After spending time in the rain earlier that day with Reku, and then going to the beach with Kyle Taylor was craving something warm. She walked into the kitchen intent on making her favorite hot drink, hazelnut hot chocolate. She walked over to where she knew the kettle was and filled it with water. She then leaned against the counter. Waiting for the water to heat up.

Kyle leaned against the doorway. He just watched her make the hot chocolate. Something about the way she moved was graceful and he loved to watch her. He hoped it wouldn't make her self-conscious though. Sometimes people got nervous when people watched or stared at them. He definitely didn't want to make Taylor feel uncomfortable in any way. Just the opposite.

After Taylor had placed the kettle on the stove and had leaned against the counter she noticed Kyle watching her. She just raised her eyebrow. It wasn’t that big of a deal to her; she had a lot of people watch her when she made things. Mostly maids making sure she didn’t hurt herself, and the occasional person hoping that she did. “Do you wish to have some when it is done?”

Kyle nodded and smiled. "I always like hot chocolate, even in the summer when it's hot out," he admitted. She didn't seem bothered by his watching her, so he kept on.
"So, you've seen what I can do," he referred to making the water umbrella, "What can you do?" He knew it was probably better than water manipulation, but he was always curious. "I'm sure whatever it is, it's way cooler than controlling water and turning into it." He smiled at her as he waited to hear her answer, "And less boring."

Taylor nodded and walked over to the cabinet and pulled out to cups and placed them on the table, all the while never caring that he was watching her. When he asked her what she did she turned to face him. She knew this question was coming. There was no way to avoid it at this school. “The professor and I call it Kinetite.”

He pulled his eyebrows together, trying to figure out what that meant. "Um... it has something to do with kinetic energy, right?" he smiled sheeishly. He had no idea what it meant, but different sorts of energy manipulation was pretty common. He just figured that it had something to do with kinetic, although he had no idea what the "tite" part of her word could mean.

Taylor nodded her head when Kyle asked if it had anything to do with kinetic energy. “Yes, a long explanation of what I can do is I can create a fist size ball of energy that can pretty much destroy most things in its path.”

He smiled when she nodded. He loved being right about stuff, but rarely was. "Awesome!" he smiled widely, really wanting to see it. It would probably be to dangerous to do now, but maybe in the danger room later she could show him.
"That's way cooler than tossing some water around, anyway." He thought of a duel between a little puddle and a blast of kinetic energy. It wasn't hard to figure out which one would win.

Taylor cocked her head when he said her power was cooler then hers. She had never really thought of that before. She always thought that all powers were unique and one wasn’t cooler then another. This however gave her an idea. “I would think that controlling water would be a very, as you put it, cool power. But you are probably right and mine is better.” She was just teasing him and she hoped he would realize this.

He just stared at her, knowing that she was just teasing no matter how true it was. But teasing didn't seem part of her nature. He was actually getting her to loosen up a bit and he could tell her mask was beginning to fade. He smiled brightly at her.
"Hey, water isn't that pointless," he argued playfully. He stood and walked over to stand beside her. "It's only somewhat pointless. And what special point does your Kinetoot possess?" he called her power wrong on purpose to see what she'd say. To Kyle, everything about her was a mystery.

Taylor almost smiled when Kyle started to play along with her. She did this a lot with people in the court, messed around with them. It was one way to see who her friend was really and who was just pretending. Her favorite way to mess with people was to tell a joke. A lot of people knew that Taylor didn’t have a very good sense of humor and therefore if someone laughed at a joke that she told that wasn’t very funny she knew that they were just trying to win her favor. “Oh, it is pointless.” Again she was teasing, just like Kyle she was wondering what he was going to say.

"I think the point in being pointless is pretty pointless," Kyle smiled, barely holding back his laugh. He thought a moment, wondering if what he'd just said made any sense. "Don't you think?" his smile returned and he leaned on his elbow against the countertop beside her.
He figured that she was testing him. Why else would she suddenly get a sense of humor, and even that humor wasn't all that funny. He still found it exciting and amusing to hold a conversation with her. He couldn't wait to hear her response.
