• Power/s [/color] | Simply put, Rose creates, and manipulates force fields (Because of the midnight black color of said force fields, the substance is called dark matter, if only because it reminds people of black holes.). But, it’s far from simple. The young woman is a master of the ability, and has found hundreds of ways to use this power in both defense and offense, and manipulate the substance into any shape desired.

Her power also enables her to place mental barriers on herself, and others, to keep out telepaths.
• Flaw/s [/color] | First, her emotions. While they enhance her power they also make her uncontrollable, and will attack both friends and foes. Also, her ability to place mental barriers is limited, she can’t hold them indefinitely, and they won’t stay up unless she is constantly thinking about it, and the longer she holds it, the worse her headache will get until she won’t be able to use her power at all.
• weapons [/color] | Rose is trained to use a wide variety of weapons, so she is incredibly lethal no matter what is in her hands. But, she does keep several throwing knifes on her at all times.

Martial arts – she’s no master, but she can do some serious damage when she tries.

Rose is very much like her name sake when it comes to appearance. She has a very regal look to her, with a hint of fragility. The resemblance doesn't end there though, because she has completely mastered the ability to send you running with a single glare. Basically, her thorns pack quite the punch.

The woman is obviously beautiful, even in the most casual of dress it's hard to ignore her almost unrivaled looked. Okay, there are people better looking then her, but perhaps the reason few think it, is because she has an air of superiority about her. She knows she's good looking, and she exploits it.

Dress wise, she prefers expensive, designer quality goods, which is probably why so many people call her stunning, she dresses to impress! Sometimes though, you will find her more casually dressed, and which point she has more of a cute, girl next door look.

Rose is… Well difficult to understand. She's had an incredibly hard life up till now, and it definitely made her stronger… but not friendlier!

To start, she is a ruthless and deadly weapon. The young woman’s a Nightshade after all! Her younger years she was trained in combat and battle, her teens were spent using these skills…. And now she struggles to control them as they attempt to consume her… Through a series of events, the girl found herself victim to an insidious scheme, where she was held as a lab rat for many months. She went through countless tests and enhancements, and ultimately became stronger then her captors could have imagined. Originally, the plan was to see how far you could push the human body, to see if certain enhancements were, indeed, possible. They proved to be exactly that, Rose being their first success. Now, she is even more a natural killer and assassin, and with her new skills managed to free herself.

So, of course, she is extremely ruthless. But she’s also cold, heartless, and uncaring. In fact, she’s been called a slight Sociopath, because she seems incapable of empathy, that or she just really doesn’t care! The point is, she doesn’t get along with people, not just because she lacks the capability to understand them, but also because she treats most people like inferior creatures, and thus not worth her time. Rarely will she speak to strangers unless she feels an unnatural need to, and even then her answers are usually short, harsh and to the point. Rarely does she say more than is necessary, or try and carry a conversation. Instead, she seems more focused on getting her point across and then being rid of you!

For all her silence and harsh speech, she is actually a very, very smart woman. Smart, cunning, and all around brilliant. She is an extremely fast learner, but rarely studies anything she is not interested in. Instead, she focuses on skills that can help keep her alive, which makes her a dangerous adversary in any situation. She is like a fox, in the sense that you don’t trust her, because she’ll outsmart you before you even have a chance to realize what has happened. Usually though, she keeps to her books, ignoring the rest of the world.

Rose has very few friends, even fake ones. Obviously, since she treats people so poorly, making real friends is rather…. Difficult. And since she feels no desire to make fake ones…. There are more reasons though, because of the girl’s past, she’s become very untrusting towards strangers, not to mention, she’s seen so many people she cares about die Basically, she’s saving them from possible death…

At the same time though, she is extremely self centered, and self preserving. When it comes down to it, she’d rather keep on living then die for someone else. A little cruel on her part, but the woman’s a Nightshade, that’s sort of…. Trained into them. You do what it takes to survive, no matter what. The only time she might act selfless, is when someone very, very close to her would be saved. Sadly, there is no one in her life right now like that.

The woman is, usually, very secretive of her real identity. Before her suicide, Rose had many enemies, so things would be very ugly if it was discovered that she was alive! Not only would Rose’s life be in danger, but so would the lives of anyone around her. And enough people have died because of her.

Few know this, but even though Rose is of British decent, she has never lived in the country. In fact, she was born in Saint Petersburg, one of the largest cities in Russia. She lived in the country until she came to Xavier's. So, yes, she does in fact have an accent, but she has gone to great lengths to hide it. She speaks like any American, but when flustered her real accent will show through. She didn't speak English first after all! She is officially a Dual citizen, so she is a citizen of both Russia and the United States.

Well, Rose’s past is… Complicated to put it simply! She was born the second, and youngest, child of Anya Ellwood and Yukon Nightshade(odd name, but the Nightshades have a thing for picking popular names for their children depending on what country they are in at the time.) At the time, the couple and their daughter lived in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Because of this tradition of odd naming, Rose was, in fact, born Rozalina Yelena, but few know this. Originally she went by Roza for short, but changed it to Rose when she came to the States. While not Russian by ethnicity, she was born and raised in the country, so Russian was actually her first language, English second, and, when flustered, will speak in a Russian accent. The family lived in the country for ten years, away from the main family, but that didn’t mean she avoided their influence.

Ever since Rose was little, it was obvious she was…. Different. Both in good and bad ways. Good, being her unnatural degree of control over her power she had from a very young age, and even the fact that she showed signs of being a mutant so early (around the time she was three.). Bad…. Her unwillingness to use her power against others. Oh, she was a natural when it came to defending herself, but she did everything she could to avoid offense. It wasn’t until Shadow, the oldest of the Nightshade children, and Parker, Shadow’s younger brother, came to stay with the family one summer that things changed.

Rose grew extremely close to both her cousins, Parker because he was closer in age then her, and Shadow because her power was so similar. Shadow become a sort of mentor to the girl, forcing her to learn how to use her power offensively. It was probably this reason that she decided to run away. It still took several years to work up the courage though.

When Rose was eleven, the family was finally moving back to England, a place Rose had only been a handful of times before. During the chaos of moving, Rose found her chance to escape, and took it. By some miracle, or not so much (apparently, a mutant with the ability to see the future had been looking out for her), she was found by a boy a few years older than her, named Ian Snyder. He was a fellow mutant, with super speed. Between the two of them, they found their way to the school and formed an unbreakable bond (not really, but that’s later in the story. Don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.).

Over the next few years, the two were inseparable, no matter what. They managed to overcome every hardship that came their way, murder attempts, kidnappings, wars… And, as they grew older, their feelings started to change. It was obvious the two loved each other, and as more than friends, but it wasn’t until Parker, Rose’s cousin, came to the school that these feelings finally surfaced. You’d think there would be a happy ending there…

Sadly, things took a turn for the worst. At the time, a mutant, simply called ‘Cain’, was wreaking havoc on the world. To put it simply, him and Rose were mortal enemies. They’d had several encounters, but neither had managed to kill the other. So, in an attempt to put an end to his most dangerous adversary, Cain used Ian against Rose, brainwashing him. Rose, to this day, still doesn’t know about the brainwashing. But the betrayal of her oldest and dearest friend (boyfriend at the time…) was so great, Rose willingly forgot everything. Amnesia. Because of this event, the Nightshade training, which she had tried so hard to keep in check surfaced, and almost killed Ian. The two were pitted against each other from then on.

Her memories remained locked for several months, but when Ian had finally managed to track her down, everything started to return to her. Realizing what she’d done, and what she was doing (trying to kill Ian again), she made the only choice she felt she had left, kill herself to protect him from herself.

The suicide attempt failed, though most don’t know this. Rose was given a fake identity, false memories, and placed with a normal family (who also were given false memories) to keep her, and those close to her safe. Her appearance was even altered so only a few would recognize her. Even Ian didn’t know she had survived. There was a slip up though, and the same mutant that had saved Rose so many years before, told Ian that she still lived, which caused a whole mess of things.

Ian managed to trigger her real memories, but in the process, left her incredibly vulnerable, which is how she fell victim to some inhuman human experiments. Basically, things were just complicated. When they finally settled down, Ian was dead, and Rose was left alone. She will never recover from the lose.

Since Ian’s death, Rose for some reason stayed on with the X-men, while attending a local college.
