When Rose spoke simply, and smiled fakely, James raised a brow slightly in question. For the first time he made the slightest sign that he had been picking up on all the strange reactions she had been giving him when he asked her certain things. To be honest, she was making him wonder what was going on and if she wasn't careful he'd likely be forced to ask questions and he'd have to do it out of... Concern. That was never good because concern had to be honest to actually work, it was the hardest thing to lie about and honestly wasn't worth his time.
"You almost sound hopeful that I you won't be my mentor... Getting tired of me already huh?" He said with a charming grin, no, he was going to flirt with her a LOT more before he ever gave up, "Besides, I wouldn't call it flirting. Flirting is telling someone what they want to here, I don't do that. I am a realist, I only say what I see, and the more beautiful something is that I see well... The more I have to tell the truth about it." This was accompanied by a slight wink, yes he was pouring it on fairly thick now, but he was intent on cracking down that wall.
"Well, if you haven't noticed ma'am. It's only when things try to kill me that I start having fun." He said with a chuckle, referring to the first time they met and she saw him riding the bronc. That was only the first of many, many times he had done that. It was very true, them ore something tried to kill him, the more fun he had, he was an adrenaline junky and it was going to kill him someday.
After just a short ways of walking, they began going down short hallway, stopping at the door at the end. James stared in the office, seeing a single person inside, he glanced back at Rose when she smirk. A broad smile spread across his face at her words, "What? You think I'm a trouble maker or something? Fine, I'll admit it... I do get a little naughty sometimes." It was very obvious that James was not talking about general behaviour at all, and was alluding to something that was for... more mature audiences.
James stepped inside the office, giving a slight grin to Rose as the door closed behind him. After about fifteen minutes or so he stepped back out, holding a few pieces of paper, which he began to fold and put into his pockets. Slowly he walked back over to Rose, "Well, that was pretty easy. They signed me up for all my classes and gave me room... One hundred and something... they didn't tell me who my mentor is yet though." He said with a slight smile, "So how about that tour now that I'm an official student?"

Rose ignored that look he gave her. She didn’t care if he was catching on to her acting strange. Sadly, she realized that he actually might look her up if she continued this way. Okay. She definitely had to work on that. So he didn’t have a reason to ever question her behavior.
”Well, if I’m you’re mentor, you can’t flirt with me. “ Her own smile was just as charming as his own. ”Really? Well, I’m sure you’ll be breaking quite a few hearts during your time here.” He would. She could seriously see this guy making every girl he came across falling for him… And breaking their hearts just for the hell of it. Really, this was just a game to him.
Rose didn’t respond to anything else he said, just smirked that know it all smirk of hers, and shooed him into the office. She considered leaving, but…. Nah, he basically expected her to be there. Sighing, she just took a seat off to the side… and stared at a wall. For fifteen minutes. Very boring, right? Finally though, he came out.
Hopping to her feet, she chuckled. ”You’ll find out who your mentor is at your first lesson, I’m sure.” Oh, how surprising would it be if he was given to her… She’d definitely be shocked. ”Tour it is then.”
She started on the main floor, pointing out important rooms, like the kitchen, then infirmary, etc.

"Correction, I shouldn't flirt with you if you were did turn out to be my mentor... Not couldn't." He said with a slight smirk, "Though I see what you mean, in that case let's hope you're not." She sure was throwing him a lot of mixed signals. One moment she seemed scared of getting close to him, the next she seemed to be pursuing him and wanting him to pursue her, then the next she'd back away again. James knew most women liked to waffle on things, but this was just ridiculous... and definite challenge... In other words, he had to get her to fall for him...
James simply grinned at what else she said, breaking hearts, well that was one of the more fun 'games' he participated only. Usually for one reason though, most, if not all, women will fall for you if you say the right few words. James wasn't simply breaking hearts, he was giving lessons!
If you thought about it, he was teaching women that your heart is a valuable thing and should be saved for someone you really care about, not anyone off the street. So really, he was helping women find themselves and learn what love really is... He should get the frikin nobel peace prize for his work!
"Lead the way then." He said with a slight nod, following behind her as she began to take him down the hall. There was a massive kitchen, a load of classrooms, even an infirmary... Something told him he'd be seeing that place quite a bit. "So, I'm curious, will I get to see your bedroom somewhere on this tour?" James asked with a grin, and obvious sexual undertones.
After a few moments of walking he glanced at the words above a door, then did a double take, "What's in here?" The sign on the door said 'garage', James had to see what a garage in a place like this was like, so he immediately reached for the door handle to open it...

Rose looked deep in thought for a moment, pondering over his words. ”Right. Not sure being your teacher would deter you.” It probably wouldn’t. Well, one thing was true. If she did end up being his Mentor… The coming year would be very, very interesting. Like before, she was reminded that Alucard would probably ruin the whole thing somehow.
As for sending mixed signals…. James didn’t have it nearly as bad as other people. Rose usually wasn’t afraid to lash out for the stupidest reasons. Even against her own family. She didn’t want to scare a new student though. It’d be better if he just thought she was weird then know the truth…
The tour was going pretty well, until he mentioned her bedroom. She shot in an almost dangerous look, but forced herself to soften the look a little. ”Only in your dreams.” Still giving him that half death glare, her response came out just as flirtatious as most her responses. Maybe t hat was the point though. Giving him a look that basically told him he didn’t have what it took to handle a woman like her… That would probably only make him a little more persistent though….
He’d stopped at the garage. Slowing, she stopped a few feet away, turning back to see what had caught his attention. Seeing the sign she grinned. Oh, this would be hilarious. She wanted to see the look on his face when he saw the garage. ”Open the door and find out.”
The garage was huge, probably just as big as the house he’d grown up in in Texas. How was that possible? Most of it was underground though, hence why most people never knew it’s true size. Anyway, it was filled with motocycles, cars, four wheelers, anything with wheels and a motor.

"Not much does." James admitted with a slight chuckle. It was very true, when James set his mind on doing something, absolutely nothing and no one could stop him.
Whether it be extreme determination, or being extremely stubborn, was up for debate. Regardless, it was a trait that intimidated a lot of people from him. Most were used to the kind of person that would go for what they wanted only when the opportunity presented itself. James on the otherhand didn't wait, he MADE the opportunity come to him. It didn't only apply to women either, and was something that turned quite a few off from him for some reason.
The instant Rose shot him that dark look, that very dangerous look, James immediately grinned slightly. The look seemed to say she would kill James if he tried, yet her voice almost sounded... taunting. Though she said 'only in your dreams', what James heard due to the signals she gave him was, 'Try it, I dare you, I want to see if you can handle me'. Well... James couldn't just back down from a dare now could he?
"I'm sure you noticed when we met ma'am but eh... Horses aren't the only thing that I know how to... break." James had moved from sexual undertones straight to innuendo's. All this time it seemed as though James was coming on very strong to Rose, but in reality he was doing something a little more sneaky than that. He was doing his best to make her curious, not curious of what would happen in the bedroom, but curious of him and who and what he was really like. After all, a curious woman was an interested woman...
James hadn't even waiting for Rose to give him permission to open it, he wanted to see this too bad. The door to the garage slowly creaked open, but it was pitch black inside. James reached in and felt along the wall, accidentally bumping the light switch and... immediately freezing at the sight before him. The garage was massive, filled with gorgeous cars, bikes, and every tool you could possibly think of. James' jaw dropped slightly and he slowly stepped inside, looking like a kid who just met Santa Claus...

Rose was playing a dangerous game, openly flirting with this guy, and willingly letting him flirt with her. She didn’t expect it to go anywhere, but…. If it did, it was bad. Rose couldn’t allow herself to get emotionally attached to anyone. She really needed to work on chasing this guy away… But she honestly didn’t want to.
Smirking at him, she spoke once again. ”You’ll learn very quickly. I’m not like any of those other girls you’ve wooed in the past. I think you’ve met your match.” Really. He had. Rose wasn’t like any girl he’d met before. She was just as dangerous as she was beautiful. Actually, even more dangerous.
Slowly she followed him into the garage. His reaction… Made her laugh. All men were the same when it came to cars. She honestly didn’t understand their fascination. As long as it was fast, it worked for her. ”Are you Impressed?” Stepping off to the side, she spotted her own car, which was actually the same make as the one she’d rented in Texas… Only bright red in color.

James could see that he was beginning to wear down that 'wall' that held back her emotions. Though she barely showed it, he could see the interest she had for him, if only slight interest. It would probably take some time to really break it down, but the fact that he had gotten this far was an acheivement by itself. It seemed as though it was all a game to him, as if life itself was one giant thrill ride.
A slight smile touched his lips as she spoke, eventually breaking into a fill grin when she finished, "I have no doubt that you aren't like the others, it's one of the most attracting things about you after all." James said with an overly charming grin, "Besides, it's like I always say though... The more dangerous the mare, the more fun they are to... ride." To an extent, James was testing the waters now, seeing if he could make her blush... If he could, then he had no doubt he had worn down her defenses...
Impressed? Was he impressed? His father owned a fleet of hot rods, muscle cars, collectables and the like; but never let James get within a thousand yards of them. This collection was small compared to his fathers, but the fact that he was this close to them all was... A rush to say the least.
"Wow it's... Can I use the workbench here for my own motorcycle? She got a little banged up on the way over..." James asked, turning to Rose, politely waiting for an answer with a glee in his eyes. If she said yes he would have no doubt that he made the right choice coming here. A massive garage filled with beautiful cars and every tool possible, and he had free reign in there? He was in heaven... if she said yes...

Blush? That wasn’t something most people thought was possible. Even Rose didn’t think she was capable of blushing any more. She couldn’t even recall the last time she had, to be honest. That comment though…. That took her back a moment. He’d had some pretty blatant sexual innuendos before but that….. That was just…. Too much. Though it wasn’t much, her cheeks turned s soft pink. A quick, deep breath rid her face of the color though. No, that wasn’t allowed. She honestly had no come back to that though… So instead, she just cleared her voice and moved on, hoping he’d let it drop…
Thankfully his question helped distract her from her almost blush. Nodded, she made sure not to get to close to him again, keeping a few feet between them. ”Yeah, just make sure to sign the log, so we know what we need to replace.” The log was basically just a clipboard and a piece of paper. There were already a few names on it, with parts and such that they’d used that she school would need to replace the next time they went ‘supply shopping’. ”And as long as you don’t take any parts from cars or bikes. I don’t think anyone would appreciate you tearing apart their ride.” That last part sounded more like ‘touch my car, you’ll wish you were dead.’.

James had been watching Rose closely after she spoke, looking for any sign that what he said would have a positive or negative effect. Then he saw it, the slightest red tinge graced her cheeks. A sly smile spread across his face as she realized she was blushing and quickly tried to get rid of it. With James' tunnel vision when it came to something he wanted, he had been referred to as a hunter before. Well like a hunter, he saw his prey display a little weakness, now was the time to strike.
"Well now I see why they call you 'Rose'." James said with a smirk, referring to her previously red cheeks. Interesting, it would seem as though even the Ice Queen could get a little flushed.
James moved on for now though, walking around the room as Rose spoke to him about the rules of the garage. It was simple enough, just say what you borrowed or what you needed, most mechanic shops worked that way. Regardless, he was on cloud nine now, knowing that there was a room in the mansion just for him.
"Don't worry, I only mess with my own cars... So, do you have a car in here?" James asked as he looked over a fiery red sports car.
(Blegh, crappy post, sorry)

Rose was suddenly scowling. He’d noticed. And, he seemed almost proud of his accomplishment. It irritated her. But he only made it worse by continuing to flirt as she struggled to reign in the previous emotion. Rose was the type who… when she was embarrassed in anyway, she got extremely flustered. And, if it was bad enough, she even got tongue tied. Her best tactic to keep it from getting that bad, was simply get off the subject.
So, with the focus back on the cars, she held back a sigh of relief, still keeping a little distance from him as she trailed behind, as if to make sure he didn’t get lost. His question, and gaze, made her laugh, the woman shaking her head as she approached. ”Funny you would ask that while looking at my car.”
”Now, do you want to continue the tour?” From his reaction earlier, she almost expected him to want to stay, and…. She’d probably never get him to come out willingly. Men and cars…. She’d honestly never understand their fascination. If he was this enthusiastic about the garage, she couldn't wait to show him the hangar...

Even though Rose was refusing to acknowledge his flirts, he knew it wasn't because she didn't like him. In fact, it almost looked as though that blush she had, hadn't gone away completely yet. As if she was still fighting it, James simply couldn't resist. Call it kicking a person while they were down, call it unfair, either way in his mind he was 'winning'. What he meant by that, was that he was making a person that was normally calm, cool, and collected become flustered. His was forcing her out of her element, and as such, getting a look at what she was really like. There was more to this than just flirting...
"Fitting, a beautiful car for a gorgeous woman." He said with a charming smile, "You know, I have to say. You look very sweet when you blush." Yes, James was calling her out on it now, he was curious just how flustered he could make her. He took a step away from the car and took a step closer to her, closing the distance that she was forcing between them.
"We could continue the tour, or, we could find out what happens when North meets West." James said with another charming grin, taking another slow step toward her, "Unless you don't think you could keep up that is." The tables were turning now, he was challenging her, but the sexual undertones were absent. He was obviously referring to something a little more innocent, but something that was still likely to make her blush.

Normally, the saying was, an angry Rose was a dangerous Rose. Sadly, this wasn’t the case…. Not always. A Rose that wasn’t cold and calm was dangerous. She’d never actually been taught to control her power when she was feeling a strong emotion, her family believing they shouldn’t have to. So, in this case, a flustered Rose was a dangerous Rose…. And he was making it worse.
The closer he got, the more flustered she became, and the fact that he was calling her out on the blush…. Well, her face was suddenly red again. She didn’t back down though, and…. It was suddenly written all over her face. Not only was he just flustering her, but he’d realize she was like a cornered big cat. Semi peaceful as long as they weren’t hungry, aggressive when you irritated them. And flustering counted as irritating in this case.
She opened her mouth to say something…. But nothing came out. Slowly she clamped her mouth shut, trying to scowl through her blushing. Finally though, she managed to come up with a response. ”You’re playing a very dangerous game here…” That wasn’t a threat. It was almost… a warning. That if he kept this up, she honestly didn’t know what might happen, but didn’t want him to get hurt…. The cement under their feet started to crack a little.

It was becoming more and more apparent just how flustered Rose was getting from James. The closer he got and the more he said, the more her cheeks began to turn a deeper shade of red. It looked as though her face was about to start on fire, now he had no doubt about it, he had completely torn down whatever wall she had put up. This was James' territory now, though, he didn't know what he was getting himself in to...
"Those are the only kind of games I play..." James said with a sly smirk, taking another step closer. Something he noticed immediately was the Rose was not taking a step back as he made his advance, she was standing her ground. Whether conscious, or sub-consciously, that meant she didn't mind the advance he was making no matter how nervous she seemed. Unfortunately, with everything James didn't notice, one key feature slipped his view; the cracking of the cement. Sometimes it's the little things that you should be paying attention to, it seems...
James took another step closer, so that by now there were only a few inches between himself and Rose, "You know, I have a feeling that you like me quite a bit..." Again, James was calling out her emotions, if only to make her blush more furiously. "So let's find out what would happen if North... meets West..." James said with a very charming smirk as he closed what little distance there was between them, and began leaning in for a kiss... Was this moving fast? For a kiss? Not really, this was actually one of the longest times it had taken James... Unfortunately, some things are meant to be taken slower...

Rose liked to think she wasn’t retreating because she liked him, but because the woman never gave up her ground, or let someone know they were getting to her. Sadly, this usually led to a confrontation. In this situation though… Who knew what might happen.
The closer he got though, the more tense she became, as if ready to pounce at any moment, her fight or flight response weighed heavily towards fight. ”You don’t want to play this one….” It was a pathetic attempt to get him to back off, but it was the only one she could come up with before her tongue tied.
”Like you..? Rose tried to sound sarcastic, like she might laugh at the idea. But, she honestly couldn’t do that. She sounded just as tongue tied as she felt. As he started to move in for a kiss though… She froze. Their lips had just barely touched (Barely enough to be called a peck)… when she reacted. Grabbing him by the arms, she spun around…. And sent him flying across the garage. How was that possible, you might ask? Well, if he looked back, he’d see both her arms coated in dark matter. The throw wouldn’t do any serious damage though, he’d still be in one piece, but he’d wake up with one nasty bruise tomorrow wherever he landed.
Rose didn’t offer an apology, didn’t even look sorry for catapulting him. ”Don’t do that ever again. Her tone... It wasn't just dangerous. It was just... evil. It could send chills up anyone's spine.

James was playing the game he always played now. Play your cards right and you'd come out a winner, play the wrong and you'd get turned down; or at the worst, slapped. He had definitely gotten plenty of slaps in his day, after all, no one can win them all. It was all the risk of the game that enticed him, he doubted he'd ever settle down because of it. His sould craved far too much freedom and far too much excitement to ever consider emotionally liking someone. That just seemed silly to him...
Smirking slightly, he continued to lean in for the kiss, choosing not to say anything for now. Their lips had just touched, just enough for James to feel her kiss, before it felt as though he was blind-sided by a freight train. Something had picked him up and tossed him across the room. James slammed into the far wall, upside down and slid down it, landing in a crumpled mess with his boots hanging down in front of his face, where he could see Rose between them.
"..." James was silent for a moment, as if registering what had just happened, "That... Wasn't... Quite as bad as I expected." James admitted with a shrug. Suddenly the door to the garage burst open and a young man with a woman practically wrapped around his arm were laughing, but immediately stopped when they saw James on the floor and Rose still standing.
They both slowly began to back out, closing the door behind them with fearful expressions on their faces, "No wonder no one gets near her." The girl could be heard saying to the boy just before closing the door. A scuffle could be heard as James fell over and eventually pulled himself to his feet. He'd have a few new bruises, but he'd had worse.
"So... Where exactly are the bedrooms here?" James asked calmly, dusting his shirt off and acting as if nothing happened, though obviously asking for an end to the 'tour'. No, he wasn't scared at all of her, and he wasn't backing down because he was afraid to pursue her anymore. James was bold, very bold, but even he knew when a girl absolutely didn't want any of his advances and occasionally... He'd respect that... Especially if said girl threw him into a wall...
