Ayden was feeling much better since her little kidnapping with Alice. Her feet were still tender, but she was able to walk on them at least. In addition, less people were afraid of her and her longing for violent outbursts had lessened quite a bit. While doing some homework in her room she realized just how late in the season it was. These would probably be the last warm days of the season. Inspired by a red leaf clinging to her window, she picked up her textbook and notebooks and left the mansion for the grounds, her iPod tucked into her pocket.
For once, the basketball court was unoccupied. She wandered until she was at the far end of the court and seated herself beneath on of the baskets, leaning against the bar that held up the hoop and net. Ayden pushed the earbuds into her ears and turned the music player on, shuffling Motion City Soundtrack before reopening her psychology book.
She scratched down some notes before her mind continued to wander from her work. At first, she wondered where Faolan was, but then she shrugged it off, deciding that her pet must have been with her boyfriend. This in itself made her stop and smile slightly. That was the first time she had referred to David as her boyfriend, even to herself in her mind.
After this, her mind wandered to her grandfather. He was the only person she was willing to admit was her family, yet she did not know him. Nor did he truly know her. She had tried speaking with him before, but he was a busy man. She could not blame him for helping others like them. However, she still wished that they knew each other, other than when she attended his classes.
Her thoughts irritated her. She slammed the book shut and threw it at her feet before shutting her eyes and leaning her head against the pole, turning the music up to close out other noise and thought, hopefully, but that would not happen. However, it was worth a shot.

Your mother was never one for patience either.
A voice inside her head spoke to her, coming from the one person she had been trying to get in touch with for the past month. Charles had indeed been busy with everything that he could be pretty much. The students were in danger, and trying to find a new location for the school was perogative. Not only did Apocalypse know of it's whereabouts, but now so did Cain and the Nightmares. The chances of a direct assault were growing greatly.
But even though he was busy, didn't stop him from paying attention to his students. One of which he had been paying attention to for a while. Ayden had never left his train of thought even after he found out she was there. He wanted to talk to her and explain everything to her, but he could never find the time. Today, however, he managed to get some free time from the students, classes, and had used his mind to locate Ayden. When he found her, he moved his wheelchair to where she was, just in time to see her throw down the book. He had tried to just talk to her, but the headphones were making that hard, so he did the next best thing.

Upon clearly hearing a voice that she didn’t seek out or hear with her ears, she jumped back into the real world, her vibrant blue eyes opening wide and her body springing forward in surprise. When she found herself face to face with her grandfather, she was a bit surprised, to say the least. He was always far too busy to speak with her. She hadn’t been expecting to find him here, or for him to find her here. She wasn’t sure which way it would go.
She pulled her headphones out of her ears and turned off her iPod before swallowing a lump in her throat. In all honesty, she wasn’t exactly sure what to say, or even what to call him. She decided it would be best to start the conversation with that.
“Trust me, I know all about my parents.” She bit her bottom lip and looked down before meeting his gaze again. “So what exactly am I supposed to call you? I mean, I know you’re my grandfather, but I also know that you’re my teacher so I do I call you Professor Grandpa or Grandpa Xavier or Pops Xavier, or just professor Xavier. It’s been wearing on my mind and it’s beginning to be confusing.”
Feeling slightly uncomfortable sitting down on the ground, she slowly stood up, swiping her butt free of the dust it had collected.
“So…what’s up?”

"I must apologize for not meeting with you sooner, time's are quite hard for all of us."
Xavier's hand went to a small lever on his chair, moving it forward as he listened to her speak. In all honesty, he was surprised that she had been able to find him hear. He didn't even know he had a granddaughter until Storm had brought her to his attention. The chair continued forward as she asked about what she could call him, and he couldn't help but chuckle as she came up with. He stopped the chair a couple feet from her.
"Let's just start with professor and work our way up from there."
He looked at her as if seeing her for the first time, noticing how much like her mother she looked. He missed his daughter, and to know that her granddaughter was now standing infront of him warmed his heart like no other. He gave a half smile when she asked "what's up?" acting like he was just another friend. He turned his chair and looked back to her.
"Come, let's take a walk, just the two of us." he smiled, moving the chair forward, "So, how do you like the school so far?"

She nodded. “Trust me, I know.” After all, before the truce with the Brotherhood, she had been kidnapped with the hopes that she would alter her affiliation. She still had the scars to prove it. She was actually growing fond of the ones on her arm, but her legs had once been, in her opinion, hot, and now she needed to keep them covered until she found something that made the scar tissue fade.
Ayden decided that it was best to leave out the fact that she felt unimportant due to their lack contact, but she had grown accustom to being less important.
She nodded when he decided upon professional. She was going to make a thought to herself, but then decided against it, knowing that even her thoughts weren’t safe around him. It had become even worse since her mental barriers had been destroyed by Alice’s powers. She had been careful to keep her distance from Alice. It wasn’t personal, just a precautionary measure. Ayden wasn’t fond of who she became with what she had come to believe was a mental copy of Alice’s dark side.
She followed her grandfather after collecting her books. Upon being asked about school, she merely shrugged. “It’s school. Not the best thing in the world, but it’s better than being at home.” She had been living with just her father before she ran away from home and, thanks to the wonderful invention of bing.com, she found her mother’s father, who happened to be the Headmaster of a school. It wasn’t until she arrived that she knew the school was for mutants, like her. “I actually joined a performing arts group outside of school. No one knows about it though, so I’m not exactly wearing it on a banner. My boyfriend doesn’t even know. I should probably tell him before he thinks I’m cheating on him or something dumb.”

"Yes, it was hard for all of us when you and Alice went missing."
He didn't want to say it, but it was harder for him then anybody else. When he found out that she was taken to the brotherhood, he was worried they would turn her and cause her to fight with them against the school. He was more then relieved, but worried, when he found out that she had escaped, but with wounds on her arms and legs.
"Yes, tell me about how things were back at home. I'm curious."
He hadn't heard much from his family ever since they had discovered him being a mutant. It was hard knowing that his own family didn't want anything to do with him, but their prejudice was what spawned the school, so in a way he was thankful for how they had treated him. When she said she was joining a performing arts group, he smiled at her.
"That's wonderful, Ayden, but I would advise letting David know so he won't get suspicious."

Ayden merely shrugged at this. “I can imagine Alice being gone wearing on your nerves with as scary as she can be, but there are other telepaths out there that must be stronger than me. I think they were aiming for physiological damage.”
When he asked about how things were at home, she shot him a quizzical look.
“It was shit last time I was there. Mom left to god knows where, my father became a psychotic violent outburst after another once I told them I was…talented. So to sum it all up, it was a pocket of rainbows flying out of a unicorn’s butt, only the rainbow was crap and the unicorn was a fat guy with herpes.”
It was obvious she wasn’t happy back at home once she admitted to her powers. She wasn’t exactly shy about it when the subject came up.
She laughed slightly at this.
“I honestly hope he trusts me more than that. The only men who’ve ever touched me are about as straight as a rainbow, and they’re not afraid to show it either.”

"Believe it or not, I was also worried about you. You are my grandchild after all."
He didn't smile when he said this, and even when she were to scan his memories, she could see for herself that he was worried. When she was taken he wanted to send everyone he could out looking for her, but thanks to Cain and the condition Rose was in, things were more crazy around the school then even he thought possible. It was only thanks to the faculty and the help of Rory that things stayed intact.
"Sounds like every mutant's favorite kind of family."
He smirked a bit and chuckled when she talked about her family. It seemed that it was how all families treated their children once people found out they were mutants. He only hoped that, in time, people would be able to accept mutants as they are. He smiled when she spoke of the men that have been around her.
"I'm sure he would be happy to know that as well."

“Hence the physiologic damage I could cause you. They clearly don’t know as much about us as they thought I did. Don’t get me wrong, blue changey girl knew all aobut me and my relation to you, but if they knew anything about the school they would know quite well that we don’t even really know each other. That and there’s the fact that I don’t really have the best control of my powers.”
Ayden arched a brow at this.
“I would actually prefer a family that knew what I was and didn’t alienate me because of my DNA. However, I’m sure you know all about that.”
She smirked.
“I’ll be sure to tell him all about my flashy drama boys when he decides to tell me what he’s planning to do with Cain. Granted, I already know bits and pieces due to not being able to control my blasted head, but he should tell me none the less. It’s probably something stupid that’ll get him killed.”

"I'm glad you got out of there when you did, Ayden, though I'm a bit disturbed about the effect Alice had on you."
It was one of the things he found the most disturbing once Alice and Ayden had returned. It didn't take a mind reader to understand what had happened between the two of them. After he talked with Alice, and had caught a few things from Ayden, the most he could put together wasn't something that any of the children or faculty would've wanted to know about.
"Yes. Of all people in this school, both you and I know most about alienation from family."
He knew exactly what she was talking about, having been the attention of his entire family when it came to them knowing he was a mutant. Some had thoughts that even worried him to this day, others just wanted him gone, so he did just that. If he had known that he had a grand daughter, he would've acted quickly. But when Ayden mentioned David telling her, he stopped and looked at her. The look in his eyes was nothing but worry.
"He'll never tell you, because he doesn't want you in danger. He's planning on facing Cain, and from what I've read through his mind, Anya has joined him."

She bit her lip at this. Ayden had been keeping her distance from Alice since the Brotherhood had kidnapped them. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Alice, for she actually could have seen them being friends under different circumstances. Granted, Alice was a bit insane, but Ayden was as well. She just did a better job of hiding it. Rather than talking aloud to herself Ayden wrote random notes to herself. It had become one of the only things that had separated her voice from all the others she heard since Alice’s madness seemed to rub off on Ayden’s brain. Granted, Ayden could have easily stretched her mind and strengthened her already increasingly strong powers, but she couldn’t control what she heard or what stayed with her.
“My barriers are getting weaker, but my range is getting stronger.” was the only reply she gave to his concern. “It’s becoming harder to control. You would know this, but we’ve never really spoken before now. I’m not trying to make you feel guilty, I promise, it’s just that…well, I have tried. You just never seem to have time.”
She smirked at this.
“Before I ran away, my father was actually in the process of hiring a hitman for me. Luckily for me he only knew that I wasn’t human. He had no idea what I could do. He probably still doesn’t. I’m just glad I don’t have to hear him weezing away in my head anymore.”
When he explained what David was planning on doing, she grew worried for him.
“I could help him if he could let me.”
She paused and glanced down.
“Perhaps he does not trust me.”

"I'm sure we'll have plenty of time once things cool down, Ayden, you have my word on it."
He smirked as Ayden talked about the hitman and how she was able to elude him. He couldn't help but wonder why humans and mutants were so clueless about each other to the point of thinking anybody could go looking for them. When he saw Ayden's worry and concerned for David and his trust in her, Xavier place a hand over hers, allowing her to see the thoughts he saw with David. David's talks with him, which mostly concerned Ayden, his adventures and joy he felt with her.
"Ayden, he cares more for you then his own life. It's because of this, and the new arrival of his sister, that he's doing this. He wants to keep the two of you safe, and in the condition you are, he is worried you will get hurt worse then when you were with Alice."

Ayden said nothing in return to his promise. She had learned to not hold her breath with promises. She had been disappointed far too many times in her life to set her hopes high. She didn’t consider her relationship with her grandfather any different.
Upon feeling his touch and seeing the memories dashing into his mind, she yanked her hand away and secured it in her pocket.
“I’m not a baby. Just because something bad happened to me that doesn’t mean that I can’t handle anything. My mind is a bit more fragile than usual, yes, but I don’t need to have life censored for me. I’m not defenseless, just…changed. Having to rebuild my barriers has only made them stronger. I’m not as useless as people seem to think I am.”

"Ayden, this is not about whether you are week or helpless. David just wants you safe."
He started his chair forward, making sure to stay at a steady speed for her to keep up. He could sense her distrust in the promise he made, and couldn't really argue with her on it. Promises were a fragile thing these days, easy to break, and hard to earn back again.
"Perhaps this is something you should speak to him about."
