Vivienne tread the lawn in front of the school, looking for a good spot to practice. She had learned over the few years that she'd been there to keep a level head, else her pyrokinesis might spin out of control. It was hard sometimes though - she wasn't heartless. It was easier for her now to control it when she felt angrier than a bear. The classes - as well as one-on-one with a few of the teachers during these instances, had helped immensely. The weather was fair, but the night was coming soon. Vivi wasn't afraid of the dark. After all, it only took a spark of a thought to start a flame from her finger. She liked practicing when it was darker - she could see what she was doing more easily, in a sense. You can't see light in light very well. Vivi stopped for a moment, finding a spot far away enough from the trees to be considered safe. The sun was bright orange, sending out muffled waves of orange light that caused the clouds to turn purple and dark blue in the shadows. She opened her hand and a low ball of flames emerged from her skin and crept up her arm, around her shoulders, and down to her other hand. The whole part of her upper body became engulfed in flames, and they rose higher and higher. All the while, Vivi concentrated to keep them in a straight line, almost like a pillar, and also keeping her mind clear. She looked up, seeing that it was impossible to see the top of the flames, but she could feel the heat and just about how high it was. Maybe 50ft off from her shoulders, if that. They weren't strong, thick flames - she was going more for range than strength. The flames made her feel warm, and she liked being warm. Who wouldn't? Her mind eased with the comfort of the heat as she closed her eyes, but it also concentrated less on the form of the flames. They started to slide back and forth almost wildly. Without strict control, they blew wildly, but Vivi opened her eyes again and changed its form again, taking control again. Her fingers shifted slightly, and the flames fanned out, losing much of the height but covering more of an area in a fan-like shape.

((Hope you don't mind))
Logan roamed the grounds very night as a habit before he went out. It gave him time to think and it put his mind art ease if he could check the grounds out for himself instead of relying on that computer system. It was starting to get dark now and he was a bit distracted with news about jean being back. Practiced feet made no sound as he ran in his dirt caked boots from one shadow to the next. The soft rustling of denim reached his ears as his legs moved. A white beater hugged his form under his favorite brown jacket.
Logan started noticing that it was getting brighter as the sun was setting. How was that happening? He walkd along and spotted a young femal on the grounds. She seemed familiar yet not. Pulling up to the tree line, he watched for a moment as the line of fire grew higher and higher and then changhed again. This time it was going horizontal. It was an incredible sight. He stood up and just walked to the edge of the flames, wondering how much control she had. He could feel the heat from them and it didn't seem too hot just yet. It's not like he was afraid to be burned. He had been through worse. He pulled out a cigar and clipped the end of it before setting it in his lips and lit it. He inhaled and blew it out before looking to her again.
"Nice trick darlin'."

((Not at all!)) Vivi took in a few deep breaths - the first ones that she had really been aware of ever since she began manipulating the flames. The fan brought itself closer in as the sun sank even lower, almost gone from the horizon. Now it would be hard to miss the flames from practically anywhere around the school's grounds. She lit up the area like, well, fire does. A big fire. Like a wildfire. The teen drew her hands around, and the flames followed, making a circular pattern, almost like a dome.
"Nice trick darlin'."
Vivi's eyes shot open as she turned to see who was there, sudden fear pulsing through her body. The flames licked wildly again, covering her entire body and setting the grass at her feet afire. All she saw was a man with a strange hair and beard style, smoking a cigar. Vivi quickly realized that her entire body was covered with flames and cleared her mind momentarily. The flames vanished. She momentarily stomped out the flaming grass.
"Jesus! Don't sneak up on me like that!" she said, glaring at the man once the fire was out. "I could've put this whole place up in flames!" She breathed, letting go of all her sudden anger. 'You're not mad at him, you're mad at yourself,' she thought, sighing. She hated not having complete control over her powers. Fire was dangerous, so then did that make her dangerous too?
Vivi looked down at the ground and kicked at a stray rock. "Do you ever think the humans are right? About mutants I mean.. I don't mean making us their slaves or anything, but, more about like us being dangerous..?" She more thought out loud than actually was trying to talk to him, but she was too deep in thought to really say anything else.

Logan laughed a moment as she panicked a bit. That little trick of hers spun faster and engulfed the rest of her body and set a patch of grass on fire. He could smell some of his jacket threads being singed and he put them out with a pat to his shoulder. Well playing with fire was fun after all. "First off, I sneak everywhere, it's in my nature darlin'. Second if ya had managed ta burn it, 'Ro would bring the rain 'r somethin'." Wasn't like she was the only one with fire powers and it's not the first time the masion has been caught on fire. He could remember one time.. but that was not important now.
He started walking towards her, still pretty silent but his ears caught what she was asking herself. "Yes an' no darlin'. Yes mutants can be dangerous, I should know being one of the dangerous types, but that doesn't mean humans should fear me unless i want them too. People should just realize that just like normal humans, there 're good ones an' some bad ones. The bad ones give the rest of 'em a bad name." He gave a shrug and looked her over. She was a young one, but she didn't seem like a student, but you just never knew now a days.
"Names Logan by the way darlin'. Who might ya be?" He extended his hand to her and smirked, his cigar still clentched at the side of his mouth. This was shaping up to be a good night.

Vivi glared but sighed when the man laughed. Apparently he didn't know how dangerous it could be. In a second, a fire she started that got too big too quickly could be across the lawn and burning the main building before anyone had any time to react in any way shape or form. She certainly couldn't contain and control and expel a fire that big. Yet, at least, if ever. That was exactly what had happened at her home, but back then she had no idea of how to control it, or that it was really even her in the first place. Now though, the fire might have been small enough for her to control it, but it didn't matter - she didn't want anything else to become uncontrollable as well as be caused by herself.
Vivi sighed and brushed some loose hairs out of her face. She crossed her arms as he began speaking again, somewhat skeptical of what he said. "Rain might not be enough to stop a wildfire that gets big enough," she answered, frowning. "That's why they call them 'wild'.." She thought about what he said about mutants being dangerous for a moment, then kicked at the burnt grass. Ironically, she loved the smell of burnt things - she kept a neat supply of thin wooden sticks and incense to burn in her room every now and then.
"You don't seem that dangerous." And it was true. While she was running with that gang that took her in for a few years when she was young, she saw some men who had bad seeping from their skin. He didn't seem like one who'd pluck someone's eyeballs out just for a laugh. She looked back at him and said, "I'm not talking about the 'bad' ones, I mean the ones who can't even control what they're doing.."
Vivi smiled. "I'm Vivienne," she replied, shaking his hand.

"Oh believe me darlin', Ro knows what she's doin'. The mansion got it's defenses, even from fire." Hekept that smirk on his face. "True, wild fires can consumfe everythin' in it's path but ya don't know 'Ro like I do. Storm can summon enough water to drown this place in mere minutes." He gave a small shrug. How many times had he been zapped by her lightning? Too many to count. Then again, he had deserved each one. He also enjoyed some of the smells fire brought. Like the sweet smell of tobacco from his cigar.
"Looks can be decievin' darlin'." He merly chuckled at the comment. So she wasn't one to recognize skilled danger? Well he wasn't one to attack for fun...okay not someone who didn't deserve it. Just because he didn't go around maiming people (much), didn't mean he wasn't dangerous. He listened to what she was saying. Her words were an echo that he'd heard from other students. "Nice ta meet ya Vivienne." He took a drag off his cigar, collecting his thoughts.
"Mutants can be a danger to thermselvres and others when their powers first manifest, yes but that don't mean norms have the right to toss 'em to the government. It ain't pretty. Just be glad your here an' not there." Just thinking about it brought a growl to his lips. He caught himself and closed the distance between them. "You're not a danger her darlin'. Control comes with time an' even the best of us can loose it from time ta time." He turned from her towards the forest. "You a student then? How hot can yer flames go?" His fingers moved to scratch his chin, his eyes searching the growing darkness.
