David awoke from his small makeshift campground. He had on him only his backpack a spare set of clothes and a lighter for when he needed to use his mutant powers to start a fire. He had been running and hiding from society because for one he was a mutant and two he had accidentally killed his ex-boyfriend. Sure he was pissed at the time because he caught the man cheating but it didn't explain to him why a candle which was burning nearby suddenly had it's flame get much larger and begin to engulf the place in flames. He was scared as he couldn't explain it nor did he want to believe he was the one who caused the fire. There was no denying it because he discovered with his lighter he could make the flame larger or smaller with concentration.
He got up and dusted himself off and made his way to the lake that was nearby because he needed to clean himself up from the debris that had collected from sleeping on the dirt. He bathed and once he got out of the water he placed his clothes back on. He didn't like being on the run but if he avoid interaction with people. It was less likely to have a repeat occurence of what happened back in the states. He couldn't go back and face them again. Not after what he had done. He needed to face facts. He was a criminal and mutant on the run from the law. He just wanted to go back to the way things were before his mutation but this was impossible.

G W E N A dark, tall figure moved in the shadows of the trees. It was silent and quick making sure to say quite as it stalked its prey. A rather large fox was digging at a rabbit’s hole, trying to catch the frightened creature. It was too busy to notice the figure draw its bow, arrow in position and fly right into the creatures’ side. The fox slumped to the ground dead. The figure rose now revealing a tall hooded woman. She was wearing a bear pelt tube top and a wolf skin around her waist to cover her lower area, with a long brown cloak. She wasn’t wearing shoes and her skin was covered in brown and black striped fur with a cat tail coming out behind her, She lowered the hood to reveal her cat like face. She was no doubt a mutant Wild Cat Human Hybrid.
Gwen picked up the dead fox, satisfied with the kill. She had grown up in the wilderness, so hunting made her feel better when she was feeling down. She was, in fact, with the brotherhood, but today she was taking the day off. Gwen had decided to leave the ruins to hunt where the prey was plentiful and fresh, in Canada. Her cat like mouth twitched in a grin as she thought of all the game she could hunt. It was something she did best and it made her relax. With all these mutant hunters around, it was hard for some with her appearance to walk around the city. Here she could relax, to some extent.
Suddenly she heard some thing off a little bit. She could smell the sent of someone close by. All relaxation left her body and her muscles tensed. She hid the fox she had just killed, along with her bow and arrows, and pulled out her dagger. If it were a mutant hunter that had followed her up here, then she’d take them out before they knew what hit them. It was careless of her to have someone follow her for so long. She snuck into the bushes, cat eyes observing what she saw. A young man was pulling on his shirt after obviously bathing. He had his pants on already, so she hadn’t seen anything. He didn’t have much stuff in the makeshift camp with told her he was either a lost human or a run away mutant. She couldn’t just leave him if he was a mutant.
She came out of the bushes, dagger still in hand. She had a stone face on with expression so as to not show any weakness. “Are you human or mutant?” She asked with a fierce tone.

David walked back to the campground. He was fully clothed in a dirty tattered old clothes. He pulled out his lighter from his backpack and just as he was about to light the fire. David heard a voice behind him. He jumped and suddenly the flame on his lighter became larger and he had to focus really hard to hope it didn't become too large for him to control. He didn't need a repeat of the night his Boyfriend died. It would make matters worse to be labeled a serial arsonist because of simple mistake. He looked at the intruder and the young woman was a mutant just like him. He looked away and kicked the dirt as he closed the lid on his lighter. "I.....I'm M.....Mutant." He stuttered. He didn't really trust anyone not after his father tried to hand him over to the anti-mutant authorities.
He froze wonder if to run or to stay back and fight this person. He was scared. David's feet shook a little and turned to bolt but something odd kept him there. Somehow his feet felt frozen to the ground. He knew it had nothing to do with this woman because she looked like a hybrid creature and like she didn't have the power to stop him from running if she chose to. He just sat down and just wondered what to do. He just sat there wondering what to do. He had been caught and now he was either going to be betrayed by this mutant or told what to do.He was not wanting to do that. He just sighed and closed his wondered about his next plan of action.

G W E N Gwen narrowed her cat eyes as he stuttered out the response. He was mutant then. She had noticed the spark of the lighter loose control for a moment. He had the ability to control fire it seemed, pryokinesis. Gwen could tell that he was terrified of not just her but probably the mutant hunters. She knew all to well that in this day of age, trust wasn’t easy for mutants. Gwen herself couldn’t trust anyone easily. She finally sheathed her dagger in the leather sheath on her thigh. Gwen looked at the young man with observing eyes.
She could tell this mutant had gone through a lot, probably his abilities had recently awakened. It was a rough time to be a mutant, but with the Brotherhood, Gwen hopped to change how mutants were treated. Let them be hunted and see how they liked it. Focusing back to the present, Gwen observed he had little supplies and food. “Stay here, I’ll be back.” She said her tone a little less fierce than before. If it was a mutant in trouble, Gwen couldn’t help but help them out. She grabbed the fox she had killed earlier along with her bow and arrows and returned in less than two minutes.
“You should save that lighter for when you really need to use it. To protect your self from mutant hunters.” She said looking him in the eyes. With that, she started a fire with some flint and wood. With the fire started, she pulled out some cooked meat and held it for the young man. He looked hungry, probably hadn’t had much to eat while trying to out run the hunters. “I may look rough on the outside, but I am not a mutant hunter.” She said pulling out a piece for herself and biting off a piece.

David watched and listened as she spoke. She apparently wanted the young mutant to stay put but he was scared and something told him to run. He didn't however even had much time to run in the first place. She had returned with a fox in her hands. It looked like a hearty meal and he had not caught much for his own meals recently and the boy was starving. "I really didn't mean to ummmm make my lighter flame grow on you like that. I was merely just trying to start a fire." He sighed. He had not yet learned to control his powers and this was one of those time that could of been really bad if he caught someone else on fire.
"I am sorry. You may be a mutant like me but something inside tells me not to trust you or anyone because I my experience has told me that even those you think can be trusted will turn on you in a heart beat. " David sighed as took the meat and began to chew on it. It was filling and he had not had a hearty meal like this in ages. He still didn't completely trust her but she wasn't all that bad if she provided him with food. "So Ummm my name is David but I don't think you will see me long enough to even remember that. Nor does it really matter. " He sighed finishing the food and putting his stuff away. He didn't know what else to say or do.

G W E N Gwen narrowed her cat eyes as he spoke. His words held some truth to them. Even she couldn’t trust people including this mutant that sat here with her. “You don’t have to apologize. I am the one who startled you.” She said eating the last of her meal. She poked the fire throwing in more wood to keep the flame going. She was looking at him as he continues to speak, cat eyes trained on the fire. Her ears, however, were turned so she’d be listening. A small cat-like smile appeared on her face as the words reached her ears. He was smart for listening to his instincts. It was the best thing that kept you alive during times like this.
“Good, listen to those instincts. It will keep you alive longer.” Gwen looked at him with her piercing cat eyes. “In truth I don’t much trust you either, David. I suspect you could guess it is much harder to hide that I am a mutant when I have this appearance, so trust comes much harder with me.” She said eyes not leaving him. She was being very straight forward. It was good that a new mutant like him was being so weary. Most of the new mutants she had met either went arrogant with power or couldn’t get in their head that they could never go back to their normal life.
“I don’t need to trust you to help you out though. I can’t really leave a mutant like you out here by yourself without food.” She pulled out a large plastic baggy full of the same meat she had given David. Just because she lived like an Amazonas did not mean she didn’t use modern items. She just had trouble with some the modern inventions. The cat-woman gave the bag David. “However that doesn’t mean you have to trust or accept anymore help from me.” She paused. “I am Gweneth by the way, Gwen for short.” She said turning her attention back to the fire and poking it with the stick she had.
