on the inside that counts
Personality: Henry McCoy did not start out as the confident man he is today. While struggling with the way people treated him as an adolescent, Henry strived for a cure. A cure to be normal and be able to look like everyone else. His attempt at a cure, created the blue Beast everyone is familiar with. This drove him into the deepest despair before he was able to pull himself up. It took time but he was able to realize that no matter who you were or what you looked like, you need to be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. Some people would judge you at face value and you would have to live with that. As long as you believed in yourself then you could do anything. This new outlook drove him forward in his need to help other mutants realize the same ideal as well as try and convince humanity of their error.
The serum he ended up taking, that created his more beastial mutation, had another side effect upon his personality. It created another 'beast' inside him. An animal that paces back and forth in the locked cage of Hank's mind. All of his knowledge cannot prepare him for the fury of that creature he holds at bay. If for whatever reason this beast is released, Henry would no longer be able to control himself from his more primal urges.
Henry is naturally a gentle soul. He would happily sit in his lab all day working on some new research or read a book. He also enjoys friendly educational debates from all subjects.
While he can be pushed to act in violence he tends to limit his strength as much as possible. Or even find some way to disarm or entrapt an enemy before full on attacking them. Though his primal side can conflict with this passive manner of attack depending on the circumstances.
With the medical experience under his belt he feels that it is contradictory to injure someone when he would feel the need to help them afterwards.
He desire to find a logical solution to all matters has brought Hank to dabble a little in politics as well. He usually is the first to volunteer if Xavier needs someone to represent or help represent the school.

Power(s): Originally, Hank McCoy has the basic features of a normal human with a general simian physiology. This means that he has elongated arms and more complex extremities. For instance, his feet have an aposeable thumb of sorts. This mutation gives him superhuman strength, speed, agility, flexibility, coordination, balance, and endurance. He is equally dexterous in all four limbs; able to perform tasks with his feet or hands with equal ease. Later, Hank mutated further to grow blue fur over his entire body. He gained claw-like nails and fang-like teeth, a minor healing factor and his overall appearance became more bestial. With this physique, Beast can use his claws to climb vertical surfaces as well as strong enough to withstand falls that would crush the bones of a normal human. His new transformation as Beast also enhanced the strength of his limbs to allow him to make astounding leaps and to run at great speeds for a short duration.
Weakness(s): Fatigue mainly and any injury. While Beast did gain a healing factor of sorts, it is no where near a high level of effectiveness. Which means that it would take Hank half the time to heal a wound a human would recieve, if that wound isn't fatal.
Cause: Henry an normal scientist with a not so normal gift. He was born with a mutation of heightened agility but it only truly appeared during adolescence. He gained a lot of animosity for excelling at sports at school which brought him to Xavier's Institute. One day due to unforeseen circumstances Henry drank a vial of an experiment he was working on. A concoction that made him into the blue furred creature he is today.
Other skills: Hank possesses a brilliant intellect. He is a world-renowned biochemist, having earned a Ph.D. in biophysics and genetics. McCoy is well-versed in many fields including languages (fluent in English, German, French, Latin, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, and Russian), literature, philosophy, psychology, and sociology, history, art and art history, anthropology, linguistics, and music, as well as political science and economics. He has a special affinity for science and technology and a penchant for quoting literary classics.
His vast scientific knowledge ranges from theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, differential equations, nanotechnology, anatomy, biomedicine, analytical chemistry, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering to the construction of a hyper-magnetic device. An electronics expert, he often repairs Cerebro and makes upgrades to the Danger Room settings.
