They say that time moves on, and continues to move on no matter what. It is a mans greatest friend, and a mans worst enemy. Well right now it was Rory and Freya's worst enemy. If they had more time Rory could either mount a defense that would kill all of them as soon as they touched down. However, they didn't, so he couldn't. So time was their biggest enemy right now. Ok, maybe not the biggest but it was definitely the most annoying...
Rory had been following Freya around the small town, which seemed to be completely deserted. It was obvious why it was deserted though, a few houses back Rory looked through the window and saw blood spattered across the walls and floors. So deserted was probably the wrong name for the town, a giant crypt would be more fitting.
No doubt the Agency had been there long ago and controlled it for who knows how long. Rory couldn't help but feel a little remorse for the people they slaughtered, they probably never saw it coming. "So where are ye takin' us exactly?" Rory asked as he looked up at the night sky, the amount of stars you could see was amazing... If it weren't for the fact that he was listening for Agency choppers.
A slight noise behind a nearby house made Rory grab his assault rifle and immediately raise it up to fire. A small black cat ran out of the snow filled alley. Rory let out a sigh and lowered his gun again, following Freya back down the street, "I know ye don't like em, alainn, but ye need ta learn how ta use a gun... Yer fire won't have any effect on some of the agents." Rory wondered if Freya even really comprehended what fighting without powers was like. She always just charged in, flames blazing, and no plan. To be honest though... it was one of her more attractive features.

It was like a ghost town. This whole place…. It was eerie. Freya, who wasn’t easily shaken, was more than a little nervous. Like Rory, her attention was on high alert, searching for any threat. They didn’t know when the Agency would be here… Just…. Soon.
Freya had to stop periodically, out of breath. She really should be resting, but when you knew the enemy would be here any minute… She couldn’t sit still. It was during one of these breaks that he first spoke to her. He’d fallen behind a bit, so she glanced over her shoulder at him. ”I don’t know…” She looked back at the town around them, remorse in her voice. There used to be people here. Families. Children… And they’d just been wiped out, as if never there…
She was torn from her thoughts, jumping in surprise as Rory prepared to fire…. At a cat. What the hell? Well, that was a little… random. ”Don’t have much of a choice, do I?” It seemed these guys were pretty well prepared when it came to people like her. People who relied on their powers more than they should.
Leaning against the outer wall of a house, she took several deep breaths. Stupid injuries. ”I don’t need to use one now, do I? I’ve never actually used one before, so I’m pretty sure I’d miss every time, or, if we were really lucky, I’d hit you.” Knowing her luck… She just might.

Rory shook his head a little at her question, no, she didn't have much of a choice to be honest. She was going to have to learn how to use weapons as well as her own fists. Elementalists would be able to overwhelm her, but the spray from a mac-10 could easily overwhelm them. Nothing like a little gunpowder and lead to solve the world problems.
"Ye know... I don't like how ye said tha'... Ye sounded almost too eager for tha' las' bit ta happen." Rory said as he walked backwards toward Freya, checking behind them. With how mad Freya still was at him, he would hesitate to give her a gun, mostly because he didn't feel like getting shot right now and with a gun in her hand... He most likely would.
Rory stopped suddenly, the sound of a distant humming motor made him freeze. Freya probably wouldn't be able to hear it yet, but he could. That meant they were about five, maybe ten minutes away at best. Quickly Rory pulled the lever back on his AR and loaded a round into the chamber, "Get inside, now!" Rory said, his voice sounding metallic once more. As he turned around to Freya his helmet was up, surely the combination of events would signal something was wrong.
It was too late though, before Rory could even move the ground seemed to exploded all around them and guns were going off left and right. They weren't trying to capture them alive this time. The explosions caused a large amount of dust and debris to be tossed up into the air, seperating Freya from Rory, "FREYA!" Rory called out.
Soon, large shadows could be seen making their way through the debris, circling the area that had been bombed. The ground shook slightly as the shadows got closer. Great... Freaks...

Freya was grinning. He knew her far to well. ”Don’t worry, I’d wait until all the bad guys were dead before shooting you.” It’d be impossible to tell if she was being sarcastic or not… But knowing her…. Even if she was being sarcastic, at least a small part was completely serious. After all, she had considered using the stun rod on him in the helicopter.
Hearing his frantic command, Freya didn’t even stop to argue, she started to move to get inside the closest house. On a good day, she probably would have made it. Today though… Today was out to get her. Her injuries slowed her down just enough that she was caught in the bombardment… Sadly she wasn’t slow enough that being separated from Rory was impossible. One such explosion went off right at her heels, throwing her off balance and sending her tumbling even farther from Rory.
”ow…..” Was the only reply she could offer to hearing Rory frantically call out her name. ”Why does the world hate me today?!” Groaning she got back on her feet. Standing once more, she flinched, before feeling something… The ground was…. Shaking? What the hell? She glanced up, trying to find the source… and spotted several dark shapes circling the area, slowly creeping closer… Maybe Rory should have filled her in on exactly what these things were…

The chaos that the Agency caused was immediate, precise, and controlled. They knew exactly what they were doing and knew exactly how to do it. The agents hadn't been trying to kill Freya and Rory, just disorient them, seperate them, and then move in for the strike. It was an effective strategy, but of course it was... The Agency was fear by those who knew them for reason after all, and it wasn't just because of their numbers, but how they used them.
While the first set of explosions only seperated him from Freya, the second set exploded at his feet and caused him to go flying backwards; rolling across the ground like a ragdoll. With a bit of effort though, Rory was able to twist his body in the air, and get his feet under him as he landed.
Pulling himself together he raised his AR at the incoming shadows. While he couldn't see Freya, he could hear her, "Alainn! These are called Freaks. Don't hesitate to kill them, they are more animal than man anymore... Oh, and their skin is resistent to fire, ice, and chemicals." When he said resistent, he meant that he had seen a Freak walk into a raging fire and come out the other side with a tan. Oh well, Freya would figure out how resistent they were.
Besides, Rory had other things to worry about as one of the beasts charged through the smoke and dust, slamming into Rory just as he got a few shots off. The creature had the face of a man, but his torst was as wide as a bus and he had more muscles than twenty men combined; a veritable tank if you will.
The creature smashed Rory into the ground, slamming him into the dirt and creating a small crater from the impact. While it stunned Rory, it didn't stop him. He immediately grabbed his AR just as the beast grabbed Rory and began to lift him above his head. Rory pointed the gun down at the beasts face, and opened fire.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the other side of the street, several more shadows were circling around Freya. When the bestial roars and gunfire of Rory's fight echoed to Freya's position, the shadows moved in. The three of them lunged out of the dust and smoke, making a mad and frantic dash for Freya. While they looked human, but their backs were stretched out and bent grotesquely. They ran on all fours and as they got closer it was apparent that they were not quite as human as they seemed.
Their skulls were long their bottom jaws were missing, while the top of the mouth was filled with sharp teeth and what appeared to be four or five razor lined "tongues" hanging from the hole where their throat was. Their back feet were stretched out, and long, much like some sort of animal. While their front "feet", hands really, had massive claws extending from each finger. It was obvious why they were called Freaks.
The three monsters wailed and screeched as the charged for Freya, sounding as though a woman was screaming loudly. They ducked and dived, dodging from side to side, making impossible targets as they got closer and closer. Two broke away from the third one and began to move quickly to flank Freya on either side, while the third one lunged through the air; claws extended outward toward Freya's neck. These monsters didn't hunt... They killed.
Freaks. Very fitting…. ”What the hell am I supposed to do then?! She was an elementalist for god’s sake! She relied on the exact powers he was saying they were resistant to!
They were closing in on her now, which made her a bit nervous to be honest. She was trying to come up with ways to stop them. Fire, of course, was out. So was heat, if that was the case. Lightning…. Might work. Lava…. She’d resort to that if lightning didn’t work… In her current state that would only be a last ditch effort, because it definitely wasn’t smart. It could kill her, to be honest!
And then… She saw them, charging madly for her. She froze for a moment, appalled by their appearances. These were…. Humans? Or… Former humans? Who could do something like that to human beings…?
It wasn’t until she heard their battle cry that she seemed to come back to her senses. Frantic now, she realized they were to close. Instantly she lashed out, lightning striking out and barely missing one of them by inches. Crap.
She felt like she was in a Jurassic Park movie, with Raptors hunting her. One distracting while the others came in for the kill from the sides. She’d focused on the sides for a second to long, leaving the front open just long enough for the one to leap towards her, aiming for the kill. Instantly, another bolt of lightning leaped from her finger tips, hitting the thing square in the chest and sending it flying back. She doubted it would have any affect as she stumbled back a few steps, still having to deal with the other two flanking her right and left. All the while, all this moving had reopened that wound on her stomach. Wincing, she wasted no time, repeating the same punishment to the two other freaks, sending them flying.
”You know, I think I liked it better when they weren’t trying to kill us!” At least before she’d had a greater chance of living. She felt like a wounded zebra, with a pride of lions moving in for the kill... Her only able to do so much.
Yup, today was seriously out to get her…
It was interesting to Rory how completely unique each and every Freak was. The one that Rory was fighting was built like a tank and was obviously meant for nothing more than sheer muscle and brute force. The beast looked as though it could rip apart a house, and considering it stood at least nine or ten feet tall, it probably could. Yet the monsters fighting Freya were predators, pure and simple, beasts that were meant for the hunt like dogs or something. Rory had seen hundreds of different kinds of Freaks, all had their own purpose, all were something out of a nightmare. He had to admit though, even if they were terrifying, Darkside was something of a mad scientist, a genius mad scientist.
Rory wasn't able to hear Freya's question about what to do as he was a little busy being beaten into a fine pulp. Honestly he couldn't believe his armor was taking this kind of punishment, but knew it wouldn't last for long. So as he opened fire into the monsters open mouth and head he prayed it would work. The bullets seemed to ricochet of the skin of the monster at first, but after a few moments they heavy spray of lead could be seen actually tearing open the beasts skull.
The monster staggered backwards, still holding Rory, and Rory still held the trigger on his gun. The beast fell forward onto it's chest, dropping Rory, but Rory didn't stop holding the trigger down. In fact, Rory held it until the monster's head had all but disappeared; shot into a bloody pulp. He only stopped then because his clip was empty. Calmly he reached down, grabbed another clip, and slid it into the gun.
"Just pretend they aren't trying to kill you if it makes you feel better. Just don't forget that they are." Rory yelled back as he began to make his way toward Freya's voice, like they were playing some kind of sick game of "Marco Polo".
From out of nowhere though, Rory suddenly hit the ground and his AR landed a few feet in front of him. Rolling onto his back to look at his feet he saw some sort of bloody tentacle like rope wrapped around his boot, leading off into the darkness. Suddenly another bloody tentacle wrapped around his boot, and another around his arm, dragging him off toward the source of the appendages. Rory struggled and fought against his bonds, he didn't know where he was going, but he had hunch that it wasn't going to be good...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the lightning hit the first of the three creatures, it went flying backwards and rolled acrosss the ground, lying limp some twenty or thirty feet away. Immediately the other two beasts charged from either side of Freya, ducking, diving, bobbing, and weaving with unnatural grace as the avoided her attacks. It didn't stop what was coming though.
The lightning eventually slammed into both of them, sending them flying back and rolling the same as the first one. All three laid on the ground limp for several minutes. It appeared as though they were dead. Slowly, the first one began to stagger to it's feet though, quickly followed by the other two. All three began circling Freya once more, this time at a distance, making it harder to be more accurate if she shot at them.
Without warning the first one stopped, and all four of it's spiked tongues lashed out, trying to wrap themselves around Freya's arms like some sort of ungodly vines. Not giving her a chance this time, the other two charged. One lunged through the air at her neck again, and the other barreling towards her legs trying to knock her toward the ground. For creatures that were so grotesque, they were very smart... Way too smart.

Freya scoffed. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Remember but don’t remember? Made absolutely no sense. Her breathing was heavy as she waited to see if the three would get back. Even something as small as that was exhausting. Hopefully they were good and dead… She really doubted she could do a repeat.
As the minutes ticked by, she relaxed. Okay, maybe they were d-
All three were slowly, eerily, getting back up. They didn’t even look like they’d taken any damage. Shit…. Well, she was officially doomed then. Because she seriously doubted she could muster the strength to do anything bigger than her last attack. She backed away as they reformed that circle, keeping their distance. Well, at least they were a little more wary of her this time.
Freya would wait for them to come, no point wasting energy if she wasn’t absolutely positive she’d hit them. Sadly, the attack came from behind… And it wasn’t the sort she expected. Something wrapped around her arms. Shocked, her body temperature sky rocketed, past the burning point and into the melting stage… But it had no affect on whatever the hell these things were. Fighting for escape, she didn’t notice the incoming attacks until a second too late. By sheer luck, she staged back just in time to avoid the attack that would have killed her.
She wasn’t so lucky with the second, considering the ‘vines’ had tightened, holding her in place as one rammed into her legs with enough force to drain a little color from her face. At least the snow absorbed some of her fall… Still, that didn’t mean she was fine. On her back, she was seeing black spots, all from the beatings she’d been put through all day long…

As Rory was drug along the ground to whatever fate was in store for him, a few things crossed his mind. First, why was Canada so frikin cold? It really sucked, why couldn't the agency ever bring him somewhere like Cancun? Second, what would he eat for supper later? It had been quite a while since he ate last and as he was drug along to ground to some unknown source he realized how hungry he was: Chinese sounded great! The last thought to cross his mind was, me eyebrow itches. As usual, some part of your anatomy always started to itch at the very moment you couldn't scratch.
Needless to say, while Rory was completely unable to move due to the tentacles, he was fairly calm about it all. It was a situation that would have made any normal person panic until they made themselves pass out, Rory was not a normal person though. Not just on terms of being a mutant, but his very personality.
Finally, the smoke seemed to be clearing in the street. Glancing over his shoulder he could see Freya getting attacked by three freaks, he had to go help her. Looking back in front of him, the smoke began to clear around the shadowy figure that was drawing Rory in. All time seemed to stop as Rory caught full sight of it.
The creature was bloated, looking much like some morbidly obese man, but even larger. The creature was walking on all fours and had arms and legs of a human, but its legs arched over and came over the mans shoulders; making his feet his "front legs" and his hands his "back legs" That sight by itself was disturbing enough, but then there was something worse. On the blob that was the creatures torse, four large slits opened up revealing the creatures rib cage (which lined the sides of the flaps like teeth) and "tentactles" (which were apparently the creatures intestines). It looked like some sort of human, venus fly trap from hell and actually caused Rory to shudder.
Unfortunately he couldn't do anything to break loose of the bloody tentacles. It looked as though he was going to go behind enemy lines to fight this threat... Meaning he was going to be eaten whether he wanted to or not. "This sucks..." Was all he said as the monster drew him closer and closer. Yet, he couldn't help the thought crossing his mind of... What would Rory Ashe taste like?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The creatures were getting smarter as the fought Freya, they were learning her tricks every time she dodge or attacked. It seemed as though they were winning too as the first creature pulled Freya to the ground just as the second creature knocked her legs out from under her. The third creature completely missed and landed on the ground several feet from Freya. That fact was inconsequential though, they would have her soon enough.
The tongues that were wrapped around Freya's arms and legs twisted and wreethed, cutting deep into her skin with the rows of teeth lining them. It was as if they were organic chainsaws. Suddenly though, the beasts prey fought back and got hotter and hotter. The first creature screamed in pain, sounding like a man screaming out loud and the tongues immediately let go of Freya and writhed back to their owner.
Yes, the monsters skin was highly resistent to heat, but their internal organs weren't. The woman had severely burned the creatures tongue, causing it to charge her in a blind rage as the other two circled around and began to charge for her too. Soon, all three were barreling towards the woman on the ground... It was feasting time.
Stupid good for nothing freaks…. They were adapting, much like Rory did when he fought someone. She could risk repeating herself, it could prove fatal.
Freya flinched as the vines…. Tongues… Whatever they were, bit into her flesh, digging deeper and deeper the more she struggled. Suddenly though…. It was… Screaming? It released her, but charged her in the same breath. She only had a few moments to try and figure out what had happened. When she did... She smiled. Interesting…
Now wasn’t the time to be smug about finding a weakness, she was about to, literally, get run over. Letting out a deep breath, to prepare herself for what was probably going to be extremely painful, she threw herself out of the way, barely managed to roll to safety. If she’d been a hair slower...
The pain blinded her for a moment, and continued to blind her as she struggled to her feet, stumbling and almost losing her balance. She may want to pass out, but now… Now she knew their weakness. It was so simple, so easy, she wanted to laugh. Why hadn’t she thought of that first?
Smirking, she didn’t wait for them to recover. Heating up someone from the inside was the easiest thing to do. In perfect health, she wouldn’t even break a sweat doing it. Mentally reaching out, she took hold of all three’s temperature, raising them as rapidly as her own body temperature had. The higher theirs went, the lower hers got, but she didn’t let up until she was sure they were good and dead. By that point, her whole body was chilled.
Gasping for breath, she stumbled towards one of the houses, leaning against it as she scanned the town… Where was Rory…? He was actually in sight, but losing blood when you were already low to begin with… Yeah, bad idea. She couldn’t even see straight as she slid to the ground. She’d just rest here until he came back…. As a precaution though, she put a hand to her wounded stomach, heating it up to the point where she could sear the wound shut.
Death was something that Rory had been incredibly accustomed to his entire life. If he wasn't causing it, then he was experiencing it first hand. It had been that way for as long as he could remember. In fact, long ago, when Rory's power was first discovered they thought he was something of a demon. So, trying to get the demon out of him, they killed him over and over.
It had been a long time since those days, and since those days Rory had died a hundred different ways. He had to admit though, up until this point, he had never been eaten. Well... There was a first time for everything so they say. At least, that was what he thought as the tentacles drug him closer and closer to the monsters 'mouth'. Rory had stopped struggling by now, realizing that the tentacles were far stronger than him.
When Rory was within feet of the mouth, he started to get lifted up into the air, allowing him to stare straight down into the beasts maw. This did suck... Without wasting another second, the creature dropped Rory in it's large mouth and closed it on him.
The beast didn't stop here though, looking left and right he saw a woman laying on the ground not far from him. Slowly, the creature plodded it's way over to her like some sort of obese human tick. Letting out a blood curdling scream, much like the beasts that were dead around the woman, the monster let his presence be known.
Soon, the creature was only feet from the woman and the bloody tentacles began to slide out of it's mouth again, snaking along the ground to grab her. Something was wrong though, the monster suddenly stopped its movements completely. Then it staggered to the left as if something hit it, then it staggered to the right, almost running over Freya.
In one second it was completely frozen still, in the next second the creature exploded; showering blood and meat everywhere. When the red mist of the blood cleared, Rory could be seen standing in the middle of the blown apart torso and mess... A very bloody Rory at that. In one hand was a sawed off shotgun, in the other was a long knife.
Slowly he turned his head toward Freya, blood dripping off of him, "You know, somethings been eating me..." Rory said non-chalantly as he walked over toward Freya, "Why haven't the soldiers come yet." He asked, kneeling down and helping her up, acting as if it was an every day occurence to get eaten.
It seems Rory shouldn't have spoke, because within seconds small flashlights could be seen coming down the road and gunfire opened open. Rory immediately picked up Freya and dashed into a nearby house, bursting through the door and setting Freya back down, "I have an idea alainn, if you think you can do it... All the houses in this town are made of wood..." Rory hinted towards her, surely that would create a big enough distraction to let Rory and Freya get away...
Freya wasn’t worried about Rory, wherever it was he’d run off to. He’s show up sooner or later, and if he didn’t… Well, he’d probably been caught by some of the others, and it wouldn’t be long until they came after her. Might as well just wait and see what fate had in store for her.
Fate was a strange thing though. The French woman had considered there being on two options, either Rory comes back, or others came to get her. She didn’t consider that another Freak, and this one really was a freak, would come charging at her. Even with her strong stomach, the moment she saw this…. Thing…. She gagged. This was a genuine freak, no other word coming to mind. And was it going to…. Yeah…. She was pretty sure… It was going to eat her. Gross…
Not being the type to willing to down without a fight, even if she was seriously injured, she stumbled to her feet. Preparing herself for the attack… That never came. Instead, something odd was happening, the creature staggering about, almost like it was drunk. At one point it just about barreled into her, the woman having to dive out of the way, or risk getting squished. Sitting up, she hissed slightly, her injuries (figuratively) on fire. She didn’t have time to worry about that though, her gaze was back on the creature.. Just in time to. Because… It’d exploded.
And there was Rory.
”….” She was dumbstruck for a moment, appalled by the idea of something eating Rory. After a moment though, she started laughing, and was still laughing when Rory helped her to her feet. ”That was you’re creepiest entrance ever.” And that was saying something. Most of his entrances were pretty over the top. But to come out of a Freak’s stomach…. Yeah, she seriously doubted he’d ever top that. Still, for his repulsing entrance, Freya was still laughing. That didn’t say anything good about her character.
Sadly, his whole comment had ruined the moment, well, the first one hadn’t, it’d made her laugh even more. It was when he mentioned the soldiers that time, which seemed to have been frozen for them, returned to normal speed. Right, they had more to worry about then the Freaks. Rory, without a second thought, scooped her up and raced into the first house. ”You jinxed us.” Was all she could say as he put her back on her feet inside.
His idea though…. Made her both giddy and sad at the same time. She loved setting things on fire, and she’d never had to opportunity to set a whole town aflame before! At the same time… It meant they’d be camping out. Great. And here they’d thought they could spend at least the night in an actual bed. ”Oh, I can do it. Just a shame, I was looking forward to not having to sleep on the ground.” And she could, even when she was ready to pass out. She was just as stubborn as stubborn as he was! Sometimes, even more so!
Looking out the open doorway, she focused, setting the house across the street on fire. From there, she didn’t need to see. She could feel the flames, controlling their movements, spreading them over rooftops and to every single house in the town. From there, it was like a miniature explosion. What had previous been small, but still visible flames, turned into raging infernos, engulfing whole houses in matter of seconds, the one they were in included. She continued focusing though, keeping the flames from entering the home, they wouldn’t have to worry about the roof collapsing on them until they left.
Freya looked a little pale as she kept it up, but otherwise, that was the only sign of her fatigue.
This whole night had been one crazy experience after another.That being said, it wasn't all that shocking when the freak ate Rory. At least it wasn't that shocking to Rory anyways. With how calm he seemed, you'd think he'd been eaten before, as if it was a common occurence. In fact, the most prominent thought that went through Rory's head while he was in the darkness was wondering whether he tasted salty or sweet and eventually concluding that he must taste pretty good. While the most prominent thought going through the head of the freak was wondering what exactly it's food had rolled in before it ate it to make it taste so nasty.
The digestive juices hadn't even begun to come up before Rory grabbed his holstered sawed-off shotgun and gave the freak a buckshot enema. Apparently Rory had been a little too liberal with the buckshot, as the poor beast didn't survive the procedure... It was a damn good thing Rory wasn't a doctor, because he'd be pronouncing far too many of his patients dead... But hey, at least it'd take care of the medicare problems.
Though, when Rory did cause the freak to explode, the strangest thing wasn't the fact that he made it explode... but that he was greeted by the sound of hysterical laughter... Freya's hysterical laughter. "If you think that's creepy, wait for my second act... Where I put the creature back together!" Rory quipped, though he was still a bit baffeled by how funny she thought it was. It seems that more of Rory was rubbing off onto Freya than was expected. Either way, underneath his mask he grinned at her laughter.
"I'm not sure whether I should be disturbed or turned on by how funny you think this is." Rory said with a slight grin. Though, it was time to turn to more serious matters as Freya agreed to start the town on fire. Rory nodded slightly at her and took a step back to give her room to do whatever she needed to do.
Almost immediately, the temperature reading on Rory's visor began to skyrocket; it was working. Any ghosts that were around would be blind in the night, their visors wouldn't be able to use any type of thermal, infrared, or radiation imaging with that much heat. They would be dead in the water so to speak, as for the soldiers, they would be cut off from any support. This town was obviously a trap set up by the Agency, but more often than not, a trap can be used both ways...
In moments the night sky was ablaze with a hundred burning houses,, including theirs. Rory walked to the window of the house and through the flames he could see an agency helicopter sitting on top of the hill at the edge of town with what looked like two ghosts guarding it. He was quiet for amoment before turning back to Freya, "I have an ide-... Are you alright, alainn?" Rory asked, walking over and putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Listen, our exit is sitting on the hill outside, a helicopter guarded by two ghosts... I can distract the soldiers long enough for you to get over there and get the ghosts attention, I will be right behind you..." Rory paused for a moment, "It's our only shot at getting out of this hell hole, you think you can do it?" Rory didn't like asking Freya to do something this strenuous when she looked this bad, but they had little choice...
It shouldn’t be funny. It was disturbing and creepy. But why… Why couldn’t she stop laughing? Great, Rory was rubbing off on her a little too much. Before meeting him, she would have been appalled by his act… And then he just had to make it worse by speaking up. She should be shocked that he was even joking about doing something worse! Nope, she just laughed more.
”This really doesn’t say anything good about my character, does it?” She paused, a huge grin on her face as she managed to stop her fit of giggles. ”Oh, you should be turned on. You’re the one who’s corrupted me.” She had nothing against being corrupted…. Actually, corrupted wasn’t even a strong enough word for what he’d done to her personality over their time together.
Sadly, the fun and games were over. She let the flames run wild, only keeping an eye on the ones that threatened to consume the pair. His concern though, was appreciated. Her grin softened to a small smile. ”I’m fine.” Not really, but she wasn’t one to admit weakness, much like Rory.
Freya listened in silence as he told her the plan, and simply nodded when he finished. ”Don’t worry, they won’t even see you coming.” Stubborn woman she was. To hell with her injuries! Besides, she was just playing decoy! If she couldn’t do this, she couldn’t call herself an Elensar! Sure, this might be a bad idea in the long run…. But she wouldn’t be the first one to say so. Or the second…. Actually, she wouldn’t say so at all. ”Just don’t fall too far behind.”
She took a deep breath, before running out of the house and making a break for the hill he’d mentioned. Oh, it hurt. It hurt like hell to run, but this was their chance… Not the time to worry about pain. But how was she going to get their attention? Well, fire wouldn’t work on them… But it was pretty flashy. Can’t exactly ignore hurling balls of fire being flung at you. Guess that would have to do.
Using some of the flames from the houses, huge balls broke away from the homes, hurling themselves towards the two ghosts.
Of course Rory liked how much he had corrupted Freya, it excited him. This was largely due to the fact that Rory himself was so corrupted. The corruption in him ran so deep that many questioned whether he was a good guy or a bad guy, he himself had asked himself that very question before. Rory was a person who walked a very, very fine line between absolute evil and completely noble. That line was crossed on both sides quite regularly. However, as the someone once put it, Rory has a gentle and kind heart; he just understands that you must sometimes do evil to accomplish good.
That being said, Rory liked other people who were like him, people who had no problem completely dismembering a bad guy... Or finding it hilarious when he did. Though, he had to admit, it struck him very funny that the first time he met Freya she would've been appalled and was appalled by a lot of the stuff she did... Now that she thought it was as funny as he did, he couldn't help but be that much more attracted to her.
"Don't worry, I will be right behind you... I have the perfect distraction." The latter part was said under his breath slightly. Rory nodded to Freya, then hit a small button on the neck of his armored suit before stepping through the flames and out into the street.
"It's just another night/ I stare at a star/ I think about, I wonder how you are/ I cannot escape you/ No, I can't put out the fire in my heart." The song boomed out across the entire town, Rory was singing it and the button he had hit earlier turned his voice processor into a megaphone. It wouldn't have surprised him if people all the way in Quebec could hear him. The soldiers on the other hand, could hear him quite clearly, but couldn't tell where the sound was coming from.
The soldiers turned around wildly, it sounded as though the voice was right behind them, but they couldn't see anyone in the flames, "Fire in my heart/ One look in my eyes/ And you'll realize/ The fire in my heart/ Is burnin' for you." The word 'you' was said much more quietly than the rest of the song, in fact, Rory whispered it into the ear of the soldier he had snuck behind.
The man whipped around, trying to turn his gun on Rory. Before he could though, Rory grabbed the gun and the mans hand and jerked him close; only inches from Rory's face, "Not a music lover? Then you sir, shall die." The fire reflecting off Rory's bloody mask and suit made him look like some sort of demon as the claws extended from his gloves. He shoved a claw into the stomach of the man, ripping it open and disembowling him. "Sir, I was mistaken!" Rory said, as he stepped back and watched the soldier stare down at his own guts, still alive, "I see now you are a music lover, you simply couldn't stomach my singing... You are forgiven." He said with a nod as the man finally collapsed to the ground, holding his own stomach dead.
"As for the rest of you..." Rory said loudly, without the megaphone on, to which all the soldiers spun on their heels and saw him standing in the middle of the street by their murdered comrade. "I believe the funerel march will be more fitting." Immediately the soldiers opened fire on Rory, and he began to run, roll, and dive across the street; jumping from soldier to soldier with a speed and grace that was unnatural. Ripping the hearts out of some, the stomachs out of others, or simply ripping others heads off; it looked much like a dance... A true dance of death... If that wouldn't distract the fifty soldiers (or more) in the street, nothing would...
The ghosts were standing sentry at the helicopter, making sure that no one came back and tried to take it or tried to run away. That held true for Rory, in case he and the woman tried to steal it, or the soldiers... in case they chickened out and tried to run away. Either way, the Ghosts were standing there in their armored suits, like metal statues as they watched the battle down below them.
SUddenly, a small fire appeared on the horizon. They both looked at each other, then looked back to see that it wasn't a fire, but a massive fireball headed towards them. The ball of fire hit, launching snow, fire and dirt everywhere and barely avoiding blowing up the chopper. When the smoke cleared, the Ghosts were no where to be seen, it appeared as though they were dead.
Suddenly, two dark figures appeared from behind the chopper, looking at the damage, then turning their heads toward Freya. Unlike the ghosts that attacked New York, these weren't scouts... They were rmored, fully decorated, Ghosts; true predators. Like true predators, you couldn't surprise them. With an unnatural amount of speed, the both charged down the hill toward Freya, one pulling out a sword; the other grabbing a gun and firing on Freya. In seconds they would be on her like a storm... They were no cold blooded freaks without brains... They were just cold blooded...
