It was a surprisingly nice day out for this time of year, and those that were in a mood to come out of doors found themselves at the park. Though it was quite populated due to the weather, it was thankfully not as packed as it normally gets during the hot summer days. Just enough people roamed the parks for the crows, squirrels, and pigeons to be out enforce begging for scraps.
Doreen was one of those outside enjoying the sun in the park, however the weather had little impact over that decision, as she was usually outside in her free time, good weather or bad. Today she was in a less populated segment of the park, doing her homework in a tree.
Three to four squirrels would be on the branch with her at any given time. Chattering happily to her, or sleeping in her long, bushy, brown hair, or darting down the tree to go play somewhere else, maybe returning after several minutes to bring a peanut or acorn for the young woman.
Doreen paid them little mind, as if this were a very common occurrence, and instead concentrated heavily on her work, occasionally cracking open a small morsel brought to her by her friends and popping it in her mouth absently.
"I hate math Monkey Joe." she sighed to one of the squirrels. This one had been with her the entire time she'd been up the tree, sleeping in her hair while the other squirrels had zipped about.
"You wound't happen to know what the square root of 34 was would you?"
The squirrel addressed as Monkey Joe cracked open one eye lazily, and gave a small chirrup before closing the eye again and going back to sleep.
"Didn't think so." she sighed to herself.
