity for letting a dog knock her over, and not only that, but the visions she gained form the wolf dog's tongue were quite entertaining.
She sat up, shoving the pink, wet tongue out of her face and ran her free hand across the dog's fur. "Hello there," she smiled at the dog and then looked around for its owner. But there was no one else around that she could see. She just sat there, the dog standing over her long legs and sticking his nose in her face, panting happily.
"That's strange..." she turned back to face the dog again, "Who do you belong to, little fella?"

Oh man, Ayden's gonna kill me.
He couldn't believe his luck today. First a meeting in the professors office about Cain, then losing Faolan when he told Ayden he'd take the pup out on his afternoon walk. He did it partly because Ayden was still hurting, and partly because he felt like a jerk for treating her like she couldn't handle herself. He started chasing the dog down, running as fast as he could.
"Faolan, get back here you mangy mut!"
His feet carried him towards the beach, which seemed colder due to the wind that blew in from the ocean. It was there that he saw his four legged companion, hovering over someone he couldn't recognize under the dog. He walked up to Faolan, grabbing the pup by it's collar and fighting with him to get off of the woman. He then sighed and turned to help the woman up, not recognizing her until he held a hand out to help her.
"Sorry about that." he said first, but then recognized her, "Anya? Hey, where've you been?"

Anya looked up when she recognized David's voice. Her whole face brightened then. Not that she'd stopped smiling in the first place. "Hey," she took his hand, trying to ignore the visions and stood up. The dog just sniffed her and she smiled down at him. "I didn't know you had a dog." She turned back to David them.
Technically, Anya hadn't really spent that much time with David. Just the first day at the beach, then hacking into the computer at the MRF. Other than that, not much. She smiled bigger, glad she got a chance to talk to him again. "What's his name?"

"Hey, sorry about that. He's not really my dog I'm just...dog sitting."
Faolan barked happily, wagging his tail as he stared up at David. David gave the pup a stern look, causing it to whimper and lay down on the beach. Faolan had learned well enough that when David or Ayden looked at him that way, he was in trouble. He then looked back to Anya and smiled.
"His name's Faolan. So how've you been? Haven't seen you much since the building."

Anya truly had tried to ignore his thoughts when she'd taken his hand, but some of his thoughts still came through. She got a glimpse of Ayden and she figured then that the dog must belong to her. She smiled down at Faolan as he whimpered and then turned back to David.
"Um, not much really. Mainly just some training and a few sunsets here," she admitted, "Although the sunsets aren't as enjoyable when you don't have someone to share it with." She thought a moment then. "What about you?"

He smiled when she talked about sharing sunsets. He had to admit that was one of the more fun times he had out on the beach. He helped dust the sand off of her as they talked, doing his best to not make it look like he was trying anything. Faolan continued to lay there, taking their conversation as a moment to bask in the sun.
"Same thing. Training, being with Ayden and Megan, but things are getting weird around the mansion. Like everyone is more tense then usual, even the professor is acting strange."

Anya thought a moment then. "Megan...? Your sister Megan?" Last she'd heard, David had told her he hadn't seen her in years. She smiled, "You found her?"
She nodded then. A lot of the students had been acting different, just from tension of course. "Can you really blame them, though? Not everyone handles this kind of pressure very well."

"Yeah I did. Or...she found me anyway. She actually just showed up the day after our night here."
He smiled, remembering seeing her. It was great to know that he and his sister were back together. His smile faltered a bit when she spoke of the students and faculty being nervous and on edge around the mansion.
"Yeah I know, but what's even weirder, is Ian's acting stranger then everybody else."

Ian. Anya didn't know him, but she knew of him. And she'd been hearing more than just a few people commenting on his behavior. She pursed her lips at the thought. Part of her thought she might be able to help him. But that was the part of her that she didn't know all that well, who was trying to save everyone. The only person she'd managed to help so far was David, though, and his revenge issues.
Anya snapped out of her thoughts then. "What's he doing that's so strange?" she asked curiously.

"Well, reading the paper for one."
Who reads the paper? If anybody wanted to watch the news then they could go on TV. What was even more strange where David was concerned, is Ian doesn't even read today's paper. It was always papers from the day Rose was killed. He was beginning to think that Ian had problems letting go, but it's been almost a month since she died.
"I don't know what's going on with that guy."

Anya hesitated then. "You don't think I could help him, do you?" she said softly.
She was a fantastic listener, and most of the time that's all anyone ever really needed. That was all David needed, other than a line or two about how revenge is bad. And that part of her that wanted to save everyone... that part of her wanted to help Ian so bad she couldn't stand it. But she didn't want to step in anywhere she was welcome. And she didn't even know this guy, anyway. Why did her instincts tell her to do these sort of things? She ignored those thoughts and waited for David to reply.

"What? No, that's not it at all, it's just..." he shrugged, trying to find a way to say what he was thinking, "I don't know what he needs help with"
He sighed, wondering what Ian could be doing that's got him looking at old papers. He didn't even think the boy was upset at all, but if Anya could help Ian out with anything then that would work. He gave her a kind smile then looked over at Faolan, who had decided to come over and join them, sitting at his side and nudging his leg. He smiled, scratching the young pup behind the ears, causing his companion's tongue to come rolling out.

Anya shrugged, expecting that response. She thought then. Besides maybe Charles or another telepath, there was no one else better for the job of figuring out what the cause was of Ian's behavior. She sighed then, but sparked a smile when Faolan's tongue hung out of his mouth in happiness.
That side of her wanted to pry more about helping Ian, but she just ignored it. "I don't suppose you found anything new on Cain, did you?" she knew he probably didn't, but she never gave up hope. She looked back at him then to see if she could pull out some more thoughts from eye contact. Nothing much this time, which only slightly disappointed her. Just a few memories this time.

"Nothing but the usual. I still think we can get him if we use his powers against him."
He continued to scratch behind Faolan's ears until the pup dropped and rolled onto his back. David couldn't help but laugh, kneeling down to scratch his companion's stomach and chest, finding a spot that makes Faolan's leg twitch and working on that area a little after. He always liked making the dog's leg move, it mainly meant he found the spot. He looked up to Anya.
"What about you? Any luck on thinking of who Cain might have a soft spot for?"

Anya sighed. Well, she hadn't really been looking for it. Unless she happened to touch something that Cain had touched before, and if that just so happened to have his memories tied to it, she wouldn't have found anything anyway. And it was basically impossible to come across something like that.
"No. But the only way I'd ever be able to know is if I actually touched him... and I don't really think that's the easiest thing to do," she admitted, smiling down at the dog with his twitching leg. "Not that I want to touch him. I don't even want to be near him..."
