Ah, the weekend. The most anticipated part of the week. Everyone's favorite few days. You didn't have to worry about classes, uniforms, homework. The only thing on anyone's mind come the weekend was to pack as much fun as physically possible into the days.
Josephina happened to be one of them. And her definition of 'fun' was very different from most peoples...
She stood by herself in one of the many hallways, leaning up against the wall with her arms folded lightly across her chest, waiting for something worthwhile to happen. Classes had ended only an hour before, and most the other students seemed to be in the transition stage still, not nearly as many as she thought there would be wandering the halls just yet.
Sighing, she unfolded her arms to run her fingers through her golden locks. Finally, she shrugged away from the wall, heading towards the grand staircase that led up to the dormitories. There, she just leaned against the sturdy wooden railing, looking the part of just your ordinary girl, waiting for her friends. It was quite the opposite though. She wanted to practice refining her power even more. Most the time when she used her power on someone they knew something was going on. Recently she'd decided to start working on making it look more.... accidental.
Someone, a freshman boy, was heading down the stairs. Watching him out of the corner of her eyes, she waited a few moments, when he was closer to the bottom, before... The ring finger on her left hand twitched slightly. With that small twitch came a reaction from the other student, who tripped up on the stairs and plummeted the last few steps. She'd waited for one reason, so he would only skin a knee, and not break a bone. This was just practice after all...
Phina smirked a little, pleased with her small accomplishment, completely unaware of another student approaching...

“Great use of power there.”
The weekend had just started over a little more then an hour ago for most of the student body, although for the unluckily few that happened to be in John’s class the weekend had just began since there class had gotten out late and had only let out a couple of minuets ago.
The first thing John was going to do with this new found freedom was to change out of his school uniform. As much as he “loved” this change to the school rules he didn’t want to go around the whole weekend wearing it.
Since most of the classes had let out an hour ago most of the students had already changed out of their uniforms, so John wasn’t surprised to find that the way to the dormitories were clear for the most part, maybe a few people here there but for the most part he was the only one. Most of the students had already changed and had no other reason to return to the dormitories until later.
John rounded one of the corners that led to the grand staircase that led up to the dormitories John spotted two other students, one of them tripping causing him to fall down the stairs. One of them, the student that tripped, appeared to be a freshmen boy, the other, on the other hand, a teenage girl around his age.
John was more observant then most people and often noticed small details most people missed. He noticed how the girls twitched one of her fingers and then a second later the boy feel. He also noticed the smirk she wore when she noticed this. He was able to put two and two together to realize this was her power.

Being spoken to… Hadn’t been part of Phina’s plans for the day. Being noticed at all hadn’t been planned. To be honest, she was actually surprised he’d noticed her! Josephina was good at being invisible, seen but not really noticed. The fact that someone had seen her target practice… Well she wasn’t happy. She was ticked.
Amazingly though, her pissed off mood didn’t show on her face or body language. She just looked towards her rude invader with a smile. “Are you spying on me?” Her eyebrows were raised, her hands moving to rest on her hips as she waited for an answer. “That isn’t very gentleman like. Shouldn’t you at least ask a girl for her name, or at least give your own, before stalking?” All the while she continued to smile. It almost sounded like she was joking, her tone friendly, but somehow she seemed completely serious, as if wanting a serious answer from this intruder before continuing anywhere.
She didn’t recognize him, but that wasn’t too much of a surprise, there were a lot of students at the school, it was impossible to know them all after all. And just like she didn’t recognize him, it would probably be impossible for him to recognize this girl.

John shifted his body so he was now leaning against the wall and then proceeded to fold his arms loosely across his chest giving him on overall nonchalant appearance, though one of his eyebrows did raised when the girl accused him of spying. “Spying? I was just on my way to my dorm room when I saw you. I hardly call that spying. You are the only other person here after all.”
John’s eyebrow stayed raised when she turned towards him and placed her hands on her hips. When she accused him of stalking her John’s voice took on a slightly joking tone. “Wow, you like accusing people of things before you know them, don’t you? First I’m spying on you and now I’m stalking you?” John paused for a second, “Although I think stalking would have to involve me know who you are to apply, don’t you think?”
John continued. “As for who I am my name is John. I was a part of the paragon program before it was discarded so it’s not surprising we don’t know each other. The paragon students were often separated from the other students because our group was designed to be so far ahead of the other students.” John then looked directly at Josephina. “Now, to throw your words back at you; isn’t it unladylike to accuse someone you don’t know of stalking and spying on you?”

Josephina’s eyes rolled, wide enough that anyone could see it. “I can't say you are spying on me when you are instantly accusing me of doing who knows what? When I hadn't even moved all that much before you spoke? What, pray tell, am I being accused of doing anyway?” No matter how sarcastic she sounded, that sweet smile stayed on her lips, her looks that of pure innocence.
Her eyebrows were raised now, her smile replaced with a frown. “Oh, I’m sorry. You must not know what joking is. Would you like me to give you a definition?” Phina knew how to bait people, unnaturally well. She always had a joking tone, but you just knew she was insulting you. On lookers though wouldn’t recognize it for that. They’d just think you were jumping to conclusions. “Not to mention spying and stalking can be the exact same thing, if you didn’t know.” That smile was back. Oh yes, she was baiting him, but no one watching would agree. Thankfully no one was watching.
“…….” The way he spoke almost made him sound like he was flaunting himself, saying ‘Look how cool I am!’. It irritated her. “I don’t see why I should care, or even want, to know about all your fabulous life achievements. Perhaps you could just make me a list and I’ll look at it when I feel like killing some of my brain cells?”
Josephina’s eyes narrowed a touch. Suddenly she felt absolutely no desire introducing herself to a guy who had to flaunt his superiority. “I don’t know. I don’t really see what good could come from introducing myself. Someone like you probably wouldn’t even remember my name for ten minutes. It’s just a waste of time and breath.”

John wasn’t at all fooled by that smile on her face, she wasn’t as innocent as she seemed. She was baiting him and she knew it, she wanted him to make the first move so she could say that whatever happened he had started it, well he wasn’t going to fall for it. So with a playful smirk John continued to face Phina, then when he spoke his voice took on a playful tone to match, “I don’t know can you?” After this was said, though his voice took on a more airy tone, like he didn’t really care about what they were talking about. “I also didn’t accuse you of anything. All I said was that it was a great use of power. I also stand by that both of those require the stalker to know the person, and I still have no idea what your name is.”
John’s playful mode returned however when she started talking about how she was joking. “Oh there’s no need for that. I am very aware of what joking is, though now I’m not sure you are aware of what it is because I was, in fact, joking with you. Although you probably wouldn’t recognize that.” She wanted to bait him, well he was just going to bait her back. When she started talking about spying again John just shrugged. “Well I guess technically they are the same thing, though stalking is a more extreme form.”
When she started to mention his “life achievements” John just gave her a weird look which then on a more thoughtful one. He hadn‘t been bragging, though now that he thought about it, it could have come across as bragging which is what he hasn’t meant to do at all. “I wasn’t bragging I was just stating a fact.”

Both of Josephina's eyebrows raised. After a few moments though, she chuckled. "And yet you won't tell me what this 'great use of power' was? You don't even know what I do." She knew, there was absolutely no way he would know her power over the twitch of her fingers. It was impossible. So, for now, she was safe. He wouldn't know what exactly she'd done, just that she had some connection to it... "Not all stalkers know the name of their victim."
Her smile vanished as he basically insulted her, her expression suddenly hard. Another few moments of silence followed, finally though, the eerie silence "Are you sure you want to play this game...?" Her voice was dangerously quiet, almost threatening. "I'd hate to scar that pretty face of yours, after all." Phina was pissed, the way she spoke backing up her half threat. Of course she wouldn't hesitate to lash out if he pushed her any more.
"Stating a fact..." She suddenly scoffed. " And the whole part about being ahead of other students? Sounds to me like bragging." The way he put it really was offensive to other students, because it made everyone think that he thought he was better then them.

John just looked her in the eyes, blue locking with blue, while he asked, “So you didn’t use your power to make the kid trip? And if I were to ask you what your power was right now it wouldn’t be able to cause someone to trip and fall down the stairs?” John might not know exactly what her power involved, but he had a pretty good idea of what it could do, and John’s guesses were usually accurate. “This place is full of students and teachers with powers. You can’t do something in this building without suspecting it has something to do with someone else’s power. At least that’s they way I think about it. There might be rules to stop that kind of thing from happening, but how many people actually follow those kinds of rules?”
John didn’t seem at all phased when Phina’s expression hardened, it took a lot for John to become effected by expressions of other people so he just continued to meet Phina’s gaze head on, his on features not at all effected by her hard expression. “You are the one who started this game. You shouldn’t start things you don’t intend to finish, or are you just to used to people not playing your little game that you can’t handle it when someone actually challenges you?” His voice hadn’t taken on a quiet tone like Phina’s but his tone was serious, more serious then probably anyone had ever heard coming from John.
