If you were to walk into this room, it would be the basic type of room someone would have, minus a few differences. Against the wall, with the foot facing the center, would be a single sized bed fit for comfort, next to it a table with two framed pictures, one of him and Ayden and the other of him, his parents and his sister.
Across the room was a dresser with his usual clothes, next to it attached to the ceiling was a small punching bag, and on the other side was a scratching post built on a compartment where his cat Snowball usually hid when company was present. Otherwise she laid curled up on his bed whether or not he was sleeping in it.

The door shot open as David stormed into the room, slamming it behind him. He couldn't believe Ian, of all people, talking about Cain like he was just some random mutant. He stormed over to the window, staring out over the grounds. His breathing grew more and more heavy as he thought about his parents, letting out a growl and slamming his fist into the window.
"Dam!"
He drew his hand back and rubbed it, the pain only amplifying the anger he felt. He walked over and sat down on the bed, taking a picture off the dresser. It held the only photo he had of his parents, slightly wrinkled and torn in certain places, but still able to make out who they were. He was going to get Cain for taking them away from him.

While David was busy cursing, she entered the room, seeming to go unnoticed. She crossed her arms and leaned against the door, examining his actions, waiting to announce her presence until he had settled down. She still wasn’t very happy with him, and she wasn’t going to hide it.
“I can’t take you seriously when you curse.”
She shut the door behind her and sat down next to him, her attention on him, not the picture.
“Tell me why you’re freaking out.” she stated not really an order, but more of a suggestion.

"sorry."
He mumbled as he sat on the bed, setting the picture back on the table. He rubbed his hand, still aggravated at everything that had happened. Mostly at himself because he hit a wall and blew up in front of Ayden like that. He wanted to get back at Cain for all he did, and it irritated him beyond belief that Ian would stand there and say that it wasn't important.
"I can't believe he would say that. Cain killed my parents, killed faith, hurt everyone I know and...and he's saying it's not important."
He looked to Ayden, taking her hand in his and holding it in both. He looked her in the eyes before leaning in and kissing her gently. He let the kiss before slowly breaking, reaching up with a free hand and touching the side of her face. More then likely she wanted to know why he was so distant with her during all of this, so he decided to tell her and let her decide.
"I love you Ayden, and...and I'm sorry." he took a deep breath, then continued, "I kept you out of everything, and I know I shouldn't, but I'm afraid. I don't want to lose you again, and I keep thinking one day you'll walk out and you'll be gone forever."

Ayden couldn’t help but laugh lightly.
“For what? There’s some things I can think of, but maybe there’s something else on your mind.”
When he began fuming about what Ian and said again, she exhaled an annoyed sigh.
“David, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I’m sure he just meant that he thought that right now the thing that was important is keeping the students safe. I can actually understand what he’s saying.”
When he kissed her, she was reluctant to kiss him back. This was the first time they had been alone in ages. She still loved him, but she was beginning to doubt that the feeling was mutual. She slammed her forehead against his shoulder in an annoyed fashion.
“If you’re afraid of losing me then don’t be such a douche bag.”

"didn't mean to blow up like that."
He sat there listening to her as she talked of how she saw Ian's point of view. He did to, but wouldn't openly admit it, but it didn't hide how much he wanted to get back at Cain. He noticed she didn't kiss him back as much as he hoped, but when her head hit his shoulder, he put an arm around her and held her close to him.
"It's not like I'm trying to be."

“If that’s all you’re sorry for then I’m not the only one you should be apologizing to. Try everyone else in the room.”
She was still annoyed with him. As much as she wished she could erase all her irritation, she knew that wouldn’t happen. She could only erase the memories of others, not herself.
“Even if you’re not trying to be, you’re not trying not to be.”

"I'll apologize later."
He looked to her when she said he was not trying not to be. That confused him more then anything and it showed in the look he was giving her. Was she telling him that no matter what he did or didn't do he was acting that way? How was he to change if it seemed like that was all he was doing?

“I’m not your mother, I can’t tell you what to do.”
When David didn’t respond, clueless as ever, she exhaled a sigh. If he didn’t understand now then he never would. He had become so determined to get his revenge that he was blind to everything else, even Faolan. Even her. Normally, Faolan spent a few nights with David a week. In a small amount of time the number dwindled to a single night a week, and now Faolan wouldn’t even go after David because he knew there would be no time for him.
“Just forget it.”
Faolan scratched at the door and Ayden stood to open it. Faolan burst into the room, running around until he found Ayden, rising onto his hind legs to lick her cheek. She couldn’t help but smile before pushing him down, her lips falling upon realizing that Faolan was starting to ignore David.

"Why are you acting like this? I try to be the best I can be, is it not good enough anymore?"
He had been doing his best to watch over Faolan and be with Ayden, but something seemed to be pulling them apart. When ever he went looking for Ayden, she never seemed to be around and Faolan wasn't going on walks with him much anymore. It was as if both of them had discovered something wrong about him and did their best to keep him out.
When Faolan came into the room, he smiled at the energetic young pup. But that smile disappeared when he realized that his four legged companion wasn't greeting him. When he reached out to scratch Faolan behind the ears, the wolf actually growled at him. He drew his hand back and just sat their, watching the two people he thought he knew playing on his bed.

Her jaw dropped. Was he trying to pin this on her?
“Why am I…you really…”
She paused and held her breath, counting in order to keep herself from biting his head off. If David thought this was all her fault then he had something else coming. Even she was astounded when Faolan growled at David. The wolf was fully aware of how irritated Ayden was with David and he seemed to have his own irritations with David.
Ayden glared at the massive puppy and flicked his ear, insuring that Faolan knew that what he had done was not ok.
“He’s not going to hurt me, you dope.”
Faolan still seemed dubious, but he lowered his guard.

"I know I haven't been around you much lately, but you're acting as if all of this is my fault. Do I need to remind you about all those times you disappeared for months on end?"
He couldn't believe she was making this seem like it was all him. Yeah, he'll admit, his feeling of revenge had come back, and he wanted to get it soon, but he would always put everything off to be with her and the pup. These days, however, it was like none of that mattered, like it was because of him that they were acting this way.
"and you can be mad at me all you want to, but that won't help either." he said to the grumbling Faolan.

The only time Ayden had vanished without a trace had been when she was kidnapped and her mind was taken over by a shadow from Alice’s mind. Was he really going to blame her for that too? He clearly didn’t know that the only time she would crash on him to spend time with him was when there wasn’t something else on his mind and lately it seemed that Cain was the only person arresting his thoughts. It was a tough act to follow.
Faolan was prepared to get defensive over Ayden again when she grabbed his collar and yanked him back to her side to keep the wolf from doing something he would regret.
“If it’s so important for you to be right instead of see that you’ve become obsessive then I’ll just see you later.” She glared at him and followed Faolan out of the room, slamming it behind her.

He was about to do something about Faolan when the wolf started growling at him. Did she seriously forget all those times she was gone? It wasn't just her kidnapping, and if she took the time to explore his mind she would see all the hours both he and Faolan spent waiting for her. When she slammed the door, he growled and looked to the picture of them. He picked up the framed picture of the three of them and looked it over, wondering what had happened to make them fall apart. He opened the frame and took the picture out, then tossed it towards the garbage. As the picture went into the bucket, he decided that whatever had happened to draw the tree apart had completely destroyed them. He knew he wasn't obsessed with Cain, and if took the time to understand all that he had gone through then she would understand.
"Have it your way then."
He placed the empty frame back on the shelf and stood up, grabbing his jacket and heading towards the door. Ayden and Ian had both turned away from him, even when he needed them the most. He was going after Cain alone if need be, though he knew he may not live through it. The least he could do was stall for time. He opened the door, taking one last look at his room, focusing on the now empty frame sitting next to the picture of his parents, then closing the door behind him as he left.
