Alucard was sitting in the infirmary room of the girl he had brought with him back to the institute after that event in New York City the day before. He had somehow managed to get them to the institute alive, if only barely so. He had passed out with her around the time he had gotten near where people would spot them and had woken up in the place that night. One of the people who worked here had the ability to heal others and had managed to repair enough of the damage to his neck to that his neck was more or less back to normal if not bruised and feeling weak. The doctors hadn't treated the girl yet by then, so Alucard was able to convince them she just needed to rest and didn't need any treatment that would reveal her blood to them. He had an idea of what her blood could do after everything, and he knew that it was best no one else knew about it.
Alucard was reading a book in a chair next to her bed. All of this was his fault for being so careless, so he had decided he wouldn't leave her side.

Foreign blood wasn't life threatening to Emmy. It would only make her incredibly, and violently, sick. Strangely though, if she got sick from something other then foreign blood... It was the only thing that could save her. The girl had Primary immunodeficiencies, after all. Basically? It meant her immune system didn't work. So, if she did get sick, the only way for to to stay alive, was for healthy white blood cells to be injected into her to fight off the viruses or bug for her. Interesting, how the only way for her to get better was to make her even sicker.
Maybe if the doctors had run a few tests they'd realize how much potential harm they were putting her in, by not having her in a clean room... After all, infirmaries and hospitals were breeding grounds for illnesses...
She'd worked up a fever, and, at the same time, chills. Thankfully, his attempt to remove most the corrupted blood had helped. She wasn't coughing up, or throwing up blood. Well.... Yet. The fact she was still sick meant at least some was still in her body.
Emily must have blacked down, because she couldn't recall anything past her brother reassuring her. The first thing she was really aware of was a strange smell. Almost like... A hospital. But, it wasn't that sterile, clean room smell she was used to when she had to go to the hospital. To her, it smelled like disease...
Her stomach churned, both from the idea that she wasn't in a clean room, and from the last remnants of foreign blood in her system. With out even a second thought, she rolled onto her side and threw up blood over the side of the bed. (Thankfully it wasn't the side Alucard was on.) It wasn't her normal (but strange) silver blood though, it was gray, closer to black then silver, probably from his mixing with her own. But at least her body had finally expelled the remaining foreign blood.

Alucard was still sitting next to the girl reading his book. If the room was unclean, Alucard wouldn't have noticed or really been effected since most diseases and bugs traveled in the body using the blood and his blood mutation caused his blood to attack that kind of thing when it was in his blood. He had gotten sick once with the flu after he had used up his powers too much and he was glad he didn't have to deal with it as much as other people did. His powers were also very shaky right now after having to push them so much the day before. He had tried to manipulate his own blood and even it took some concentration to pull off. He was turning the page in his book as he thought about that when the girl suddenly threw up. Alucard quickly closed his book and was over at her side by the time she had finished throwing up what he guessed was blood. He noticed it had the same look as it had when his blood mixed with her blood. He had missed some of it when he tried to draw it out before.
" Are you alright now or are you going to throw up more blood?" Alucard asked her. " What do you need me to do?"
Alucard hardly ever asked what he could do for people, but he was worried about this girl and the condition she was in was his fault.

Shaun walked up toward the entrance of the school, dressed in a new clean outfit. Beige this time, light tan overcoat, with a white under shirt, yellow sunglasses squarish in shape...and he had to admit he looked stylish...after all appearances could sometimes turn out to be all important.
It was easy enough getting in, after all he was only here to pick up his little sister, the poor thing must be scared stiff at this point. He thanked the staff at the front desk, people were always so helpful, if ya had a little charm and seemed a bit down on your luck, and he started heading down the hallway toward the infirmary. As he walked he took out a handful of quarters out of his pocket and started flipping them with his thumb one or two times, before letting them lay where they may whether in the hallway or against the wall. Currency always had something to do with the luck of the Irish and Shaun was no slouch to forget tradition.
As he reached the door to her room Shaun held his hands above his head in a peaceful sign of surrender as he headed inside. Catching the attention of the boy reading the book he spoke a submissive and forgiving manner with a charming Irish accent: "Alright...alright I give...you win boyo. Sorry I went a little crazy on ya back there...see I thought you were out to poison my sister and all...You know how protective big brothers can be ya know. She's the only real thing I got in this world, and I'm sorry I got in such a nasty scuffle with ya there. In fact..." he said pulling something out of his vest pocket. "I took some of the liquid you gave her off the ground and had it analyzed...ya know being suspicious and all..." he said looking sheepishly down at the ground. "Turns out you were only trying to help the poor girl...stuff makes the blood grow back quicker, makes ya healthy..." he said pulling out a bottle of the same liquid and giving it to him. "I had my boys whip some up and test it and all...I figure it's only right to give ya back a bottle considering we went and wasted it on ya...along with your good intentions Shaun continued looking at the ground embarrassed.

With the last of Alucard's blood out of her system, the girl's fever started to pass, her chills gone all together. She'd recover quickly, because she was only sick as long as foreign blood was in her body. Gasping, she continued to lean over the side of the bed, waiting to see if there was any more. Nothing.
She was about to let out a sigh of relief when she heard an unfamiliar voice. Violently she flinched, shying away from where she heard the voice come from. The voice was completely foreign until she finally looked at him. To say she was freaked was an understatement. Her eyes searched the room, desperately trying to find her brother. He wasn't there... She was alone in here... With a stranger...
Instinct took over. She put as much distance between herself and him as possible, at the top of the bed before he probably even realized what happened, her back pressed tightly against the wall. "W-Where a-a-am I?" The girl sounded so terrified you'd expect her heart to stop at any moment. "Where's S-Shaun? Where's my b-brother?"
She was almost in shock. She was rarely separated from her brother for any long period of time. And waking up to find a stranger rather then Shaun? Talk about a rude awakening...
There was a light at the end of the tunnel though, because as terrified as she was, it was then that he came to her rescue. He'd calmed down considerably since yesterday, she could tell because his accent was showing through. It only did that when he was calm or cheerful. It was rather interesting how he had an Irish accent and she didn't... Okay, that was a bit of a lie. She could speak with one if she really tried, but when you already had a stutter, accents got a little tricky.
Slipping off the bed, she gave the unfamiliar older teen a wide berth as she retreated to her brother's side. She didn't say anything, just threw her arms around his torso, burying her face in his chest. She fought to keep tears from coming, holding onto him a little tighter.

Alucard was worried about the girl after she had thrown up, but she seemed to be feeling better now. She might not have been in the best of conditions, but she was well enough to freak out and look like she was about to faint from terror at any moment. Alucard saw that as being a good sign, even though most people wouldn't. He was about to try and calm her down when he heard a voice that was slightly familiar. He knew who it was though before he even looked because of how the girl reacted. It seems her brother had come for her sooner then he thought he would. Alucard turned around and looked at the man. He was acting different then he had yesterday, and it was too big of a change as far as Alucard saw it. He was silent for a moment as he decided on what to do.
" Mind shutting the door?" Alucard asked in a voice without any emotion in it.
Alucard waited for the door to be closed. He looked the man up and down slowly.
" It seems I was right about that not being enough to kill you. That is good. You can drop the meek and coy act as well with me, I don't trust it and I'm sure your just trying to get something. I don't trust people very easy mind you, so don't take any offense. I'm pretty sure I figured out what your sister's mutation is. Her blood amplifies mutant powers correct?" Alucard said to the man in a voice that said he wasn't going to be hostile even if he wasn't being friendly. " After the effects of you drinking her blood and the little bit that got in my cut while I was trying to help her yesterday make me believe so. I didn't tell anyone about it and I made sure they didn't mess with her blood or give her any transfusions. It would be dangerous if others found out, am I correct?"

Shaun smiled sheepishly as their secret had been found out:
"Aiie laddy, you be right in guessin that. Her blood, does indeed seem to enhance mutant powers, and if other mutants, or possibly even other people knew about it, it would be bad news for me and my sis. Also any fiddling with her blood makes her violently ill, she gets sick real easy ya see." Shaun paused for a moment going over to his sister's bed and sitting next to her stroking her head gently as she laid against him. "We discovered her power a few years ago...when she got sick...at first I thought it was a godsend, though an awfully ironic one considering how much this power hurt my sister, but with my enhanced powers I was able to duplicate human tissue and sell it off for money."
"I know it was wrong, but I just didn't know what else to do ya see...I'm her only living relative and her legal guardian, and money was a little tight...we were trying to make due with welfare, but with my sister's illness..." Shaun's voice got quieter and trailed off into silence for a moment as he seemed deep in reminiscent thought.
"Anyway!" Shaun said with a start in an obvious attempt to seem more cheery as he sat up straight and kept his attention on Alucard, with a calm smile on his face. "See what I found out was...that her powers have certain side effects...The withdraws for one, are really nasty...makes your powers impossible to control...and it can have certain...ill effects on your mood as you saw. It seems that after running some tests on it, it is also highly dependent on the individual's genetic code as to whether it will work properly or not, my guys have told me that it could have a variety of horrible side effects if taken by the wrong person, so we decided to not take our chances. Another reason we have to keep things a secret."
"However, if your really that interested you can go ahead and try it for yourself...can't say exactly what it will do to ya...but assuming my sister is willing and able, your welcome to give it a shot."
"Consider it part of our payment for causein ya so much trouble..."

Emily didn't like what the intruder (as she was coming to call him, since she still didn't have a name and didn't know what else to call him) had to say. Her social skills were poor, but the way he asked her brother to close the door... It made her nervous. It made her think he might attack her brother. Optimistic little thing, isn't she?
She froze when she heard the rest of what he said though. He... Knew..? Most people didn't figure it out when the saw Shaun giving himself a dose (or those rare times he had just taken the blood from one of her wounds). At least, not exactly. They might guess, but they were never that sure of it... She looked at him, her gaze still terrified but silently pleading to actually forget what her power was. He hadn't gotten it all, of course, but just that little part alone was enough. He might not intentionally tell others, but what if a Telepath got in his head? Her secret wasn't safe with strangers...
After a few moments though, she just reburied her face in her brother's shirt, clinging tighter to him. She didn't offer any input, if only because it would make her accept how much a burden she could be sometimes. With her immunity issues, there was little she could do in the outside world. Even now, in this disease infested hospital room, she was at risk. Actually, she had a higher chance of catching something here then anywhere else, all because here she was surrounded by sick people. Smart move, school doctors. Maybe they should have run some tests. They at least would have realized their mistake putting her here...
She pulled away a little when her brother mentioned letting the intruder try the boost, so she could look at him, silently asking why he'd do that. He knew how addicting it was, how even the strongest willed people could become dependent on her blood. He'd even told the intruder what the withdrawals could be like. After a moment she looked at the intruder, as if trying to decide if she'd let him. After a moment though, she sigh. "O-Only I-f he p-promises not to t-tell." Emmy was making a conscious effort, to control her nervous stutter. After saying that, she reburied her face, this time more for precautions sake. Hospital air, after all, was filled with germs.

Alucard listened to what the both of them had to say to him. He wasn't sure why the guy was offering to let him try some of her blood. He had already had a very tiny dose of it get into his cut yesterday and he was feeling the effects of it now, even if they were mild. He could feel a pang of a craving to get more of the girl's blood and his powers had been harder to control. He decided he should just go ahead and tell them what he was going to do.
" I don't plan on trying her blood and I am not going to ever try her blood." Alucard said to the guy. " You don't have to worry about trying to repay me anything for what happened yesterday. I hit her with a blood bullet yesterday so if anything I owe her something."
Alucard turned his attention to the girl. He picked up his satchel that was black with crimson roses and petals on it and walked over to her. He held it out to her.
" Here, you can have this as a way of apology for what I had done to you yesterday. I noticed the bag you had didn't really suit a girl as cute as you, but this one should." Alucard said to her in his attempt at a friendly voice. " Also, I won't tell anyone what I know. You have my word on it little bird."
Alucard turned his attention back to the guy and said, " I don't trust you by the way, but I owe the little bird. I doubt you will consider it, but if she needs my help I am willing to do what SHE needs of me."

"Well...I can understand that....granted Em here isn't much for strangers...so that's her choice...but unfortunately we have to get going...this place is a breeding ground for germs ya see, and we have to get her out of here and back to our clean sterile environment before she gets any sicker."
he said as he stood and headed to the door with his hands on his sister's shoulders in front of him. As they reached the door he turned around one more time and said something:
"Thank you very much for the bag though, I'm sure she appreciates it even if she doesn't say so."
With that they were out the door and down the hall to the left, toward the exit that led straight outside. They walked fairly silently for a moment on the way to his car (it was a JAG), and once they were far enough away Shaun picked up his cross that laid around his neck.
"May God be with ya Boy'o" he said has he did a quick cross motion in the air and kissed the cross causing the red gem in the middle to be pressed in.
There was a massive explosion as the entire infirmity and some of the wing around it suddenly evaporated in flames. The Quarter's Shaun had dropped throughout the wing as well has is little present he presented to Alucard was all wired to explode....and it did so in a spectacular fashion, after all making explosives was just a tool of the trade when you lived the kind of life Shaun did.
Shaun kept walking unaffected by the mayhem and carnage behind him. After a few minutes he stopped as if he just remembered something and took something out of his jacket pocket and tossed it at Emily. "Oh, here" It was a copy of the PS2 game ICO. "Oh by the way that is a really nice bag...you should keep it...after we check it of course."
They got in his car and drove off. Today was a good day.

Emily let out a sigh of relief when he said he didn't want to try her blood again. She didn't have any problem having blood drawn, but... She rather liked the idea that only Shaun was the one using her blood (even though she knew it wasn't true.). As he turned his attention to her though, she shifted, so it would be harder to see her around her brother. It was just like a child, shying away from strangers.
His 'gift' made her hesitate, slowly looking at the intruder, then up at her brother, wordlessly asking if it was alright. He didn't seem to have any problem, so, cautiously, she unwrapped her arms from around her brother's torso. With quite a bit of hesitation, she carefully reached out to take the bag. ".... Thank you..." She wasn't just thanking him for the gift, but also for keeping her secret... But she was still worried, especially after what he said to her brother afterwards....
She looked at her brother when he finally seemed to realize the potential danger this place was to her. She'd probably already caught something, considering she'd been here overnight, with no one aware of her medical issues. She didn't need to be told twice, she'd been ready to leave this place before she even woke up. As her brother ushered her out the door, her gaze stayed on the intruder, obviously suspicious, and silently telling him to stop provoking her brother. If they ever met again that is. Then, she looked away, in a 'I still don't like/trust you though' sort of way.
She was silent as they left, thoughts focused on why she'd been brought here in the first place. And just what this place was to begin with. It looked like... A mansion of sorts. "What is this place?" She didn't get a response, but that was understandable. He might not know, or he just might not want to tell her. Either way, when he spoke, she looked at him... And knew what would happen.
Of course he'd get his revenge. Her brother was angry with the teenager for what happened, and when he was angry about something he didn't let it go. He got even. The explosion made her flinch, but otherwise, she pushed it to the back of her mind. It was her coping mechanism for what Shaun did. To just do her best to ignore it.
Emily had actually thought he'd forgotten that she wanted a new game, so she was a little surprised by his tossing her a game case. She fumbled a little to catch it, but when she did... A huge smile crossed her lips. "You didn't forget." She nodded when he said to keep the bag, the girl glancing down at it. It was pretty, she had to admit. In the car, she just curled up, leaning against the door, and closing her eyes. She was tired, even though she'd been unconscious the whole day, and it would probably be a ways drive back home...

Alucard wasn't surprised the little bird didn't like or trust him after everything. He would have had a hard time to trust it as well if he was in her shoes. He liked the girl though, she was like him in several ways. He didn't like her brother though and he had absolutely no trust in the man. He looked at the bottle that he had left behind and had claimed was the same kind as the liquid he had used to try and help the girl. The color was right, but the liquid inside was very off. It was far too dense and stagnant to be the same kind of thing as what he used to cure his blood lose. He wasn't sure what it was, but he wasn't about to touch it let alone pick it up and try it. He had waited for the man to leave with the girl and left for his room right after they had gone out of sight.
Alucard watched as several people picked up some coins off the ground as they walked towards him in the opposite direction he was going. Something about how the coins looked was off. He picked one of them up and took a closer look at it. He wasn't sure what it was, but this was not a real coin. The metal was close to but not quiet the right color, it was slightly thicker then it should be, and some of the symbols on it where not quiet in the right spot. He wasn't surprised the sheep didn't notice the difference, but why hadn't anyone else noticed the differences in them yet? He dropped the coin back to the ground and started to walk towards his room once more. He had gotten a short distance away, when he heard the sounds of an explosion coming from where he had been. He barely had enough time to force his blood into a shield behind him when the explosion hit him.
Alucard was luck that his shield managed to absorb most of the impact from it, but he was still launched forward and slammed into the wall at the end of the hallway. He slowly stood up after a moment and looked around. The area where the infirmary and some of the other wings had been located at had been reduced to rubble. It didn't take much to know what had happened, that man had left behind explosives and detonated them after he was a safe distance away. Alucard was right not to trust that man at all.
