McKay stood outside of the gate looking up the long driveway that lead to the giant mansion, feeling not a little bit intimated. He wasn't use to being this close to building like this, living most of his life on the streets, you know, just another one of the marvelous things that came with being an orphan, and so he was feeling a little out of place and was about to turn around and figure something else out when a siring pain ran throughout his body promptly reminding him about why he was there in the first place.
Thinking back to his encounter with the girl, X-23, he remembered what she said about this school and more importantly about the medical personal at this school and how they were used to dealing with various injuries. Normally after a fight McKay would tend to his injuries on his own, but he knew he would most likely need some sort of medical attention this time just to make sure he didn't have any broken ribs, though he was almost pretty sure he had, and he was not looking forward to going to a regular hospital and explaining how he got those injuries.
So taking a deep breath McKay pushed open the gates of the school and slowly made his way up the path to the school, and as soon as he was through the doors of the school, it was a school so it was ok to just walk in right?, made his way in the direction the girl had told him the infirmary was located. Though as he made his way down the various hallways his uneasy started to grow and he wanted to just get out of there right then and there. In fact when he actually reached the infirmary he was actually just about to turn around and bolt out of there, forget his injuries, when he heard the sound of footsteps. Well to late now.

X-23 could smell the scent of someone familiar. She followed the scent down the hallway, toward the infirmary. So the boy from the street had come to medical attention. For some reason she felt that she needed to help since she was the one who suggested he’d come here. She round the corner and spotted the boy, the smell of blood still coming from him. He was obviously still hurt.
She stopped first, wondering what she could do to help since she didn’t know any first aid what so ever, but it seemed he had already noticed the girl’s presence. She walked over, absent-mindedly clutching her dog tags. Hopefully he would try to attack her again because of this type of game.
The dark haired girl walked over to him, her face not showing any emotion. What did Professor X say again? Try to smile when trying to help someone. She gave a small smile, obviously showing she doesn’t smile enough, and let go of the dog tags. “I see you decided to come. I thought it was you I smelled.” Her smile dropped into her usual expressionless figure. She stood there and just looked at him noting all the visible injures she could sense.
“I don’t know where the doctor is right know, but I can wait with you if you like.” She said glancing away for a moment. She didn’t know about him, but X-23 felt that he could be one of her friends. She could never really make friends easily due to her upbringing, but the meeting they had before seem to have broken the ice for X-23.

It had been a trying day on the scientist. Hank hadn't been feeling too well but still managed to get some work done. And that was what he was buried in at that moment...work. He had been analyzing a few DNA strands to try and single out a certain strand. It was trying his patience but he kept at it. That was until he heard voices in the other room. Hm...so there were visitors now...just what he needed.
Wearing his usual labcoat and shorts Hank walked out into the infirmary section of his lab to see the strange boy and X-23. "So what seems to be the problem?" It was obvious that the injured one was the boy. After all if X-23 was injured it wouldn't be long before those would heal. So his attention remained on the strange boy. He wondered what brought him here, probably a mutant he supposed. Hmm. Perhaps he could manage to get a blood sample. Yes...that'd work out nicely.
"Why don't you sit up on the table there and I'll get a few things ready. You don't need to stay here if you don't want to." He spoke to X-23 over his shoulder before he busied himself with a few tools while he waited for the boy to comply.

What was he doing here? What on earth possessed him into coming here thinking it was a good idea? These were the thoughts running through McKay's head as he simply stared at the door in front of him, unable to just walk in or avoid the person the oncoming footsteps belonged to. There weren't many things that could unsettle McKay but when they came they came big. The only thing McKay wanted to do was to bolt out of there and pretend this thing never happened.
McKay almost jumped when he heard X-23 voice start talking to him and it was only from the years of living on the streets that he didn't he just simply turned around to give her a slight wave, though the usual smile the adorned his face was missing.
His nerves were still to frayed from this place that he didn't immediately start to calm down when he saw a friendly face, this was so out of character for him that even he noticed it, and they didn't even get the chance to when the door in front of him suddenly opened of it's own accord and what he could only guess as the rooms owner walked out into the hall. When he was asked what the problem was McKay found himself strangely silent his normal distrust of adults kicking in.
Just as McKay's rebellious streak was about to kick in a sharp pain in his ribs reminded him way he was here and why that course of action was a bad idea. Swallowing his as much of his distrust as he could McKay climbed up onto the table and looked down, waiting for the doctor get everything set up.

She could sense the doctor before he came in. She only glanced at the unopened door once before it open and Doctor Hank McCoy came in. Her expression was the same as always, blank and the doctor address Mckay. She could tell the other boy was nervous, very nervous. The fear that radiated from the boy reminded X-23 of a dog trapped in a steel cage. She looked at the room, white walls seemed to surround them just like the examination room back at the facility. She clutched her dog tags tightly trying to calm herself down. She wasn’t back there anymore. Right now she was among friends.
Her attention came back to Hank as he spoke to X-23. The black hair girl listened to his words carefully, but couldn’t decide whether or not he was ordering her to leave. She shifted a little uncomfortable. “If you wish for me to leave I will, but I rather stay. He is my friend after all.” She said bluntly. The girl wasn’t sure Mckay thought of her as a friend, but X-23 knew she thought of him as a friend. He was one of the few people she actually talked to through her own will. That was an accomplishment for the antisocial girl.

Hank glanced over to X-23 for a moment after her comment. "Well I never said you had to leave." He gave a slight smirk before he turned back to his instruments for another moment or so. When he returned he had a small rolling tray with him that remained off to the side before he turned his attention to the boy infront of him. It was hard to judge patients sometimes, especially ones that he wasn't familiar with. "You will have to lay down please."
And while the boy complied, or as much as he could with the injury he had, Hank pulled down the x-ray platforms from the ceiling to hover above him. "Let's see what we have here..." It was only a few moments before there were films in Hank's hands and he was examining them in a light box. He stared at the films for a moment with his hand cradling his chin slightly. The injuries were rather interesting...but he refrained from commenting while he stared at them. Setting the bones back in place would take a careful movement or two.
"You will have to stay in the infirmary for a few days..." Another off handed comment directed towards McKay without really looking at him.

Ok he had to calm down. Acting as though someone was going to just randomly attack him at any second wasn't going to help in this type of situation, it might even just make it worse. Taking a couple of deep breaths McKay forced himself to calm down and soon he was to the point where he wasn't jumping at every little thing, though he was still tense.
While trying to calm himself McKay had tuned out the rest of the world and didn't notice anything before X-23 had said that he was a friend and his head shot to her direction and it took all of McKay's street smarts to not to look at her like she had just grown an extra head. She had just met him a couple of days ago and she was already calling him her friend? This was exactly the type of situations he tried so hard to avoid. He hated people getting to close to him it was one of the reasons he had chosen this place.
Placing a hand behind his head McKay looked at X-23 with a small smile. “Wow we only met a few days ago and you already consider me a friend I feel honered.” That was right put up the wall and hopefully she won't get close and then leave as soon as he could.
When the doctor said he would have to stay here for a couple of days he almost cringed. Damn that complicated things a bit to much. Turning his atttention to the strange blue doctor McKay asked, “Really? How long do you think I'll have to stay here?”

X-23 looked at Mckay with an expressionless face as he spoke. Maybe she was incorrect in the matter. “If you don’t want to be friends, then we are aquatints.” She said bluntly. Her eyes traveled back to the doctor as he spoke of Mckay staying for a little while. She was slightly happy, but she knew he might not want her to get to close. The look in his eyes said to X-23 he didn’t want to be close to people. She was very observant when it came to people. Though it hurt a little to loose someone she thought of a friend, but it was the way people were around her. One minute someone would try to be friendly, only to run off when they see how she acted. Mckay’s reasoning was different, though it still disappointed her.
While the doctor finished the check up on the young man, X-23 went and sat quietly in one of the chairs. She didn’t want to leave just yet, but after Mckay had been diagnosed and treated she would leave if that was what Mckay wanted. She didn’t mind following people’s wishes, or in her mind they were orders to follow. She looked around the infirmary seeing this room for the third time. She really never needed to come into the infirmary considering she could heal almost instantly. She could smell the fear coming from Mckay, so she wouldn’t be so mean as to leave him with a person he’s never really met before.

"Well that all really depends on how well you heal now doesn't it?" Henry smirked a little while he continued to stare upon the possible work he would have to put the poor kid through. But broken ribs really wasn't all that interesting...experiment wise. There was nothing he could think of that would make this kid useful to him. So he supposed that left him with doing the 'right' thing.
Hank turned about to dig in a drawer so that he could pull out some fabric wraps that could be fastened on the boy's chest. He placed a nice pile upon a tray and slid the tray over to the table where McKay sat. "Rib injuries are tricky. The problem really is that you need to breathe to live. If you didn't have to breathe, well then your healing time would be fairly quick. Unfortunately that constant moving of those pesky lungs cause the bones to move a great deal. I would like for you to stay here so that you will be limited in your activities. But you will still have to wear this bandage for at least three weeks before I can give another X-ray and see how well the bones are setting."
He tended to ramble on so he didn't really care if the boy or the other that accompanied him really listened to what he said while he prepared the bandages.
