*A smile came to Shakaku's face. Her coloring seemed to be turning red. Well that's what heat to the face does. There was a spot on the back of her head that was also hotter than the rest of her body. That was probably the bump. The throbbing would go down soon. Shakaku took a few steps towards Gisli. Something seemed wrong, but she looked fine and she said she felt fine. Maybe he should go. But why did she grab his hand to stop him. She seemed ashamed of it when she pulled away.*
I slept for a little bit so I'm feeling fine. Are you sure your alright?
*It was new for Shakaku for someone to be heating up for no reason. Or was there a reason? There should be a reason for everything...right? Maybe not. There didn't seem to be a reason why Shakaku wanted to stay with Gisli, or why he had been thinking about her almost none stop for a few weeks. That was partially because he had lots to think about but still....it's the fact that she was always in his head. There seemed to be no reason.*

For some reason, Gisli almost wanted to get mad at him, so she’d have a reason to go run and hide until her blushing went down. But… Man that was so childish! Why was she having this kind of reaction?! Again, she was still in denial. No way in hell. Shakaku wasn’t even her type!
…Right?
Gisli had never actually gone out with anyone before, so how was she supposed to know if he was her type or not? Great… Not she didn’t even know what kind of guy she wanted! That only made these feelings even more confusing!
“That’s good. No more passing out in the hall.” She tried to smile, but noticed that worried expression still on his face. For some reason… It made her heart skip a beat, her throat locking in her throat. Why… Why was he giving her that look?! What was she supposed to do?
Finally she was able to get that smile out… And before she was even knew what she was doing, she leaned forward, hesitatingly giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. That wasn’t that bad, right? It was a friendly gesture! A sign of gratitude. “Thanks, but I’m fine. Really.” Somehow she’d managed to control a little of the blushing, taking a few steps back , so the open doorway was between them again.
Shit. What had she just done?! It was as if reality suddenly crashed down on her right then. She’d just kissed him! Sure, it’d only been on the cheek, and it’d been meant to sort of… point out how sweet he was being… But still! How was he going to react?!

*Strong, hansom, considererate, good at reading others emotions, understanding, nice. These were characteristics that Shakaku thought would be in the perfect guy for Gisli. But he didn't have all those characteristics. So he couldn't be the one. Why was he feeling this way?*
*So Gisli wasn't getting a fever, could it be. Body temperature rose when your heart raced. She wasn't scared of him...could it be that she liked him? But why would she like someone like Shakaku? Then came the kiss...the kiss. Shakaku had to fight the erge to grab her and hold her in his arms. Was was happening? Did Shakaku like Gisli? He could feel his temperature rising, he instantly lowered it back to normal.*
Gisli...
*He took a few steps forward, not sure what to do. Shakaku thought that he more or less understood what was going on now...more or less. But was it true? Did she feel the same...as he thought he did.*
...what do you think of me? How do you see me?
*He had to know. If she said that they were just friends, or something like that. He would leave it be and bury his feelings. He didn't want to ruin a good friendship just because of some stupid feelings.*

Shakaku’s reaction… She wasn’t at all sure what she was supposed to do to now… The look he was giving her was impossible to read, as if he wanted to do something but stopped himself. Great, he probably wanted to run off and never speak to her again. She’d ruined everything! She just knew it! The way he said her name though only made her breath catch in her chest again. What the hell?! Why wasn’t he leaving as quickly as he could? Why was he stepping closer?!
That blush was back, but when he spoke again… When he asked her what she thought of him… She froze. What? Why was he asking that?! Did he think she liked him? Okay, she just might like him, but he wasn’t supposed to know that! What was going on right now?! Slowly a deeper blush touched her face, darkening by the second. She didn’t want to answer! She couldn’t answer!
“I… uh…” Gisli really did look like a deer in headlights, eyes wide in shock and face as red as possible. How could she answer those kind of questions? She was at a complete loss of words! Why was Shakaku having this kind of effect on her?!

*The wide eyes, the red face. Did she like him. No. That couldn't be it. She was just afraid to tell him the truth. Afraid....just like everyone else. Shakaku thought that she was different. She was unable to answer. He shouldn’t have even asked the question. It was stupid to ask it in the first place. She would never have feelings towards Shakaku. No girl would want to be with him….right?*
Forget it…
*He turned and started to walk away. He didn’t want to deal with this anymore. He knew her answer and he knew how she felt. She was no different than anybody else. He was stupid for thinking that she would be any different than his other ‘victims.’ Everyone who knew his face feared and hated him. It was a sad fact of life. Why was he even thinking this way? He didn’t need anyone. All he needed was himself and Furai. Occasionally Kaitou, but that was different. They were best buds. Partners in crime. And so on. Kaitou never did anything bad, just a prank here and there. Shakaku did die down what he did to have fun with his friend. Their pranks got pretty elaborate and fun, well for them.*

Wait… Why did he sound like he thought she hated him? She didn’t hate him! It was the complete opposite! Why was he jumping to these conclusions?! Did he really think she was that shallow..? Or… Was he just so used to the reactions that he was instantly assuming he knew why she was so nervous? As he turned to leave though, she felt her heart sink. She didn’t want that!
“Shakaku…” Gisli stepped out of the doorway, chasing after him as quickly as she could and grabbing his arm. She didn’t force him to turn back towards her though, even if he did he’d only see her gaze low. For some reason his reaction seemed to have broken her out of her shellshock. How it happened was a complete mystery though. “I don’t… I’m not…” She wasn’t sure what to say, to put her feelings into words. She didn’t want him to think she hated him! But… She wasn’t outspoken! How was she supposed to tell him that she liked him without embarrassing herself beyond belief? Not only that, she was absolutely positive he didn’t feel the same way! If she told him… She’d completely ruin everything! But… He wanted an answer, even if he’d told her to forget he asked…
“… I like you…” Her voice was barely above a whisper, probably barely even audible to him.

*Shakaku was sure that it was over. Now that Gisli hated, and feared him. But wait…why did she call out his name? Then she grabbed his arm. He didn’t turn back, why was she keeping him here? He knew that she was shy but he wanted and answer. Her voice so innocent, so soft, it almost made him feel bad that he asked. But then he heard it. Or was it just his imagination. Had Gisli just said that she liked him? Shakaku’s eyes widened. Did she really say that? It was probably just for being friends, I am one of her only friends.
Well I think that I…I… naresome.
*He couldn’t come to say it in English. The work pretty much meant “beginning of love.” There were other words to phrase it but the English words just weren’t there. True Shakaku was raised Bi-langual but he spoke Japanese more, at least he thought he did. Why was this so hard? He turned to face Gisli, his expression calm and kind. A very rare site indeed. But since he didn’t know how to say it, he would just have to show it…but how? Shakaku had never been good at being nice, or kind, or friendly. To put it bluntly, he stunk at it.*

Gisli was completely frozen as she waited for his reaction, any sort of reaction. Each second if nothing that passed only terrified her even more, to a point where she just wanted to run off and hide and forget what she’d just said. Why had she told him?! She’d just ruined everything, she was sure of it…
When he finally responded, she wasn’t really sure what it was he actually said. Most of it had been English, obviously, but he’d done that weird habit of his, and used only one Japanese word. Why did he always do that? Did he even realize how hard it was to know what it was he said when he did that? A few moments passed and he’d turned to face her. Half of her told her to keep her expression low, as if afraid of what look he might be giving her. Finally though, that other half somehow reassured her enough that she slowly lifted her gaze. She was obviously hesitate, and when she finally was looking up at him…
Why was he giving her that look? She’d never seen him give that look before! Especially to her! Once again, her breath and voice were trapped in her throat…

*Shakaku let out a sigh and ran his fingers in his hair and down the back of his head, which was when he squinted. He also let a small grunt out. That was right, he had gotten whacked in the head so many times that it was bruised.*
Dang witch...
*He muttered under his breath. That spot was going to hurt everyday for quite a while. But maybe it was a good lesson…even if he had no idea what that lesson was. But he had to get back to Gisli. He looked back down at her. She was kind of….cute…*
Gisli…what I mean is that I….I….like you…too
*At least he thought he did. She was a good friend and he felt stronger about this friendship than he did about any others. It was different. Almost completely different. What would happen now….only God could tell. Shakaku was almost at a loss for words and now Gisli was going to think he was a dork or something. Baka! Bakamono! Why was he so stupid! He was such and Idiot! Bakabakashii It was so ridiculous that he would think that she could fall for him. Well it was to late now. What ever happens would happen, and there was nothing that Shakaku could do to stop it.*

What was he talking about now? She couldn’t even make out what he said, but it sounded like he was annoyed about something. Great. Just perfect! He was probably cursing his luck! Who wanted a girl like her liking them anyway? She couldn’t even converse with people she didn’t know! It wouldn’t surprise her if he just ran off and never spoke to her again. Maybe that’d be a good thing though. She’d have to get over these feelings somehow!
Gislli was fidgeting a little now, shifting her weight from foot to foot, as if unable to stay still. She was nervous, most definitely nervous, she’d confessed after all! Who’d be completely calm in this situation after all?! Most the time she wasn’t even able to bring herself to even breathe! Great, she was probably going to suffocate herself and end up fainting or something. That would be completely brilliant on her part…
Her eyes went even wider though when she heard what he had to say next. Wait… He… Was confessing back?! That wasn’t possible! He couldn’t like her! She wasn’t his type! She was to quiet and shy and bashful! Finally though… She blinked, her shock still visible. “D-Did you just say….” A short pause, as if unable to find the right words. Finally she just settled on the first thing that came to mind. “Eh?”

*Shakaku could sense that her heat was rising. Was she not breathing? Girls were so strange. He waited for her response, keeping a tab on his temperature, and the temperature around him and her. She was getting quite warm. Did that mean that she was happy? Or something else?*
*She could barely speak as it was; now she seemed to be even more pulled back. Dang girls were so strange. Maybe bipolar was a better word. Shakaku pulled his hand up and gently placed it on Gisli’s forehead. It wasn’t that hot, but her temperature was still hotter than the average human. Average for her as well.*
Are you sure that you’re alright? Your temperature keeps rising…
*He didn’t understand this feeling. The look on Gisli’s face…what did it mean? Did it mean anything? Maybe it was something that Mairead could talk to him about. Or even Freya. He now felt closer to Freya. They had lots in common and he felt like he could go to her for almost anything. But that look on Gili’s face…it just made him want to change. Not to mention the talk that Freya gave him. But he didn’t want to hurt Gisli, especially Gisli.*

Gisli was breathing… A little. Enough that she wasn’t passed out quite yet. If she had been completely holding her breath she would have fainted by this point. She did feel lightheaded, really lightheaded, all because of her holding her breath, or most of it. Finally though she forced herself to take a deep breath, almost sighing. Why wasn’t she remembering to breath?!
When he touched her, a hand on her forehead, her face flushed even more. He’d notice the instant jump in temperature. Sure, he was only touching her because he was ‘worried’, but he didn’t seem to realize just why her temperature was rising. Why she was blushing so much. Curse these men! Why were they so dense?!
“You’re dense.”
Again, she’d managed to force herself to breathe again, to try and calm her nerves. She almost wanted to pull away, just because he was being so dense and couldn’t make the connection. Because she wanted to figure out how to breathe again without having to think about it. Why was he having this affect on her? Okay, breathe again…. Don’t knock yourself out! No passing out! Not in front of Shakaku! She’d never get over that! Not to mention he’d really think she was a freak!

*Shakaku pulled away after a little bit. Did she like him that much? Was he having this effect on her? Then she called him “dense.” Was he dense? Or was it that his mind just wouldn’t let him figure things out. She was looking quite pale. But he trusted that she wasn’t sick. Then something that Freya said popped into his mind. ”When your angry, depressed… passionate… Can you control yourself?” Because Shakaku was a pyromancer he was able to control his heat, but normal humans couldn’t. Was one of those the answer to why Gisli was so… hot? She wasn’t angry with him. She had just told him that she liked him. Was she depressed? Or did she really like him more than she said?*
Is it…
*His eyes opened wide. He thought he had it, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Did she love him? A better question: did he love her? With these thoughts his temperature did raise a little. Realizing it Shakaku lowered it back down to its normal temperature. It was harder than it looks when you’re in this predicament. But he wasn’t the type for Gisli…Right? She deserved much better than a destructive land mass that couldn’t even make a normal friend.*

Why the hell did guys have to be so dang dense?! She didn’t want to be even blunter then she’d been before! Of course she was almost feeling feverish! She wasn’t breathing most of the time, she’d just made the biggest fool of herself possible, and to make it worse it was in front of the guy she had feelings for! Why was he making it more difficult than it had to be?!
His silence didn’t help, as expected, Gisli fidgeting still, until finally he spoke. Had he figured it out? Or was he just guessing? God, why did it have to be so difficult?! She almost wanted to hit him, maybe knock the answer into his head. Why couldn’t a guy figure out why a girl was blushing like this? Why couldn’t they figure out that they were the ones having this affect on the girl? And why did he instantly think she was still sick when she’d already confessed! He knew how nervous and shy she was! Did he really think she could say something like that and not have a reaction like this?!
With some effort Gisli managed to give him a glare, as if scolding him for being an idiot, but the bright red color to her cheeks was still there. She didn’t say anything though, because she was sure she’d go running if she embarrassed herself even more…

*That was it. The look that…kind a…that Shakaku knew most from Gisli. She was always glaring at him. He was always doing something “wrong.” That glare knocked him back. So he was right. He smiled mischievously, as if to tell her that he got it. He stepped closer, as if to taunt her. She was kind of cute when she was blushing. He loved to see her smile. But that probably wasn’t going to happen right now… But to spite it Shakaku wrapped his arms around Gisli. He crouched down to whisper into her ear.*
I’ll be here for you Gisli…
*He then moved his arms from her and turned away. He thought he should leave on a “high note.” He didn’t want to, but he was sure that Gisli needed to breathe more than she wanted to be with him. It was a sad thought, but he cared about her and didn’t want anything bad to happen to her. It pained him to leave. But he wouldn’t show that. Why did he care so much for Gisli? So much that he wouldn’t be selfish and stay. He stopped in his tracks only for a second.*
…always
*He then kept walking, fairly slowly, he didn’t want to go. But it seemed like the best thing at that moment.*
