This school…. Was freaking confusing! Reverie couldn’t count the number of times she’d gotten lost in this place. It really didn’t help she had a pretty poor sense of direction. What made it worse? She’d only been at the school a few days, tops. So, obviously, she hasn’t had enough time to get to know the layout of the school. And she really had no interest in it, considering students were everywhere. Sadly, just hiding in her room for the next three years wasn’t really an option. That did not mean she had to be social though.
So, with her awesome, skull candy head phones covering her ears, ipod in her pocket and blaring some band that most Americans hadn’t heard of, she wandered the halls. Her gaze going right and left. There were several occasions when she ran into someone that had been completely invisible before now, but most the time? Her fellow students went around her, so bumping shoulders was the most contact she had with them. Still not great, and it did make her jump on most occasions, but it was better then head on. There had been at least four students who ran right into her. Then, to make matters worse, they didn’t stop moving, and started swearing, which seeing as she had music blaring, must have been pretty loud for her to hear. And she did hear them. Quite clearly.
Reverie would just sulk off at those moments, shrinking back like a puppy that’d been caught doing something bad. Pretty pathetic. Yeah, she was pretty sure a few of these guys would find her later, she was kind of the perfect bully victim. Oh well, she’d put up with it back home in Scotland, why not here? And how much worse could it be? The only difference was these bullies had powers….. On second thought, they could do a lot worse than your average bully…
Anyway, Reverie was still deep in thought about this new dilemma, when…. By pure accident, she slammed right into the side of a stationary man. Yeah, how the hell did she manage that?! The force was enough to send the five foot tall girl back on her butt with a thud. She blinked, a stunned look on her face, a soft red tint spreading across her cheeks. Quickly she looked up to see if the guy was alright…. Or still stationary for that matter.

It had been almost three weeks since Damien had come to the school to start the school year. Everything had been going incredibly smooth for the lad. He was shooting to the top of all the classes, he was a shoe-in for the rag tag sports team, and already the head of a few little groups around school. All around, he was becoming the guy the most everyone that had ever struggled with their life, loved to hate. It wasn't exactly his fault for it, most of it came from his powers, but it was always inevitable.
Damien would always shoot to the number one position of everything he ever tried, without any effort, and immediately would become hated by everyone that tried and failed. It wasn't that Damien DIDN'T try, in fact, he honestly worked hard at everything he did. It was just the fact that he didn't HAVE to try that always made every so angry. Among the most common to be angry at him, was his sister, who always failed where he always succeeded. Speaking of his sister, where was she? He hadn't seen her in a while, which was always a bad thing...
Either way, Damien had just gotten done playing a little basketball (and winning) and was standing in the hall waiting for some friends to show up. Despite playing basketball for the last few hours, ever hair on his head seemed to be perfectly positioned. Though he wasn't doing anything in particular, something about him just seemed to... Glow, almost eminating from his skin.
Suddenly, someone slammed into his back. Though he barely moved from the hit, he could hear the person slam to the ground behind him. Quickly he turned around and bent over, offering a hand to help the girl up. As he waited for her to accept, he glanced over her to make sure she was ok. She was an attractive you woman, looked a little younger than him, and far to embarrassed than she should be for running into him.
A charming grin spread across his face, "Are you alright ma'am. Took a bit of a tumble there didn't we? I'm sorry about that." Though he apologized, he really didn't need to, after all, it wasn't his fault. Regardless though, he was the cause for her fall, and as such, it was his duty to apologize. Besides, he did feel bad for knocking her over.

In Reverie’s few days here, she’d never seen this guy before, actually, she didn’t see him for several moments. Suddenly, he reappeared though, leaning down towards her, a hand out stretched. She blinked in surprise, her nerves unwilling to listen to her, and making her jump ever so slightly. After a moments hesitation though, she reached out to take it. Almost instantly her face turned a dozen different shades of red. Oh god, why did this guy just…. Glow? Was it a real glow? A power? Just a natural charm? She had no idea. But instantly she felt intimidated, like this guy’s social standing was so far above her own, that just looking at him was against some unwritten law.
Anyway, still beat red, she accepted his hand up. She was so quick about releasing it though that she almost wasn’t standing straight, and just about lost her balance. Even redder, she managed to stay standing, and looked up at him. For a few moments, obviously she didn’t see him, when she did, it just reminded her of how superior this guy was. And, when she slipped the headphones off her ears and around her neck, so she could hear what he said, that suspicion was verified when she was bombarded by his thoughts. The second thing she noticed was the strange concern in both his inner and outer voice. She blinked again. ”Uh…. Ah’m a’right. Sorry, ah dinnae see ye….” She shut up, realizing how stupid her accent must sound to this American. Even though it shouldn’t be possible? Her face turned even redder.

Almost immediately, the first thing that became very obvious was how red the poor girls face was. It looked like someone had been slapping her over and over for the past hour and worse, the color seemed to be getting a deeper red the longer she looked at him. Honestly he really did feel bad for her, if not for knocking her down then for making her feel so embarrassed. It was an honest mistake after and EVERYONE had been there, at the point where they were so embarrassed that they could hardly talk... Well, everyone except for Damien that is, he honestly couldn't remember the last time he felt embarrassed... If ever.
Either way, back to the girl. She was cute, definitely, and with the blushing, she looked like a real sweetheart. Damien really couldn't remember seeing the girl around before, and he was usually pretty good with faces. When she spoke though, it was definite, he had never met her before. He would remember an accent like that, a very unique accent, sounded somewhat familiar but he couldn't place a finger on it.
"That's alright, I was hidden pretty good standing in the middle of the hall." A soft, comforting, smile spread across his lips; he was most definitely just teasing her a little, trying to lighten the mood and absolutely no ill intentions were meant from the comment, "I must say, that is a very interesting accent you have, and I don't believe I've seen you around before, where are you from?" As he spoke, he wondered if the girl was alright. Hopefully he didn't hurt her... If he did, either he was a lot stronger than he thought, or she just had very bad balance... maybe both? Either way, he'd feel bad.

Yup. This guy was definitely higher up on the social food chain then her. But, seriously, who wasn’t? Reverie was so low on it, you couldn’t even say she was on it. She’d fallen off the chart. How pathetic. The loser even the losers rejected. Anyway! That wasn’t the point! The fact was, just one look assured her he was high enough he shouldn’t even know she exists. And yet…. His thoughts, and even his actions, did NOT match that of your usual socialite. Usually, they were the most volatile ones at schools! So while she expected vile thoughts and maybe a somewhat pleasant response (or being yelled at, that happened to), she found something completely different on her hands.
He seemed…. Honestly concerned? Not only that, she heard that thought about her being cute and looking like a sweet heart. Well, she was already blushing as is, so he probably wouldn’t think much of the extra color to her cheeks. Her blushing only got worse when she heard that mild interest in his thoughts about her accent. So, as she mentally prepared herself for that question, she was completely blindsided by the teasing comment.
Reverie opened her mouth to say…. Well, anything, but no words came to mind. After a moment, she quickly closed her mouth, and just stared at him with the most surprised, and still embarrassed, look ever. Honestly, could those electric blue eyes of hers get any bigger? Probably not. After a moment though, that mouth opened again, her surprised look turning to complete bewilderment. ”Yer…. Jok’in?” It took her a moment. If it wasn’t for that cheerful, teasing tone, she would have thought he was making fun of her! Honestly, she wasn’t all that sure what to do in this situation!
After a moment though, she managed to regain some of her composure, sure she was still beat red, but she didn’t look totally tongue tied. ”Ih wouldna been possible to meet afore. Ah only got ‘ere a few days ago.” A short pause as she wondered if she’d said to much. Oh god, please don’t think her a freak! ”Ah’m from Scotland, originally.”

That was where most people made the mistake when they met Damien, assuming he was just like every other jock/popular kid on the block. Sure, on the social ladder he was always at the very top (sometimes even bringing in a ladder where there wasn't one) but that doesn't mean it was by choice. Never once did Damien wake up and think "Hmm, I hope I am still popular today". Just like everything else, it just came to him naturally and without effort and was one of the few things he DIDN'T try to do.
When he finished speaking, there was absolute silence for a few seconds. Seconds turned into minutes it felt like and he slowly raised a brow as if to ask if she was still alive when she finally spoke in the cute accent again, "I believe so, yes... Because you see, the joke of it is that I wasn't hiding at all... That's where the humor was supposed to be, but apparently was lost somewhere along the way." He said with a slight grin, again trying to tease her a little. She seemed far to nervous for her own good.
Finally she seemed to realize that he was in fact talking to HER, and came back to reality, he chuckled slightly, "Well, that does make sense then... And Scotland? That's pretty awesome, I really love the accent. It's got quite a bit of fire to it." Sure, she was a little hard to understand, but honestly, he liked it. Scottish wasn't bad, the British accent annoyed the hell out of him though, hers was cute.
Suddenly, someone came from behind the girl and pushed her on the shoulder, "Hey, you ran into me earlier asshole, made me spill my coke... Trying to start something?" The man asked with a very confrontational voice. Damien immediately stepped forward, between the girl and the man, imposing his full height and sizer of the smaller man.
"I think it would be in your best interest to back off, friend. I'm sure she was sorry." An almost unnatural need to protect the girl swept over Damien, not just because she was cute, but even if she had been a guy... He couldn't help it, he HAD to end conflicts, almost as if he couldn't stop himself. The man eyed Damien up for a moment, as if debating whether or not to fight him, but when he took a step forward he tripped and slammed onto the ground.
A stroke of good luck, perhaps, but regardless, the man was incredibly embarrassed and simply glared at Damien and the girl before walking away. "Sorry about that, he didn't mean it. Some of the kids here can be a little... Forward... Names Damien by the way, miss?" He asked, turning around and holding out his hand with a charming grin.

Really, this guy was different from anyone she’d ever met. His interest wasn’t just skin deep, like most. He…. From these few moments, seemed to be the only guy she’d ever met, that’s kindness was through and through. Which was…. Odd to say the least. What’s stranger? For his status, he shouldn’t even know she exists, yet he thought the word cute again! In the same sentence as her! Once, was nearly unheard of. Twice? Impossible!
And, even more amazing? He was still joking! Almost like….. Well, like he was treating her like a friend! Was it delusional of her think that? His thoughts didn’t say anything about him thinking of her that way…. So why…? ”Oh… Um….. Ah’m sorry!” The way she apologized, it was almost like she was apologizing for accidently ruining the joke. And she was. Talk about awkward….
”Ye….. do?” Of course he did, she could read his mind! Still, it was strange for her to hear a compliment, any sort of compliment, outside of thoughts. For some reason, she almost added the whole “yeah, if only I had a firey personality to match”. It was pretty well known that Scots were a spitfire bunch. And somehow? They ended up having a coward like her… Yeah, sore subject. Time to think about so-
Without warning (there was one, she was just more focused on this guy’s thoughts and not the other people around), someone shoved her. The force was enough to send her stumbling several feet, and when she finally regained her balance and turned to look in the direction, she looked more like a startled rabbit than anything else. As in, heart about to give out startled rabbit. Honestly, it probably wouldn’t surprise someone if she fainted from shock. The girl was ten times easier to scare then most. Not only because she was…. Well a coward, but also because when you can’t see people, it just makes you incredibly jumpy, because they are known to appear randomly with out warning.
When she heard the guy’s thoughts, she flinched. Okay, this was going to hurt….
Amazingly? The guy, the handsome popular one? He stepped right in, without missing a beat. Honestly, his reaction was…. Almost heroic. And his thoughts matched that heroism! She was stunned beyond speech. The intruder, the one who wanted to clobber her, suddenly vanished, but the sound of something, or someone in this case, hitting the ground filled in the blanks. He’d tripped… And just like that, his thoughts retreated, the man gone in seconds.
So, when the popular guy turned back to her, Damien he called himself, she blinked a few moments (as she waited for him to stop moving), before, very (VERY!) shyly smiling, which make her blush again, and reaching out her own hand to shake his. ”Reverie. McIntyre.” A small pause as she released his hand, quickly bringing her own back to her and that small shy smile vanishing. ”Ah aint mean’in ta sound rude, but ‘e meant ih. ‘E wanted ta squash me like a bug.”

"You know, if you apologize for a joke, it takes a lot of the 'funny' away." He said with a slight laugh, she really was socially awkward. Though, with how apologetic she was for it all, it was like watching a baby deer try to walk. She was staggering all over the place, but it only ended up adding the how sweet it all was. Honestly, he had never met a girl that was so inept with a conversation, it was endearing.
"Well, yes, it's a good accent, a strong one, but very sweet. I really do like it." His tone was doubly reassuring because honestly, it seemed like this girl really didn't believe him. She kept repeating everything he was saying and confirming it as if unsure whether he was being honest. Did he seem the dishonest type?
When the jerk finally left, and he turned back to the girl, she looked like a dog that had just been whipped and had it's tail between it's legs. Watching her for amoment, he was about to ask if she was ok when she finally spoke, "Reverie? Beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He said with the slightest wink. Now Damien wasn't a flirt by any means, so when he said something, he honestly meant it; there was no attempt to gain anything on his mind. "
I have no doubt that he intended to." Damien said with a slight grin, "Hence why I stepped in... Are you ok?" Damien asked with a slight concerned look, leaning closer to her a little. Something seemed a little off, like she was having trouble focusing. Hopefully she wasn't hurt from running into him...

Reverie opened her mouth, to apologize for…. Apologizing, when she realized how stupid that would sound. Quickly she closed it, hoping he didn’t notice her slip up. How awful would that be?! So embarrassing, she’d want to run and hide! LITERALLY! How could she be such a screw up in front of this cute guy?!
… It was a good thing she was the mind reader and not him.
Wait, was he comparing her to a baby deer? Oh great…. She failed that much?! Yup. Time to crawl under a rock and never come out. She was going to die a quick and painful social death. Maybe he was a telepath and somehow making her believe these were his real thoughts? Maybe he was secretly laughing at her, and her inability to communicate. Yup. Social death, here she comes…
”Ah….. Ah see….” Honestly, how as she supposed to respond to that? He was seriously complimenting her. And she felt, well, obliged to respond! But what did you say in this situation other than thank you? Wait a minute… Why didn’t she just say that?! ”Uh-Um. Thanks.”’
Really, this guy was probably the nicest, most honest guy she’d ever met. Not only actions, but thoughts as well. She hadn’t caught a single mean or insulting comment. Not once. It was a little eerie, but…. You know what? She really, really liked it. For once in her life, she was talking to someone who was just as nice in actions as thoughts! So, of course, when he flirted with her, HONESTLY flirted, her face was bright red once again. ”Ah…. Um…. Thank…” She shut up, forcing her mouth closed in fear of rambling. She tried to smile a little, and failed, epically, only making her face redder.
”W-well, thank ye fur…” She stopped herself once again. Oh, crap. He was zeroing in on her. Again she tried to smile, but it faltered when he moved, faint traces of a confused look visible on her expression. After a moment though, he was still once again. ”ah…. Ah’m a’right…” Not quite the truth, because, she knew what he meant by the question, but… Honestly? It was hard explaining her… Disability. And a lot of people thought it made her a bigger freak then she already was. So if she could help it? Might as well keep her secrets…. Don’t want to scare off the cute boy who didn’t seem to realize how weird she was…

The girl was definitely becoming a little more interesting to Damien, partially because of how awkward she was; it was very amusing but in a good way. Not to mention it was rare to meet someone in the mansion that was so... Well... Inept at talking in a social situation. Sure, in his few weeks here he had seen people he would call psychopaths, popular kids, outcasts, but most of them embraced their mutations and rolled with the punches. This girl however, it seemed like if you said the right thing, you could probably make her blush until she passed out... It was endearing.
"Think nothing of it, I really meant it." When Damien said he meant something, heck, even when he SAID something you could ALWAYS be certain that he really did mean it. After all, that stupid side-effect to his powers was always a nuisance. The fact that he absolutely COULD NOT lie sometimes made for some embarrassing situations... Mostly when his sister was around, other times though, it didn't matter because he'd probably tell the truth regardless.
Back to the subject at hand, Reverie was more correct in thinking that he was the most honest man she had met, than she thought. As mentioned, poor Damien couldn't tell a lie. It wasn't just a desire to tell the truth, he literally could not lie, it was absolutely impossible. Not to mention he couldn't be lied to, so, there were some advantages to it. Like being able to tell who was two-faced or not, "You know, you should try to relax a little. I mean, you look cute when you blush and all, but if you don't start breathing normal I may have to take you to the infirmary." He said with a slight chuckle.
As she spoke, trying to assure him she was alright, the strange expression on her face. Obviously she wasn't lying about being alright, otherwise he'd be able to tell, but something told him that there was more to her than what met the eye. Acting on a hunch, he took a step to her right, then back to her left, before stopping again right in front of her; immediately noticing that her eyes didn't follow him as he moved, "Sorry if I may be forward in asking this but... Are you... Blind?" If she was, her shocking (and gorgeous) blue eyes would make sense, if not... Then apparently they were just naturally that alluringly blue.

This guy really was strange. For some reason, he was honestly, interested in her. For no ulterior motives, no wants, nothing… Just…. Cause he honestly seemed to like her a little. This was…. A first. For some reason though? She could get used to this…. A person that was just as honest and good as they said they were.
A moment passed, as she opened her mouth to respond, before closing it again and staring at him for a moment. It wasn’t what he said that made her hesitate. It was his thoughts. He… couldn’t lie? Maybe that explained why he was just as honest in person as in thoughts…. But… What would make it impossible for someone to lie? The poor girl didn’t make the connection that this might be a part of his power. ”C-cute?!” That did not help her blushing. It only made it worse. Yeah, she just might blush until she passed out.
Poor girl, she was so focused on trying to… well, breath, that she didn’t catch his little scheme before acting on it. Her face flushed even redder as he disappeared from her vision. ”N-No’ exactly….” Okay, breathing was getting really hard now… ”Ih’s….. Ih’s jus’ motion…”

"Yes cute, it means... sweet?" Damien said, thinking that perhaps she didn't understand. After all, if he remembered right, the Scottish spoke their own language so perhaps she just didn't know what it meant? Then again, with how much she was blushing, he doubted that she didn't know. In fact, it really was kind of sweet how much she was blushing. It was rare for Damien to do this to someone, mostly because he wasn't the type to flirt, so the fact that she was blushing without him really flirting was fairly amusing.
As she spoke more, Damien went from a joking mood to being truly concerned of whether or not she was going to pass out from lack of oxygen. If he could tone down whatever was making her so nervous he would, but honestly, he couldn't figure out what was making her so nervous, "Ah, just motion?... Motion blindness then? I've read a little bit about that, that's pretty interesting." Damien meant it too, he really couldn't remember much about the disorder but the name itself kind of gave away it's symptoms. The fact that anything that moved made her blind to it was a little strange, but intriguing.
"Well, don't worry about it. There are people here with far worse conditions than that." He said with a slight laugh, trying to ease her nervousness, "Speaking of 'conditions'... What is it that you can do, if you don't mind me asking." Mutations were very interesting to him, mostly because of the wide variety of all of them. So far he hadn't met anyone at the mansion that DIDN'T have some sort of cool power. Comparatively, it seemed like his was a little lame...

”Ah….. Ah know wha’ ih means…” Did it help that he was actually defining cute? Not at all. Or that, once again, his thoughts matched his speech. ”Ah’m just….. just…. Sur..prised…” Her voice got very, very quiet as she spoke, the word surprised barely even audible.
His concern was heartfelt (Thankfully ,it didn’t make her blushing worse for once.), making that shy smile reappear for a fraction of a second. Honestly, she didn’t know why she smiled, hence why it vanished so quickly. ”Ye ‘ave?” Honest surprise crossed her face, those crazy eyes of hers widening a little. Most people didn’t even know it was possible for someone to see everything but motion. But, you know, the brain can do some pretty weird things.
”Ah… uh, ya. Yer righ’.” It was crazy, that even a harmless conversation like this managed to make her tongue tied. Is this what you’d call…. A crush..?! NO! Heavens no! That was impossible. She’d just met the guy! It was probably…. I don’t know, maybe that was his power. People liking him? That’d… make sense. ”Ma…. Power..?” Instead of her face turning red, it actually seemed to drain, until she actually looked a little pale. ”Ah…… Ah’m sorry… Ih donnae mean too.. Bu’…” she fell silent for a moment. ”Ih’s….. mind… read’in…” She seemed to brace herself, as if waiting for him to yell at her for accidently being in his head.

"Surprised about what?" Damien asked curiously, raising a brow slightly. Did she find it insulting? From how much she was blushing, and how quietly she was speaking, he didn't think she was insulted. Hopefully she wasn't, now he was confused... Woman, whether they were his sister or some cute girl in the middle of the hall, they all made about as much a sense. At least this one hadn't tried to hurt him yet...
"Yeah, I have. I mean, I don't know much about it other than, you know, the name and the condition and everything, but I've heard of it." He said, trying to remember just where he read it. Maybe it was his parents that mentioned it and he had just looked up on it a little, honestly he couldn't remember and probably would have forgotten about it had he never met this girl. Quiet the coincedence considering how rare it was.
Damien nodded when she said he was right, "Yeah, I can promise no one will give you a hard time for it, and if they do, just call me." He said with the slightest grin, and he meant it. If she was ever in trouble or was being bullied, all she had to do was tell him and he'd help out... He honestly wouldn't be able to stop himself, partially because he COULDN'T stop himself from helping people in need and partially because well... She was pretty cute.
When she said what her power was, Damien paused for a moment, thinking about the uses of her power before chuckling a little, realizing she was probably reading his mind right now, "Haha, well that could definitely have it's uses huh? Bet you're a killer at poker." He said with a slight grin, suddenly his name was called from the living area, his friends had finally arrived.
"Well hey, I gotta go but, it was really nice to meet you Reverie. You'll definitely be seeing me around." The fact that he said "seeing me around" and she couldn't seem motion probably shouldn't have been a little funny but it was. Though he wasn't laughing at her or her disability, more along the lines of his choice of words. Either way, he gave her a slight wave, realizing she couldn't see it and feeling a little stupid... Before heading toward the living area, something told him they would meet again soon and honestly... He'd be looking forward to it.
