This person seeks control through domination of others and usually uses charms to achieve her ends. Characteristics- True self is hidden from others

For the Passive-Aggressive, days are lived under a negative cloud. He tries hard, but always feels misunderstood. Characteristics- Jealous
- Reserved, pessimistic, and ill-tempered

- Hostility is suppressed, leaving passivity on view
- Incapable of remaining passive, so a bad mood erupts

- Is not physically abusive but has short-lived bursts of temper

- Flexible, warm, easygoing, casual, and trusting
- Not creative; better with people than with ideas
- Good-hearted; accommodating
- Hardworking
- Not a risk taker
- Is participatory; sees the good in people
- Is insightful about people and alert to environmental cues
- Likes working in groups rather than alone
- Gets along with everyone; well liked
- Joins groups and clubs to make friends, not for causes

Life for the Victim is filled with themes of lack of self-determination and control. Victims are always convinced that others are more in command than they are. Characteristics- Filled with rage that is buried, and therefore not strongly felt
- Unaware of his own hostile behaviors
- Troubled by feelings of weakness and impotence; wants to feel safe
- Pessimistic and negative about life
- Put-upon; feels and acts burdened
- Rarely happy; pleasure results in anxiety so it must be avoided
- Tendency to turn self-denial into social concerns: “I cannot buy new shoes because others have none”
- Inhibited, serious, responsible, and unassuming
- Emotionally flat; has no deep feelings either of love or hate
- Vaguely depressed and helpless when left alone
- Feels mistreated; distrustful of others
- Tries to please others, but self-sacrifice leads to bitterness and more suffering
- Is convinced that he is constantly suffering and is proud that he or she is able to “take it”
