It was just past eight in the morning when Impulse stepped out of the front doors of the Millennium Hilton, a more pricy hotel located on Wall Street in New York City. Since it was only a little past eight the sun was just coming up, casting a weird glow over the city with the tall buildings surrounding the street casting long shadows, bathing the street darker then it naturally was.
Although it was still early in the morning the city was alive with the sounds of heavy traffic and people walking. Shops and vendors were just opening their doors, filling the air with the scents of different types of food and smoke.
Impulse didn’t mind this though; he had been living in places like this for the past three years, ever since he had run away a couple months after the accident, and now he felt like he belonged to the mainstream, fast paced world of the major cities.
Impulse was just about to turn the street corner when the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls drifted past him from a nearby bakery. Although Impulse had already eaten at the hotel before he left he couldn’t stop his stomach from growling. Since his power burned a lot of calories so he tended to eat, a lot.
Impulse swung the backpack he always wore off his shoulder, pulling out a wallet that contained few hundred dollar bills, though he would count it later. Impulse had learned a few years ago that people on the street would jack up the price when they saw the kind of money you had on hand. He had just acquired them yesterday and he knew that could afford it. Besides even if he couldn’t he could always be in and out before anyone ever noticed. He quickly placed the wallet in his pocket and headed to where the smells were coming from.

Nick had been walking around almost all morning around New York. He’d been up for a few hours shopping mostly getting supplies for him self he had looked at a few street venders stuff most of it was the same old stuff but he liked sometimes finding something that he had not seen before, He had found a few things he knew members of his family would love mostly Chris he was happy that he had be able to reconnect with her over all this time, but he knew very well that if they walked down some of the more popular parts of New York together she would suck his wallet dry.
He had left his dog home because of all the shopping he was doing that day and running around she was a good dog and would take care of her self for a few hours why he was out. It was about 8 when he realized that he had forgotten to eat this morning in the rush of things. He curst to him self why didn’t he think about food when he was still at the school where it was free now he’d have to pay for something. And he still had hours until he was going to go back home.
He looked around at all the shops near him looking for something to buy and started to walk towards one that was selling baked goods. He stepped threw the doors and looked at the menu looking at what he wanted, on orange roll, donut, blueberry muffin, cinnamon buns or rolls. But was he in the mood for it all looked so good at the moment.

Impulse stepped through the doors of the bakery in which the smells were coming from. It wasn’t a large bakery, but it was fairly packed, it was one of the disadvantages of living in a major city rather then the small town he had grown up in. Even this early most of shops were packed with more people then seemed possible, especially for this hour.
After actually stepping through the doors of the bakery, it was like his senses went into overdrive. There were so many smells, all of them good, making it almost impossible to concentrate on what the original item had been, cinnamon rolls. After about five minutes of trying to decide on one item of food he decided to screw it and just to get it all, he had the money after all. Besides he was sure that no one would mind if he decided to help himself to a free meal, no one would notice after all.
Having decided what he was going to do Impulse made his way up to the cashier, taking out the wallet containing the money out as he walked. As he was pulling out a couple of the bills he accidentally bumped into another customer.
“Sorry man.” Impulse apologized to the guy; a slight accident was still present when he spoke. After apologizing to the person he had run into Impulse continued his way to the counter, and once there he began to order. “Yes I’ll have two orange rolls, three doughnuts; two jelly filled and one chocolate bar, three muffins; two chocolate and one blueberry, three cinnamon buns, and three cinnamon rolls.”
After placing his order Impulse walked over to the pick up counter to wait for his order. An order that had come to total over forty dollars which included tax.

Nick wasn’t really paying attention when someone ran into him he smiled down at the kid he looked kind of a punkish kid who hadn’t been up for to long today he wondered why he was wherein a backpack maybe he was going to school or something but didn’t school start around 7 it was 8 “Na it’s ok”
He then went back and started to disided letting the kid go ahead of him still not thinking he figured he’d just get what ever he got. Nick stood behind him and weighted for the kid to order but as he ordered nicks eyes widen as the kid ordered ½ the menu.
Yes the kid was a growing teen boy but there was no way that the kid could eat that much food all in one sitting Nick walked up to the cashreitur still looking up at the menu.
“Um so what do you have left” he joked. She stated what they had left he smiled and finally decided on a blueberry muffin and a thing of orange juice. They told him that it take a minute so he walked over and stood weighting for his food next to Impulse.
Nick stood there there for a minute until he finally spoke to the kid who had ordered so much food. “So are you feeding an army with all that food or just your self”

As time ticked by Impulse started to tap his right foot impatiently. True it had only been a couple of minutes but it might as well have been a life time for Impulse. He was so used to living life in the fast lane, and if he really wanted to he could have already had his food and been on his way, but now he had to wait for the servers to collect his food and hand it to him.
Impulse was very tempted to just flash into the kitchen and snatch his order when a voice next to him snapped him out of his musings. It was a surprise, usually when he came to places like this people ignored him. So caught up in their own lives people hardly ever paid any attention to the small, blonde kid with the enormous appetite, and even if they did have the time to actually notice him rarely did they ever speak to him.
Impulse quickly glanced up at the person who had spoken to him. He was at least twice his size, even though Impulse hated to admit it he was small, his power made it so no matter how much he ate he wouldn’t gain a pound and he was short barely over five foot five. Impulse turned to face forward again and shrugged. “Myself. I’m just hungry.”

“Really?” Nick looked at the kid he was tinny how could he eat all that food by him self he knew teenage boys at a lot but still that was a lot of food he was hungry wow he must have been staving “you do realize that was over 30 dollars in baked goods kid, I don’t know about you but if im going to spend that much on food it will be a nice sit down restaurant”
His food came and Nick smiled picked it up gave put a tip in the tip jar and gave a smile to the lady behind the counter then turned smiled back at the kid and looked for a spot to sit and enjoy his food with the rest of his bags that he had been carrying all day to store to store.
Nick picked up a newpaper that was laying on one of the tables to read as he ate it whouldn’t kill anyone if he took a break for a little bit. Nick found a good spot next to a window and gave a sip of his Orange juice, a small smile on his face he loved Orange juice it reminded him of California the smell of the orange trees when you drove down the country roads.
Nick opened up the paper and started to read what was on in the world there was a few ani-mutant articles that Nick of coursed did not like and pulled a small face of discuses at them but that was it, he was use to people slandering mutants for being what they where he didn’t act out violently like he use to but it did still bug him people just couldn’t see that they where human to. Nick started to read a different article one that was just some stupid story about a lady who had over 1000 dolls in her house it wasn’t news but it was better then the ani-mutant crap

Impulse continued to face forward as he proceeded to answer Nick’s new question. “Yeah, I like to eat.” It was more like he had to eat; burning calories as fast as he did meant that he had to consume a large amount of them every day, a whole lot more then the average person. When he was a normal human he ate a lot of food, but now it was like he had become a bottomless pit, eating at least 10.000 calories daily. “I have enough. I don’t like sit down restaurants.” Both of these statements were also true, Parker had about a thousand dollars in stolen credit cards and cash. Impulse also didn’t like eating at sit down restaurants; they drew to much attention to him; a sixteen, year old boy at a fancy restaurant tended to draw unwanted attention from concerned parents he didn’t even know.
After he answered Impulse just watched as Nick went through the ordinary routine of purchasing his food, when he noticed Nick make a big mistake. As Nick went to put his wallet back into his pocket he didn’t quite succeed, causing the wallet to fall onto the floor between them, and Impulse could tell that he hadn’t even noticed. So Impulse bent and picked it up. Now any normal person would have handed the wallet back to him, Impulse was not a normal person.
Placing the wallet into his pocket Impulse continued to wait for his food, acting as if nothing had happened. Impulse had learned from a long time ago that to get away with stealing something you had to act as if nothing had happened. Acting all paranoid would only get you caught; you might as well have a giant neon sign pointing to you saying “crime in progress.”
It didn’t take long after that for Impulses order to arrive, and after it did Impulse pulled out Nick’s wallet and proceeded to take out one of Nicks one hundred dollar bills to pay the balance. Since Nick was still in the room he wanted to get as much use out it as he could, just in case Nick actually caught him. After purchasing his food Impulse made his way to the door, carrying the bags on his arms. He wanted to get away from Nick before he noticed that his wallet was missing.

Nick folded the paper up finishing up with what he was reading, he still had a lot to do today and couldn’t just spend hours doing nothing like he wanted. Nick stood up and stretched patting his pocket to make sure he had his keys and wallet just out of habit. When his eyes widen he felt the keys in his front pocket and his phone in one of his back pockets but his wallet it was gone it was missing. Nick quickly patted himself down again scanning the floor for it.
“Dam it” he whispered to him self
New York was full of pickpockets but Nick hadn’t bumped into anyone and he just pulled it out not more then 10 minutes ago Nick wanted to hit him self in the head for being an idiot how did he lose his wallet, she scanned the store to see if anyone was acting a little odd making eye contact with a few. Then he started thinking who had left the only person that had left was the kid who ordered all the crap. They where standing next to each other so he could of picked his pocket but he would have had to do that why he was moving because Nick had turned and put the wallet in his pocket.
The kid had just left so he couldn’t of gotten far and Nick saw what way he was going Nick stormed out off bakery his fist in tight balls, that kid was toast and Nick didn’t have time to disapline punk kids he had to deal with that to much at the school.
Once Nick saw the kid again “Hey kid I have a question for you?” there was still that chance that this kid didn’t still it and Nick was willing to talk to him to see if he saw anyone and not judge the kid but he was the only one he could think of at the moment

Impulse had that he had made clean get away, that was until Nick had come after him. After a quick debate over if he should or should not use his power, he decided not to since if he did this person would know that not only did he steal his wallet but that he was also a mutant and he didn’t feel like leaving New York this soon. So after Nick called to him he turned to face the older boy, a blank or bored expression on his face, like he could care less about the situation. In truth his mind was racing, trying to come up with a paln to get out of here without using his power, yet, but it was still an option.
“Can I help you?” The tone of his voice matched his expression perfectly, bored and indifferent. Impulse was trying to talk his way out of this situation; Nick hadn’t seen him actually take his wallet, so he had no proof that Impulse actually took the wallet giving Impulse no reason to try and use his power. Impulse just stared at Nick waiting for an answer, hoping to get this over with quickly.

The kid didn’t run he just turned and asked If he could help you Nick still wasn’t to sure if this was a pick pocket who did this a lot then he’d know how to play it cool and not over reacted. “Yea I was wondering if you had any extra cash on hand I will pay you back but it seems my wallet just disappeared I need to by some stuff also do you have a cell I need to cancel my card right now” Nick had a phone but he wanted to see the kids reaction to him canceling his card right now. Before he had used it if this kid had token his wallet.
Being that not to long ago Nick go in tubule with the law all the time for this sort of stuff Nick knew better then to just ask ‘hey did you take my wallet’ no one whould admit to that unless they where an idiot. Nick figured that this kid was not an idiot all ready by the way he acted by being board this was a common trick that people used to throw off people good think Nick didn’t trust to many people or he’d fall for this.
