a few absentminded strums awkward strums echoed awkwardly throughout the space. "No that wasn't it" James mummered as he tightened the strings on his guitar.
It had been a long time since he had actually preformed in front of a crowd of people. His guitar was simply a relaxation tactic more then anything...but when the professors did their annual push to try and get some students to ( please) participate in the Summer Festival he reluctantly agreed. After all, high school kids would be too shy and nervous to do anything anyway...he mine as well provide them with some entertainment, so they didn't get guilted into having to provide some half-baked attempt themselves.
Speaking of half-baked, Luke had apparently took it upon himself to be the class clown this year, (not that he was all that surprised) and he took it upon himself to create a dunktank for the other kids to enjoy, or abuse, as they saw fit. Looking over at Luke, or the Lukes as the case may be, James watched with vacant interest as they attempted to work together in order to prepare everything for tonight. Sometimes they worked like a machine, other times, not so much.
Well, can't do that much if your not too handy to begin with I suppose James thought returning to his work. His guitar was tuned, and the amplifiers, for the most part, were hooked up. Of course there was bound to be last minute problems, jitters not being the least of them, but at least James had his trump card if he froze on stage, not to mention he didn't need stage lights, that was always a plus.

Little did everyone know, that Luke had secretly "Borrowed" some cheap advanced technology. For the dunk-tank the booth itself was already available, in the school's old supply room, but Luke had used advanced repulsion technology combined with a neodymium magnet for a reverse magnet effect, on the target keeping the target still. It causes anything hitting it to bounce back with twice the force. Up to half a ton of force. It is well hidden and is prototype technology. The technology is relatively simple actually I found it in the trash. I noticed it when "it fell into my chicken bucket" when I was throwing my chicken bucket into the garbage. What's a bonus the technology has a remote switch I can use for it.
This place will be full of mutants I might get ammonia by the end of this without this a some sort of help. Off for the weaker and smaller mutants, on for the higher ones with a little bit of mix up so no one get's suspicious. Luke used his copies as a team to set up the Dunk Tank, It was already half way finished. With the rig perfectly concealed.
He noticed his brother trying to set up his stuff. Hey I found this in the back of storage. He puts down another large speaker he and a copy brought... From storage wherever that is.

James watched as Luke and...Luke put the amp in the middle of the stage. He was never sure if he would get use to having multiples of his little brother around.
"Thanks" James responded in a attempt to sound cheery, but ultimately falling into a tone much more wistful. "Can you have some of your clones pick it up and hook it up over there?" He said partly as a question, with a hint of demand somewhere in it.
James and his brother had known one another for a long time. Literally since the day Luke was born. In that time they rarely spent any significant time apart, and as a result their relationship was solid and well defined. It was like that groove in the couch worn with time and formed in a way that it fit 'just right'. As a result James felt no need to hold up the typical social conventions around his brother, and he simply wore his emotions on his sleeve. He made little effort to pretend otherwise.
James strummed his guitar a few more times to make sure that it was in tune, and then he looked up at Luke.
"Hey do you still play the flute?"

James watched as Luke went off in a rush to go get a flute...he was always doing that...in a rush to get somewhere...the kid had a lot of energy...sometimes James wished he could just get him to slow down, if only for a second.
James stared blankly into space for a little while longer, just looking at the situation. He always got like this before he played....For people I mean. When he played by himself it was just to relax to put all of his feelings and emotions and frustrations into sound. Not to scream at the world, but instead, to soothe it. It was rather similar to some form of meditation then anything else.
Playing for people though...that was a different story. It meant that he had to give his energy and his creativity to the crowd. To bear himself against their judgement, it was no longer an introverted act of relaxation, instead it was a trial to test the steadfastness of his talent.
James stood up after a moment or to and grabbed a small case for one of the amps and set it down in front of the stage behind the microphone. It sat down on it adjusting the mic stand and tapping lightly on the mic to make sure it was on. Then he began to play song:

Rhyme looked out his window toward the crowd of people setting up. He wouldn’t be needed until the raw materials were there. He could create a whole stage out of nothing but it was more strain then he cared for and thankfully people respected that. They said they would get him all the steel, scaffolding, and wood needed. It wouldn’t be hard to fit them all together basically fusing them into one stage.
He watched as a mutant with super strength dropped the last box near a simple wooden stage. When he saw it dropped off he made his way down to the grounds. He had his iPod on but was projecting the music around him so anyone within a 20 yard radius heard it clearing while one step past it they heard nothing.
When he got down there he saw someone by the stage.
“Hey, nice to meet you, don’t think I have seen you around before though I just got back so that isn’t surprising.” He said to James.
As he spoke he held out his hand and a crowbar appeared. He walked over to the large crates and began to crack them open seeing a lot of pipes, some wood, some lights, some amps and one box had all cables in it.
“Now…how do I get this put together without half the town seeing. Where is Haru when you need him, could easily cast something up to make this hidden for a time.” He said mostly to himself.
There is one thing that Rhyme was known for and that was being spatterbrained. He was indeed still paying attention to James but it wasn’t exactly clear. His mutation made it so he had to train to split his attention so he was half decent at it though it did have some side effects.

James looked at the guy and smiled, fellow musicians always brought out a sense of trust and comradely in him. Being a musician was a lot of hard work and dedication, but it was also so rewarding. Granted James wasn't really a serious musician, he just dabbled in it here or there as a hobby, but nonetheless he understood all of the trials and tribulations of being a musician, and he was glad to have another one around.
Luke, though incredibly good at the flute, was naturally talented at it as a savant, and he put little to no effort into learning it at all. Another thing that always irritated James. On top of it Luke was not the kind of person who really got nervous or jittery when he was the center of attention, and that was something to admire, and be jealous, about. Nonetheless James enjoyed playing with his brother (when he could goad Luke into playing) it just wasn't the same as having another musician around.
James smiled brightly "Got a concert planned eh? so what do you play? I had the same idea myself." James asked keenly interested in what Rhyme could tell him. Then as if Ryhme's dilemma had finally reached his ears, he turned and bent the light around the stage in order to make the effective area invisible to the outside.
"We're invisible to the outside so go ahead and setup...my powers do come in handy occasionally."

Luke had just gotten back and played his flute to see if he could. Standing next to Rhyme and James. He found out he was no longer a flute savant... with his powers he was flute master. Luke was left in aw by his own playing Holy crap James did you hear that?!? Luke just took notice of the man who was right next to James. Oh hello I didn't see you there. My names Luke by the way. Luke had overheard what they said earlier apparently he was planning on putting a concert on as well. Luke was too distracted to comment on this.
Right now Luke was full of tremendous excitement about his flute playing abilities. Alright James if you need me I'll be setting up my booth while doing warm-ups. Luke said in slightly loud tone of voice, and just as Luke had said he had one mirror working on the Booth, and the rest were playing the flute, practicing, having copies stay in a loop for certain groups of notes and then stopping.
The dunk tank was being set up at an extremely slow pace, it was already half way set up but Luke's only copy working on it, was moving at a sluggish pace to compensate for his intense Flute practice going on by the booth.

Haru walked along the school grounds seeing how he could help around with anything, at the moment he was wearing or it looked like he was wearing a deep pink dress that feel to the floor there was a little ribbon around his neck and the bottom of the dress was ruffled his hair was so blond it almost looked Wight it was partway up but the part was down feel to his mid back any one that would of saw him might of felt that it was part of some show and may of felt bad cause the “costume” looked hot. Haru spotted a large area where it looked like they where going to be building something Haru moved around spoting the boy he meet a short wile ago some other man and then Rhyme. Haru slipped behind Rhyme and held him for a second “How it going bud you going to perform today”. Haru was a bit existed for this event this was the biggest thing he’d seen a happen sense he came hear or anytime that he was hear. Haru smiled at Luke seeing he was hear and that he was playing the flute or well there was more then one Luke now. “Nice to see you again…Luke was it right and you are” he smiled at James talking the way he normally did around people he didn’t know that well witch sounded like a girl most the time. “Me?” Rhyme said looking a bit confused. “A tiny bit of everything but nothing too well. Well…I guess if you count what I can do I can play everything but I don’t like counting it since I didn’t have to work at it like real musicians do.” He tensed when someone randomly hugged him from behind but when he smelled Haru he relaxed and leaned back into the embrace. As Haru began to slip away he turned and gave him a peck on the cheek. “Maybe, not sure yet, may just be working the lights and music.” He said to Haru’s question. Rhyme felt himself as more of a Thespian then a musician. His mutation was music based but he didn’t work hard and couldn’t really make anything himself he just used what others already made. He then pulled out his iPod and glared at it as it scrolled through the music so fast it was nearly impossible to read. He would mutter a ‘no’ or a ‘not that one’ occasionally as he tried to find the right song to put up the stage. When he found the right song he gestured for James and some other mutants to step back. The music shifted and he raised his hands dramatically. In his hand appeared a conductors baton cared of beautiful red oak. “Let get this party started.” (( Song Lyrics)) The song encompassed a lot of his feelings for this school. It was a place of acceptance where mutants who would otherwise be on the street could have their dreams come true. As the song played the items from the box rose and slowly began to attach themselves to each other. As the music picked up Rhyme began to move with it shaking his hips with the strong beat and the items moved faster coming together more easily. When it got right before the chorus on the word, disappear, he vanished from sight and appeared on the stage as the objects flew all around him as he continued to dance. Other mutants stopped and stared as the objects flew around. Rhyme always put on a good show when he did things like this. First the wood and steel made the backbone of the back part of the stage. Towers went up on each side and beams arched over the simple wooden stage. As they came together they fused becoming one solid piece. Next the lights and speakers floated out of the box and hooked themselves on the bars and around the outside edge of the stage. The lights flashed on and off with the music even though they weren’t plugged in yet. Once they hooked in the cables were the last to move and they hooked to each light and speaker and from the microphones to the speakers. All of those cables run out the back of the stage just as the song was finishing up. The light and sound boards weren’t in yet but they would be here soon. Once the song was finished Rhyme was breathing head and sweating like a pig. Anyone who thought his mutation was strenuous was wrong. It was mentally draining and the dancing though not needed was fun and made the effect better. When the song finally finished the mutants around him applauded and he took a bow and then sat on the wooden stage as he got his breath back.

Luke was engrossed in his Flute practice, completely excited about his new abilities. Looking up the most difficult to perform, song sheets on his phone and performing them.
Haru walked toward the stage saying it was nice to him again Luke waved back. Trying not to focus on her pretty dress, that part was easy though. Luke was too busy practicing to care. When she went up and hugged the man on stage. Luke looked over he was obviously the boyfriend she had referred too from before.
The Musician on stage with his brother suddenly motioned everyone to step back. This caught Luke's eye. He stopped playing to watch what would occur. The man suddenly started to play a song on his Ipod. It was an awesome sight for Luke to see. Man I would pay money just to see the stage get set up... Imagine the effects for his performance.
Luke ran up to him, leaving his copies behind, frozen still. The man was sweating. That was awesome Luke looked over at his brother. Luke looked up at James with widened, excited eyes. He could make crazy effects with, James effects there's no sound but with him on our side. Besides I heard him say he can play a little of everything, and three is better than two. Is he going to be playing with us? Luke looks back and forth between James, Haru, and Rhyme with big old puppy eyes.

Melody's eyes narrowed in concentration as she watched a tent basically set itself up, without anyone touching it or moving it. Anyone would probably guess that this girl's power was telekinesis...but they would be wrong.
Millions of strands of hair moved on their own, all connected to Melody's head of hair. But you had to look twice and squint just to see them. If you saw them at just the right angle, they glinted in the sunlight as they moved things around for Melody's booth for the Festival. Soon, the tent was set up and Melody hadn't moved an inch during this process.
She heard music playing in the background, putting a strange smile on her face. "At least they're not terrible..." Because of her family, Melody was made to attend famous concerts of the best musicians around the country. She had much exposure to fine arts and fine taste. Finer things. It was what Melody hated. It was why she left. But she goes back to setting up her booth, bringing in a chair and a large full-body mirror. She already had her apron and tools nearby, for coloring and shaping many different types of hair.
Melody was happy she was asked to be part of the fest, even if it was old man Xavier that asked. She met him only a couple times and her first impression of him was that he was too nosy for his own good. Melody didn't like that about him. But he provided a job for her that she was going to love.
Melody then noticed a group nearby that piqued her interest. They seemed to be different performing groups that knew each other. Leaving her hair to do the work, she sauntered over with a saucy grin and saucy attitude. "The Fest is going to be awesome with you guys playing. You guys Xavier boys?"

He looked at Melody first answering her. “Kinda, once was an Xavier boy, sort of free lance now but a strong alliance to the man.”
Rhyme’s relation with the school was complex since he still enjoyed the place and liked helping but he didn’t like being tied down for too long in any one place.
“Put the eyes away.” Rhyme said with a laugh. “Only three people can twist me with their puppy dog eyes and two of them haven’t seen me in 12 years. The other is my darling partner in the FABULOUS pink dress. I am not sure if I am going to have time to do anything and would it really be fair to the other acts? That is like that guy over there playing Hide and Go Seek.” He said gesturing at James since he didn’t know his name yet.
He wasn’t sure how the talent show was, if it was supposed to be mutant talent show or real talents. If it was supposed to be real talents he wouldn’t feel right doing something with his powers since it gave him a huge advantage over anything music related.
“Though…Haru, did you finish your new Fall line yet? I could try some of that out at the festival.”
Haru always came up with some of the best outfits. Even if Haru didn’t like male cloths himself he could still make up some great outfits for Rhyme.

Haru sat next to Rhyme after the stage was all made rubbing his back as if to say good job. He smiled at Luke he understood why Ryhme didn’t want to be in the show it wasn’t fair and Haru wasn’t going to push him into doing anything he didn’t feel was fair nor did he think it was far him self if people just did a tallet show showing off there powers it be boring.
When Molly asked if he was Xavier’s boy he shook his head “No, I really don’t like staying in one spot for to long but if Rhyme hear for much longer I’m going to start looking for some design jobs don’t know if I want to design for yet maybe I’ll do theater for a bit”
But when Rhyme said that only 3 people in the world could pull off the puppy eyed to Rhyme Haru smiled and gave some puppy eyes to Ryhme holding him a little “Its not like a try hun” he smiled you could tell he was teasing Haru giggled and gave him a peck on the check before sitting next to him and smiling .
When Rhyme asked if his Fall line was ready yet Haru jumped in excitement “Well physically not so much but I have all the line on paper and a few of the outfits made up mm I guess enough to do a small show” Haru loved making outfits most everything he versioned on him self was not something he saw in a store there was lots of impression form other things such as music, movies, shows, moments in life. And his fall line was turning out really well he just needed more fabric.
