Living about a year with your, much older half sister, is a very different experience from this. A new school, it seemed scary to someone who felt like she didn’t fit in anywhere. Kayla wore a nice, form fitting black jacket, and under the jacket there was a slight sign of a red shirt. She had dark washed skinny jeans on and black boots that reached up half her calf. Standing at the gates of the Xavier institute. Kayla had taken a few steps into the property and stopped to take it all in. She would have never thought of herself in this situation last year. She had a old raggedy looking back pack on her back, one medium sized suite case in one hand, and an acoustic guitar in the other. She looked around and instantly felt like an idiot. Everyone was out, it was after classes, and she was standing here gawking.
Shaking those thoughts out of her head she continued to walk to the entrance. Man she wished that Jamie could have come with her, but Jamie had to work, that wasn’t new. Luckily she was able to go and say good bye for the time being.
Kayla sucsessfuly made it into the front door of the Mansion. She, once again, took some time to take it in. That was when her train of thought was broken as she heard someone approaching where she stood.

Rex was on his way out of the mansion to do something, anything. Rex hated staying in a school for more then he had to, it made him feel claustrophobic at times. But doesn't it do that with everyone? What with all the students, and teachers, and now you had to live there? It would probably cause anyone to go stir crazy.
As he made his way down the stairs to the front door he was stopped by the sight of a girl. Now that in itself wouldn't be so unusual since this was a school, no what caught Rex's attention was the look on the girls face. The look of awe about the school on her face made it obvious that she was a new student, and he clearly remembered the awe he felt when he first came to the school, though he probably hid it better then the girl in front of him.
Making his way down the remaining stairs he walked over to where the girl was standing in the doorway. Leaning against one of the walls he focused all of his attention on the new girl.
“Hey.” Was all he said in a “smooth” manner, or in an attempt that he thought was smooth.

Kayla looked at the strange boy as he leaned against the wall and said one simple word. She tucked some hair behind her ear, the shorter peaces falling back to the position in her face. "Hey yourself." He seemed to be going out side, but seemed to stop when he saw her. "I'm a little new here, and was just noticing how big this place is." She came from a situation of living with Jamie for about a year, and she was used to a reasonable size apartment for one person.
By first glance at this boy he seemed like an over confident play boy with many girls in his site. She just happened to be the 'lucky' one in his path right now. But she did move a little closer to him, if only just to not be blocking the door. The building was nice and warm so set down her bag and guitar and unbuttoned her jacket to reviel a black shirt that cut off at the mid drift, showing her belly button. The shirt also had a purple strip along the top.
"So were you just heading out, or was I just lucky to be in your way?"

So Rex had guessed right and she was new, though from the expressions on her face it wasn't hard to tell it wasn't like she was hiding how she was feeling.
“Yeah, I remember how it felt like on my first day here.” Like it was so long ago. Rex was technically a new student as well having been there for like what? Two weeks at the most. Though still he could fool her and make seem like he had been here for a while. Hey it was pretty much one of the only places he had actually been to, or at least remembered, stupid amnesia.
When the new girl, as Rex had come to call her since at this point he didn't know her name, asked him her question Rex had to stop himself from blinking in shock. He was momentarily at a lose of words because he had honestly not expected that reaction from her. Thinking fast Rex tried coming up with something clever to respond with.
“Well I was on my way out but I just had to stop and talk this beautiful girl standing in the doorway.” Did that sound as stupid as he just thought it did? Rex could have hit himself. Did he honestly just say that?
“Um...I have to go that way now.” Rex turned to go outside.

Kayla gave a little laugh. She knew it, he was just a little play boy, trying to be cool. 'Dang Jamie, why must you rub of on me.' She thought to her self. Kayla wouldn't judge him on that though. She was sure that there was more to him then her first impression. She picked up her back and guitar case again as he tried to make a quick escape. "So the oh so confident boy is deciding to run away, because he sounded cheesy? That would seem like a poor story line for an article." Not that she was a writer but she was confident enough in knowing what the world feels is interesting.
"Well it doesn't matter, I should get my stuff up to my room." Yet another test. If he was to impressed by his first 'mistake' then he would just leave. But if he wanted to attempt to redeem himself, then he would probably offer to help. Either way it didn't matter. She didn't care what he did, she didn't even know the guy's name, let alone anything factual about him.
Glancing down to the map in her hand she figured the fastest way to the dorm and plotted out her root, looking back to the boy, to see what his next move would be.

Why? Why had he said something like that? She probably thought he was an idiot, heck anyone who heard that probably thought he was an idiot. I mean where did that even come from? 'Well I was on my way out but I just had to stop and talk this beautiful girl standing in the doorway' who says things like, well obviously he did, and Rex could just kick himself. Before he could make it to the door he heard new girl talk to him. Turning to look at her he lifted on of his eyebrows.
“Article? What are you a reporter?” Rex started to make his way back to her until he was almost back into his original position. Oh he could tell that she was challenging him. While you couldn't see it in her face or body language it was more then apparent in her voice, and Rex never backed down from a challenge.
“Yeah you probably should. I mean you don't want to be standing here all day looking like the lost new girl that you are.” Rex was teasing he now. “What room are you in? Maybe I can help you find it since, you know, you are new here.”

Ah, so he caught on. Kayla did know how Reporters worked, Jamie would often take her out on the field or talk about her stories and get Kayla's advice or ideas. But he seemed to be catching on to her game. "Sadly, no I'm not a reporter but my sister, or rather half sister, Lemongrass Butthairs is. I've been living with her for the past year, it's the sort of thing that rubs off on someone." That was to see his reaction. Jamie only went by her real name when they were alone. Kayla started getting board of the regular, first thought female names, so then she moved to male names, then to names that no one should ever be named, to now random names that come to her head.
She let him speak and quirked a little smile. "Cute, but pathetic, I'm not lost. I know exactly how to get to my room. But if you wish to accompany me, then you can." She observed the boy again. He was still confident, and the only reason, she felt, that he stopped from leaving was because she basically questioned his manhood, and was testing to see what kind of guy he was. Even though she still felt like he was a play boy, she would give him a chance.

It wasn't really that hard to catch on to what she was doing, as he said it was quite obvious by the sound of her voice. When she started to mentioned living with a reporter Rex could diffenetly see. She had this way about her that seemed very reporter like, though he was diffently surprised when she said she wasn't a reporter herself.
“Are you sure your not reporter? You sure seem like you could be one.” Rex turned to look at her a joking smile on his face. “You know this place might not belike a normal school, but we do have a school run newspaper. Maybe you could join, show all of us your reporting ways that your half sister, Lemongrass Butthairs, taught you. I'm sure they would love to use those creative names you can come up with.”
Ok so with that statement you could tell that Rex was mocking her, well just a little bit. But come on, Lemongrass Butthairs? Who wouldn't mock that.
“Your not lost? So you mean to tell me you've been here before? Then by all means go ahead and lead the way, your reporteringness.”
With that Rex grabbed one of Kayla's bags and then proceeded to run up the stairs. When he reached the top he turned to look at her over the railing.
“Or, on second thought maybe I can just lead you there.” Rex the ran down the hall, Kayla's bag in hand.

Kayla rolled her eyes about the reporter comments. It was rude, alright, now she really didn't like this guy. But she did laugh when he said the made up name. But still, he seemed kauky and rude. True she probably seemed kauky as well, but that didn't matter. "Sorry to ruin your joke, but I don't plan on ever even picking up the paper." She never did. She heard all her news from Jamie.
She let him talk, continually showing off how annoying he could be. That was then he stole her bag. She followed him, not running, trying to stay calm. She knew that her power was a bit... uncontrollable at the moment and she knew the policy on using powers. She assumed that he would just go to the girl's dorm and find the one with her name on it, even thought he didn't know it. He would probably find the one with the name he didn't know, that was if he got around the school enough to know the names of every female at this school.
It was lucky that the thief didn't take her guitar, that would have teared it. Grasping the handle tightly in her hand she walked to the girls dorm, following what she had plotted out from the map previously.

Rex made his way to the girl dormitrories sure he didn't know her name, but hey he doesn't know anything thats happened for the past fifteen years so how hard could it be to find where her room was all he had to do was find the newest looking name plate. Besides even if he couldn't find her room he could always wait at the entrance of the dorms for her. Also by the looks of it she was the kind of person that looked like she took her free time in getting somewhere they way she didn't run after him when he took her bag like he thought she was going to. Though that just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover.
As soon as Rex reached the hallway that led to the girl's dorm he slowed his run to a walk. Looking at all the name plates Rex tried to figure out which one could be hers. There were some nameplates that looked like they had been there for a while so he new it couldn't be any of theirs.
There were a couple of names that stood out to him however, though he decided that the best option would be just for him to wait for new girl to show up and show him which room was hers.

Kayla headed to the girls dorm and sure enough that boy was there, with her bag. She looked at him, he seemed to have decided to wait. She didn't look aggravated, but she did feel it a little bit ago. She did justify his behavior by the fact that she didn't know him...at all. He could very well be a mental case, or actually be a three year old, or something...right?
She walked to the door with her name on it, and she turned to face the strange boy. "Thanks for...helping with my bag." She wasn't really grateful but she was raised with manners, and she wasn't going to forget those. "I should go in and set things up, but it was nice to meet you." She didn't know his name, so it technically wasn't meeting, but either way she was going to be nice to this nutcase.
Kayla politely smiled from the boy and took back her bag from his grasp and set it down close to the door way and offered her hand for him to shake it. It just seemed like the right thing to do at the moment.
