"And I have a question: What is love? What is love? Oh, oh oh oh-oh-oh Is it giving up?
Alec Morgenstern sang, strumming his acoustic guitar. He was nodding his head to the beat as his fingers switched from chord to chord. The song that he was singing had been written by him. He continued singing as the sun speckled the area around him, coming in through the canopies. Alec had come to the forest today for some alone time. Only now instead of trying to sleep like he had been a couple day's ago, he was having himself a picnic.
He sat cross legged and barefoot on a blue and white blanket. Today he was wearing a black v-neck and the same blue and Grey, wholly skinny jeans he'd been wearing at the beach. Around him were some tofu burgers and a glass bottle of soy milk. For about three years now he was proud to call himself a vegan. Ever since he'd visited a farm and seen how cruel the animals were treated. Given growth hormones to make them grow faster. Living in cramped, disgusting, quarters. It made him sick.
See, I don't know anymore I used to look Up to That love[/b]
Alec sang, that was the last verse and let the chord ring out into the breeze. He was actually very talented at singing. He'd went to Nashville, almost got a record deal, until they found out he was a mutant. Though, that didn't affect him too much. He didn't want to be famous. Just to sing about life, and love, and peace. He really didn't care who heard him. It's so nice to be alone. Alec thought with a content. He set the guitar aside, biting into a tofu burger and gulping down some soy milk.
Nothing could ruin this day. It was perfect.

(Awesome XD)
It seemed Rory was going to be staying at this school longer than he had anticipated. Not that he minded to much, the facility was excellent for training, the people were friendly despite the fact that they got on his nerves some times. Whenever they did though he had the forest, a place he could retreat to for solitude and silence. He also used the forest for training, since most of the students didn't venture as deep into it as he did it allowed him to train easier.
Right now it was a mixture of both. He had come out for some excercising and a bit of solitude from the school. By his count, he had already ran about twenty-five miles, done a few hundred pull-ups and push-ups, and had just broken into a good sweat. He was returning to the school for lunch and to change clothes. He was wearing some long shorts and a white undershirt, both of which were a bit wet with sweat.
Suddenly he heard a voice coming almost directly in front of him. As he got closer he realized that they whoever it was, they were singing. Rory stepped into a clearing, right behind a boy with a guitar, and he had just ended his song. Despite breathing heavily, Rory had been eerily quiet approaching the boy, yet another of his habits.
"Not bad boy-o." Rory finally spoke, standing behind the boy and unable to see him or his picnic meal. Though he had to admit, knowing that there was food nearby was making him a bit hungry.

Alec nearly jumped out of his skin at the older man's voice. Some of his soy milk spillt onto the grass, along with his tofu burger. He turned around, smiling non the less. It's not like he could be mad about someone spooking him. After all, it didn't take much to scare him. After all, there's no use crying over spillt milk right?
"Thanks, that means a lot.. especially from a stranger," he said, running his fingers through his matted, messy, brown hair. Alec grabbed the bottle, putting the cap on it to prevent something like this from happening again. As he reached for his burger and took a bite of it, he let out a small sigh. Secretly, he hoped this man would just leave. All he wanted was a nice, relaxing, secluded, picnic in the forest.
With Alec's free hand, he grabbed another burger wrapped in foil. "Want one?" he asked, tossing it up to the man anyway. He didn't even bother telling the man it was a vegi-burger. By now, it just seemed like an ordinary piece of food. This Irish guy looked extremely hungry as is, so maybe he wouldn't even care.

"Eh, think nothin' of it boy-o." He said, scratching the back of his head. Not only was he not used to people being so nice, he wasn't used to being nice himself. It felt unnatural, a small part of Rory felt like he should just reach out and snap the boys neck. A very small part of him though, and one that was quickly being stifled and put under control as of late.
When the boy turned around Rory raised a brow. He was very young, and had a strange hair style along with piercings in a weird place. Rory shouldn't exactly be one to judge though, while one of his tattoos was covered by the shirt, only half of the other was. The ornate, celtic tattoo on his right arm that covered his shoulder and extended almost to the middle of his forearm was half-way visible.
Normally he was hesitent to show it at all, mostly because he could not remember where he got it, but right now he didn't have much choice. The strange thing about the tattoo was that sometimes when Rory had died and his body almost completely destroyed, the tattoo was always there when his body healed again.
Rory had been looking off toward the mansion when the boy tossed him a burger, but he reacted quickly enough to catch it in time. "Thanks, I suppose." Rory said as he peeled off the foil and walked around to face the boy from the front. Rory was just about to bite into it when he spoke again, "So, do ye live here at the man-... Seo mar blagh cac! Cá an ifreann!" Rory muttered in Gaelic, before spitting out the bite he had taken. "Oi! What's in this?" He probably asked it a bit more angrily than he had intended to.

Alec liked this guy and his accent. He seemed nice enough. He noticed the tattoo's on the man and thought of his own. The words LIVE FREE tattooed across his knuckles. The band's around his biceps. An image of a dead tree and image of a living tree on his left and right shoulders. LOVE IS MY WEAPON on his upper chest. A yin and yang sign on each of his elbows. The peace sign on top of his left foot. Theses were only a few of the visible or partially visible tattoo's on his body at the moment.
Sure, these tattoo's had been pretty painful. Actually, they'd been agonizingly painful. (all in all he had twenty six tattoos). But he figured it was worth it. Tattoo's were permanent and he was aware of that. Which was why all of his tattoos showed of what Alec believed in. He enjoyed people seeing his tattoo's and asking questions actually.
Now the young man knew that some people yelled when they were surprised. But Alec had definitely not been expecting a reaction quite like that. First, the man started yelling in what he could only guess was Gaelic. When he was addressed so harshly, he practically shrank where he was sitting. If he'd been spooked before, he was absolutely terrified now.
"Sorry sorry! It's called tofu... I forgot! Just calm down please," Alec told the older man. He put his hands out in front of him and looked away. Mentally he tried to prepare himself for being hit. This brought back all to painful memories about his abusive family life. He squeezed his eyes shut.
This was such a picnic gone wrong!

Rory had almost immediately turned from the boy, slightly, and began to spit out the burger onto the forest floor. For a few minutes he continued to spit, and gag slightly, trying to get the horrible taste out of his mouth. His taste buds had, had a pretty good shock when they expected a nice big juicy hunk of meat and got whatever this thing was instead. He stood there with his tongue hanging out of his mouth for a moment, as if begging the taste to go away, when the boy started to speak again.
"Tofu burger?!? What kind of hippy eats this crap... Wait a minute..." Rory slowly turned to where the boys picnic was laid out. There was absolutely no type of meat products, that was heresy in Rory's mind. Then it hit him, there was also no cheese, milk, or other animal byproducts. This kid was a vegan, Rory thought those were myths.
When he looked at the boy he saw that he was... Cowering? Understandably, Rory was a fairly imposing person. He was big and obviously very fit, and he had intimidated people with that before. Though, he had barely raised his voice and while he spoke a bit more hostile than he had intended, he wasn't angry. Most people only were afraid of him when he got angry, not when had just gotten annoyed at something.
Now the reason he refused to hurt children was because of their obvious weakness, they were generally afraid. This boy, though, didn't look like a kid anymore. "Well it's no wonder you're so skinny... No meat? Yer crazy!" Rory said, facing the boy fully, annoyed at the boys cowardice. He had never respected fear, he respected people that stood up to fear, not coward from it, "How do ye expect to win a fight if yer only eatin'... Tofu." The last word was said with complete disgust and he tossed the wrapped burger back onto the picnic blanket.

Hippie crap? That wasn't very nice of the older man. "Hippie is an understatement," Alec said. lowering his hands and opening his eyes. There was nothing wrong with bracing himself to get hit. It wasn't a sign of weakness in his opinion. Then he heard what it was the man said next and got a little, heated.
"Who says that i need to be beefy? Besides, fighting isn't the answer to your problems," he said rather boldly. All of his life he'd been bullied of picked on or abused because of what he believed in. This man was right though, he wasn't a little kid anymore. So he shouldn't and didn't have a problem speaking the truth. The tattoo on the inside of his bottom lower lip symbolized that.
So thinking about it, maybe he shouldn't have told this man his logic of not fighting. He was extremely physically fit, taller then him, stronger then him. Then again, Alec could always cause the man to pass out, invade his dream, and make it seem as if he were burning in a lake of fire. Minuets could seem like an eternity in his alternate dream world. That all seemed so violent though!
The only time he would ever actually physically fight was when Alec's life or the life of someone else was in danger. Even non physically (in a dream) he was still reluctant to use his powers to harm someone. He packed up his guitar in its case and put his food and drink into a bag he'd brought with him. "Tofu is sorta like an acquired taste..." he added. Alec wasn't planning on leaving, he'd just sort of lost his appetite now that the man had spit out the tofu. It made him sad that someone was so against new things.

It was after the boy said that hippie was an understatement that he noticed the tattoos on the boy. He was far more hippie than Rory probably would guess, or at least his definition of hippie. Though the boy could probably be more closely related to a pacifist, Rory bunched them all into one group. It made things easier to classify. No, he didn't consider being a pacifist a bad thing, it's just that not fighting tooth and nail for something you cared about bothered him. Perhaps the boy wasn't that much of a pacifist, be he had met some like that before, and now he judged them all that way.
"It may not be the answer to your problems... But it's the only solution to mine." Rory said with an almost regretful tone of voice. The only way he was ever going to get rid of his problems was to completely and utterly annihilate them, which was near impossible. He shook it off though, this wasn't about him, it was about the boy. Rory had taken a sudden interest in making him a fighter, if not a fighter, then someone who wasn't afraid anymore. Why did he care about helping someone? Stumped him, perhaps all these people being nice to him was changing him...
"You're a mutant... You can't avoid a fight. What if you saw a group of criminals hurting a woman, and you knew you could talk them out of it or bash their faces in and prevent them from ever doing it again?" Why the sudden moral evalution quiz? Again, he didn't know, he just wanted to know what made this kid tick. A sick and slightly demented way of showing an interesting in someones well-being, but that was Rory for you.

Now that this man was showing his true colors, Alec did not like it at all. "Maybe you should reevaluate your way of solving problems," he said, standing up as he did so. This guy was just like his father. And the one thing he hated more then violence was his father. In the time when he'd been trying to get himself emancipated it had trained him not to shy away from telling exactly what he thought.
It was easy to figure out what the man was doing. People had asked him questions like this, and it was safe to say that in a situation like this he would most definitely put the men into cardiac arrest. Well maybe not that extreme. Just destroy them mentally and put them in such a fragile state that they would never recover.
"They'd be eating out of a straw. To put it bluntly." he said, looking up at the man. The man could think he'd put them in such a state by force if he wanted. Though it may seem hard to believe, Alec is actually a very powerful mutant.

Rory shook his head at the boy. The kid didn't even know what Rory meant by problems but he was trying to tell him what to do, "Perhaps I should introduce ye to my problems, let ye two talk it out." Rory said with a smirk, he thought it was funny, but he knew the boy probably wouldn't get it. He had to give him one thing though, the boy had some spirit in him. Speaking his mind and all, now if only the boy wasn't afraid of getting hit, Rory might have a bit more respect for him.
The boy's answer surprised him a little, it was violent for someone Rory had considered a pacifist. Though Rory couldn't see how the boy could make a group of bad guys be forced to eat through a straw. He didn't underestimate him though because he was obviously a mutant, so perhaps his powers did allow him to be violent if need be. "Mighty words coming from so obviously against fighting..."
(Way short, sorry, kind of tired right now XD)
