*Shakaku was shocked. She didn't think he cared. She's the first girl to come along and change his life forever. Why wouldn't he care? He was glad she was back but didn't feel like he could be himself anymore. What had happened to them? How did they let each other fall further from their relationship?*
Of course I care. I'm really glad your back.
*He wished he could say more, but his tong wouldn't work for one reason or another. And he didn't know what else to say. I've been lonely with you gone No that was stupid. Not to mention cheesy. Maybe it would be better to just leave her to her unpacking. But he didn't want to leave. She seemed like the only girl he was going to get along with. Nezumi hated him. And that other girl was just a fight waiting to happen. No matter what he did they always ended up fighting. He hoped that wouldn't happen with Gisli. He seemed to be harshest to girls, it started he thought when she left. Maybe it was a way of punishing himself for being so stupid.*

His words were comforting. Really comforting. So much that she smiled a little, her eyes lifting once more to look at him. It wasn’t that she’d doubted it…. But hearing it was a lot better than just guessing. “You should have told me to stay.” Should he tell him what happened? Would it make him feel bad about telling her to go in the first place?
Gisli sighed, sitting on the floor, her back against the drawers below her bed. She smiled a little as she kept her attention fixed on Shakaku again. “I missed you, you know…” Wait a second, should she have just said that? Great, why hadn’t she thought about that before saying it? No taking it back now…
She lightly wrapped her arms around her knees, her smile vanishing. She really wanted to tell him what had happened, to at least be able to talk to someone about it, but at the same time, it really made her angry. And when she got angry… She tended to curse the first person she came across without meaning to. If that happened and Shakaku was the only one with her…. She didn’t want to curse him by accident. Especially considering he’d never really dealt with her power first hand…

I know.
*He knew that he should have. He wished that he could. Looking back he wished that he had done everything to make her stay. Why couldn't he have said those few words? Stay. Shakaku was glad she was back and glad she missed him. He had thought about her lots. He could tell that something was wrong. She seemed like she was fighting with herself about something. He walked closer to her and sat across from her. Looking her in the eyes.*
If you want to talk I'll listen. But it's your decision.
*He wasn't going to fores her, there were things he didn't like to talk about. But he rarely talked about himself so openly. Furai noticed that she couldn't see her master or Gisli anymore so she scurried to the edge of the bed. Noticing that they were on the floor, and not paying attention to her, she jumped. Gliding down she landed on Shakaku's head. He was not surprised in the least bit when the flying squirrel jumped from his head to his shoulder. Then scurried down to his lap where she found his heads. She curled up on one of his hands, being quite contempt.*

Gisli didn’t really know what to say or do. Somehow Shakaku had realized she was upset over something. But really, what was she supposed to do? Tell him, and make all the emotions come back, or keep it a secret and worry him? Would it worry him though? Their friendship was pretty rocky at the moment…
He was sitting across from her now, as if waiting to see if she would speak or not. Really, how was she supposed to tell him? It just might make him angry, and regret not making her stay in the first place! Maybe he’d blame himself for what happened, because he hadn’t told her to stay…
She sighed, looking down at her hands for a moment, half ignoring Furai as she jumped down to keep an eye on the humans.
“I dunno… It’s sort of…” She paused, not sure what words to use. It wasn’t long, it was actually pretty short. But… “It just makes me angry… If it comes up.” Another pause. “And if I get angry… I might accidently curse you.” She’d only vaguely explained her power to him in the past, but he’d never been cursed before… It’d probably be a shock for him if it did ever happen.

*Shakaku was fine with her not wanting to talk about it. He looked down and scratched Furai for a moment. He wanted to help but didn't want her to get angry.*
I understand. You don't have to tell me. I don't need to know.
*He didn't want Gisli to be like this but that was all he could do. Was to be there when she needed him to be. He wasn't sure if he should leave or stay. It wasn't clear that she for sure woulnd't tell him about it. But by the way she was acting, she wasn't planning to tell him. At least not now. He had heard about her power and had never forgotten the trust she had in him back then. He was afraid that those days were gone, never to return. But that wasn't for sure yet, so he would just keep trying.*
I should probably get Furai to bed before she decides to Hybernate right here in my hands.
*He was looking down at her now. Her breathing had become softer. Like she was sleeping. But he wasn't sure if it was for the winter.*

Gisli was having the hardest time trying to decide to tell him or not. Tell him and get it off her chest, but possibly cursing him? Or not tell him and constantly be thinking about telling him? Well this was no help at all! Perhaps she should put it off for a little while, let their friendship stabilize a little, before telling him. That’d probably be the best idea.
“Soon. Not now though…” She had to make sure she wouldn’t curse him by accident. Maybe she’d just write it out, avoid the risk of accidently cursing him. That might actually work!
Furai really did look asleep, or near asleep. And seeing as it was near winter, Shakaku was worried she might just be going into hibernation right here and now. “You’d know best.” She didn’t mean it to sound rude, after all Furai was his pet. He was the most likely to know when she would go into hibernation. “I mean…. Ugh. I didn’t mean for that to sound like that…” She groaned, shaking her head. “I just mean, You’ve had her a while, so you can probably tell when it’s almost time and all…” This had been a horrible reunion for the two!

*Shakaku smiled at Gisli. He had the same problem. Most the things out of his mouth sounded either sarcastic or rude. So people thought he was always picking on them, weather he was meaning to or not. He didn't want to leave but it seemed like the best thing to do. He stood up and looked down at Gisli.*
I really am glad your back.
*If she was standing he would probably impulsively hug her, but she wasn't so he didn't have to worry about doing anything surprising. Shakaku turned and started to head out the door.*
I'll see your around Gisli.
*He avoided to look back, he wasn't sure what she would see if he did. He made his way out of the girls dormitory and to the Boys dorms. He made it to his room with out incident, hiding Furai in his pocket. She was still curled up in his hand but was in his pocket now. He was doing his best not to let any other student see her. He made it to his room and placed her in the nice spot that she had been preparing for about a month. It had plenty of stashed food and lots of small warm fuzzy things that she found around, or even that Shakaku had found around the school.*

Gisli just nodded. She didn’t need to say anything in response to his first comment. A soft smile touched her lips as she slowly rolled back to her feet. “Yeah. See you around.” She was sure she’d be seeing him pretty soon. The school wasn’t that big! Not to mention the moment she heard a student’s scream, she’d be sure to find Shakaku, causing the whole mess. Hopefully though he wouldn’t be tormenting to many students with Gisli back, seeing as she usually had to come to their rescue before.
She waved, even though he didn’t look back as he left. It wasn’t exactly… Unusual behavior for him. Only when he left did her smile vanish. She hadn’t expecting things to have been that bad… Sure, things wouldn’t have been exactly the same right off the bat, but…. It’d been a little awkward, probably just from the time that had passed and the fact that they’d had a pretty bad farewell….
He was gone now, the door closing behind him. She stifled a yawn, turning her attention to the half empty box. She quickly unpacked the last of the books, and flattened the box, tossing it into the corner nearest the door. It didn’t take any effort at all to get all the books onto the shelves, before she climbed up onto the bed, sighing as she stared up at the ceiling. Things were really going to be interesting….
