By the time Art made it to the main gates of the institute it was one in the morning. The trip back had taken longer then he'd expected. The new Paragon had spent his night out meeting a very interesting girl, almost going on a friendly 'date' with her, and then getting bashed. What a great evening.
He typed in his student code and swiped his card. The Main Gate opened a little too noisily for his taste. They closed behind him and he winced while walking. Art had acquired a new set of broken ribs on his right side. He crouched on the ground, walking under the trees. Trying to walk seem as inconspicuous as possible.
Phoenix was still wearing the same black hoodie and bright orange skinny jeans. Now though, his hair was black and styled straight down. He pulled his hood over his head, sneaking into the institute. Still crouched on the ground. Good, it was dark and didn't seem like anyone was awake.

Cacen was in the main hall that led to front doors. He had just spent the last four trying to find his sugar glider Gizmo whom he had let of his cage. Cacen had thought it would be fun to let his friend out and show him to some of the other students, that was until he ran off somewhere and he had to try and find him. When he had finally found Gizmo it was almost one in the mourning. He was just heading toward his room when he heard the front doors open.
Cacen was startled. ‘Who would come at two in the morning?’ He thought to himself as he turned around and walked back down the hall he had just been a second ago. He saw a person about his age trying to sneak in. Cacen just lifted an eye brow while trying to keep a hold of the wiggling sugar glider.

Art started walking towards the main hall, biting his lip anxiously. He started to slide against the wall, hopping that no one would be up at this hour of the night. His hair changed color from black to purple which was inconvenient. Trying to crouch and stay pressed against the wall caused him to trip and faceplant
"Shit..." he cursed a little bit to loudly. Still though it couldn't be loufly enough to wake anyone up right?

Vin turned into the main hall and saw Cacen. She stepped closer to him and looked at his sugar glider curiously for a moment, and then looked up at him.
She was a very light sleeper, and the moment she heard any kind of noise she was always up investigating, especially at this time of night. Not only did she hear someone fall, but she could've sworn she heard a voice, too.
"It wasn't you who made that sound, was it?" her tone was emotionless and her expression impossible to read. From sensing his emotions, she had a feeling he didn't know what had made the noise either, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Cscen’s eye brow just lifted up further when the person sneaking in was clinging to the walls. ‘Who does this guy think he is? James Bond?’ He continued to watch him for a few minuets until he heard someone else coming up coming up from behind him. He looked over and saw Vin. “No it wasn’t me it was James Bond over there.” He pointed to where Art was still hugging the wall, then he fell. “Though I don’t think he would make a very good one. He hasn’t noticed me at all.”

James bond? Had he just been called James Bond? Art had noticed both of their presciences when the blond girl had spoken. So now he was pretty much screwed. He had never been good at being inconspicuous, which had been proven earlier that night.
"Actually I have noticed you, and your freind.." Phoenix said, angry for being caught. Now, if these two ratted him out, it would probably mean some kind of unnecessary punishment. Every movement he made was agony, even with the pain killers. Anyone could see that he was in quite a beat up state.
Art walked over to the pair, biting his lip nervously. "Could you two pretend you didn't see me?" he asked them. It probably wouldn't be hard because nobody ever noticed him. This was very out of his character, like a lot of things he'd done tonight. Sneaking in, talking to other people at the institute, approaching other people in general.

"No, we can't pretend we didn't see you. You can barely walk. Who did this to you?" Vin turned to Art, still keeping a blank stare on her face, but her tone was a bit more concerned now.
She knew that it was typical for guys to get into trouble. It wasn't surprising that he'd snuck out. But usually boys don't come back limping in agony...

Cacen turned to look at Art when he spoke to him and Vin. Friend? Cacen may know who Vin is, but he wasn’t friends with her. In fact most people didn’t even know Cacen was there since he is usually so quiet. “We could pretend we didn’t see you but it wouldn’t do any good.” Vin was an X-man so she could punish him herself.
When he heard Vin saw he was hurt Cacen’s eyes widened a little. “You’re hurt and you don’t think that people will notice tomorrow?” Cacen then thought about something. “And if we do pretend we didn’t see you and the professor finds out we’ll all be in trouble. I don’t want that to happen.”

Vin hesitated a moment then. Technically, she could punish him... she'd never punished anyone before. She'd always let the other X-men handle it. She was just there to help keep the peace, once in a while step in for the teacher or something like that. The professor always knew exactly what to do, so she decided to just go to him about it, despite what Art says. And Cacen was right. If the professor or any other of the X-men found out about this and that they didn't tell them, they could be in more trouble than Art.
She would have said something else, but didn't really know what else to say. Talking to people she didn't know definitely wasn't her specialty. She had seen Art and Cacen around, but that doesn't really count for anything. She was sure no one ever noticed her either. Just because she's an X-man doesn't make her the center of attention.

"At the Pier, Mutant haters," Art told the blond x-man, hanging his head in exhaustion. The beating he'd taken was finally sinking into his body, and mind. Leaving him completely depleted of energy. He really wasn't in the mood for conflict. The only thing on his mind right now was a pillow.
"I'll just say i tripped down a flight of stairs...It's not that hard to believe," Phoenix lifted his head up, addressing Cacen who was also Paragon. He wasn't going to say why he was at the Pier. Let alone who he was with. That would probably just get him into more trouble. He almost groaned out loud. It was defiantly a longer night then he'd expected.

Vin lowered her eyebrows suspiciously. "Why were you at the pier?" She had a feeling that she wouldn't get an answer out of him. She had a right to ask him, and either way the professor would know the moment he laid eyes on Phoenix, anyway. Either way, she was curious. And after examining him, it really wasn't that surprising he fell down a flight of stairs. That part was definitely believable.
But something else came out of his emotions that she couldn't quite pinpoint, and it bugged her. She had a feeling that he'd been with someone while he was at the pier, but she couldn't figure out who is was. A friend of his, maybe...? She found his emotions difficult to read, but that was probably just because it was two in the morning.

"Can't someone go to the beach with out being questioned about it?" Art told the both of them, sounding offended. The truth was that he wasn't offended at all. He was actually extremely nervous about getting into alot of trouble.
He could just picture it right now. Beast, or worse, Logan finding them all up. Then they would be questioned. Phoenix would be discovered and put under house arrest for all of eternity. That was a little mello-dramatic though. Thinking about it, house arrest seemed like a fair enough price to pay. Meeting a girl like Maron was worth it.
((a teacher should wake up and get Art in trouble ^_^))

That's when it clicked. Vin finally saw through his foggy emotions. She should've known. She would have calmed him down through her empathy, but decided against it. Partly because she was too tired to mess with Art's emotions tonight, but mostly because nervous boys entertained her.
"So where is Maron now?" she raised her eyebrows at him, barely able to hide her smirk. She did manage to lower her smile down to a slight twitch of her lips but then went back to her blank expression.

At first a really confuse look came over Art. What? How did she know Maron? Then it all clicked together. This blond was an empath, or a telepath, or something along those lines. Realizing this, his lips twitched into an almost smile. She was good. 'Outta my head please.. he thought, loud and clear. Putting all his guards up and covering up anything he didn't want her to know or feel. Hopefully that would work.
"Don't know. Who is she?" Phoenix asked, playing dumb as best he could. Had he shut her out? What if she pried into his mind? She could find out about his sister. All of these thoughts rand through his head so fast that they would probably hit her hard. Maybe confuse her. Unintentionally of course. He bit his lip, swallowing down more nerves.

"Nice try," she admired him for trying to block her out, but it was pointless. "But I'm not getting out of your head until you answer me. Unless, you think we should go to the professor about this...?" she cocked one eyebrow at him.
She intended on telling the professor anyway, but not now. She was planning to tell the professor not to punish him that much, and she had a feeling he would listen to her. Of course, she was always willing to make it sound like Art should be expelled. If that's what it took to get an answer out of him, she'd do it.
She was, however, impressed that Art figured out she was a empath so quickly and was enjoying the conversation with the injured boy even though the tone in her voice was still emotionless.
