Alexander D. James
we all started somewhere
Birth name: Alexander Dirk James
Alias: Mr. James to those who don't know him, Dirk to those somewhat close, and only his family has ever called him Alex. Otherwise he doesn't use, and hasn't really been given an Alias.
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Birthday: February, 20, 1984
only skin deep
Play by:Andy Whitfield
Appearance: Standing at an average height of about six feet, weighing somewhere between one-hundred and seventy-five and one hundred and ninety pounds, and with a certain rugged attraction to him. He has a fair amount of muscle tone, all of it from being forced to fight and survive, not a single ounce of it was earned in a gym. All in all, Dirk is generally average. Well, that is as far as his "average man" goes.
On the left side of his face, extending from the bottom of his jaw to the bottom of his left eye is a giant "M". The M is not a tattoo, but a brand that has been branded deep into Dirks skin. The top left point of the M barely touches the bottom of his eye, and the entire bottom left leg of the M goes across Dirks lips; burning a deep line in them that extends almost to his chin. It is a mark that makes Dirk instantly recognizable, and was intended for that very reason. Besides the brand on his face, Dirks body has various tattoos and scars all over it.
Extending from the bottom of his right ear, going down and curving around his throat until it goes straight down his body is a tattoo with two spikes. That is all that can be seen with his shirt on, without his shirt one would see that the ornate spiked design continues straight down his body, spreading out like wings on his chest and then continuing straight down past his pant line. On his left forearm and all the way up to his left shoulder, is an ornate mayan warrior "armband" design and "shoulder pad" design. On his right arm, on the bottom side of his forearm is a black spade, with a one-eyed skull in the center of it. Wrapped around the spade are the words "Înainte de a putea lupta împotriva demonilor trebuie sã ne învingã propriile noastre."
That's as far as his "human" features go. When Dirk uses his mutant abilities there are a vast number of changes. His skin turns more pale, but almost seems to become covered in shadows giving him an unearthly appearance. His eyes turn a solid shade of black, and even his brand and tattoos warp on his body. The brand sinks deeper into his skin and the points and legs of the M curve giving a wicked appearance. The tattoos twist and torque on his skin, and the one that goes from his ear to below his pants is no longer stright with his body but twists around it, branching off in different directions across his skin like a thorny vine. Needless to say, when Dirk uses his powers, everyone knows it.
on the inside that counts
Personality: To describe a man like Dirk James is difficult at best, impossible at the worst. Largely because to a point he is both predictable and incredibly unpredictable. One thing you can count on is that his family raised him to be somewhat of a proud person, not proud vain, but proud noble. While he doesn't call himself one, many people would refer to him as a gentleman. He speaks eloquently, properly, and politely as well as very intelligently. Along with being somewhat softspoken and with a demeanor that many describe as calm, it is easy to get along with him.
Dirk has been described as a witty person, he loves to use sarcasm and can sometimes have quite the sharp tongue with it. Irony and dry humor or two things he really enjoys, and many people often think he is always serious when in fact it is rare for him not to be cracking a snide joke about something.
While Dirk believes that many things can be settled diplomatically, he isn't blind to the fact that sometimes only force can make things happen and he has never hesitated to use force when necessary. Killing is not a problem for Dirk, he has had to do it since a young age and can do it very effeciently.
That is perhaps the most simple thing to describe about him. Dirk is insanely loyal to whatever cause he commits himself to and would fight to the death for it, whether it be for mutant rights or for his family (which he almost did die for, had fate not gotten in the way). This is where it starts to get a little easier to see how he can sometimes be very violent.
When it comes down to it, for many, it is hard to tell if Dirk is going to "kill you or kiss you" as they say. He is both kind and ruthless at the same time making it impossible to tell just what he has in mind to settle a problem but one thing can always be certain; he never does anything without a plan, without knowing what is going to happen from beginning to end.
Everything that makes your character who they are!

FOR MUTANTS, Leave blank if you are human.
Power(s):
Superhuman Reflexes: Dirk was blessed with the unnatural ability of reflexes that reach levels no human could ever hope to duplicate. What this means is that Dirks body naturally reacts, and he can force it to react, on superhuman levels. Many times this causes him to seem to move faster than a human, and while he pushes the boundries of speed sometimes, it should be noted that he DOES NOT possess any enhancements to his natural speed.
What this means with a reflex system that is this fast (which essentially means that his nervous system is more sensitive than any human as well) is that when Dirk uses his powers time seems to slow down quite a bit. However, unlike a person who posesses superhuman speed, he moves just as slowly as everyone else does in this "bullet time" as he calls it. However, as no one else sees time as slowed down it has its obvious advantages. While the power works somewhat different than "slowing down time" that is the best way that Dirk is able to explain it.
The key feature of this power is that Dirk has control of it. With a normal person, their reflexes are largely based off of muscle memory; meaning things that their body has gotten used to doing over time naturally. With Dirk this is also true, but due to his mutant powers, he actually has control over his reflexes. In a simple sense, Dirk can tell his body what to do and it will do it exactly how he sees it in his mind (if he sees a man running and pulls out his gun to shoot him in the head, his body will naturally adjust to shoot at the target perfectly without Dirk ever having to use the sights. His body adjusts perfectly every time to do exactly what he wants it to do as well as using muscle memory). Because of this, all Dirk has to do to learn something like a new fighting style, is to simply watch someone use it as he doesn't have to use muscle memory, only his own imagination of knowing what to do and making his body do it. While it is a very simple and somewhat mundane power, it can obviously be very dangerous in the right hands. As well, the power gives Dirk a whole new meaning of "controlling one's self".
Secondary Mutation: Mutants are very strong in Dirks family bloodline. Every single member of his family for hundreds of years back has been a mutant, with each generation more powerful than the last. On top of that, every single member of his family has always posessed the ability of superhuman reflexes (with the occasional person having another power along with the reflexes, or the very rare person having an entirely different power all together.) However, no where in the entire bloodline of his family has in person "changed" when they use their power, and the more and more Dirk uses his, the more and more he looks like a demonic person when he does use it. This has lead his family to believe that Dirk is the next step in his family's evolutionary line, meaning that they believed Dirk has a secondary mutation that is only just now beginning to show up. He has not discovered what it is yet though... yet.
Weakness(s):
Perhaps the most blaring weakness is the very power that Dirk has itself. Because of the unique nature of his mutant abilities, he is able to commit things to muscle memory faster than any human, however, most of the time he can only do what he "thinks". I.e. if he were to ever fight someone who was versed in multiple combat styles, and combat styles that Dirk had never seen before, he could be beaten. (That poses a risk itself though because if Dirk sees that style and isn't killed, he can learn it.) It also takes about five to six days of meditation to take something he has seen, and turn it into muscle memory so that his body will do it without him telling it to. Otherwise, he can be beaten, but one has to do it mentally not physically.
Another blaring weakness is that it is announced to the entire world whenever he is using his mutant abilities. As soon as he starts to use them "Demon Dirk" comes forth and everyone knows what he is doing. Lastly, Dirk has very human limits. While he can make his body react faster and do things that no human could ever possibly do, he can still get just as tired as a human, suffer just as much pain as a human, and die just as easily. While it is incredibly hard to actually hit Dirk, there is nothing special there to protect him if and when he does get hit.
Cause: There was no special cause of Dirks powers, however, one unique thing about his powers was that he didn't have to wait until puberty for them to manifest. Due to his family's rich mutant bloodline no doubt, his powers began to manifest when he was about four years old. Though they likely existed as soon as he was born. However, due to his unique history, he has not had much chance to refine their control, so while he is in total control of his powers; there is still MUCH he doesn't know about them and much he can learn.
Other skills: Perhaps Dirks most dangerous weapon is his mouth. When speaking one on one with someone it is obvious that he is a very learned individual, but beyond that nothing special. However, get him in front of a crowd, or a group of people, and he can speak like no other. He has a natural ability to inspire people. Ever since childhood people have always gravitated towards him, he is a natural born leader and because of this he is hated and loved by many. When you are outspoken and people follow you, it is easy to gain friends, and easier to gain enemies...

Allegiance: N/A (He is largely neutral. He fights for mutant rights, sometimes getting violent about it, but not quite to the extent of the Brotherhood, but he is not even close to the pacifist that the X-Men are.)
Anything else: Dirk is currently being held in federal prison pending a hearing in the United States. However, to simply say that would do no justice to the reason why Dirk is there in the first place. For a brief backstory it would be easiest to start in Mexico, about five or six years ago.
Dirks mother and father moved deep into the jungles of Mexico not long after Dirk was born, hoping to escape the impending troubles of the world that they knew were coming for mutants and with a mutant bloodline as strong as there's, ridicule and hate was inevitible. So, to avoid that and try to leave their old lives behind, they decided to drop off the edge of the map, almost literally, and raise their children in a small village deep in the South American jungles.
Though there were plenty of trials and adventures growing up, the only real changes started about five or six years ago when the Mexican government began to grow more and more biased and intolerent of mutants. As time passed it wasn't long until they began hunting the most dangerous of these mutants down for the "safety of everyone" as they said. Somehow, the James family managed to stay under the radar during these mutant prosecutions.
As time passed they began hunting less and less powerful mutants, and simply began hunting mutants; period. Dirk and his brother Daryn couldn't stand this and over time they began to put together a rag tag group of mutants to try and help the mutants being hunted. Soon they had mutant concentration camps set up far away from public eyes, and once the James family was found, they were one of the first to get to "try" these new facilities out. Every mutant that was put into the camp was branded with a large "M" somewhere on their body to make sure that if they escaped, they couldn't ever hide.
Dirk and his brother Daryn couldn't stand this, so Dirk began to organize the groups of mutants inside the camps, putting together parties to fight the government and the soldiers who were doing this. As the pressure against mutants in America began to grow, down South all hell had broken loose. Dirk and his band of mutants tried to non-violently rescue mutants, and try to educate humans on what mutants really were but it was all for not. They were having to fight to defend their lives more and more.
It all came to a head not long agao, Mexican Guerillas leading the Mexican army ambushed a mutant safe zone and in this raid killed Dirks entire family, his friends, and loved ones. For Dirk, it pushed him over the edge, he could no longer stand being peaceful; he saw red. Almost every soldier that participated in that raid died that very night. Dirk, or rather, "El Demonio" as he became called, slaughtered everything he could touch. American forces were called in to help with the problem and after many died in the attempt, Dirk was finally caught and hauled to Washington to be tried for his crimes. Unknown to him however, many in Washington already knew who Dirk was, he was becoming a thorn in the side of every politician who advocated the suppression of mutants as the stories of the "Mutant liberator" in Mexico began to spread. He was a threat to them, not only physically but politically. That is the simplest explination of why Dirk is now sitting in a 12x12 cell with no windows in Washington right now. If you want to hear more, you'll just have to ask him yourself.
