Sookie glanced over her shoulder as the fat bulldog that actually belong to this pathetic looking ill dressed woman lay sleeping under the blueberry bush right where she left him. She had only been around this woman for a few minutes and she was already done feeling guilty about what she was about to do. She was a gossiping prejudice spoiled rich prat.
She glanced at the woman’s purse and pulled out the woman’s coin purse with her teeth and found a collection of euros. Sookie had a lot of experience with this so it was quick work. She didn’t need to steal, but she only picked the pockets of those she deemed worthy. This woman was one of them. In a matter of seconds she was back under the blueberry bush. She shifted and changed into her clothes quickly, scratching the lazy dog on the belly before rolling out on the other side and walking away cleanly, laughing lightly, counting the small fortune she had acquired.
She made her way across the park and got onto the metro, not sure where she was going. She didn’t really care. She didn’t need to.

The metro was actually pretty desolate for a late afternoon. Most people during this hour of the day stuck to strutting down the sidewalks and about the beautiful parks that littered the city, Ferdinand however wasn't one of these people. Although he was a master of gaining information, he would rarely be found with the masses and often preferred the quiet seclusion of the public transportation during hours such as this.
Sitting in the back of the car, a cigarette dangling from the left corner of his mouth, Ferdinand laid back in his seat, feet propped up against the one in front of him and his fingers interlocked behind his head. A thick cloud of smoke had accumulated in the metro car by now and as the rail came to a halt, he did his best to expand the cloud as best as possible as to detour any unwanted guests. The way he figured, there were plenty of cars on this metro so why should anyone choose anything other than having a car to themselves?
Nevertheless, Ferdinand took the necessary precautions to keep his solitude. Taking a long drag now on his fairly new cigarette, he closed his eyes and allowed the soothing nicotine to fill his lungs. Holding the fumes deep within his lungs he relished the taste left in his mouth before exhaling another thick gray plume.

Normally, Sookie would have gone to a different car, but the metro was about to leave and she didn’t really want to be stuck in the station. She jumped into the car filled with smoke just as the doors were about to shut. Her nose, being sharper than most humans’, was irritated by the blanket of smoke. She sniffed and sneezed it out.
Her eyes wandered around the car for a moment until she found the source of the smoke. She didn’t understand what was so appealing about cigarettes. They gave you cancer and smelled disgusting. She waved her hand in front of her face, hoping to get at lease some clean air into her lungs.
Sookie generally didn’t talk to many strangers, but generally she wasn’t being suffocated by smoke. Sookie not speaking her mind, especially when she was irritated, even if she was just a little irritated, well that just didn’t happen.
“You know that’s bad for you.”

Opening his right eye into but the tiniest slat, Ferdinand identified the source of the obvious statement. Closing his eye again, he righted himself in his seat and let out another stream of smoke.
"Does it matter? I mean, what isn't bad for you nowadays?"
Matter-of-fact in stating his rebuttal, the Brazilian crossed his legs and made himself look more, authoritative, as though this car was his and his alone; as though the female was in wrong for ever questioning his habit.
While he meant not to be rash, Ferdinand was quite the conversationalist and loved getting into a heated debate. With his, seemingly never-ending, reservoirs of knowledge, Ferdinand was able to go toe-to-toe in any oratory battle.

When he blew out another puff of smoke, her anger rose a bit. Granted, she didn’t know him, but that didn’t stop her from thinking that he was being huffy and territorial. That was a game she didn’t play very nicely when she decided to join. However, for once, her better judgment kept her from biting his head off, either metaphorically or physically. She didn’t care which.
“Oxygen isn’t bad for you, but I guess you wouldn’t know.”
Sookie occasionally smoked, and then it was only hookah tobacco on very rare occasions. For some reason, cigarette smoke always made her light headed and sick. She glared at his silhouette through the fog of smoke before looking in front of her, counting the money she had stolen before tucking it into her wallet, which she had tucked into her back pocket. If there was one thing wrong with Sookie, it was that she took everything personally, even if someone was simply stating his or her opinion and declaring how and why he or she disagreed with hers. She had quite a temper, and wasn’t afraid to show it. It was never a surprise to hear that she had lost it.

Ferdinand could only laugh. A bright, genuinely kind smile radiated from between his lips and his cigarette all but hung on for dear life.
"That was probably the best I've heard in a long time."
Grasping his cigarette with his fingers, Ferdinand relaxed now into his seat as he had been before. No longer with his back erect, the Brazilian sat sloppily and slouched in his chair. With a smile still etched on his face, he wafted the smoke with but two long strokes of his hand and progressively the cloud cleared, nearly erasing all traces of its existence. Inadvertently, the mutant had absorbed the smoke into his body but he did it ever-so gradually that it would be nearly impossible to tell.
"Careful with them loose coins, madame, France is famous for it's skillful pickpockets."
With his well of knowledge, Ferdinand decided to play his hand, meaning that with his know of nearly all the mutants that existed in this world, he wanted to see how far he could push this girl before she realized he was prodding at her conscious, that he was actually aware of who she was and where her morals lied.
"So what brings you down here in the dark abyss of France? Its a beautiful sunshiny day on the surface!"

Sookie could only arch an eyebrow at him.
“The best what you’ve heard in a long time?”
She examined his stance relax, but she became more tense, crossing her legs and extending her back to make herself look taller. Sometimes it was annoying to be so animalistic, but as a whole Sookie didn’t mind. It came with its perks. The smoke began to vanish. Not very quickly, but still. With her senses it was difficult to not notice little things like that. She didn’t know his name or much else about him, but he had just made it obvious that he was a mutant. Smoke just didn’t rush to one place and vanish. She wasn’t the stupid and her senses were just that good.
“I don’t steal coins.”
She stated bluntly, leaning back her eyes locking onto him.
“It’s not like you can prove anything.”
She stated before shaking her head and popping her knuckles, all eight making a loud noise as she pushed her fist into its opposing palm.
“It’s faster to get to my hotel through the metro and I need to take a shower. Your little smokescreen has just made the need worse.”

Her defensive nature naturally took Ferdinand off guard. As she stiffened and threw up her wall he couldn't help but screw up his face in confusion.
"You're kind of dense aren't you? I didn't accuse you of anything! I simply gave a word from the wise. I would hate for you to lose those hard earned coins of yours."
He gestured in an innocent, near childish, manner before making a more abrupt move on the girl.
"That little wall of yours that you throw up to keep others from getting to interested, it stands little obstruction to me..."
Vanishing from solid form, a more dense cloud of smoke funnel through the car and then directed right directly in the seat beside the girl. Solidifying again he crossed his arms and legs and slouched back in the seat.
"I must apologize for my lack of consideration. I didn't realize that you were having such a bore of a day. I must say, if you need any suggestions for some fun, I'd be more than happy to contribute."

Sookie laughed, doubling over at his words.
“Did I say you accused me? No, I just said that I don’t steal coins. I steal bills, weither they be euros or American dollars. Coins are too messy. Granted, I don’t need to steal anything, but I’m selective about the people I take money from and this woman was a greedy prejudice stuck up bitch. Her losing some money won’t kill her.”
She rolled her eyes and merely coughed when he turned into smoke to sit beside her.
“Bitch, please. Don’t expect me to surprised. If any human had so much cigarette smoke on them they would already have a hole in their throat.”
She couldn’t help but to smirk and shake her head.
“I wasn’t lying when I said I needed to take a shower.”

"Coins are the same a dollars in my eyes. Money is money. Everyone has more than I do."
Laughing a little softly, he ignored her statement about not being surprised. It didn't matter whether or not she'd been surprised, his intent was not to startle her nor even as a show of force, but merely what it was, a move into 'her bubble'.
"Trust me, I knew you weren't lying when you said you needed a shower, I could smell you through the smoke the moment you stepped on the train, like wet dog or something."
With a sly wink he reacquainted his lips to his cigarette and began smoking again, this time making sure the smoke moved away from the girl rather than into her face.

“Maybe you just don’t know how to get it.”
She had to admit that she was annoyed that he was so close to her. There was an entire car to the two of them and he just had to be in the seat right next to her. If she knew him it would have been a different story, but she had just met him. Her eyes narrowed at him when he compared her scent to a wet dog.
“That might be the case were I around any wet dogs or if I had gotten wet myself, which I haven’t.”
She scratched the back of her neck, leaning into her nails as they swiped across her skin. The metro came to a halt and she was on her feet, ready to leave, for this was her stop.

As she stood on her feet, Ferdinand shocked to attention. Pouting his lower lip out quite obnoxiously he frowned and sighed loudly.
"Leaving so soon?! I was just beginning to get to know you..."
There was an unmistakable hint of sarcasm in his voice. While he already knew most everything he needed to know about her, he honestly would have preferred to have interacted with her more. He was all about pushing boundaries and thus far he had not been satisfied.
Relishing the taste of the smoke on his thin pink tongue, the Brazilian stood as if to follow the girl. He was a persistent fella and very few things would or, more precisely, could detour him.

She was nearly out of the subway when his voice caught her attention again. Sookie wrinkled her nose at him and fought the urge to snarl at him.
“This is my stop and you know plenty.”
Sookie was out of the door when suddenly she heard him standing up and preparing to follow her. Before he could, she barred the open doors with her arms.
“Haven’t you got anything better to do or are you just determined to fill my lungs with an eon’s worth or cigarette smoke because believe it or not, I haven’t done anything to you.”
Try as she may, she couldn’t figure out why he was being so persistent and annoying.

A sly smirk crossed his lips just before he turned his entire form to smoke. His new mass blew passed her attempts to halt his progress and he appeared outside of train in the station.
"Oh come on. Have some fun! I would only fill your lungs with smoke if I wanted to, and I don't. Now isn't that enough reassurance?"
Taking a moment to think over what he just said he laughed softly as he ran one of his tanned hands through his mess of hair.
"Okay. I understand that you know squat about me and obviously don't like me very much but what do you have to lose? Lets just hang out for a little. Just a wittle tiny bit."
Forming an imaginary spec between his fingers he squished them together and squinted his eyes like adults did to children when trying to demonstrate things sometimes.
"You home won't move. The shower won't start without you. You've got time to spare."

He really couldn’t take a hind, could he? Sookie glared at him over her shoulder before turning and crossing her arms over her chest as he continued to try and convince her to spend time with him. She wasn’t very fond of getting to know new people. Ever since all of her family had died, with the exception of her brother, she found that anyone she tried to get close to only ended up hurting her.
“Fine. One hour and if I decide you’re different."
Sookie ran her fingers through her hair and tease the roots a bit to give it more body before walking past him.
"Come on. I'm hungry. Bitch lady can pay. I'm sure she won't mind."
