Making his quietly making his way to the science lab, even though classes had ended a while ago. The hallways in the classroom wing were fairly deserted, in fact the hallway to the science lab where Rex was headed was actually completely empty he just didn't want anyone spotting him since he wasn't exsactly supossed to be there at this time, which suited Rex just fine.
Rex had been bored the whole day and, after failing to find something that he really wanted to do, Rex decided to mess around in the science lab for a little while. Math and science were the subjects that always came easy to Rex which was why he decided to mess around in the science labs, what with all the chemicals and various other things, mainly fire. Got to love fire.
After reaching the door to the lab Rex looked around him to make sure no one was watching before entering the room. This room was usually off limits to students without an xmen or teacher with them since the room was filled with everything he had mentioned earlier.
Upon entering the room Rex went about gathering everything he would need, or want. Beakers, flasks, Mortor and Pestle, and various other things before going over and grabbing different chemicals. After filling a flask with a couple of chemicals that he knew could go together Rex placed it over a burner and then proceeded to grind up something else. After he ground up everything in his bowl to a fine powder he proceeded to pour that powder into the heated flask of chemicals....which promptly created a fairly good sized explosion, filling the lab with smoke.

The alarms from the smoke were going crazy. Hank rushed towards the alarms unsure of what was going on. The explosion was enough to be heard across the mansion but it could be anything. He maneuvered through the halls, using the walls and ceiling to get around the students until he was finally down at the lab.
He couldn't help coughing a little as he walked through the door and waved his hand about a bit. He walked over to a computer console and turned on a few things, one being a vent that worked at clearing the room.
"Anyone in here? Anyone?" He couldn't see a thing and he hoped that no one had been hurt. "Say something and I'll find you. Is there a fire?" He couldn't see any flames but the smoke was blocking his sight pretty well even as the vents worked to clear it. His hearing was very sensitive so that wouldn't be an issue to hear whoever was inside if there really was anyone. The last thing he wanted to do was have to explain how this happened and injured students. He half wondered if it had been one of his experiments but he didn't remember leaving any unattended.

Rex looked at the room, his gaze slightly tinted white from the light of the forcefield like substance surrounding him and the smoke that was filling the room. Ok, so that hadn't exactly been the desired effect he had been hoping for. Rex was probably lucky that he was able to get his shield up otherwise the blast could have caused major damage.
After a couple of minutes Rex figured it was probably safe to lower his shield, though even if it wasn't he would have to lower it anyways. If he kept it up an longer a teacher would show up and he would get in trouble, again.
As Rex lowered his shield he was about to make a run for it out of the room when he heard someone enter the room. Crap. He was basically trapped, well trapped since he didn't want to get caught. With the smoke filling the room he had to guess his way out since seeing his way out was impossible.
When he heard professor McCoy ask if anyone was hurt he started silently curing himself. He should have made a run for it as soon as the explosion ended.

Hank frowned at the lack of hearing anyone inside of the room. He was partly thankful of this but it also worried him. He added a few more vents to clear out the room. It seemed like there wasn't a fire so that was good. A chemical fire was very tricky to deal with.
He coughed again and finally was able to see a little bit. He saw the shape of someone else in the room. This reminded him of some sort of horror movie...not that he really watched those much. "Hello? What's your name?" He didn't recognize the body structure of the shadow he saw but he was sure it was a student. The height and weight from the shadow was still too small for an adult.
He frowned to a little, "Don't be afraid. Tell me what happened? Show me what caused this accident." He had to figure out if it was dangerous for the rest of the school before he could go so far as repremanding whoever it was infront of it. Though in a matter of moments the smoke would be gone enough for them to be able to see each other.

Rex was debating what he should do when the sounds of more vents turning on filled the room. Shit, Rex started panicking when the smoke in the room started to clear he was probably going to get caught any second now. Rex closed his eyes and clenched his fists as soon as he heard the professor ask him a question, damn it.
Ok so much for staying silent and hoping that he would go away, though he probably should have known that was never going to happen. What person, especially a teacher, would leave something like this alone.
Letting a out a deep breath Rex needed to calm down and think of how to get out of this. Since he was new here most, if not all, the teachers didn't knew him very well yet, maybe he could use that to his advantage. Temporally forgetting about the smoke in the room Rex took a deep breath to try and calm his nerves, and ended up coughing.
Great, well maybe this could use this. Still coughing Rex made his way to where he heard Professor McCoy's voice.
“My name is Rex.” He answered when he reached the blue teacher. “I'm not really sure what happened, though I thing one of the students might have left something on. Or thats what it looked like to me when I got here. I was just wondering around trying to get a feeling for this place when I heard something coming from the science lab.”
Yeah right, though hopefully he believed him, I mean it could happen. It wasn't like his story was unbelievable.

Henry narrowed his eyes at the boy infront of him for a moment. He really didn't believe that this one had just wandered in, but he had no reason to disbelieve him. After all he had no idea who he was. A newer student. Those were perhaps the most dangerous at times.
"Well, if that is the case it seemed the culprit has fled the scene." His tone was far from being accusing but he attempted to hint to the fact that the boy was going to get away with this...this time. But it was far from an occurance that would be forgotten, especially when it involved one of his labs! "As a new student perhaps I should reinform you that it is against school policy to work in the labs alone." He had no idea what the kid could have been up to originally and by this point he really didn't care. He had bigger things to worry about, like cleaning up this mess. So far he had no idea if the chemicals that were used were hazardous or not. "Now I'm sure you have classes or other activities to go to." It was Rex's hint to run while he could.
Hank was going to have to keep an eye on this boy.

Rex could just tell from looking at the teachers expersion tha he didn't believe him, but he was going to let him going to get away with it this time since he had no proof that what he said was a lie. Sometimes it was good to be the new kid, though now he had just put him on the radar of this professor. He would have to tread lightly when he was involved.
“Of course. Labs can be extermely dangrous. What with all the dangrous chemicals and other equipmnet.” Oh Rex was such a hypricrite, though if I got him out of this situation he was willing to do anything though to some people it might make him sound a little ore suspisous considering what just happened. But then there was really noting he could really do about it he had no proof the Rex had done anything.
Rex knew a obvious dismissel when he heard one and Beast was diffenatly giving him on. Though Rex wasn't going to complain it was an escape route from this situation and he was going to take it. So after saying a quick goodbye Rex made a dash for the exit, and only when he was down the hall from the classroom did he let out a sigh of relief. That had been way to close.
