Trick or treat all! You better give me candy!
Okay, joking aside, just a few updates!
First off? Actions and Consequences. Soo, you guys like to blow stuff up. Fun. But from now on, your actions have consequences. The infirmary for example. You blew it up. So it's under construction until November first. THAT MEANS all threads in there, are in a construction zone. Smart guys. Other boards will have the same reaction. So if you blow up New York? It's not New York. It's ruins. Get it? Good. Reason being.... It's awesome seeing the outcome to what you guys do, and at the same time it will make you think about any mess you start.
An update on Cohorts. We removed several groups (And students) from the list to keep things even. Basically, any student that hasn't been active, has been removed and put into unsorted so we dont have inactive characters taking up slots. Teachers were removed to keep groups of at least three students (Because in this, 3 is better then 2.). If you played a teacher that was removed, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before now. It slipped my mind. You might be re-added when we need more teachers. (Basically, for every three ACTIVE students, there will be one teacher. But, until we have three, two groups will have four members. Get it?) Just explaining so I don't get more people yelling at me.
This last announcement, is more or less just a reminder of something that keeps coming up. First, our characters and us are completely different, we need to remember this. Just because some of our characters treat others like crap, doesn't mean that's our view on the member behind the character. Please, don't take personal offense. AT THE SAME TIME! If, you do somehow upset a member, maybe your character did something to make the member uncomfortable (For example, a lot of people in serious relationships, don’t rp relationships with anyone other than their boyfriend/girlfriend. Some of these people will be uncomfortable if your character comes on to theirs.), it is your job, to be the better person and fix the problem. (example. If it’s flirting that’s upsetting the person, please stop flirting. Find a way to stay true to your character, while avoiding the behavior.) You may complain and come up with excuses like “But I can’t stay true to my character if they don’t do (whatever it is)!”. That’s an excuse. Not a reason. When you say that, it not only makes you look bad, but it makes the person you upset not want to rp with you. What’s worse? When you say that, you are, quite literally, saying you can’t grow as a writer. We as writers should always be trying ourselves, finding ways to improve. And what better way, then to try and figure out new and interesting ways for our characters to interact with others that isn’t limited to one set behavior? It’s not easy, I’ll admit, but when you come up with excuses that hold you back? You’re only hurting yourself in the long run.
I got a little sidetracked. What I am getting at? Don’t come up with excuses. Apologize, and resolve the problem. Don’t make it into a bigger mess then it already is.
