Max walked into the kitchen and grabbed a banana from the fruit basket. He sat on the kitchen counter and bit into the banana, wandering what he was doing here. He was knew to Xavier's school and he'd only come here because his aunt had made him. He also didn't like the idea of becoming a soldier for the war, he sighed. Taking everything in, he had no friends here and his sister refused to come here so he was all on his own. He didn't know how to make mutant friends and come out all over again. It was stressful the first time, he wasn't sure if he could do it all again. He heard footsteps but ignored them and just carried on thinking about the situation he was in.

In many ways, Danielle was like a new student. Sure, she knew the layout of the school, sure she'd been there for a few years, but she didn't know a single person. She didn't work that way. She didn't want to know people. Everyone was jerks to her, and she hated it. Friends wasn't something she even understood. The only people she knew were bullies, having dealt with more then her fair share at the school.
Thankfully though, today she hadn't had to deal with any. And so, feeling unusually brave she decided to go find a snack of some sort. Wandering the halls to the kitchen, her mind was completely blank, her arms folded lazily across her chest with her mass of hair left hanging in waves all the way down to her waist. Most the students were outside today, enjoying the last few days of warm weather. It made things easier. Less people to notice her.
She almost sighed as she entered the kitchen, noticing only one person in the room. She didn't recognize him, but that wasn't a surprise in the least. She didn't even consider talking to him as she pulled open one of the cabinets, staring up at it's contents, contemplating. If the boy were to look at her, all he'd really see was her long, deep red hair and bone white skin...

Max looked up at Danielle, he didn't know whether to talk to her or not. He was quite disappointed that the first student he saw in this school wouldn't even talk to him. But he didn't bother to get himself worked up. He saw a chocolate bar on the other side of the kitchen and he couldn't be bothered to get up. He put two finger up and moved them towards himself and the chocolate bar shot over to him and Max caught it. He unwrapped it and took a bite, he was shy around the new girl, he didn't want to talk to a bully and get bullied for the rest of hjs time at the school.

Danielle was definitely not a bully. She didn't even talk to most people because she just couldn't relate to them. Finally she decided on something, pulling out a box of granola bars and snatching a couple before returning the box and closing the cupboard. She turned, to leave the room as quickly as possible, when she saw something moving in the corner of her eye. A floating chocolate bar?
It was moving to that unknown student, her light hazel gaze following it curiously for only a few moments. Telekinetic, huh? It shouldn't have surprised her. Telekinesis wasn't a rare power in the least. Still, it made her a little jealous.... That someone could have such a useful power, even if it was common! Most powers were better then hers, after all.
For some reason though, Danielle just watched the stranger for a few moments, her gaze hard to read, as if unsure what to make of him, or really what to do. She knew most students hated her just entering and leaving with out a single word, but what else was she supposed to do?

Max looked up again. He couldn't quite read the girl's expression so he decided to speak up. "Are you ok?" He said genuinely concerned, he hoped that nothing bad was going to come of that but he acted on instinct and hoped it paid off. He waited for the other student to answer while also taking another bite of the chocolate bar, he didn't want to seem rude but he felt he had to talk to someone. After all his counsellor said it would help greatly.

Danielle just about jumped when he spoke, as if having never even considered he would actually talk to her! If it were possible, she might have blushed, but her bone white skin couldn't hold any color, even something as simple as a blush. Her surprise was still easy to read though, finally an emotion that you could figure out on her expression.
"Do I look... not okay?" That sounded very strange, but sometimes her creativity with the English language was zero to none, like right now. Her accent was strong, very strong. She'd obviously only been in the US for a few years, her Russian accent still making it very difficult to understand her words.

Max shook his head. "It's not that, I just couldn't read your expression." Max's British accent was still strong and he liked it, he looked at Danielle, not sure what to make of her. It was slightly strange how he was talking to someone and yet this was one of the worst conversations he'd ever had. Worse than talking to his aunt, or rather shouting. Still at least he was talking to someone, he was unsure of Danielle's power and become wary of whether she would use it against him.
