"David... As in from Xavier's?" Cain was kidnapping people? So he was the cause of all those unexplainable disappearances?! He was behind it all?! She should have known! How could she have been so stupid?! Rose had to tell the school and other groups! Maybe they could protect themselves if they knew who it was behind them!
Of course she was still mad at him, but she could see him growing more and more nervous by the second. Why was he so worried? It was dark, as if midnight, but the sun was still out! How was that possible? Who had the power to block out the sun? “Alice? You mean mad Alice?” There was only one Alice she knew of that controlled shadows… “Mentally unstable Alice?”
Finally though, scowling, she sighed. If he was this worried already, he had good reason and she aught to listen.. “Fine. Alright…” She moved in the direction they’d both come from, keeping some distance from Ian, if only because she was still pissed at him. She didn’t get far…
The attack came from absolutely no where. It wasn’t Cain though. The Shadows beneath her shot upward like spikes, tearing into flesh. Blood sprayed everywhere, Rose’s eyes going wide with shock. What the hell? Just as quickly as they came, the shadow spikes disappeared, as if not interested in making that final killing blow. Rose staggered, still in shock from the unexpected attack but that wasn’t the only reason. In that split second the damage was horrific enough to near kill her in one stroke…

"Yeah, and it's not just David. Ayden's disappeared to, and so did Alice. Cain experimented on them to make them join him. Some of those tests went well, but the others were driven insane or just killed. Ayden was fine, but David didn't make it. Neither did Devika. Tim was furious, tried to attack Cain solo. Almost succeeded to, but then David killed him." he shook his head sadly, "Tim tried to talk to him, get through to the program. Didn't end to well."
The more the things began to grow darker, the more he knew they didn't have time. When Rose finally got that Corruption was Alice, it was too late for either of them to get far. Rose was suddenly attacked by the shadows, and Cain was now staring at the two of them ready to finish what he started. Ian was glad his speed was still intact even with the alien technology. He was fast at grabbing Rose and escaping both Cain and the shadows. He was back at the base in seconds.
"What happened?" Jason asked.
"Alice is here, and so is Cain. We don't have time, we need to get her downstairs and healed up. Take her, I need to get the defenses up."
Jason laid Rose down and examined her, placing sunglasses on over her eyes and his. Within moments lights inside the base came on full force, making the night disappear as if it was daytime out. Ian knew they had to get out of there, but first he had to heal Rose. He was next to her in seconds, a patch over his left eye.
"Stay with me, Rose. I'm not losing you again, not without saying goodbye." his voice was full of concern, "You're going to feel a slight pinch."
The canon that was his right hand changed back to normal, and he extended a small finger to her arm. A small needle came out and pierced her skin. The needle sent a small amount of nanobites into her skin. It was different than the one's in Cain, made to work on wounds quickly then dissipate into the bloodstream. He looked to Rose and a small smile came on his face. It wasn't a cruel or sarcastic smile, it was a smile that Ian usually gave her back in the day. A smile that he gave her when she was dieing, only he knew she wouldn't be the one dieing this time.
"Rose I...I'm sorry for everything. I know none of this was your fault, but I was angry. I know you won't forgive me now, but maybe someday. When you see Ian again, would you give him a message for me?"

Rose blacked out after the attack, the pain intense enough that it’d instantly rendered her unconscious. It wasn’t until she heard voices that she came to again. She hadn’t been out long, maybe a minute at most. When she was awake again, the first and only thing she knew was pain. Lots of pain. If she hadn’t been disciplined by the Nightshades that expressing pain was a sign of weakness she would have cried out, or at least whimpered! Instead, she just cringed a little, her teeth gritted together. Jason was there… So future Ian had brought her back here? That made sense…
It was bright. Bright enough that they all wore something over their eyes to protect them. Why was that? Hearing what Ian had to say though… Was that real concern? Then.. He didn’t hate her? Or.. he hated her from this time? Or… Oh it didn’t make sense at all! She was so confused!
She didn’t even feel the ‘pinch’ through all the other pain. But in a matter of moments the pain was dulling… Soon, she couldn’t even feel it anymore. Actually.. She felt completely fine! Sitting up, she waited for the pain to return, nothing happened. “What the hell..?” Her barely even whispered, but there was surprise in her voice. What had future Ian done?!
Again, he was talking to her, but, it was like the old Ian was back… Or, at least the Ian that didn’t hate her guts. She looked at him in pure shock, as if not believing her ears. “Yeah. Anger can make you do some pretty stupid things…” Of course she hadn’t forgiven him. But, at least he was apologizing… That was a step. “… I can try… But you expect him…. Or… You to listen to me?”

"Nanobites have an interesting effect when used right. The ones I put into you just healed up your wounds and disappeared."
When he saw the surprise on her face, he couldn't help but smile. He looked to Jason who nodded his head and placed a hand on her arm. Ian placed his own hand on Jason's, who looked at him for a minute before letting go. He knew Ian still had more to tell her, and though there wasn't much time, Ian would do his best to give them time. When she made the comment about anger, he couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Yeah, anger has that effect on people." he smiled at her, then shook his head at his next question, "Right now, no. He doesn't even remember the mansion if my timing is right, pardon the pun. Just give him this for me. Tell him it's an important message from...from family."
He reached over to his mechanical arm, opening up a small latch and pulling out something that looked like a recorder, complete with a red button on it. He placed it in her hands, still smiling at her. He then reached up and touched the side of her face, taking a moment to look at her without her barriers coming up.
"Even though he doesn't remember, he still loves you. Don't worry about getting him to forget, because believe it or not, you were the reason he was alive through all the hard times, both in and out of fights. You two need each other, whether you believe it or not. You two are a team, and you will need each other to get through this."

The little recorder he gave her.... Rose just started at it for a few moments. Of course she was curious as to what was on it, but it was a message from future Ian to past Ian. It was.... Well wrong to listen to it. It was meant for his ears only. Finally she sighed, nodding. "Okay.... I'll give him it." If he ever let her near him, that is... Or if she ever found him. Future Ian mentioned him being with Merfonde... And no doubt Merfonde wouldn't let Rose anywhere near Ian...
Her curiosity wasn't limited to just what was on the recorder. She wanted to know why she'd attacked Ian in this time. What had happened to her? What had driven her over the edge like that?
Her reflexes almost made her put up a barrier around her when he reached out to touch her cheek. She would have protected herself from the touch to, if she hadn't stopped herself at the last second. No sound escaped her as she listened to what he had to say. When he finishes, she looked down, as if ashamed. "I know that..." Of course she knew Ian still loved her. Others had told her how devastated he was when she 'died', how he'd been only a shadow of his former self. And when he found out she was still alive... He did everything in his power to find her. If that wasn't love, what was?

He smiled as he stared at her, not paying attention to the growing darkness outside. It wasn't until the alarm sounded that he realized that the base was being attacked. He immediately stood up and went to the window, seeing the shadows circled around their little light protection, a form stepping out that he wished wouldn't had followed them. Cain stared back into the window at him and continued to walk towards the base.
"Come out, come out, where ever you are."
Dam. Not here. Not now., was the only thought Ian had. He ran to Rose and helped her up, looking at Jason who nodded. They both knew they had to get Rose out of there quick, time was running short.
"Rose, there's something I have to tell you, and I won't get another chance." he paused, leaning in and pressing his lips against hers, kissing her softly before breaking it, "Take care of yourself, and don't let it control you."
He hoped she knew what he was talking about as Cain broke through the wall and looked to Rose, firing a needle at her. Jason stood in her path, catching it in his shoulder and wincing. Cain smiled evilly at him and tried again, but found his head being blown off by Ian's canon arm again.
"Jason! Get her out of here! He's not going to stay down for long." he looked to Rose, his eye showing the same look she gave him years ago. The look that he was saying goodbye for the last time, "Rose, everyone's dead, I'm the last hope this planet has, but it's not enough. It won't be enough for your time either, you have to find the others and stop Cain and Alice before my time becomes yours. Understand?"

Rose didn't fight when she was basically dragged to her feet. They were both frantic, and for how bright it was in here... It was getting even darker outside. Future Cain was outside, taunting them, and Alice was getting closer...
The kiss really surprised her, her eyes going as wide as saucers. Her first thoughts revolved at the whole 'Holy shit, a guy over 20 years older then me is kissing me!', even though she knew it was Ian, it was still a little creepy... What he said after though only confused her even more. Don't let what control her?! What had controlled her in this time?! She would have basically ordered him to explain everything to her, but way to many things happened at that moment.
Cain was in the place, sending something towards her. Jason protected her though, wincing. What had he tried to hit her with? There was no time to dwell on it though, as Ian was giving her that look. With out knowing it, tears filled her eyes. She knew what was going to happen. She shouldn't be sad though! She hated this Ian! "I promise. I won't let any of this happen. We will stop all of this." We. She was promising him here and now that she wouldn't do this alone. She'd find her Ian, she'd find the others, and all of them would put and end to this.

"Thanks, Rose. You always were the better of the two of us." Ian said.
A proud smile formed on his face when she said 'we'. He knew she meant it, but his attention was brought to Cain as pain shot through his entire body. The same tendrils that wrapped around Rose were now puncturing through his entire body, raising him up into the air.
"Jason...get her out of here...now!" Ian shouted, gritting his teeth through the pain.
Jason could feel something happening to him, but he held on as long as he could. He took Rose's arm and concentrated, causing the two to vanish from the future. Cain used one of his metallic tendrils to smash the lights, causing the shadows to enter in full force. He held Ian up and the shadows swarmed around them.
"Fool. I'm the ultimate power here, and now you're going to die." Cain said with a laugh.
"No, you're just another asshole, and I'm taking you to hell tonight."
The shadows completely covered Cain and Ian, leaving nothing but darkness. A flash of light came from where Ian disappeared, followed by an explosion that vaporized the entire building, sending a shockwave of yellowish light miles around as if an atomic bomb had exploded. The blast soared high into the sky, puncturing through the clouds to the point where the sun could show through. The rays of light from the sun shined down on a large black spot that use to be the base, and where Ian had destroyed Cain for the last time. The rays shone for only a moment, only to be shadowed by darkness once again.
Jason and Rose appeared next to the abandoned warehouse, back in the present. Jason released Rose and dropped to the ground, holding his arm and wincing. He couldn't fight back the changes now, there were too many in him. He gritted his teeth and looked up at Rose.
"Rose...get out of here. I can't stop this."

Rose tried to smile back, but she couldn't bring herself to. How could she smile at a time like this?Cain had Ian then, her emotions roaring up. She was angry. Why was this happening? She shut her eyes tight, looking away. For her mostly heartless exterior, it didn't mean she wanted to watch the death of someone that was special to her. Sure, it wasn't her Ian logically, but logic was the last thing on your mind at moments like these. All she knew was Ian was going to die. And she couldn't do a thing about it. This was exactly the thing she'd been fighting to avoid!
Jason had a hold of her then, and they were gone, Rose never opening her eyes to look and see what happened right as they left the time. Only when she knew they were back in hers did her eyes open. She didn't look at him though, or say anything. Just stare at the ground, her thoughts conflicted and troubled. She wouldn't cry. She refused to. But she couldn't forget. That was the future she had to stop. SHe could never forget what would happen if they failed...
It was then Jason started to act... well strange. It seemed like whatever future Cain had done was bothering him. Look at him with surprise she stepped forward to help, but stopped the moment he told her to get out of there. Her eyes widened in pure shock. "Wh-What? What's going on? What's happening? I can't leave you here! You're injured!" She still hesitated, not taking a step closer or farther away. She didn't know what to do. He sounded dead serious about her getting out. Something bad was happening. But how could she leave him there?

"Go...get out of here...now!"
He turned and started to crawl away from her, to get away before the change was complete. He could feel himself changing, the things crawling around inside of him, messing with his blood and his skin. His skin looked as if it was shifting, his entire body changing. He was growing more toned in muscle, but his skin was beginning to grow more pale. What was really more noticeable was his hair.
His pale hand gripped the window ledge and did his best to stand up. As he stood, his hair began to change as well. It grew longer and began to change from a dark brown to a light silver, and even as he stood he grew slightly taller. The change was complete, and the new form cracked his neck slightly.
"Ah, so good to be back in my own time. How I missed this place."
He chuckled as the nanobites now completely filled his bloodstream, replacing his blood and organs with their technology. His voice was different now, not kind and caring as it use to be, but instead was cold, heartless...and familiar. The form turned and looked to Rose, his empty and emotionless eyes matched only by the cold smile on his face.
"Rose...so good to see you again after all these years."

Jason was… moving away? Why couldn’t he tell her what was happening? Even worse? He was…. Changing? What the hell was going on?! Rose took a step back, then another and his form started to change to one that she loathed and dreaded. The pale skin, cold eyes, and white hair… There was no mistaking it. Cain….
How was that possible though?! What had struck Jason.. Had turned him into Cain? “You..!” She was more than a little shocked. She was horrified. That meant… There were two Cain’s now. This one, and the other… This was bad, really, really bad.
This was no time to be dumbstruck! Jason had just turned into Cain in front of her! What was worse…. This had to be the future Cain… Suddenly she scowled, two ‘sheets’ of dark matter appearing on each side of him and slamming together. Running him through hadn’t worked the first time, so what about complete and total squashing? “You’re not welcome here!”
This was their time! Future Cain had to be destroyed before he could change the past to better his own future. He knew what would happen and where… He could change whatever he wanted! He had to die before he meddled with anything.

"Come now, Rose, is that any way to greet an old friend?"
He watched as the two black matters formed into walls and started to crush him. His body bent as the two walls met, crushing him flat. Then the walls seemed to be fighting against him, as if trying and failing to crush him flat. His body twisted and moved in means that no body should be able to, bringing his arms completely inside him until his hands were flat against the dark matter. He then began to push them away from him.
"Fool. This is the same trick your dear Shadow tried on me. Allow me to show how that ended for her!"
From out of his body shot at least eight metallic tendrils, the same kind that had wrapped around her before. This time they formed small needles on the outside and shot straight at her, hoping to pierce her skin and do the same thing to her he did to Jason.
"You're lucky, girl, I only want to add you to my newest collection. I plan to do much worse to Shadow, and after I destroy the Nightshades, the entire world will be mine for the destruction!"

“You are no friend of mine.”
Well, just perfect. That didn’t work. At all. This was bad. This Cain knew all her tricks… So what was she supposed to do? How was she supposed to stop someone that knew every trick she could throw at him? Scowling, she took another step back. If she had to, she could run.. But that would be the absolute last resort. If she could, she had to kill him here and now, before he did anything to this time. Or worse… Found his younger self…
Needles were flying towards her, completely taking her off guard. What the hell? He wasn’t trying to kill her? After all, how could simple needles kill someone? It was only in that split second that realized something. It’d been a needle that did this to Jason. Something was in those needles! Dark matter popped up out of nowhere, shielding her from the needles. One managed to barely avoid the shield…
Rose winced, ripping the needle out of her skin as quickly as possible. Hopefully before whatever it was could enter her blood stream. “You’re collection? I don’t think s-“ Her eyes widened suddenly, her head pounding, her own heartbeat loud in her ears. She almost doubled over, her hands on her head as she staggered backwards. Gritting her teeth she forced herself to look back up at him with the darkest look she could muster.
“...Go to hell...” Doing her best to ignore the pain she forced dark matter to form inside of him, and then… Explode.

He just laughed at her as she backed away from him. The look on her face was the same as Shadow's in every aspect, he couldn't wait to see it on the woman's face again. He watched as the barriers blocked his attack, all but one. He continued to smile as she pulled the needle from her arm and chuckled at her words.
"All it takes is one, girl, and you're mine."
He watched as she collapsed to the ground, holding her head and looking at him. He laughed at her words, but his laughter was cut short when he felt something growing inside him, and within moments his entire body exploded in a mass of small robotics, tissue and dark matter. Cain was in pieces, but the small robotics in his body immediately began to put himself back together. It was a slow process, having been blown completely apart to the point where there was nothing left, but the little robots managed. Cain would be pieced back together, but he was sure that by the tie he was rebuilt, Rose would be long gone or waiting for him to be remade. He had to be done with her and continue his goal.

Rose's head was pounding in sync with her own heartbeat, the sound in her chest echoing in her ears. Flinching through the pain, she struggled back to her feet. She had to get out of there, fast. If he regenerated like he had in the future, it wouldn't be long until he was back. And if she was still there when he reassembled, she'd be in big trouble. Struggling to take each step, she stopped to look back once. Shit. Even though it would probably be some time for him to return to normal, she could already see bits of him.
Gritting her teeth she looked at the warehouse. With some effort she forced dark matter to push one of the walls down, to crush the spot he was forming from. It'd slow him down even more... Hopefully.
She turned and half ran, half staggered away. The pounding in her head growing louder and louder with each step she took. She wouldn't 'give in' though. She would fight every change they tried to make. And she would find a way to get rid of them... But first... She had to find someone, anyone in the Mutant Alliance to tell them everything she knew. She had to warn them before it was to late...
