The pair of rooms that Shaun and his sister shared were far from most the other residents of the Brotherhood. Why? Well, when you had a sister who caught everything she was exposed to, and wasn't able to fight off any virus she caught, you had to take some precautions.
There were three rooms, though only one room had a door to the hall, and that was Shaun's bedroom, which in turn had one door to the kitchen, and in the small kitchen you finally reached Emily's room. It was set up for her own protection, so she'd been told, so that she could have a clean room in the back, her own, but still be able to venture into the Kitchen or her brother's room without having to worry.
Emily was back in her own room, which was a somewhat typical bedroom for a fifteen year old girl. The walls were lime green, with more then a dozen photos (that didn't seem to have any theme, other then the occasional picture of her and Shaun). Furniture, typical, except for what looked like medical supplies in the furthest corner, her own personal stash of medicine and supplies when she got sick.
Emmy herself, lay on her stomach on the floor, legs kicking in the air as she stared intently at the 20 inch tv screen in front of her, a Play Station 2 paddle in front of her hands. Seeing as she rarely ever left her and her brother's rooms, the girl had found far to many ways to entertain herself through out the day. Today, she was intent on beating Kingdom Hearts... Again. She'd probably played the game half a dozen times already, but still never managed to beat it. Today though... Today she was determined on changing that... Just like all the other times she'd tried... She was so absorbed in her determination that she didn't hear Shaun enter the room...

Shaun walked around the apartment dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans definitely not his normal attire to be sure, or at least that was true of Shaun prime.
He unfortunately though was not Shaun prime, he was the fall back guy, the designated babysitter, and the commander sitting safe in the bunker, and to be honest it sucked. Shaun picked up his set of darts and began throwing them against the wall again, not a dartboard, just the wall itself. It was something he tended to do when he was bored on babysitting duty. The rhythmic thud of each dart as it embedded itself in the wall helped to calm him down a bit.
The only other thing he had to do was research, and god knows he could only do so much research before his bloody head was going to explode.
Shaun prime was allowed to gallivant around and have all the fun, and while it helped quite a bit that this Shaun shared the same memories and general experiences that Shaun Prime was now executing...It only helped so much. Granted If Shaun wasn't currently split into two and had to sit around waiting he would go batshit insane with the boredom of it all and prolly go out and kill someone.
The halls outside were quiet, and they had been ever since they got here. There was nothing to do and no real trouble to get into, which Shaun supposed was a blessing. After all he was suppose to be the 'backup' Shaun in case anything went wrong, but it was just so dull here!
Shaun got up after a few minutes and went to check on Em. He had to draw her blood again soon anyway...It was important she stay as healthy and as 'safe' as she could be. Shaun got up and trudged over over to the kitchen and grabbed a green apple out of the fridge on the way to her room.
"Hey everything good in here?" he said in a fairly uninterested tone as he tossed the apple on the bed next to her. "You should eat...keeps your sugar up."

It always confused, and irritated, little Emmy when her brother split in two. It reminded her to much of cells, and she didn't have much love for them... Considering they liked making her life hell. None the less, she never mentioned her discomfort to her older brother, because she knew he wouldn't want to hear it. He didn't like 'babysitting' her. And no matter how often she told him he didn't have to, that she was perfectly safe here on her own if he really didn't want to be there, he never listened.
Already she was getting irritated with trying to play the game for who knows what time. It was by sheer miracle that her brother (half her brother?) came to her rescue. Sort of. She smiled a little when he spoke. "Could we go get some new games sometime? I've played this to many times..." She wasn't sure if he'd agree. After all, sometimes it wasn't exactly the.... Smartest idea, to let her out in the world. Considering she caught everything she was exposed to.... She'd still try though.
She rolled onto her back when he tossed the apple, habit telling her he'd do it, and her, being the nerd she was, didn't want it bruising and had to catch it. "Thanks." She didn't argue. Even though she wasn't that hungry to begin with. Sighing she took a bite from the apple, staring up at the ceiling. A moment passed as she munched on the apple, before she suddenly turned to look at the clock. "Early today?"

"Eh you'll live." he said casually as he walked inside and took the supplies out of her bedside table and started preparing them. The process was meticulous but not overly difficult, In fact at this point it was second nature for Shaun to do this he put on a pair of rubber gloves and started sterilizing everything as he talked.
"Why do ya need another game anyway? Do you know how much it's a pain in the arse to get out of here and come back in again...All that desterilizing and resterilizing again, not to mention how much of a pain it would be just to get out of this maze of a place. Maybe Prime might do it, when, and if he comes back mind you, but I sure as hell ain't goin through all that trouble just so you can have another game ya get bored of...sides he said after a short pause as he moved to draw the blood "I wouldn't know what to get ya anyway."
Shaun drew her blood and watched the shiny silver liquid fill the empty syringe....some days were better then others, and occasionally he could draw a lot more out of her, but that wasn't usually his goal.
An asset like this was worth millions just for this syringe. Any person human or mutant, would pay up the nose for this thing, and anyone that discovered its secrets and its source was sure to come after it. For that reason it was very important to keep the quantity lying around limited at all times. No more then a couple injections were in their house ready to use, whether for him, or for her in her illness. Any more and things got dangerous.
Stockpiling it came later, right now it was all about building a power base.

Emily let out a heavy, depressed, sigh. Of course. Like she'd half expected, he didn't like the idea. She loved him dearly, but he didn't seem to realize just how boring it was in here. Okay, he actually did... But at least he had the option of doing things, going out and such. She was stuck in here, no choice in the matter, all because the world was out to kill and/or use her. "Because I've played all the ones I have more then a dozen times. It gets a little old after the seventh and eighth time."
With yet another sigh, she sat up as he waiting for her. The routine had been drilled into her from a young age. Holding her arm out, she waited. "I could make a list or something. For next time you go out." She didn't even flinch when the needle broke her skin. As he focused on the job at hand, she thought. Where did the other half of her brother run off to? Even more so when you had to guess at which half was here, and which was out. Though there wasn't that much of a difference, when you really thought about it...
She had to find a different subject to think about, because if she spent to much time trying to figure out exactly how the splitting in half worked, she'd give herself a headache. Instead, she focused on watching him work. As he drew more blood, her thoughts wandered once more.
Her brother didn't like having to watch her day and night. She hated seeing him unhappy. If only her mutation wasn't so... well troublesome. In more ways then most people thought. He had to watch her for her own safety, anyone finding out she existed would take her away. Sure, he could use her power whenever he wanted, but that didn't change the potential danger she was always in. Second, it wasn't that hard to guess that it was her power that caused all her health issues. "I'm sorry... For all the trouble..."

She always got like this, all quiet and, full of self-pity. It kept her quiet, but it also got annoying. When she was like this she wouldn't eat, and she would barely sleep, all full of guilt and remorse for her situation.
Why she couldn't just deal with it and move on, Shaun would never know. All he could do at times like these was try and comfort her. Tell her it was okay tuck her in at night, get her a warm glass of milk.
As long as it kept her happy and healthy he didn't really care. She'd been like this ever since their parents died. Just so dependent on him...he had to admit it was rather useful to have her at his side, even when she didn't have powers. Having a little girl who was seemingly starving to death (and sometimes she actually was: method acting) could get you a lot of free stuff and sympathy. It didn't require anything quite as dodgy as taking it by force, and on top of it you could start to build a network of 'friends', which was, and probably still is the highest form of power one can attain.
Keeping her happy, didn't mean he had to baby her like a spoiled child though, she would just have to deal with it.
"You know I'm stuck here almost just as much as you." he said in a matter of fact tone. "I'm not supposed to leave, same as you...I'd have to stay here to protect prime anyway...I may bend the rules every once and a while but they are my rules to break. This is how life is, instead of whining about it, you should just deal with it."

Emily didn't try to depress herself, it just happened. But she also didn't try to lose her appetite or become an insomniac, just happened. It'd been a theory early on that the mood swings her blood was known to cause, mildly affected her as well. Not nearly as bad as her brother or other people, but it sent her down a spiraling tunnel of guilt and regret every so often. Not always for herself though. For Shaun. Like he'd said, he was stuck here just as much as her....
Slowly she nodded as he chewed her out. Life wouldn't change all that much as she got older, at least not for her. She shouldn't focus on the bad. On how she couldn't do most normal things, how (half) of Shaun was trapped here, just like her. No, she shouldn't think of it that way. She was lucky, that they even had these rooms, so she didn't have to worry about catching something and possibly dieing. She was lucky that her brother cared enough for her, that he was always here (half of him, at least.) for her, and would do most anything to protect her. "Okay."
She was silent for several moments, trying to think of something to keep her mind from the depressing thoughts. "Do you want to do something? There are plenty of games in here..." There were two reasons for her offer. First, she just liked spending time (half) her brother. Second? He was probably crazy bored, and she wanted to distract him. He had to finish drawing blood though, and depending on how much he would draw, he could already be done but just forgetting to pull the needle out.

Shaun really wasn't much for games, the traditional kind anyway. They were just too boring, repetitive, and overall not stimulating enough. Why would he waste his time playing a simulation when he could just go out and do the real thing himself?
There just wasn't much of a point to it. Not, to mention, Shaun could have one hell of a temper, and he refused not to let things go his way. So, much like when you are playing chess with your boss, it was best to let him win. Not that he needed the help mind you, he was awfully good at anything that managed to keep his attention for more then a moment.
Electronic games, wouldn't always let Shaun win however, and as a result, many controllers, TVs, and windows had been smashed in his frustration.
But he was awfully bored today, and he was stuck in the house, if only by his own volition, so he found himself to be awfully accepting of his sister 's timid offer.
"Well I suppose a little God Of War wouldn't hurt." came his muttered and somewhat gravely reply as he moved toward the Playstation. God Of War was one of the few games that they owned that actually interested Shaun to some extent. Maybe it was that he saw a kindred spirit in Kratos, a man who would rip through anything in his path and even conquer death to get what he wanted. He liked the guy, and that was a very rare thing.

Usually, when Shaun agreed to play a game with her, she made sure he won. She put up a bit of a fight though, so he wouldn’t realize she was letting him win. Okay, he might know… But he’d never mentioned it before, so either he knew and didn’t care, or he didn’t know and would remain blissfully unaware that she might be better at the game then him (which wasn’t always the case, mind you. He completely trounced her if he put his mind to it.).
In single player games though, the girl just liked to watch her brother play. The game offered entertainment for both of them. Shaun liked violent games, and enjoyed the game play far too much in that regard. And Emily? She liked story lines, and was able to enjoy the story without having to actually play the game herself.
Either way, today seemed to be her lucky day, because he actually agreed. He didn’t sound all that excited, but he rarely agreed to something he didn’t (sort of) want to do. Em perked up, slipping off her bed and moving to their small collection of games. It wasn’t hard to find God of War, and when she did, she beat him to the Playstation, setting it up for him. As held the controller out to him, she smiled. After, she went back to her bed, grabbed a blanket, and wrapped herself up in it like a cocoon next to him. All the while, the girl was faking this burst of energy. Blood loss always made her a little light headed, but that wasn’t what was wrong. She always managed to get sick, how, no one really knew, especially when she rarely even left the rooms. Maybe it was just from her last trip to the outside world, and the little bugger hadn’t presented itself until now. So, obviously, the girl had a bit of a fever, and had been holding back coughs the whole day. Not that bad yet, but when you didn't have an immune system, you never got better on your own. You got worse.

Shaun blasted through horde after horde of grotesque enemies going out of his way on occasion to kill them in the most gruesome ways possible. His expression while he was playing was blank; in reality he was still bored, but at least this way his mind (at least a small fraction of it) had something to do.
Him and Em had just managed to setup this apparent a couple of weeks ago. It was an arduous and frustrating process primarily because they couldn't hire anyone to help them. This base after all was secret, and it was nearly abandoned when they found it. As far as Shaun knew they were still the only people who were actually living in it since the Brotherhood lost their old leader.
Sure, there were scavengers, and the occasional person who came in claiming to be a member, but really the place was deserted. Those who came would nervously look around looking for any sign of something they could profit from, and when they found none they simply left.
These were not the kind of people you wanted to help your sick sister move into her apartment. So Shaun was left doing much of the work, and the heavy lifting by himself (granted, it helped to have two of him). Em tried to help the best she could, but to Shaun she seemed to be just in the way. The process took several days, but in the end Shaun had completed it without incident (if you didn't count a few broken walls, these were ruins after all) and they were able to move in.
The next step was to find the supposed new leader of this group. Something, which again was likely to take an awful lot of tedious work and time. Shaun (prime anyway) would go to New York tomorrow and start shaking down some contacts for some information. Until then all he could really do was wait, and he really wasn't very good at waiting.
Luckily, he would be on the move tomorrow, and he would most likely get some answers. Until then, he could sit here and rip some heads off of mythical creatures, he could wait, at least until tomorrow.

The move in had been hectic, to say the least. Every time Emily had tried to help, she'd only slowed her brother down. In the end, she'd just sat against the wall, out of his way so he wouldn't have to worry about tripping over her. Eventually though, she decided to focus her efforts on just organizing things. First her own medical supplies, so she or Shaun could quickly get what they needed if something happened. The rest of her stuff came next as she made sure everything was the way she liked it, and finally she'd moved on to the kitchen. She liked cooking more then Shaun after all, and seeing as he was more likely to just warm up a hot pocket then actually cook, she had free reign in the room, able to put things wherever she wanted because, hey, Shaun got free meals out of it.
Back to reality though, Emmy just watched him play for.. Who knew how long. He could get so absorbed in games, just like her, that he forgot about reality. Finally, the girl glanced up at her clock. If they were going to have a meal that wasn't frozen, she had to start fixing it right about now. "I'll go start dinner." She didn't know if he'd actually hear her. Still, she got up, throwing the blanket she'd been using on her bed and heading into the kitchen. It wasn't quite a clean room like her own, but it was safe enough for her to be in for long periods, just like Shaun's room (Though she rarely spent much time in his room. He liked his privacy).
Washing her hands, she contemplated what to fix, checking the fridge and cabinets. As she did, she started to make a list in her head. Every ingredient she saw was a possible dish. Finally though... She just settled on spaghetti and meatballs. It was simple, she liked it, and Shaun had never complained about it before now (so she guessed he liked it).
She pulled a chair over to the counter, having to climb up on it to reach the pot she needed. All the while, vertigo started to set in. The pot dropped from her hands, clattering to the ground with a bang so loud there was absolutely no way Shaun hadn't heard it. Instantly she tried to grab the cabinets so she didn't follow the pot, but, she slipped, taking her own tumble. Sitting up, she took several heavy breaths, skin pale and sweat beading on her forehead from the fever she'd been carelessly ignoring all day long...

Shaun heard the deafening crash of the pot..(causing him to die).and then the girl fall on the floor, and his first reaction was to simply ignore it, or better yet yell at her for messing up his concentration, she knew better then that. But after he sat there for a while (probably longer then he should have) he got up and went to check on her. After all his sister could be, and was most likely sick, and if that was the case her blood was no good.
There would be numerous inconveniences if she died on him. For one thing he would have to cook, and he hated cooking, and cleaning, and all the other random mundane stuff he would have to do. And where was he ever going to find someone as loyal and as obedient as her? He sure as hell wasn't going to raise another kid from scratch WAY too much of a hassle.
Shaun got down and knelled next to her feeling her forehead with the back of his hand. She had a fever and it was going strong. "God Damnit Emily you know better then this!" he said picking her up off the ground and carrying her to her bed.
From there it was a routine procedure: put on antibacterial soap, put on gloves, get out and administer the antibiotics, check her temperature, pulse, get ice etc etc. the same every time.

Emily sat there for several moments, the world still spinning, leaving her dizzy and disoriented. She shook her head, trying to settle her vision, so she could get up and (hopefully) finish dinner. The girl liked cooking after all! Not to mention... Shaun didn't like it when she got sick. If that weren't bad enough, the treatment made her blood useless for a short time. Maybe that was why she hadn't mentioned it earlier, because if he'd known, he would have made her take the antibodies, and wouldn't be able to draw any of her blood until her body managed to get rid of them. She really didn't like throwing up.
When her brother showed up, she smiled a little sheepishly, though it looked more like one of her 'please don't be mad at me' smiles. It was a feeble attempt, one that was sure to fail, especially when he felt her forehead and realized just how high her fever was. "I'm sorry..." She spoke softly, not trying to defend why she hadn't told him sooner or protest when he picked her up.
"I didn't want you to worry.." She offered her excuse only when he was checking her temperature for a second time. "I'm really, really, sorry I didn't tell you sooner..." She honestly was. She wasn't moody, like before, but at least he'd know her apology was sincere. Whether that mattered to him though....

"Don't worry about it." his voice was rough, but sweet as he looked her over. Right now he had nothing to do, all research was done, all samples taken there was just waiting, so if anything, as stupid as Emily just was, at least it gave Shaun something to do.
Drawing blood everyday was one thing, but trying to cure his sick and ailing sister was another. Not only was it important due to her sensitive blood, but it also required Shaun to keep her under constant supervision and monitoring. It was definitely not a passive activity, which means he would be busy, which made him glad.
He watched her carefully monitoring her health has he pumped antibiotics into her, as well as keeping her spirits up. A little sweet talk, and cuddling would keep her like putty in his fingers as he went about his work. Despite her protests he went ahead and finished dinner for her. No point in all the drugs if her body didn't have enough energy to deal with it.
Until she was better, she would be his top priority, and his world, that was at least until something else came along that proved to be more important...
