Jean turned around to see what appeared to be a young teenager standing there speaking to her. She thought that all of the students had been sent away from the mansion or in the panic rooms but obviously she was wrong. Or was she? This girl seemed to know a lot more and didn't seem to be scared. Her mind was somewhat blank and Jean couldn't get a good read on it. She was also distracted by Victor Creed in front of her an trying to get him out of here. But this girl seemed like she wanted to know who Victor was looking for. To be honest Jean was curious as well.
When Jean turned back around Victor came out of nowhere and tackled her. The wind was knocked out of her and they went sliding across the floor. They hit the wall hard and Jean suddenly got scared. Her scars itched from the contact telling her that he was the one who had given them to her. She looked up at him as he said something about screaming. Her body felt dirty then as she thought about what he meant.
She felt his claws dig slightly in her shoulder and opened her mouth to cry out from the pain. They weren't too deep but deep enough. His hands were on her and holding her down. She was going to die right now. That was when the fire came back into her mind. She felt it seeping through her whole body as her mind started to get dark and the flames started to take over. Her eyes opened and they blazed with the fire of the Phoenix.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All Phoenix could remember was the look in Victor's eyes as she closed them then it was all darkness. Darkness surrounded her and she felt like she was in a cell again. Was this death? She figured it was but she had never known death this personally before. She had killed so many times before and had seen death first hand but had never actually died. It was an odd feeling if any. She lived in the darkness for quite sometimes and only had one incident where she felt alive again for a split second and then it was all dark again and she was back in her cell.
Now however she felt that light again. She felt the fire and she could swear that she heard Victor's voice and felt his claws on her skin. It couldn't be possible but it felt so real. The Phoenix pushed forward with that fire trying to get to Victor. Trying to make out what he was saying. Her shoulder started to throb with a dull pain but as she got closer the pain got stronger until she opened her eyes and there he was. Covered in blood and obviously angry but he was there and....trying to rip hr shoulder out! She pushed with her powers and to her surprise they reacted instantly and with full strength as she sent him flying across the hallway and into a wall.
"Goddamnit, Victor! I do have a need for that shoulder you know. You always had a tendency to get too rough sometimes. Wait.....where's Fallon? Victor, where's our daughter?"
Phoenix looked at him as he was on the floor of the hallway. She didn't even notice that she wasn't in her usual body. She didn't notice the red hair that fell around her shoulders or the lab coat that hung around her body. She was too concerned with her daughter to notice that she was again in Jean's body while Jean was locked behind a wall again trying to get out.
As stated, Phillipa was easily ignored. Victor Creed didn't seem to mind her nosing about at all. But when you spent hundreds of years mastering the art of simply disappearing, you tended to get very, very good at it. So, it wasn't to surprising Victor ignored her presence all together. Of course, Jean couldn't. Not after calling her out like that.
Victor took advantage of this moment of distraction, tackling Jean to the ground. Not the intention, but oh well. Pippa simply sidestepped out of the way, not fazed in the least. She stared down at the pair as Victor sunk those vicious claws of his into Jean's shoulders. Well, at least she tried to warn the woman. Oh well. Pippa took a few more steps back, leaning against the wall as she waited for the attack to be over. She didn't really care, her attention was focused more on who this 'she' was.
Things didn't seem to go Victor's way though, because suddenly, Jean was different. And Victor was having a flying lesson. She looked up from her nails, which she'd been examining in her boredom. "Well, that's interesting."
Victor felt the wall against his back hit him before he slid to the ground. He growled and moved to his feet and was about to charge at her again until he realized who it really was. Phoenix? Well wasn't that funny. Apparently you really couldn't kill a phoenix.
Victor paused for a moment as he stared at the woman that now controled Jean. "Fallon?" That was the name she came up with? He smirked slightly then turned to go back to what he had been doing before he was so rudely interupted. His nose was put to work again as he followed the scent of the blue man mostly. It was easier to follow and there was something wrong with the baby's scent. It wasn't right. So the doctor was the next best thing, even if the kid wasn't there then at least he could rip that man's throat out.
And that smell led him forward until he found that panic room. Funny how panic rooms were so well hidden. Even funnier that his claws could rip through steel like butter. And that was exactly what he did, unfortunately that steel was several inches thick and it was going to take a few more minutes to get through it.
Phoenix watched him as he stood up from being pushed into the wall. For a second she actually felt bad about it. But then again she knew he could handle it it was nothing more than a bump to him. She heard him say their daughter's name in a questioning way. Of course he didn't know. She hadn't told him about the name she had chosen. She had thought that they would have had more time to talk about it. But knowing Victor she thought that he really wouldn't have cared. He usually left the baby stuff up to her. The only thing he really had done was make her the crib.
But the sound of his voice sent chills through her. She thought that it was the last time she would have heard it. She thought that she had died. She wondered how she was here. Looking down at herself to see how bad the damage was she was surprised to see a white lab coat. Pulling some of her hair into view she sighed. Of course she was back in Jean's body. They must still have had a connection when she had switched bodies. Well she would have to have find a new body once they got her daughter back.
Phoenix followed Victor as she watched him. He would find her. He had to find her. If not she would tear every inch of this place apart herself just to find her. They stopped at a steel door which she knew as the panic room. She would kill that doctor and all of the X-men. She knew that they would take her daughter. Looking around she saw a young looking girl standing there looking bored.
"Who the hell are you?"
Phillipa really was bored. This little side show wasn't holding her attention at all. No, she wanted to know what brought Victor Creed here on a rampage. What was so important had he literally stormed the castle, single handedly. Though, the not-so-Jean mentioned a daughter. Well, what a surprise.
She'd gone back to examining her nails, waiting for something else to happen. She didn't have to wait long, Victor was one the move again. She shrugged away from the wall, moving to follow. He stopped in front of a steel door, trying to take a figurative bite out of it. Brute force wouldn't work, not quickly. "You know, there are easier ways of getting inside. Well, maybe not for you. Say please, and I'll tell you what's in there."
Pippa was smirking, and was still smirking when not-so-Jean snapped at her. She slowly turned her head to look at the woman, her gaze hardening. "Better question. Who are you. Don't take me for an idiot. I know who you are. Or in this case, aren't." She paused, smirking a little darker. "How's bleeding out feel? Need medical attention yet?" All the while, she kept her mind blank, thinking only about the words she spoke, and the words she heard. Never straying, so nothing.... incriminating could be 'overheard' by the annoying telepath.
He growled as the feeling of his claws dragging against the steel was getting a little annoying. He heard Pippa and her voice was getting annoying as well. Like the conscience he never wanted. "I already know what's in there." Another growl came from him as he managed to claw a good hole into the door. He reached his arm in there only to yank it back and reveal the already healing burned skin of his arm. Damned fire mutants.
He growled and reached back into that hole without even really doing anything productive just wildly searching for something to grab and rip off. Unfortunately they seemed smart enough not to get that close. That just meant that he had to start ripping through the door again. Like a dog trying to get at a rabbit as soon as the hole was big enough for him to get through he was through it.
But there was one problem...and that problem made him roar while grabbing the little pyro that had tried to keep him at bay. The kid was pinned to the wall by the neck while he glared at him. "Where is the doctor?" Victor could have sworn he'd be in this room and now that he wasn't? Victor was more pissed off than ever now.
Phoenix looked at the girl in front of her with her smart mouth. It made her raise her lips in a snarl and want to rip her to shreds but she had better things to do right now like find her daughter. Victor was busy ripping into the steel door. She watched his claws rip through the steel like butter. Looked back at the girl again when she mentioned bleeding out Phoenix looked down at Jean's shoulder. As much as she would have loved to let this woman die she was still occupying her and had not found another body yet. She lifted her hand to her shoulder and let the Phoenix Force travel to it. When she pulled her hand away the shoulder was fine.
"I, my dear, am The Phoenix."
She looked back at Victor as he pulled his arm back burned. The smell of burnt flesh reached her nose but it didn't phase her. Once the hole was big enough she watched him burst through within seconds she was following him. They needed to find Fallon. She wanted her baby and she would kill anyone who got in her path. She looked around the room at the many faces but did not see the doctor or her child. She turned around looking more but they were nowhere to be found. Victor was screaming at the pyro who had burned his arm. Some of the older students started running towards them trying to be brave and attack them. Phoenix turned around with a snarl and a yell as she raised her hand and within seconds they were all disintegrated. She turned back to Victor with fire in her eyes and a snarl on her face. Her body was shaking with rage and her powers emanated off of her like a heat wave. She screamed in frustration as she killed more students looking back at Victor.
"Where is she?!?! I told you to take care of her!! You promised me, Victor!!"
Phillipa couldn't help but chuckle a little. Stupid idea. It was like sticking your hands in a vipers nest, hoping they didn't bite you. But, it was a known fact Victor Creed was a masochist. As he took his frustration out on the door, she looked back at Jean, or as she called herself 'The Phoenix'. "Oh. You're that little parasite." She made it sound like there was a bad taste in her mouth. Like she was disgusted just to be speaking to this woman.
She finally returned her attention to Victor who had gone into an even bigger rage then before, now wailing about a 'doctor'. "Are you done having your little hissy fit yet?" She looked bored again. Only, a moment later, the Phoenix seemed to have realized what was going on and started wailing like a banshee. Pippa stuck a finger in her ear, as if convinced the screams would deafened her otherwise. "You two really are the perfect couple. Matching lungs. But I'm pretty sure all this screaming won't actually do any good."
Pippa was considering leaving at this point. If only for one reason. This little hunt wasn't going anywhere. The two were overly emotional psychopaths, who, at this moment, weren't capable of any higher intelligence.
Victor growled as he held onto the kid's neck, trying to get him to tell him where to doctor had gone. And then...she said what she had said. Why did she say that? Did she really think he was tearing down steel walls for the fun of it? His frustration tightened the grip upon the boy's neck until he snapped it completely. And that was before he got anything out of the boy too. A loud growl came from him as he threw the useless body away from him.
Wasn't that strange? That this girl knew who Phoenix was? But in the end it didn't matter. Victor was back out of the room and roaming down the hall, lab room after lab room was destroyed as he tried to find where the doctor had gone. How could he lose the blue man again?! He didn't care what Phoenix was going to do but he had been working upon his own plan. Granted his plan was a little unfocused at the moment given that he was just pissed off right now. If this ever lasted long enough to let him cool down then the logical part of him would be able to set out a plan. But for right now he was satisfied with smashing the place and tracking down the scents of that doctor and his daughter.
Phoenix watched him snap the boys neck as he growled. She got a sick satisfaction from the sound of the boys neck breaking but she was still pissed off at him for letting the doctor run away with their daughter. How could he be so careless with her? He had promised her when she was dying...well thought she was dying. Her rage didn't let her see the actuality of it all though. She didn't see how frustrated he was about not finding their daughter. She didn't see that maybe he was too grief stricken when she had died to notice the Doctor running away with Fallon still wrapped in blankets. She didn't see why he was tearing the mansion apart trying to find them and get her back to them. She didn't see any of that she just saw her rage. When she calmed down she would see it all but right now she just wanted to find her.
She looked over at the girl who was still there like a thorn in her side. She was rather irritating and she was not making Phoenix's mood any better. She was making it worse actually. She was like nails on a chalkboard right now and Phoenix wanted nothing better than to tear her limb from limb but she had more important things to worry about. She glared at the woman as she followed Victor out of the panic room and helped him look for the Doctor.
"Victor we can't keep tearing up every inch of this place. Its taking up too much time. We need a plan..."
Of course Pippa knew who ‘The Phoenix’ was. She’d lived a long time, after all. You tended to learn a thing or two when your survival was at state. She wasn’t an expert though, her knowledge rather limited in the area. Mostly because she had no real interest in knowing anything about the Phoenix. So, what she did know was, while immensely powerful, the Phoenix was a parasitic life form, forced to use another person’s body just to survive.
So, with that in mind, Phillipa honestly didn’t care. She just leaned against the wall, watching Victor continue his little tantrum, and periodically looking and Jean/Phoenix. The student body was officially down by… What, ten? Hard to count when one of the ‘villains’ felt the need to disintegrate all of them. Pippa didn’t keep her mind blank, mostly because it wasn’t like anything she said would make a difference.
If anyone asked her, she would have called them out on this stupid plan, but Phoenix beat her to it, sort of. Pippa stared at the woman for a few moments, before snickering. ”Here’s an idea. Why not stop screaming, and bringing the entire X-mansion staff down on your ears. Sooner or later, someone powerful enough to put an end to your tantrum will show up. And as much fun as that would be to watch, I’d prefer not to get blood on my clothes.”
Phillipa disappeared, at least it would look like it. She reappeared a few seconds later, farther down the hall. ”Word of advice, storming the castle rarely works when the enemy outnumbers you.”
Plan? She wanted a plan? There was no planning at this stage. There was him finding the blue mutant and ripping his throat out with his claws. That was as far as he was getting with any sort of plan. Problem was it seemed that the elusive mutant knew how to hide far better than he had expected. And shouldn't he have been protecting some of the students he had killed? So many deaths on his conscience.
The enemy outnumbered him did it? Hmph. How many people did he kill already? He could take on plenty. There was only a few X-Men that would require his full attention to dispatch. But it seemed that none of them were here at the moment. Worked for him. He stalked away from them, still searching with a relentlessness.
All of the sudden he stopped and rose his hand to quiet the bantering women still irritated with his lack of plans. He could hear something...it was faint for him which wouldn't surprise him if they didn't hear anything at all. Quickly he moved down the hall and into a room once the doors slid open for his entry.
And there she was; sitting on a table and crying. The high pitch noise had gotten his attention and for a moment he was confused. He sniffed the air...now he was really confused. The girl couldn't have been any older than eight but unless his nose was lying to him...there was no way she could be that old. His eyes looked over her while she didn't seem to notice him just yet. It wasn't until he saw the pointed claws at the ends of her fingers that he knew he wasn't smelling things. He walked in slowly taking each step carefully until the girl noticed him and started to run and hid behind a nearby desk. He couldn't blame the girl, he was covered in blood after all. While she was relatively safe hiding under that desk he took the moment to look around and make sure that they were alone...except of course the women that were on his heels.
Phoenix kept yelling at him to come up with some sort of plan. She was getting irritated by all of this and more angry by each second that passed by where she didn't have her daughter. She was already angry that she was stuck in the body of Jean Grey again. She thought that she was rid of this woman. That she had finally gotten free of her and her constant whining about always being good. It was a head ache all of the time sharing a mind with this irritating woman who was now scratching at the walls she had put up to keep her locked away.
She ran her hand through her dark red hair as she paced. She needed to find Fallon. Her anxiety was rising as she thought of her and where she was or if she was even alive. Maybe the X-Men had killed her like she had always feared they would. Phoenix hated them more than anything and they all deserved to die in her opinion. If they didn't find Fallon and soon she would make sure that they all died. If they found Fallon and she was dead or even had a scratch on her Phoenix would make sure that their deaths were very painful and long.
"Victor don't walk away from me--"
She looked up to see Victor stalking away from her. He was just as irritated as she was if not more than her. He had gone through more emotionally than she had. He had to watch her die and then find out their daughter had been kidnapped. Her heart went out to him but it was too deep in her revenge and motherly instincts to even recognize the feeling. She stopped as he held his hand up to quiet her. She could tell by his body movements that he had heard something. She followed him as he stalked off.
Catching up to him he had already entered a room where she saw he was moving slowly and cautiously staring at something under a desk. Confused she stepped in and followed his gaze. There was a young girl hiding there with long brow hair, yellow eyes, and claws on her fingers. She couldn't have been more than eight years old. Phoenix stared at the claws that were identical to Victor'sand her heart caught in her throat as she realized who this young girl was. It was Fallon. She watched the girl intently wanting to scoop her up in her arms and hold her but she knew better from that scared look on the girl's face. What had they done to her? Phoenix let her mind loose as it crept to the young girl's mind. She touched it tentatively testing the waters and seeing how far she could go. She knew Fallon would recognize her mind. They had shared it for so long now. Watching the girl look up at her as she felt Phoenix's mind she saw a recognition in her eyes as they locked on her's. Fallon welcomed Phoenix's mind in then and Phoenix smiled. The young girl climbed out from under the desk and ran to Phoenix as the red haired woman knelt down and wrapped her arms around her daughter, holding her tight. Phoenix almost cried from the moment of it all.
"Oh my sweet, Fallon. You're safe now. Momma's got you, baby girl. We're here now."
