When Ayden woke, her vision was blurry and her hands bound. Her head ached as if she had been beaten with a club and she was nearly frozen solid. She smelled of chlorine and her hair was damp. She moved her legs together to realize that they were bare and when she attempted to move her torso she yelped out, skin ripping from being placed upon a frozen surface while she was still wet. It was then that she began to remember. ’That’s right. I was swimming at the mansion. But where am I now?’
She blinked rapidly and her vision began to clear. Her surroundings were bleak and vapid. She would have tried to sit up again, but she feared losing more skin than was necessary. She lifted her head to further explore her new prison, only to find that she was not alone. Another girl was on the ground on the other side of the room, unconscious as Ayden had been only moments. Ayden wondered if the girl was another student.
’Hello?’ Ayden called to the girl’s mind, praying that she wasn’t dead. ’Can you hear me? You have to wake up. Please?’ Ayden hoped that her words might cause the girl to stir.
Her attention was averted again when she heard noises through the thick walls that surrounded her. She placed her head back down on the ground and shut her eyes, hoping to wake up and find this was all merely a bad dream.

You have to wake up.
Alice twitched in her slumber. Who was that...? She didn't recognize their voice... Did she really need to wake up? She'd rather stay asleep. I can't... Won't... her thoughts echoed through her head. If she woke up she'd feel the pain and hunger again... But she needed to. Where was she? It was cold...
Finally her eyes fluttered, still some resistance on her part as she slowly woke up. She twitched when she saw how bright it was. "To bright..." She shut her eyes as she rolled onto her back, grunting as she sat up. "To bright..." She repeated, finally opening her eyes to squint towards the ceiling. The room suddenly darkened a little, almost twilight dark on her side of the room. At last she took in the room, groggy from the drugs still. "Huh...?" She spotted another girl on the opposite side of the room. "Who are you?" Another look around the room. "Where are we...?"

When she heard Alice, both her thoughts and her voice, she exhaled a sigh of relief, happy to not be the only living person in the room. Though she didn’t want to, Ayden pulled her arm off the ground, wincing as pieces of her skin peels off, leaving her arm bloody. She fought back cries of pain as she listened to Alice’s questions. Once he arms were free, she answered. “My name is Ayden Xavier. As for where we are, I haven’t the slightest idea. All I remember is sitting on the floor of the pool like I do every night. It seems that was a mistake. I would have dressed warmly had I known we would be here.” She motioned at her swimming suite, which covered up nothing with the exception of what a bra and panties would.
Ayden then proceeded to tear her upper body from the floor, trying to conceal just how much pain she was putting herself through. However, she knew it was better to get it over with while she was determined rather than when she had time to scare herself out of it. “I have no idea where we are. All I know is that we aren’t alone here. I heard voices through the walls. They’re inaudible, but they’re definitely voices.” Now sitting up, ignoring the tattered skin that was torn from her body and left her side and arm nearly bare of any skin. She rose her hands to her lips and began to bite at the rope that bound her wrists together. “What‘s your name?” Ayden questioned, mostly as an afterthought. Wither they liked it or not, it seemed that she and this girl were going to be stuck together for a while.

Alice looked away, covering her ears when she heard this stranger literally tear her own skin to get up. It was like something woke inside her when she heard it, a dark, engulfing presence that wanted to sink it's teeth into this other girl. Whether the mind reader would hear it, she didn't know. But she'd see the affect. The shadows around Alice seemed to sharpen, wanting to claw out of the 2 dimensional world that they were trapped in.
She took deep breaths, pushing it back as far as she could. But she could still feel it... The blood lust. "Don't... Don't do that." Alice almost sighed as she got it under control, uncovering her ears and opening her eyes a little to squint at Ayden. "I'm... Alice..."
Right then, the events of the day came crashing down on her. "Wait... What happened...?" She paused, trying to organize her thoughts. "Rogue... I was talking to Rogue... And then... Storm? I don't know." She hit herself in the forehead with her hands, trying to remember.

Something dark was plaguing Alice’s mind when Ayden was getting up. Ayden didn’t want to feel was Alice was feeling, but she still did. “I’m sorry. It’s not that I wanted to do that. I just know that the longer I stay the worse it will be.”
Ayden nodded at Alice’s name. She had heard it before, but they had never met. “Ok, Alice. I don’t know what we do from here, other than hope that you don’t turn cannibal on me.” he cheeks flushed and she looked ashamed. “I’m sorry. I’m not able to keep my mind to myself like my grandfather. It’s rather annoying, really.”
Ayden’s brows furrowed in confusion at this. “You think Rogue and Storm did this? I can’t see into Storm’s mind because she had mental immunity, but I’ve been around Rogue enough to know that she would rather die than doing this.”
Ayden sighed, her imagination starting to run wild. It was then that the door opened, only to be shut abruptly. In strode Storm, or so it seemed She smiled at the girls before her eyes rested on Alice. “Hello again, Alice.” She turned her eyes towards Ayden and her smile stood. “And you must be Ayden.” This confused Ayden further, but when ‘Storm’s’ skin began to melt away, exposing Mystique’s true exterior, things became clearer. Then Ayden remembered the girl at the pool.
“You brought us here!” Ayden shouted, thrusting her body forward, stopping when the skin on her legs tore. She winced and coiled back into her original place.
Mystique rolled her eyes. “Some of the so-called men around here. They can’t even make sure that our guests are properly cared for. I’ll just go and find better accommodations for you.”
Ayden began shouting orders for the blue woman to come back and explain herself, but Mystique ignored her and vanished behind the door again, a loud clank announcing that the door was locked again. Ayden clenched her hands into fists and wanted to scream, but restrained herself. She would need her energy elsewhere.

Alice tried to laugh at the cannibal comment. "No... I wouldn't eat you... You might want to be careful of me trying to kill you though..." Her small laugh died, slowly lowering her eyes to the floor. She blinked, looking up when she said it wasn't possible to be Storm. "I don't think it was really them... Rogue changed into Storm. I don't know who it was..." She shook her head, just as confused.
When she heard the door screech open, she slowly turned her gaze to stare at whoever it was. She just ignored 'Storm' when she greeted the girl, her eyes slowly narrowing. She didn't say a thing, but that monster in her that Ayden had heard roared, wanting to tear the blue woman limb by limb. The images in her head so gruesome she had to look away, hands to her temples as she tried to shake the images out.
Carefully, she looked back to Ayden when the door closed, spotting her clenched fists and angry expression. She then looked to the door, her eyes narrowing around. The door... her thoughts were almost commanding, the shadows at her feet leaping out into the three dimensional world, shaping into spears to strike the door. They didn't do any damage. She just about screamed herself in frustration. "Get that door!" she did just about scream, shadows striking the door repeatedly, the sound ringing through the room they were in, and whatever was outside the room

Ayden smirked at this. “People often underestimate just how powerful my powers are because I rarely use them. However, if you gave me some warning then I might be able to alter your mind just enough to convince you to stop. The brain controls everything and…well, I can control other people’s brains…to an extent. I’ve never tried to restrain another’s power before, but it’s always a possibility. Ayden’s dark brows arched at this. “That does sound exceptionally strange.
A deafening cry infiltrated her mind and before the shadows tucked into the corners of the room began to attack the door. Ayden had to admit that she was shocked, but she also knew that Alice getting angry in this fashion could serve to be fatal, for her and others. She actually had to fight to get into Alice’s mind, which was something she had never needed to do before, but in little time, she held a mental connection with Alice.
’I know you want to kill her, but we don’t know who all is out there. Alice, I’m angry too. Very angry, but we need to reasonable. If you can’t calm yourself down then I can already promise you that people are going to get hurt. People who you don’t want to hurt. Please, just settle down, for now. Once we’ve put some reason into our actions then you can be as angry as you like, but I know you don’t want to hurt anyone. You might be annoyed, but I’m trying to help you.
Ayden prayed that her plea to calm Alice wouldn’t turn the girl on her instead.

She did this. Kill her. Kill her. Kill her!
The whispers were almost like a lullaby to Alice, her resistance growing weaker and weaker. Until she head Ayden's voice. It was like having her eyes open again, finding herself drowning in the darkness and trying to get out. Ayden was right. She didn't want to hurt them... She had to stop. Had to. The shadows began to dwindle, slowly returning to their proper places instead of assaulting the door anymore. Alice wrapped her arms around her legs, her whole body trembling. The voices were still there, stronger then usual. But she couldn't give in again. Not when Ayden was there.
"I'm sorry... If I scared you..."

When Alice stopped, Ayden exhaled a sigh of relief. When Alice apologized, a slight smile pulled at Ayden’s mouth. “Don’t worry about it. It’s not like you could really help yourself. It was fairly difficult to get into your mind at all so that alone makes it clear that you weren’t the one wanting to cause anyone harm.”
She glanced over her shoulder as one of the shadows settled back into its proper place. It was then that she got a thread of an idea. “Can you control the shadows when you aren’t pissed off?”
What Ayden had in mind would be a long shot. Not to mention it would be difficult. Since she had woken up her ability was becoming clearer and the place they were kept was surrounded by many people. However, it was clear to her that she and Alice were very powerful individually. Together, these people might have had something to truly be afraid of. ’ I’d have to ‘convince’ someone to give me their clothes and shoes though.’ she thought to herself as she allowed the thought to turn over her mind.

Alice thought about what Ayden said for a moment. "But it is me... Or a part of me really." Another personality almost, always whispering things of death to her. She shook her head, concentrating on something else to get her mind off of it. When Ayden asked if she only controlled shadows when angry, she blinked, before fixing her with a 'Seriously?' sort of looks. "Yeah. Easily. It's second nature to me." She paused, thinking a little. "They're just... a lot more violent when I get angry. With out me telling them to be."
The way she spoke, she obviously treated shadows like people. As if they had their own personalities and thoughts. Alice shook her head again, looking at Ayden. "All I really do is manipulate light levels and let shadows be three dimensional. But it lets me do a ton. Illusions are the easiest. All I really have to do is play with the light levels in a certain pattern. Only my illusions can hurt people if I want them to." She suddenly paused. "You didn't say what you could do. Is it just read minds? Or is it more then that?"

“It’s a part of you, but it isn’t you.” Were the only words that Ayden said to Alice. When Alice explained about the shadows, she bit her lip in thought. It seemed like the shadows were doing an excellent job of breaking down the door, but if it was merely an illusion then she wasn’t sure if that would do any good. Then again, maybe they didn’t need the shadows to break down the door.
When Ayden was asked about her ability, a small smile pulled at her lips. “I take after my grandfather. I can read minds, which isn’t difficult at all. It’s just like eavesdropping, only there’s no chance that anyone will know I can hear what’s in their mind. I can also manipulate minds, to an extent. If you brought me someone who had lost their mind then I wouldn’t be able to make them sane. Once a mind is lost, it’s near impossible to get it back. However, if I really needed to, no that I would ever want to, I could make someone lose their mind easily. I can cause illusions as well, but the illusions I make are…mental illusions. Here, I’ll show you.”
Since Ayden knew her torn skin was bothering Alice, she linked her mind to hers and began to contort the image before her. In Alice’s mind, she would see Ayden with all of her skin in tact, no blood trickling down her wrists, or anywhere else. Once Alice would have time to take in the image, Ayden removed the image. “I don’t like manipulating minds, and I always make sure the images leave when I do.” She explained herself briefly.

"That doesn't even make sense."Alice just shook her head, trying not to dwell on it at all as she looked around the room again, looking for anything she might have missed. No holes, nothing. Nothing that could be used for their escape. Just the door. She turned to stare intently at it, almost glaring. She wanted to attack it again, but held the urge back in case she lost it again.
Alice looked over just in time to see Ayden's illusion, slowly blinking. A part of her instantly hated those types of illusions. All in her head. It wasn't 'real'. It didn't count. Finally though, she sighed, rubbing her eyes. "You're going to bleed to death..." She turned her attention back to the door, her own shadow leaping out and striking the door like a hammer. "HEY!! YOU FREAKING GOOD FOR NOTHING KIDNAPPERS!!" It struck the door again. "IF YOU DON'T COME TAKE CARE OF HER-!" She held her tongue, trying not to threaten them any more. But her blood was boiling a little. How could those imbeciles let her go through something like this?!
((It wasn't an illusion XP They are shadows that become three dimensional, but she has the capability of making illusions.))

Ayden laughed slightly when Alice declared that her words made no sense. “That’s the trouble of living in everyone else’s minds. Normally whatever comes out of your mouth makes no sense to anyone but yourself.”
She glanced down at her hands once her illusion faded. “I don’t like switching around a person’s mind, but it has come in handy from time to time. It helps to serve as a good distraction if you need to get out of a pinch, but I haven’t really been in a pinch for a while. This…I wouldn’t call it a pinch. More a clamp.”
Ayden sighed and shook her head. “Don’t lose your temper on my account. I’ll be fine. Besides, they’ll be back sooner or later and when that happens I’m going to give them a piece of my mind, or take a piece of theirs. It would serve them right. Besides, I’ve been through worse.” She pulled her hair aside, revealing a silver line that reached from her clavicle to the middle of her neck. “My dad got upset when I told my parents that I had developed a telepathic power, which is how I discovered that he’s a mutant himself. He got angry about it and tried to remove my head with a hunting knife. He would have succeeded too were it not for my mother. She hit him over the head with a frying pan and called an ambulance for me. A hell of a lot of stitches later my mother disowned me anyway. I can deal with a little bit of torn off skin.”

"Sooner or later isn't good enough..." Alice closed her eyes, wrapping her arms around her legs and letting her shadow pound on the door still, as if it were knocking, only far louder and harder. She paused when Ayden spoke of her parents, not moving an inch as she listened. "Some parents are better then none...." Alice didn't talk to much about her parents to people. "My dad was an alcoholic, and when he got drunk he liked to hit things... Especially people with whatever he could get his hands on. And my mom was... I don't know what she was. She would just lose control sometimes." She didn't seem all that emotional about it, a part of her closing off as she spoke so it wouldn't get to her. "I was only five or six when I had my first 'black out'. When I came to, I was outside the house and it was burning. I don't know what happened, even now. But something kept telling me that I was a murderer. That I'd killed my own parents, and that it wouldn't be the last time I killed."
She sighed, shaking her head and letting her shadow pound on the door again. "I don't necessarily care if you've had worse. The sight of blood, any amount of blood... It makes me itch. And the only way to sooth it is to lose control or get rid of the temptation.." Alice wasn't very sympathetic, but at the same time was. Didn't care she was hurt now, but cared if she was hurt later. What a strange girl she was...

Ayden listened intently to Alice, as she always did with people she was first meeting. For some reason, she always found it interesting what people said as opposed to what they thought. It was rarely ever the same thing. Her head had been starting to ache after she inserted herself into Alice's mind, but she had paid it no heed until now.She was going to respond to Alice before her head started pounding. Suddenly, Ayden was certain that she was going to double over and vomit, her head was pounding and in a matter of moments, she had blacked out, collapsing onto the icy ground and exhaling a long, low breath.
It was a very short matter of time before Ayden woke again, but she was...different. She could feel the barriers of her mind collapsed and all of her control seemed to be gone. It seemed that Alice's mentality put some sort of a strain on Ayden's telepathy and influenced her in a negative way.
Ayden opened her eyes and looked Alice over hungrily. "Who are you?" she questioned, slowly standing, paying no mind to the icy ground that tore at her skin, licking her lips. Her eyes shot back towards the door and thoughts of another entered her mind as if they had been spoken. The blue woman entered again, contemplating temping offers to lure Ayden and Alice out of the School for the Gifted. "Blood." Ayden hissed before the words could escape the woman's mouth.
Mystique smiled, "That can be arranged." She looked at Alice, extending the same offer before letting Ayden out of the room, waiting for Alice's reply.
Ayden listened intently before she heard someone thinking senseless thoughts. In a matter of moments, she was on them, ignoring their screams. However, deep inside, Ayden's true else screamed to gain control. Somehow, part of Alice's mentality entered her mind with last their connection. It had happened to her before, but had only lasted a second and was no where near as powerful as this was. Ayden wished it would stop, but her wish went was ignored.
