Faolan. He was gone. She didn’t even want to think about it. She didn’t know what had become of Devika or David. All she knew was that she had taken a chance to escape and did it. She could be no help to them as a prisoner. She had run as far as she could and then burrowed into the hollowed out roots of a massive tree where she slept for two days. Keeping to the woods, she made her way back to her grandfather’s school. Where else could she go?
Had she been on the road her journey would have been easier and she may have been given a ride, but she would have been found easier as well. She didn’t know how long it took her to reach her destination. All she knew was that her clothes were in shreds, her hair was a tapestry of mud, twigs, and dead leaves, her shoes were useless, and she was in desperate need of a bath and an actual meal.
She pressed on through the thick trees, not noticing when they thinned out. She kept her eyes on her feet in what little light the moon supplied. Ayden was so focused on walking that she didn’t even notice she was no longer engulfed in trees. She shook her head, dazed at the thought that she was actually here. She tried to calculate how long it had taken her to get here. What time was it now? She didn’t know. All she knew was that her voyage was over. At least this part. She wasn’t sure how she got to the door but she did. She gazed up at it for a moment before knocking loudly.

Nix sat on the edge of the window sill by the female dorms and looked out of the window at the night outside, shadows cut through the trees of the forest and over the courtyard and nix smiled, she loved the night. She stood up and looked over her sholder and then pulled her black leather coat up over her dark green pyjamas and leaned out of the window and looked down, there wasn't anyone below her or nearby so she'd be fine. She bent down on the window sill and then sprang forwards and dropped down to the grass below.
She stood up and looked around and then looked back up at the window, she'd be able to get back in quickly again as long as no-one shut it this time, she rolled her eyes at her memories and then stuck her hands in her pockets and walked round the outside of the school to the front and sat down on bench and looked around, the trees were moving in the slight breeze and their leaves were dancing ,she smile as the breeze brushed her hair over her face and then laughed quietly. She paused as she heard a sound to her right and stood up and tensed her hands, she took a step forwards and stopped someone on the top steps leading into the school, they were knocking on the door, who ever she was, she seemed a little upset so nix lowered her fists and took a small step out from behind the wall and paused before waving

Ayden had felt Nix coming from what seemed to be forever away. Yet everything had become distant. She couldn't focus and her head was throbing. It was probably because she was so exhausted. It seemed that Nix failed to noticed that Ayden was coated in mud and wearing rags.
Normally, due to her lack of desire to speak, she would just send a message through the girl's mind and be done with it, but she was tired and didn't want to strain herself too much. She swallowed a lump in her throat and opened her mouth to speak for the first time in weeks.
"Do you know if my grandfather's awake?" she asked weakly, not even turning to look at the girl. "I need to speak with him." Here she swallowed again, not sure if it was to bite back tears or to dampen her parched throat. "I didn't know where else to go."
She wouldn't have been surprised if Nix had no idea what she was talking about. Not many people in the school knew that Charles Xavier had such a colorful past, let offspring of his own, which came down to her.

Nix tilted her head to one side as the girl spoke and moved closer and then saw her properly in the light of the doorway, she was coated in mud and dirt and her clothes had been reduced to raga that were barely clinging to her. Nix ran forwards and held out a hand ,"you want to lean on me?" she asked and then gave a small freindly smile ,"I really don't want to be rude but you look like your going to drop down to the floor in a matter of seconds" she explained and then paused. The girl had asked about her grandfather.
Nix flicked her fingers slightly and felt the buzz of energy rolling off the other girl, her fear and worrys were powerful and soon nix felt adrenaline streaming though her and had to shake her head to focus, the girls energy was new to her though. She could reconise something of it though, but that wasn't a taste, it was the focus behind it, only one mutant felt like that to her and nix nodded. "we need to wait for someone to come and open the door, or you could try coming in through the dorm window but I don't think that's safe considering your condition ,and I want to help you so I'll not be leaving you alone ether" she said with another small smile ,"you really do look like you need a shoulder to lean on, literally" she said in a soft voice

It wasn't the knocking that woke him, nor hearing voices from outside. What got him awake in his room was the smell. It smelled like a mix of mud and blood, which never meant well where he was concerned. Many times had he smelled that scent and it lead him into danger and sometimes even the death of someone close to him.
His eyes shot open as soon as the scent reached his nose and got out of bed. Putting on some sweat pants, he headed out of the door and down the stairs, following the scent to the front door where it was strongest. As he got close, another smell was mixed, this one the most familiar. Immediately he opened the door and saw Nix standing next to a woman who looked like she escaped from hell. On a closer look, his eyes widened in shock.
"Ayden? Ayden where have you been? What happened to you?"
Not waiting for an answer, he reached out and picked Ayden up in his arms, looking to Nix and motioning her to come in as well. He didn't know why she was out of bed or even out of the school, but he'd get to that later. He moved to the frontroom where he set Ayden down in a comfortable armchair, then looked to Nix.
"Get me the first aid kit, a bucket of water and a rag. Now."

Nix walked in after Logan and kept her head low, she shouldn't have been out of her room this late and she knew it but he waved her inside all the same. He walked in to the front room of the school just of the foyer and then turned back to her ,"Get me the first aid kit, a bucket of water and a rag. Now." nix nodded and slid out of the main door of the room and walked down the corridor and then ducked into the school kitchen and rumaged through some of the draws until she found a first aid kit. She put it in the table and then took a bowl from the cupboard she'd been looked through and walked over to the tap and filled it with warm water.
She looked the bowl and then paused and then grabbed the bottom of her pyjama top and then flicked her fingers and her shadows cut through the material and then she dipped it just on to the edge of the bowl and then grabbed the first aid kit and bowl and jogged back towards the room where logan had gone. She slid back into the room and then paused and walked over to Logan and put the bowl down beside him and then stepped back and sat down on the carpet.

Ayden was about to answer this Nix girl. She seemed like a nice person. Ayden was sure she was, but at the same time, she really just wanted to speak to her grandfather. Covered in mud if she needed to. Under different circumstances she would have probably enjoyed speaking to the girl, but now simply wasn't one of those times.
Something itched at the back of her mind. Normallhy it wouldn't have bothered her. It would have been just an every day thing, but she was tired and really needed to talk to someone. What had she missed since she and David decided to run away together? The most childish, poorly thought out plan she had ever executed in her life. It could have gotten them both killed. Instead it got her lost in the middle of thick forests for longer than she'd probably like to admit.
She was finally about to say something to Nix when the door finally opened. Ayden lazily looked up and couldn't help the weak smile that brushed her lips when she saw the look on Logan's face.
"I can't look that bad."
But before she could protest she was up in his arms and being carted away. She had been hoping that she'd be taken to see her grandfather, but when Logan sat her down and ordered Nix to get a towel and a bucket, she suddenly seemed full of energy.
"No!" She exclaimed, "I need to talk to my grandfather! Cain kidnapped David and me and I managed to escape but David's still in there with some Devika girl and I've been in the middle of the forest trying to get here for only god knows how long and I'm not going to worry about a bloody calf, scraped knuckles, and a wall of mud. They're still in trouble, or dead! We have to do something. Me being dirty isn't the end of the world." She would have gotten up but she wasn't strong enough to manipulate Logan's mind and she knew he'd just sit her right back down again the second she got up.
She hated it. It made her feel weak.

"I suggest you sit still and allow Logan to take care of you."
He spoke from the doorway, having been woken up by the panicked thoughts of Ayden's mind and the slight worry of Nix's and Logan's. He rolled up to the couch while Logan sat there cleaning Ayden's wounds. When she mentioned things going on with Cain, and the fact that David and Devika were missing, a saddened look formed on his face.
"David and Devika aren't dead, Ayden. However, things are changing in this world and I'm afraid we are quickly losing control over it."
Logan looked at him witha worried look, knowing that Xavier never seemed to have lost hope of situations, however what was happening these days, he doesn't blame the man for feeling doubt. Xavier exchanged looks with Logan before focusing his attention on Ayden.
"Things are happening that you don't yet understand. Cain's "throne" as we've come to call it, has been taken by a future version of himself. The Nightmares, David, Devika, and many other mutants have been captured and changed by this new mutant."
He moved closer, taking her hand in hand in his and holding it, glad that she had survived, but knowing how torn she no doubt would be after hearing all of this.
"Ian is finding a cure for whatever has taken control of the mutants, but he will need help. He will be able to explain things more once you are well enough to ask him about it."

Nix sat quietly on the window ledge with her hands crossed over her chest and her head resting on her knees ,she knew it was a big thing that was happening and she knew tha her being a student meant she wasn't important enough to have any input here. She gave a small sigh and then turned her head and looked out the window to the schools ground and tilted her head to one side and then lifted her head and looked out. The moonlight was speading out over all the trees and bushes in the forest behind the school and the cut down hedges were turning sliver ,she liked the way the school looked during the darkness of the midnight hours.
She turned herself round and slid her legs out of the open window and sighed again ,the fact that the professer was here meant she would be in trouble and the fact she had found the girl wouldn't do her a lot of favours there. The wind blew gently over her sholders and brushed her hair back away from her face and she dropped her head. This was a time for the adults to talk, and for her to be quiet and to leave and not take part, she was just a student
