"I can handle myself."
That was the only thing she said as he stood up and turned his back to her. She had heard everything he said. He transformed into a humanoid bat. He couldn't control it. She knew that was the beat she had seen deep in his eyes but she didn't care. She had dealt with so much more in her years on this earth and she knew if he did change and attack her then she could handle it. It was that simple but she could tell from his body language and the sound of his voice that he needed more convincing. She stood up and walked over to him standing in front of him.
"Luther, I'm 127 years old. It's because I have a healing ability. I've been through more stuff than most people. I'm pretty sure I can handle it if you changed tonight. I like watching the sunset here anyways so it looks like you're stuck with me."
She wasn't about to leave. It looked like he needed someone just like she needed someone. He wanted her to leave but what he was about to find out was that she was stubborn and wouldn't back down without a fight. It was who she was and she wasn't going to change. She felt a connection with him and she was not about to give that up. It had been so long since she had felt any sort of connection with anyone.

L U T H E R That was one thing Luther did not expect, Genevieve being 127 years old. She looked more like in her twenties. Still having accelerated healing abilities probably meant that her aging process slowed down. He had heard other mutants talking about those types of mutants while he was in the camps. He opened his mouth to protest, but the look in her eyes told him she was down. So she had a stubborn side too. He smiled a little, a small weight lifting off his shoulders. This woman was something else.
“I can see clearly you aren’t taking no for an answer.” He said with a sigh. It was funny he was giving up so easily. Maybe he really wanted her to stay even though he knew the dangers. Luther looked at the dog that had lifted his head in all the commotion. He leaned down and pet his blocky black head. He unclipped the long leash allowing the animal to roam the graveyard that night. Didn’t want to get him involved.
He sat down on the ground now ready to watch the sun set. He patted the ground next to him for Genevieve to sit next to him. It wouldn’t be bad to see the sun set before all hell broke loose. If Genevieve wanted to leave she could leave anytime, but he knew he couldn’t force her to leave. Like his father always told him, always be nice to lady no matter what. There was silence, and then Luther just began to speak. “You know this thing inside me killed my family.” He said.
It was like the dam broke and everything just sorta spilled out. “I had younger twin brothers. One died while the other survived, though know he hates me and wants to hunt me down, but every time he catches me he never tries to kill me.” Luther said looking at the sun sink ever so slowly behind the horizon. “I always wonder if it’s because he still loves me or if he just wants to watch me suffer.” He paused surprised by how honest he was being. “Sorry, I’m just throwing my troubles on you. Just forget it.”

Gnevieve watched his reaction as she told her about how old she was. She hadn't really wanted to tell him how old she was but she felt like she needed to especially for him to let her stay here tonight. She didn't have to but oddly she wanted to. She wanted to be here with him tonight and if anything did happen he wanted to be here for him and maybe even help if she could. She heard how music could calm down animals so maybe she could calm him down if he transformed.
The small brunette looked over as he sat down on the ground and patted the ground next to him for her to sit. She smiled and sat down next to him and leaned against the tree that was giving them shade. The sky was turning more red and hints of purple on the edges. The sun was falling farther down into the horizon.
She leaned back and watched it with him until he started speaking again. She glanced over at him as he spoke. It had killed his family. Now that was something that worried her a bit. But she was still confident that she could help him. She knew what it was like to lose family but not what it felt like to know that you were the one who killed them. At least he still had one brother left even if he was trying to hunt him down. Genevieve thought that he let him go because he still loved him. She would have done the same for her sister. Without realizing it she reached out and took his hand in her and squeezed it reassuringly.
"You can throw all of your troubles on me whenever you want. Personally I think he still loves you."

L U T H E R Luther gave her a small smile as her hand rapped into his. Her hand was warm and reassuring allowing him relax a little. Still he was on edge about the coming darkness. The darkness was not his friend. A small pain began to form in the back of his mind, as it grew darker. He looked away cursing inwardly at the timing it had. It always started out as a dull pain in the back of his mind as it slowly tried to break out. It was still light out so the creature of darkness didn’t want out just yet.
He slipped his hand out Genevieve’s trying not to make eye contact. He got up and began gathering up the scattered tools. “I’ll clean this up real quick.” He said trying to keep himself busy before the change. He felt helpless in trying to get her to leave. Luther really didn’t want anyone to see his monstrous form, but he could bring himself to make her leave. It was frustrating. He had gathered the tools in a neat pile by the car. Luther closed the hood so the engine wouldn’t be exposed.
He pulled a ragged dirty cover over it hoping no scavengers would try to pick it clean. His face seemed to not show all the anxiety that was building up inside. Luther was always good at hiding his feelings. He tried to force his heart beat to slow down, but it just seem to make it worse. He had just finished covering the last bit of the car when a spiking pain shot up his back. He fell to one knee, teeth clenched. He had gone through this some many times he never really yelled out when the transformation happened. The transformation had begun.

Genevieve held his hand for a bit and smiled at him to try and reassure him that everything would be alright. His hand felt good in hers. It was rough and worn but it was warm in her hand and she squeezed it again looking up at him. It was getting darker now and she could almost feel the anxiety radiating off him when he stood up and said he needed to tidy up. Maybe it was the one power she had that let her go into people's minds but she could feel his emotions for a bit. It had to have been from the touch they had just shared.
The sky started turning a dark purple with only the slightest hint of pink left. The stars were twinkling in the sky now and she looked up at them in wonder. She had always loved the stars. When she was littler her and her sister would sit outside for hours just laying under the stars.
She stood up and started to hep him pick up the tools. As they worked she saw him fall to one knee and clench his jaw. Genevieve stopped in her tracks. Anyone else would have gone over to see if he was alright but from what he had told her she knew that wasn't a good idea. The brunette watched him. He looked like he was in pain and her heart ached wanting to go and comfort him but she stayed where she was. Part of her mind told her to run but a bigger part told her to stay. Maybe it wasn't her mind. Maybe it was her heart.
"Luther..."

L U T H E R Luther stood up, a headache spiking through his mind now. He backed away from the car and Genevieve until he bumped into something behind him. His senses were sharpening as fast as his conscious was fading. He could hear two men talking blocks away. The smell of oil and gasoline was beginning to clog his nose. His skin began to burn as the skin began to morph. He quickly pulled off both shirts he was wearing to relive himself from the heat reveling more of the scars he had on his chest and back. The bones under his skin began to move to make a wider rib cage, longer finger-like claws, and clawed feet, the boots practically ripping off his now large claw feet. His ears began to morph into large bat-like ears and his face became more flat and animal like. His once green eyes turned completely white and long sharp fangs poked out. His arms grew slightly longer and leather wings sprouted from the arms. He was now about a foot taller that his previous height and had only his pants on now. The transformation had been complete and Luther blacked out…The creature was confused on where it was. It knocked over the pile of tires behind it causing a loud noise. It startled the beast and it jumped back, now on all fours. A low growl was in its throat as it stared at the direction the noise came from. The creature had horrible eyesight so all it could make out were blurring objects around it and the smell of oil was disorienting. It was very cautious backing up only to bump into the pile of tools Luther had gathered up before.
It jumped once again this time tearing up the car door that lay near by. Luckily it wasn’t the car door of either of the cars Genevieve and Luther were fixing up. Just a junk car. Still the creature was panicking. The loud sounds and intoxicating smells were only making the beast panic. It wanted to run and hunt just as its instincts told it to do. Suddenly it heard the familiar sound of a human voice. It turned it’s head in the direction of the sound sure something living was there. It must have been prey. Yet the beast made no move just yet to attack the woman who stood there.

Genevieve stood where she was and watched him transform right in front of her eyes. It was scary and she could see that he was in pain. She could almost feel it as her mind reached out on its own trying to pull on something. Her eyes were wide and uncertain. Her hands shook a little. She wanted to go over and comfort him and let him know that it was alright but her feet were glued to where she was standing next to the car the two had been working on only a little bit ago.
Once the transformation was complete she was now looking at a rather large bat-like creature that seemed to be confused about where it was. Luther wasn't there anymore now she could see that. There was a wild beast standing in front of her and getting startled by every little noise and movement. She figured that he was being overwhelmed but the scents that flowed in the air as well. She watched it move around and jump at the things it ran into and finally tearing a car door apart. If it decided to attack her then she was screwed. This thing was powerful and now she was seeing it as it turned and looked at her coming a little closer.
"Luther, it's me, Genevieve. It's alright."
She knew before she even said anything that it wasn't going to work. She thought maybe that she could sooth the beast with talking to it but it was a longshot. She just prayed that it wouldn't come any closer or try to attack her. She needed to think of something and something fast. She wouldn't leave him though.
